Never got our food, so we left. Usually do not walk out of places but did. Ridiculously slow service, have never waited so long for mexican food and they were not even busy. We didnt order anything complicated, basic off the menu items. Took ten minutes to get a glass of water? People came in a good ten to fifteen minutes behind us and got their meals before us? It was obvious there was an issue in the kitchen, and an out of sync front of the house. We wanted to pay for our drinks and go after an almost 40 minute wait for rice and beans? The staff avoided us, so we went to the bar to pay and that was even difficult, none of the staff came to help. Finally a guy from the back came out and said dont worry about the drinks? Last night was our first time here. The restaurant was very clean with a nice, friendly ambiance. Our waitress was at our table immediately and took our drink orders. My wife commented on how good the chips were. I agreed and the salsa was great. Our food arrived quickly and was piping hot (which we love). The best part of our visit was the customer service. Our waitress had a fantastic personality and checked back on us several times to see if we needed anything. If all waitresses/waiters were like her, eating out would be much more enjoyable. Happy Cinco de Mayo! We were actually staying in Fort Chiswell, but the closest Mexican restaurant was Cinco. It's a charming little place in a strip mall next to a Hampton Inn. We were greeted promptly at the door and shown to a table. Cinco has a a very colorful decor and friendly hosts and servers. There's a small bar toward the back of the restaurant. Since we weren't eating meat, vegetables were the order of the day. We were a bit thirsty so we decided to try a couple of Jugo de Aqua drinks. I got pineapple and my wife got mango. Wow the drinks were huge. I enjoyed my pineapple drink. It was a tad sweet, but had a lot of flavor, and it was ice cold. I tasted my wife's mango after she complained that it was a bit watery. She was right. It needs a little less aqua and a little more Jugo. While we are waiting for our entrées of vegetarian fajita and quesadilla, we passed the time munching on the tortilla chips and salsa. The vegetable fajita came out sizzling. They initially forgot the tortillas, but I hailed a waitress and she brought me a couple in a jiffy. We were quite impressed with the food (dinner style Mexican cuisine is something I don't eat very often, Cinco does a nice job, apparently others think so because it was quite busy by the time we left. The refried beans seemed homemade and the vegetables were seasoned well without relying on too much salt--tasty and cooked just right. My wife enjoyed her quesadilla. It had a bit too many mushrooms to her liking (she doesn't care for mushrooms), but she remarked that anything with queso can't be bad! And it was good queso. We stopped here on an interstate trip since it was close to the highway and gas. I ate my food but wouldn't come back. From the first impression, it looks relatively unimpressive with a worn out facade in a worn out strip mall. At noon on a Monday it was almost vacant. In hindsight, you can judge this book by its cover. Decor inside was nice but the place seemed very worn out. Lots of things held together by tape, paint coming off the walls, and otherwise just looking worn down. I went to the bathroom first and it was dirty and smelled like mildew. Service was fast and friendly upfront though chip and beverage refills only happened near the end of the meal when we flagged her down to ask for them. First impressions are key, and beyond the building itself, food also made a poor first impression. The chips were cold and stale and the cheese dip very runny with a weird after taste. The salsa was good and the large guac contained jalapeños and was decent. As for lunch entrees: the choripollo had a good flavor and was cooked right. The chili verde with pork was tender and seasoned well. The fajita steak was lukewarm and tough. Across the board the rice was cool and bland, and the beans were oddly pale and with almost no flavor. The sour cream tasted stale like it had been uncovered in a refrigerator for a while. This is one of those places you stop at once because you didn't know better, and never come back. The food was decent enough to fill a belly but leaves you wanting more. If there are regulars here, I assume it's only because they don't know better options are out there. On the bright side, the prices were cheap for the serving size. If you need to get a full belly for cheap, this would suit that need. read more

Not good. Do not eat here. The bathroom was a mess, there Was feces on the wall. The toilet was mosaic and hurt my eyes. i got an enchilada, and it was absolutely disgusting. There were things that came with it that it did not say on the menu. It was undercooked, and made my eyes water. There was weird brown sauce that was not good. I ended up getting a quesadilla instead, and it was even worse. the cheese was horrendous, and tasted like rubber. I could see my own reflection in it. They still charged me for both meals anyways. I was with my brother, and they completely forgot to even bring his food out, and his was no better than mine. The scenery was decent, but the whole building was half closed because of staff shortages. Would not eat here. read more

We arrived with a hunger for Mexican food. A small eatery with ample parking was acceptable. Once entering, the tables were full of patrons...good sign to me. The waitress from across the room got our attention and asked got our party size. We were seated quickly. Menus were good with pictures of featured offerings. The food was as expected nothing special. The waitress was helpful to these first-timers but a little overworked as our water glasses remained empty. The colorful inside was delightful. Alert!! If you live in (although surely the real ones know) or are staying in the Ft Chiswell Max Meadows area of Virginia off I-77/81, make sure you eat here if you like Mexican. We both got enchiladas, me the Chori, her the deluxe, both were filling with great portions and taste was amazing. Maybe the best, and certainly most unique, refried beans I've ever had. We were passing through for the holidays and stayed next door at the Hampton and were very thankful we looked into eating here. Thanks Yelp! What a delightful experience. I was driving through Virginia and wanted something that was not fast food. I saw the sign from the highway and decided to give it a try. I entered and they had great Mexican music playing. My waitress Nancy was lovely. She greeted me with a smile and made excellent menu recomendations. The food arrived quickly and was so fresh and delicious. The guacamole was perfectly seasoned. The menu choices had something for everyone's palate. I highly recommend this if you are looking for a "real meal" while on the road. My only regret is that I do not live closer. I will definitely return in the future when driving through. Gluten Intolerant Friendly!!!! My daughter can't eat gluten, nor food cross contaminated with gluten foods. I normally prefer my queso to be thick so it generously covers the chips. Chicken Mole - wasn't on menu but they happily made for me. Sauce had a nice savory chocolate flavor but no heat spice. There was hot sauce available on each table and it was perfect after a little of that bottled heat. Made with chicken breast meat. Chori-Pollo - Chorizo covered chicken. Good traditional chorizo flavor. Ribeye Steak - Daughter ordered a steak, one of the gluten free meal options. She really enjoyed it. Yellow Mexican Rice - came as standard side. It was really delicious! Margarona was good. There is something about a Corona mixed with a frozen Margarita that I love. It's my goto drink at Mexican restaurants. Large Beer was huge. Thank you for being next to the Hampton Inn and thank you for Yelp! I have to admit I'd never otherwise had tried this place. Very unassuming. In fact, I'd never even had seen this place if I hadn't pulled it up on Yelp. I don't have pics which tells you I was hungry, I devoured it, and it was too good to pause for photo ops. I ordered the chicken fajitas which were ready before I could unpack my car at the Hampton. I walked in and was surprised by a cute, vibrant place with a nice little bar area. The staff immediately greeted me and grabbed a menu, and then I informed them I was picking up my to-go order. The bartender quickly grabbed a large bag of food. I asked if they might have hot sauce, and he quickly returned with a generous portion of some likely house made hot salsa. Very good by the way! I ended up with a lot of food plus an unexpected side of chips and salsa...both were fresh and yummy. I highly suggest popping in for dinner, a drink, and it also appeared family-friendly. I bet this is frequented by locals. I honestly didn't even see a sign out front. Def check it out. read more
