Soooo pretty!!
Marnie P.

I wish I could move to Wytheville just for this coffee shop! Or maybe move this coffee shop to my hometown in NC. Passing through Wytheville and needing a pick me up so bestie and I swung by The Grind for some coffee and breakfast. We both ordered hash brown patties (crispy and fresh), muffins (blueberry for my bestie and double chocolate for me), and a macchiato for me. The muffins came out fresh and delicious, definitely some of the best muffins we've ever had. But the iced Caramel Macchiato with Salted Caramel Cold Foam totally stole the show as it was not only beautiful but well balanced and delicious. This will now be my go to drink anytime I'm in Wytheville for travel! I loved being able to place my order on a screen, and then being told that they received my order by the staff and that they'd have it ready for me shortly. Super friendly staff and considering how busy they were and how much we ordered, they were very quick!

I forgot the correct name! But the iced was with Apple something espresso Hot was a very heavy flat white

My second time in Wytheville with the Sprinter van and I love it because the city has set up power outlets across the street so that I was able to charge up the van's battery. And while doing that, I'm returning some to the local economy with coffee here. The Grind has set up touch screen kiosks for ordering - like McDonald's - and you can customize your drink and food order without having to explain it to a human. When it arrived, the coffee was excellent and the service was great. I stayed here for about two hours with their great wifi. [Review 20383 overall - 1442 in Virginia - 1361 of 2023.]

Custom Caramel Frappe and a 16hr steeped iced coffee

The overall experience was amazing. The coffee is very good, not bitter at all. Inside they had music playing and it felt very cozy but open. The service was very good as well, quick and attentive. I recommend this to anyone who is visiting downtown Wytheville!

Excellent service and excellent coffee! Non-dairy milk options are almond and oat. Can order at the register or self serve kiosks. Would definitely recommend!

Halwa Bakery & Cafe - London Fog latte was perfect, but the Lebanese Pastry was not fresh

My husband and I come to this every so often, so far it's been our top choice for coffee. Their…read moremenu is large, you can get anything from teas, coffees, lattes, and refreshments. The treats tend to be a bit pricey, but the few we've gotten have been very delicious! I will say recently though I ordered an Horchata (cinnamon) Latte. The barista at the register informed me it didn't have espresso. I thought it was silly mostly because horchata doesn't come with coffee so I told her it was fine. But the name is misleading, it's literally just milk with cinnamon. For $5 I got milk and cinnamon. I will say I was pretty disappointed. BUT other than that everyone is always lovely, the place is pretty clean, even the bathrooms, so I will still rate this place 5/5 because other than this we really haven't had a problem that couldn't be solved, and most of the drinks are tasty.

This was a disappointment and given the almost universally positive reviews, I'm not sure if my…read moreexperience was an anomaly or if Halwa is benefitting from a college town, grading on a curve situation. I came by last Wednesday morning for a bit of caffeine and a bite to eat before my top-tier chum who literally went to the school of hospitality (down the street at VA Tech) and I embarked on our road trip into Kentucky. I'm a hardcore morning person and it's often difficult to find coffee places that are open before 8am. The primary reason I came here was because they opened at 7am, well before most of the businesses in the area did. That's a point in their favor at least. And it's cute in there. Per my accompanying picture, there's a lot to take in, with tons of items on the walls and on display, and I needed a solid minute or two just to look over the large menu, which featured a lot of different types of coffees/lattes, as well as a significant number of Middle Eastern influenced snacks and pastries. I literally got over there just as the doors opened (promptly right before 7), so I had the run of the place for my short time in there; I have no doubt this place is hopping when students are actually on campus and don't feel like frequenting the obligatory Starbucks for whatever reason. Maybe it's just a personal palate issue but I didn't like anything I had. Since this was a very specific type of coffee establishment, I tried the Turkish Coffee. That one for sure just wasn't my speed - it's a super tiny portion, pretty much akin to a shot or two of espresso, and aside from the first two or three sips, was literally just grounds. My gut says that's just how Turkish Coffee is, and I won't be sampling that again anywhere. I did see some intriguing lattes including one of my all-time chums Rose, so that was probably the call in hindsight. I also selected two food items, both of which were also unfortunately misses for me. One was the baklava, a pastry I'm very familiar with and tend to really like. This was, I'm sad to say, the worst I've had. The biggest issue is that you can barely taste the main ingredients, namely the pistachio and honey. You know what you can taste, see and feel on your tongue though? Sugar. Lots of sugar. For some bizarre reason, they make their baklava here with a layer of this crystallized sugar. I don't know why, but it honestly ruins the item and drowns out the actual flavors you should be tasting. Arguably an easy fix, but I only took a few bites of it. I also got a Lebanese puff pastry, which looked intriguing but just didn't have much of a flavor. This was my first time trying it, so maybe it's supposed to be on the blander side for whatever reason, but it mostly just tasted like dough to me, especially the areas closer to the edge (not all that dissimilar in my experience from a croissant). The service was fine; there was just the one young woman behind the counter opening up for the day, and everything I ordered was provided within a few minutes. I got two coffees (a "normal" one for my chum as well), and the two pastries, which came to close to $30. I think that's a little pricy, especially for a place right off of a college campus, but your mileage may vary. Normally I'd recommend avoiding an establishment where I literally didn't like anything, but my gut says it's still worth stopping by. Just don't get what I got.

Marsha made me a latte that was perfect , she made it with a big smile and asked if I wanted cinnamon and nutmeg before I even thought of it. The broccoli cheddar soup is my favorite from the hot bar - the broccoli is not pieces but whole stalk and floret , great texture not mushy that taste very fresh and the soup base is nice and thick. It's always a joy to shop at Earth Fare and they always have what I need.

This makes it less excusable that the store just didn't seem to be fully stocked. The produce section was a small corner of the store. Prepared foods was a much bigger entrant, as was the freezer section. The lack of fresh items seems contrary to the health food vibe. On the upside, you'll struggle to find a place that has more niche brands with vegan, gluten-free, and other specialty items. The local focus is also appreciated. On the downside, I was surprised how expensive it was, and that's with shopping the sale items and the $1 credit I apparently picked up by shopping at the Roanoke Earth Fare. Frankly, that one is better.

So naturally when I heard about this casual spot in the Valley View Mall serving these and other Signature Drinks and Akai Bowls I immediately planed a trip to the Mall to try it out. This very unique establishment located in the Food Court of the Valley View Mall in a location behind a large window counter near the Barnes and Nobles Bookstore and Food Court tables and chairs, is one of the businesses in the Mall that is continously full with people of all ages: families, friends, and others, wanting to enjoy some quality time together, enjoying a special treat and drink. When I arrived at the place I examined the menu located above the wall in bright menu displays. A young lady employee greeted me with a smile and took my order. I ordered an Iced Thai Bubble Tea with Boba and some Ohio Crepes with Peanut Butter, Nutella, Banana, and Crushed Cookies. Both items were very fresh and delicious. As I enjoyed eating and savoring the Crepes at one of the tables in the Food Court area of the Mall, I observed many other people passing by this business and ordering especially Smoothies and Specialty Drinks.
