Stopped in Wytheville for a night on our way to KY and decided to give this place a try. There were a few good things and some bad things. Good: the decor and ambiance. Bad: our service. Once we got our food we didn't see our waitress again. My bestie's mixed drink was never made, and when my bestie and I were done eating the waitress came back to our table and my bestie told her to cancel the drink, she said the drink was already made and couldn't be cancelled. The waitress went to retrieve the drink and it was not made so it was removed from our ticket. Bestie and I both ordered the Triple B burger and asked for the jalapeños to be removed. Bestie's burger came out with jalapeños on the burger. My burger was delicious until the heat from the jalapeños hit my palate and blew my palate with too much spice. The fries were seasoned well, crunchy, and hot. Honestly if the burger had less spice it would have been perfection so I'm so disappointed that I couldn't eat the whole thing due to the heat. read more

I've eaten here several times over the years and food quality has ranged from "mediocre" to "lousy." Somehow they seem to think "expensive" means "fine dining": it doesn't. It doesn't matter how you order your steak or your burger; you'll get it cooked well-done. Sand/grit in the salad. read more

Tyler met us at the bar way before our reservation and was so accommodating. He told us the history of the town, made amazing drinks and got us our appetizer in great time. Our outdoor seating in this tiny town was BEAUTIFUL- sunset from the patio, Hannah our waitress was great. A must stop halfway up the corridor to avoid DC!!!! I didn't expect to find this level of culinary skill in such an out-of-the-way spot. Not just good flavors, but creative and inspiring combinations. This high ceiling lobby restaurant in a historic hotel has an energetic vibe, but without being noisy. I ate here on a whim. Loved the food I had and was curious about the rest of the menu. So I went back the next night. I almost never do that! I was just as impressed the second time. Staff was super friendly. They all had a great attitude. I'm from Chicago and I've been to Wytheville visiting family many times. I've never been out for a nice night out in town before. This place was beautiful. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful with where to sit, suggestions for what to do in town and menu recommendations. We loved our night here having dinner on the beautiful rooftop. We were told if we were on the rooftop that the meals would be the same food but in to go containers vs plates. We wanted the view so we chose to sit up there. It was all a very lovely and a perfect experience. A "must" when visiting Wytheville. We will be back for sure! read more

The food: Made a reservation for two, based on the reviews we saw on TripAdvisor. When we got into town, we began asking locals about the highest rated restaurants and several directing us away from this restaurant. We decided since we had the reservation and it was so high on the TripAdvisor list, we should try it regardless. Nice location in town, and "the perch," which is a small rooftop seating area where you can take your drinks or order one and enjoy the view in the evenings. The perch is a part of the connected hotel, but they seem to operate seamlessly with each other, i.e., we were told if you want to take your left over wine from the restaurant up to the perch you can. The reason for the one star was simply the food. I ordered the country fried chicken which came with mashed, Brussels sprouts with gravy. When it arrived, the gravy that was the bottom puddle for the rest - and it was ice cold and congealed. Ice cold and shinny as it had separated- it was simply gross. The chicken was over fried, stringy and dry. My husband ordered the steak Edith filet. It was dry and heavily salted. Interestingly. when we ordered our server explained that the sauce that it normally came with was very salty per his earlier customers. My husband ordered the sauce on the side as we explained he preferred to taste the meat and could dip into the sauce to try it. The problem is that when the steak came - without the sauce- it was visibly dry and the first bite found that The meat itself was heavily heavily salted. My husband, who loves a good filet, said in his opinion that it was not a very good cut. I sent my meal back and my husband, wanting to be a good sport, decided to keep the steak. The manager came by and we told him about our dishes. He offered to comp our dessert, but we decided not to take him up on the offer. One entrée done poorly could be a "one off," but two entrées done poorly is reflective of the quality of the kitchen. We opted instead to finish our beers and left for a different restaurant. In retrospect we should have listened to the local folk who tried to wave us off. Cannot recommend this place until they work out whatever is going on in the kitchen. read more

My friend and I were nearby biking the New River Trail and decided to give this place a try based on the good reviews. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience! Everyone was friendly and welcoming from the front of house to the manager (or owner?) circulating around during our meal. We lucked into some great live music (Matt from WV) on the patio that made the experience so pleasant! The food was excellent (as was the special gin cocktail!) and the service top notch. We had an absolutely wonderful dining experience. I can't remember when I've enjoyed a restaurant more. Highly recommend! read more

Wonderful Restaurant at the old Wythe Hotel in downtown Wytheville. Waited in the hotel for restaurant to open at 4:00 PM on Sunday evening. Quiet and clean seating. Very clean place . Graze salad was great . Yummy . Wife got Eddies Dinner Steak and potatoes. It was delicious. I also had Pasta which was alright but different. Wife enjoyed the dinner and she is very picky . Not impressed with this place at all. We had a business dineer here and the nicest thing we could come up with to say about the place was that a few of the entrees weren't terrible. The cornbread was the driest I've ever eaten. The salmon was overcooked and two colleagues ordered chicken and both received raw chicken. To the restaurant's credit, they recooked those entrees and gave us a comped dessert to make up for it. The best part of the meal was the server. Unfortunately, I don't recall his name but he was prompt, polite and attentive. He is the only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one. Service was fantastic. We sat at the bar and both bartenders were so friendly and entertaining. The apps we got were very good - Brussels sprouts and pimento cheese dip. The bread bowl that the pimento cheese dip was served in was delicious. My reason for 3 stars is because of the entree - a 12 oz New York Strip. It lacked flavor and was undercooked. I ordered it medium rare but I would guess the cooked temp to be 125F maybe less. I hate to send food back so I didn't. The bigger issue was it was not a very good cut and it really had no flavor. So disappointing. My colleague got the filet. He ordered his medium rare and it was also undercooked. I got a double broccoli as my side. The broccoli came out cold. I will definitely give them another try if I am in the area based on the service. read more

