We always enjoy eating here and it's typically pretty good. This most recent visit started with hot and fresh hush puppies with butter and then we ordered. Everyone's food was good, but I was a little bummed with my own. I wanted popcorn shrimp, but buffalo. I got popcorn shrimp that was not even warm, wasn't crispy-more like soggy, and was coated in a sauce that was a translucent oily something. No heat other than black pepper. I asked for it to be warmed and they did just that, nuked it and it came back at a warmer temp, but the food was still mid. I would go back of course, but I'll opt for some other dish the next time. The atmosphere is fun and a neat place to go, so definitely give them a try. The servers are always fantastic and on top of things. read more

Called before driving up to the restaurant, to confirm we would be seated if we came. Drove 28 min and arrived 15 min before stated closing time. Refused to seat us when we arrived.. They don't actually close at 9. Apparently they close whenever they choose. read more

Had a great time here at Pirates Landing while I was here in the area. Such a laid-back restaurant that you and the family would love. The food was really great, along with amazing customer service. We all enjoyed our food. Nothing like getting your belly full of tasty seafood after a wine tour:) Everything was good, we enjoyed dining here during our visit. read more

I brought a special pirate friend with me. We had the broiled seafood platter and chocolate cheesecake dessert. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was fun. It's nice to see a place go the extra mile in making everything look so fun. Loved the treasure chest, and how the inside looks like a ship, with decks on different levels. The weather was perfect outside too. It would be really to eat out on the deck. Maybe they'll have outdoor eating in the future. read more

We were in the area visiting wineries and decided to pop back in to Pirates Landing for dinner. It's been a while since we were last here. We were seated immediately and our server quickly took our order (a good way to soak up the wine!). I went "all in" and got the "Buccaneer's Fried Seafood Feast". Not necessarily healthy, but some serious comfort food! Our food arrived quickly, super hot, and was very tasty! This is a true family-style restaurant. read more

Pirate's Landing Elkin NC It seems that Theofanis K. Kakouras made a great decision in opening Pirate's Landing in Elkin, NC. No doubt there is an art and science to staffing this property in NC mountains. Outstanding: Dinner salad, fresh baked bread, service and tonight Pirate's Pasta - linguine, marina, shrimp, scallops, clams, and mussels. Kakoura does not skimp on the shrimp and other seafood. My darling wife would greatly enjoy this pasta dish. Leah, our accomplished server is a great ambassador for Pirates Landing, and we suggest that Kakoura offer tastings to servers in order for them to offer recommendations. Pirate's Landing is a faux pirate ship, and is large with several dining areas. Suggest hostess stay on task and not stray. Pirate's Landing is a great venue for kids and their parents. We appreciate the large on-site parking lots. Menu features a variety of seafood at very interesting prices. Initially, I was thinking three stars, and as evening came together awarded five stars. Pirates Landing is walking distance from our hotel, Marriott Fairfield Inn, but most diners will be happier to take the one mile drive. Thanks Theo; We'll be back. read more

You figure a place like this is gonna be either really great or really meh. Well it was really great! The atmosphere is spot on and fun. I had read in other Yelp reviews that the hush puppies were good. I consider myself something of a hush puppy connoisseur and they did not disappoint. I ordered the William Kidd, which is a piece of flounder alongside popcorn shrimp. Both the flounder and the shrimp were perfectly cooked and delicious. The baked potato was a nice accompaniment. We left full and satisfied and planning to return with family. read more

The food was quite good! The service was fine, maybe a little weird. Appropriate wait time for all parts of service. The only problem I had was the smell when we walked in, smelled like a dirty bathroom, and maybe someone tried to clean it a little. read more

I remember going here when I was little and just being in complete amazement at how cool this restaurant is, the outside of the building and the inside gives you an old pirate ship vibe, which is so cool!! Had seen a recommendation for this restaurant so while in the area thought we would try. Food is mediocre at best. Seafood is heavily breaded with some seafood undercooked in middle. I ordered stuffed flounder which was okay but nothing special. I had to literally go towards the kitchen to ask someone for ketchup for my fries. The place is also not sanitary. We watched a table cleaner simply wipe everything onto the floor. Our waitress was nice but took a break in middle of our meal so we couldn't find her for the catsup. The hush puppies were the best thing there. Will not go back read more

