Stopped here for lunch during our travels. Greeted by a friendly hostess ans served by an attentive waitress. We decided to try the buffet. Restaurant was clean and bright. Buffet food hot and appealing to the eye. Fried chicken and fried fish very good. We also tried the steamed cabbage, green beans and carrots. All were good. Nice selection of salads and desserts plus mac and cheese, bbq chicken, biscuits, cornbread etc. $12.99 for the buffet was very reasonable. We enjoyed our meal. Restaurant also sells gifts, trinkets etc. as you enter

Random exit off the freeway and found this gem. Featuring a daily buffet, working people flock to enjoy fried fish, fried chicken and pulled pork. Lots of sides. Cobbler. Kind and friendly staff. Good country food and atmostphere.

wow, what can I say. I really wanted to like this place, decor is interesting, it's clean and has live music but I just can't. Four of us sit down to dinner at 5:30, food didn't come out until almost 7. Both orders of pulled pork were cold to the touch and the brisket (see picture) had more fat than meat, and looked like it had been cooked to death in its own grease. Also, no hush puppies. In fairness, our waitress was extremely apologetic and took the three entrées off the bill. Manager never showed up despite the request. On the way out, you could see the staff stacked up in the kitchen apparently all waiting on things that may or may not ever come out ... McDonald's across the street would be a better choice.

This appears to be the hotspot of Hillsville Virginia. When we walked in we were the only customers there. By the time we finished the place was filling up. And for good reason!! There's some real southern cooking on this menu. The turnip greens, real macaroni and cheese, cabbage with ham! Meatloaf, beef liver, all sorts of deliciousness. I chose the buffet, because I couldn't decide what I wanted... I ate it all, from the salad and all the toppings, to the fried fish to the fried apples. If you ever make it to Hillsville, definitely stop at Fiddler's.

Meh. I'd dined at Shoney's before and was hesitant on trying out Fiddler's until a little time had passed after the rebranding. I was kind of surprised to walk in and see that not much AT ALL has changed. New tabletops, a few wall murals, and a different name are all that really set them apart from the original Shoney's. That being said, the menu was impressive and had lots to offer. They have gluten free sandwich and pasta options, along with traditional southern cooking. The sidewinder fries were the best thing we ate- a thick cut French fry swirled and deep fried, super good. I ordered the blackened chicken dinner with baked apples and fries. The blackened chicken was seasoned well, but I had eaten a few bites before I noticed that the chicken was not cooked all the way through... the baked apples were fresh apple slices but I'm pretty sure I was served their apple pie filling in a dish lol. It was thicker and more gelatinous than traditional baked apples. Honestly, I won't be back. Everything was okay and they're just too pricey for what you receive.

We had a large crowd on a Friday night at a family reunion and the Resturant really helped see us and provided us a great place to enjoy a family dinner. I ordered a Philly steak and cheese sandwich and it was surprisingly awesome. They had an amazing dinner and salad bar, which looked really great as well. Great place to pull off of the interstate to have a nice meal.

Travelling along , we saw the sign for Fiddlers restaurant & decided to stop. I'm so glad we did. We were warmly welcomed along with our rescue pup . We all enjoyed a delicious meal. I had my first slice of Kentucky Bourbon pie it was delicious! Victoria was excellent & attentive in her service . I appreciated the water for my pup. We love music & were delighted to learn of the music played here. I hope & pray our travels bring us here again. Thank you & God bless Ya'll Pr. Michelle Free 24/7 prayer line: 866-987-7729

In the middle of nowhere VA we took a gamble on this place being open for breakfast on a Sunday morning. Ignore the breakfast menu and hit the buffet: 2 hangry adults with (really good) coffee set us back $31 + tip. Our waitress was super pleasant and noticeably attentive to all the other patrons, and the lady attending to the buffet kept the area spotlessly clean and items freshly rotated. The only "meh" was the hostess. She seemed frazzled, was rather snippy in speaking to guests and other staff and was the only oddity in an otherwise calm, welcoming and overall peaceful environment. We'd stop again.

The trio platter - the pulled pork was really good along with the Mac & Cheese

Some of my many favorites is the cabbage, the roast beef, fried chicken and mashed potatoes. I could go on. The cabbage is absolutely the best! Made just like my mother used to make. Absolutely have not been able to find that anywhere else! The Chicken is delicious! Crispy and moist like I love with such great flavor! The Roast beef, oh man this needs no review if you have ever tried it! If you haven't , you must! And the mashed potatoes are so great I always eat too much of that. Frankly, I have yet to try something that was not exceptional! I could eat here everyday if it was not so far away for me. But the trip is well worth it. These times require extra precautions and I see them taking things seriously so I feel quite comfortable eating at Golden Corral. With all the other places doing only drive thru or take out, it is a great break to be able to sit down and eat in the restaurant. If you have tried the one in Mt Airy NC, you should! I fully recommend!

She was embarrassed as she literally scowled at him with a huff because she was already coming with them. The food was just old.. the place wasnt packed so there was no need for the workers to keep an eye on the food that was dried out!! Even the boiled potatoes werent cooked fully, they were hard as a rock. Its almost as if the place doesnt care yet wants to charge $50 for 3 people to eat... and ya cant eat when the food is disgustingly hard and dried out! That night my husband who usually eats mine and our daughters share of food... didnt eat hardly anything because of how nasty the food was that day. Unless they begin caring about their customers and their experience... they shouldn't be charging so much for old crusty food.

The selections were much fewer and a lot greasier than they had been in the past and despite being a fairly busy Thursday at peak dinner hours turnover was fairly slow and many items had been out for a while and not restocked. The place has gone downhill a bit from what it had been before what I understand to be changing hands several times. It filled me up but the food was nothing special and I dont think ill be going back unless something big changes. I miss how it used to be, it used to be a small hidden gem of a buffet but perhaps in this economy that just cant be expected to last. But the price was fairly reasonable and I may have just hit it at a bad time. Caveat emptor, but I wouldnt bring my friends here if tonight was an example of normal service. On the bright side, the hibachi chicken, general Tso's chicken and pepper steak were all surprisingly good, though the sushi seemed like it had been out for a while and i doubt my cat would go for it.

I got hungry and decided to head to the closet town to me, and happened upon this place after getting some gas and snacks at a gas station heading into town. My girlfriend is not from North Carolina, so I wanted to give her some NC BBQ experience, and this place DID not disappoint, in fact, they inspired me to smoke my own baked potatoes at home, who knew the smoker could make a mean baked potato? Well, these guys (and gals) apparently. The inside is a typical NC BBQ joint - old cigarette advertisements, as well as Pepsi, metallic sculptures, folk art and the like. We both got sandwiches, as it was just lunch and we had a nice dinner at home planned, so I got the brisket sandwich, and she got the pulled pork, both were good, but we both really enjoyed the brisket. The sauces on offer were also great, I tried them all, as a few were to spicy for her, but none the less, they all had great flavor and depth, and even the spicy ones had different elements other than "heat". The star of the show was the "Smoked mashed potatoes" they potatoes on the smoker and smoke them for a few hours and then turn them into mash with butter, some cream and garlic and onion power, topped with cheese these mashed potatoes changed my world. As I said at the start of this review, I will be copying this idea at home, very shamelessly. I am glad I spotted them, and even happier that our lovely waitress told me they were life changing.
