Very convenient to Interstate 81 and a busy shopping center with Walmart, Lowe's a movie theater and several other restaurants. This is a smaller Starbucks but the staff is very friendly and helpful. I wish I would have been able to enter the Starbucks to see if it's really as slow as y'all say. Using my nifty Starbucks app, I located this upon the verge of closing, but with 20 minutes to spare. Driving by, it looked closed (as in lights out closed) so I had to check with the phone again. Ok, yes!! It was open. I stop in here at least twice a week as I travel from Liberty University to Asheville, NC. Usually it's late at night when I stop in and the service is always quick and nice. Mobile ordering works awesome if I'm in a hurry and my drink is always on point. More than once a worker has recognized me and given me a drink for free because he knows I'm traveling. This Starbucks is now officially the worst in the country! Like Gil G., I have been to this location multiple times and it's consistently the same. Upon arrival, the seating area is routinely dirty. What's the excuse? This Starbucks isn't very busy on the inside. And the locals aren't the gung-ho Starbucks variety. At 1300 on December 31, 2011, Guy #1 taking the order was extremely slow. My drink order isn't too complex, and I always present it in the correct Starbucks order. No excuse, again. I paid with my Starbucks card, and after he swiped it, he placed it down on the counter in a rude way. He repeated this action to everyone else. My drink this day is an iced chai--It's one of the simplest drinks to make. Literally, pump chai, add milk and ice. Done. The drink took around 10 minutes to make, and four people were scrambling to make it. "What in the hell..." was my exact thought. Four people to make a simple drink?! When Guy #2 finished my drink (and might I add that he was one of the sloppiest Starbucks employee I have ever seen) he gave it to me with chai dripping down the sides, all over the top and bottom. Unacceptable! After trying to unsuccessfully clean it up, I took it back to Guy #2, who acted disgusted that I would bring his creation back for correction. I asked him, politely, to give me a new cup and top. he complied, rudely, and only 50%. I only got a new cup. He put the same foam and chai covered top back on! I just left and took my drink and pastry to my car. I came back inside to speak with the manager on duty. Each of the six employees acted extremely busy when I came back in. There were only two customers in the store at the time. I spoke with the manager on duty, I believe it was Lacy, and she took care of the problem by comping me, but she seemed so lackadaisical. This is not the experience Starbucks wants its customers to have. I think part of the problem is that the people in this area have just recently opened-up the idea to "outsiders." Also, people in Wytheville are weary of people that don't speak, act and dress like them. Which, in this case, means white country redneck with forest-themed attire. And to clarify and rinse/repeat, this is now the worst Starbucks in the country. read more

THEY ARE ALWAYS OUT of something. In the past month I have been several times and today will be my last. They were out of medium cups so you had to buy a small or large. So I bought two large coffees. One was pumpkin spice and the other was vanilla latte. I asked her to put whipped cream on the vanilla latte and I was told unfortunately it does not come with whip cream. So I paid for two large coffees when I really wanted medium and they can't put whipped cream on one??? Give me a break! I HAVE never been told that in all of the years going to Starbucks. Thank goodness this place exists! This is a stable visit during my annual trip to Galax each year. When driving back to Nashville, my wife and I always stop here. We both love Starbucks and it gets a long drive off to a great start. I read some of the other reviews, but I'm fine with this location. It has never been crowded. I have been getting the same drink every day for six years now at Starbucks locations all across the country. This Starbucks told me that if I want extra shots in my drink, they are going to lessen all of the other ingredients but still charge me the cost of the full drink plus the extra two dollars for the shots. How does that make any sense? Especially because the day prior I didn't have any issues getting my normal drink from this location. I'm so sad this is the only location in my area. Out of all the Starbucks locations, I have been here three times. Order coffee here, and everything is exceptional. Order a sandwich and chaos is what I got. The place is clean and organized with all the for sale goodies in the center. The people smile and try to be a bit personable however, repitition breeds dullness in the workplace. The Turkey and Dressing holiday panini was what killed my happiness. What seemed thrown together from reminents from Christmas dinner and solid cranberry pieces used on the bliss bar, fell out into the bottom of the bag with the dressing pieces. The only Starbucks for miles and a pretty good one at that (I've been to plenty.) my drinks have always tasted good and the service is good. The drive through is a little weird to get to if you are visiting for the first time (but that is weird shopping center in general - as far as design goes.) but really, going west, the next Bucks isn't until Bristol, east - Roanoke, north - Princeton and South - Suburbs of Charlotte.