Air conditioner was out in part of the building, but that I understood. Not a lot of customers but yet took forever to get a waiter. Staff was standing around and in no hurry to wait on customers. Ordered sweet tea with lemon. Tea got there with no lemon and we asked the waiter for lemons and he took his sweet time bringing them to us. Brings out the cheese sticks after we had already gotten up and gone up front to pay for our drinks and leave. Was charged for the cheese sticks even though we didn't get to enjoy them. read more

I went there for lunch today. This was my first time. The food and service was excellent, and the prices were reasonable. I will go back!

Good food, good service, and a unique and fun atmosphere! it's a great dinner spot when traveling.

Pirates Landing seemed like a fun place to eat with the pirate theme. It was close to the hotel as well so very convenient. When you arrive you will see the "ship" but just keep driving around to the large parking lot. The building is not fancy or elaborate. Outside has a water feature with the lily pad and fish as well as themed decor. Inside had much more decor. The hostess wasn't the friendliest but my waitress was the sweetest. She wasn't the most attentive at first as I think she was new and a little nervous but then she found her groove and was excellent. I couldn't decide whether to get seafood or steak. There were some combos available but I went with the filet mignon and a sweet potato that came with butter and cinnamon. I don't think I received a filet but another cut. It tasted really good though just wasn't as tender as a filet would be. The sweet potato was delicious and they provided a lot of cinnamon. I put it all on which was likely too much. The hush puppies were very good that were brought to the table. A salad was part of the meal as was a roll. I preferred the hush puppies to the roll. I'd eat here again. read more

Got the prime rib. Had the consistency and taste of old moldy boot leather. Took one bit and sent it back. Owner came out and admitted it was not good. At that point i was ready to leave because the whole ordeal took way too long and my wife was done eating. Got the prime rib for half off. Shouldn't have paid a dime since I only had one bite. read more

This place is amazing! It's not often that you can eat aboard a pirate ship! It is unique and fun for adults, but kids would have to live this setting!! The food was delicious. Possibly the best hush puppies ever! The service was equally good. A shout out to our server, Bethany, for the excellent treatment. read more

Worst meal I have ever had at a restaurant! For starters the crab dip had no flavor. A lot of plump crab in a thin cream sauce. The salads were the best part of the meal, but did not have croutons as described on the menu. My husband ordered the steak and shrimp and I chose the Baked Seafood Newburg. The concoction I was served was inedible, diced fish with some skin still on, imitation crab, rubbery scallops cut in half and very tiny shrimp. Cream sauce was not flavorful at all. My husband's steak was very thin and fatty, he said it reminded him of the Dollar Tree ribeyes. Vegetables were cold and oily. We both walked away hungry and disappointed. First and last time we will eat at Pirates Landing. read more

I've driven by Pirates Landing for years. Finally I stopped and the steak was amazing. The server was quick and checked on this regularly. The place has a feel like being on a sailboat a pirate sailboat that is great place worth the stop value for the food is great. Add it to your list. You won't be disappointed. read more

We came for Mother's Day and expected the wait however we did not expect once seated that we would be staying an extended amount of time. It was incredibly cold and almost miserable to try to eat. read more

This place is very fun! I love the themed decor so much that I wanted to come here for my birthday meal while we were visiting the area! That being said, don't get any of the fried platters. 0/10 not good. I mean, look, come here for the aesthetic because it IS super duper fun! But keep your food expectations very, very low. Recommendations: Get a new chef and a liquor license please. This place could easily be a lucrative tourist attraction with a line out the door if the food tasted good and you had a couple of fruity umbrella drinks on the menu. read more

It was OK nothing great nothing bad service was good. I wouldn't go out of my way, but I wouldn't avoid it either.