Graze on Main is located in the Boiling Wilson Hotel, where it serves as the hotel's restaurant. I totally agree when they say it's the "best restaurant in Wytheville" as Wytheville isn't all that much of a town. Everything about Boiling is southern with Graze being an eclectically designed restaurant with décor features wood floors, luxury fabrics, comfortable seating, unique art, and lighting. Graze offers a southern twist on certain favorites; like pimento cheese, fried green tomatoes, shrimp & grits, steak, and daily seafood specials. Also at the bar, specialty bourbons, micro-brews, southern teas, wines, and house-made desserts. I started off with their pimento cheese dip, which they say is southern, but hit me as a take-off on old-fashioned Lulu Paste, but with a twist, making it super delicious. I was thrilled to see they had a Shrimp Etouffee, one of my favorite Cajun dishes, on the menu but since it had rice and I'm forcing myself to do a Keto diet, I opted to have their 6-ounce filet that came topped with a delicious Diane sauce. The cocktails I had were exceptionally well crafted and my service was al top-notch friendly and professional. My friend and I stopped here for dinner after a wedding in the area. We had one of the last reservations of the night and arrived to a pretty full restaurant. We ordered a nice bottle of champagne and a few appetizers and entrees to share. Everything was delicious and the ambiance was upscale. It seemed like a reservation was required to get a table (we saw others get turned away at the Host stand) however I didn't receive a call back to confirm our reservation which made me nervous since we were only traveling through on our way home. This was one of the best meals, cocktails, and service we've had in quite a while. The atmosphere was pleasant and polished. The staff was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. The cocktails were excellent, and they offered an incredible and unique variety of options. The food was exceptional. Enjoyed our meal at Grace on Main. Lots of flavor and just the right amount. We had a cup of soup, chicken dumpling which was peppery with lots of white meat chicken and fluffy dumplings. The Graze Salad was tasty with the macerated berries (blueberries), candied pecans and goat cheese and the vinaigrette was nice. The citrus grilled shrimp either creamed corn was very flavorful. Dessert... Signature Carrot Cake, YES you need to try this! A wonderful spin on carrot cake. Service was helpful and attentive. Everything about Graze on Main was amazing!! No seriously amazing!!! From our server ,start to finish fun and fantastic! I can't show you the mouth watering filet or the color of the shrimp and grits because it was so perfect I couldn't take the time to photo our food lol sorry my bad next time and ooooo there will be a next time zoom zoom will be back 4 sure. The table setting was comfortable. I would say the company in the room,all strangers but seemed as if I was in the room with friends. Everyone really seemed to be enjoying themselves. Dad and I went here for dinner on a Thursday night. I always check Yelp when traveling and have rarely been disappointed. The restaurant is in the Bolling Wilson Hotel named after former President Woodrow Wilson's second wife Edith. She actually grew up in Wytheville. There was only one server in the dining room so without reservations, we were offered to sit at a high top table in the bar, which was fine with us. COVID staffing shortages are real. We started with the Brussels sprouts and bacon appetizer minus the goat cheese. No cheese was my call. It's one of the few things I really hate. They were perfectly cooked. I got the shrimp etoufee and Dad got the shrimp and grits. The shrimp in both dishes came out perfectly cooked. The etoufee sauce sported too many green peppers for my taste, but the flavors worked well. The soft puffy rice made a good accompaniment. The grits on my dads plate looked and turned out to be rather grainy. But the absolute lack of salt in the grits baffled us both. We could taste the butter and cheese in the grits, but the flavor fell completely flat with no salt. My dad remedied, it easily, but it was an odd thing to completely leave out. It made us wonder if maybe they just totally forgot to add salt. While not a deal breaker, when added to the texture issue, it made the eating experience disappointing. Overall the food was good, not great or amazing. I can overlook the grits issue, I just wouldn't get them again. I was in town on business with coworkers for a week and based on recommendations this was the place to dine. As such we actually had dinner there all 3 nights of our stay. The restaurant is located in a hotel in which you enter through the main lobby. Apparently there are outdoor eating areas as well during the warmer months. Overall the restaurant had a nice ambience, very clean, organized, and classic. During each dinner experience there was a moderate crowd but did notice there were more patrons on Wednesday night. The meals were really good, hence coming back each night for dinner. The table bread was warm and delicious. Each time we ordered the artichoke dip, which was delightful. I ordered the salmon twice and the pork dish once. The sides for the pork dish was the best (the brussel sprouts and sweet potatoes purée). I requested those sides for my salmon dish as well. The salmon was cooked well but could have been done without the raspberry sauce in my opinion. Lastly the dessert options were decent but leaves something to be desired. The canalized banana custard was the best in the dessert menu. Overall I had a good dining experience with the exception of a bit of an issue (the waitress spilled some beef stew on me while serving the dishes). They were apologetic about the ordeal. read more

Wytheville, VA is a quant little town and the Graze on Main was a great little restaurant. I definitely recommend a reservation (even though just a call ahead will do)...but it is a very small place. The service was very good and the Manager stopped by to ensure all was well. I had the soup (Tomato Bisque) and Graze salad and my wife had the Shrimp & Grits. All were good.