The food was very good. The chopped steak burger was excellent. Fun atmosphere inside too.

Pirates Landing is the definition of that place where the locals eat! They don't have a fancy building, but the food is outta sight! Had the BEST shrimp I think I've ever had, the service was friendly and food was quick. When you drive up and see the parking lot full, you know the food has to be good, and they did not disappoint. We're headed back down to St. George Island for 2 weeks in May and we'll probably go here 3-4 times, it's that good! You have to check it out, you'll thank me for it! read more

The service was horrible, our meals came out in five minutes. What's the problem with this? It was steak and seafood. How do you prepare that in five minutes? My friend told the waitress he is allergic to onions and guess what he got. Here is the kicker. She never brought out the salads but it didn't matter because the food would have beat it anyway. Stay on the highway, don't waist your time and money. I won't mention the water downed dressing free finally brought me read more

The reviews for the food at this restaurant are all over the place, but, I took a chance and talked the husband into trying it anyway since about half of the people were pleased as punch with their food. I will start with the hush puppies which were brought to the table before ordering: they were small and super sweet like a doughnut; and greasy, greasy.... Gross. I got the fried shrimp as my entree: they were heavily breaded and way overcooked. I think they were frozen because they had no flavor at all . I also ordered a baked potato, which was cold, and the coleslaw was super super sweet and not fresh tasting. If you do not know how to make decent coleslaw- Please take it off your menu! I am so sick and tired of seafood restaurants that MAKE us get the coleslaw as our side for seafood and the chef (nor the owner, manager, nor staff) must have ever bothered to taste it! To sum it up... the atmosphere is OK and really pretty neat, the service was adequate, but , If you are a seafood restaurant and can't serve fresh seafood cooked properly, I don't understand why you are in business as a seafood restaurant! I cannot recommend this restaurant for the food, but if you want a beverage and to check out the atmosphere; why not? read more

sooooo, stopped here with my kids on the way to Myrtle Beach. Ordered blackened tuna steak which the waiter stated was "really good". The "tuna steak" came out and looked like a piece of a human foot. it had about 2 specs of seasoning and had the appearance as if it came straight out of the freezer of a local mortuary. If you're related to Jeffrey Dahmer, then this is the place for you to eat. They offered to take 5 bucks off of my bill because I refused to eat the human body part. I would highly recommend going straight to a funeral home to get a fresh piece of meat. Run away from this place. I'd truly would rather eat a horse dick. read more

We had so much fun here! My kids thought it was the neatest place. We spent awhile outside after our meal listening to the live music from the rocking chairs while my kids looked at the fish. All of our food was wonderful some of the beat seafood I've had not at the beach. They were pretty slow for a Saturday night and we had no wait time. Food was served to our table steaming hot. Salad was large and yummy. We didn't have the best waitress but the food made up for it. I loved how the inside really felt like it's a ship. They even allowed me to take my kids upstairs to look at the cannons and walk ways up there. Will definitely be back again. read more

Good food. Found this place on my way to Charlotte. Got the blackened mahi mahi must say it was very good

One of the biggest things in business is location. So it is ironic that this place oddly stand out. A Seafood Restaurant in North Carolina just off the exit with not much else around. The food was EXCELLENT, service was also EXCELLENT. Highly recommended! Ambiance is that of a Pirate ship, cool. read more

This food is just passable but it's very expensive for what it is. We got a bait and switch going on for charges on the senior menu. Which ends up being no cheaper if you have to pay for sour cream... which was two dollars extra....they would not allow me to not have a baked potato but to have steamed vegetables ....which I had to pay $4 extra dollars for. And when they came it was a little more than half a cup of zucchini and yellow squash. It says it comes with a baked potato but we were charged extra... crazy place. My recommendation is to keep on driving. read more

Saw many positive ratings on Google but after having dinner here and looking again but focusing on negative ratings, it was consistent with my experience. Finding a little pieces of shells in crab cake was nothing compared to being served fish that wasn't fresh. The calamari was amazing.
