Seriously, I came to write a review on this place, and figured there would already be a ton of shining reviews! How can I possibly be the first!? Oh yeah, we're talking about Boise here - get up with the YELP, Boise! Well, if you need any eye care at all, this is absolutely the place to come. I was a patient of Dr. Cleverly for years, and he was always so thorough and professional. I was always confident in the accuracy of my prescription and the care I received. I'm super squirmy about my eyes, and he's always patient. Since moving out of state, I have looked far and wide for an optomotrist that could stack up. Comparing these other guys to BVC has made me realize what a gem this place really is. The gals that help out with frame fitting and ordering are amazing, its always clean there vs. some of the places I've been with a bunch of old dusty frames on the wall - and the selection is up to date and amazing! I have NEVER walked away feeling uneasy about the frame I'm selecting - you know, wondering if something way better is to be found elsewhere? Nope. Super happy, and I always get compliments on my glasses. Even since moving away, I have come back to BVC when visiting family in Boise to order my annual glasess covered on insurance. I always get the most friendly and warm service, and always find what I'm looking for. I don't know everyone's names, but I will say that just today, Vicki took 15 minutes over the phone to help me get a pair of sunglasses that I'm hoping to pick up when I come to visit soon. Who even does that anymore? This was after calling at least 8 eye places in my vicinity, none of which carried the brand I need, and if they did were not willing to order the exact frame I want without removing my insurance frame allowance benefit from the sale. WHAT? I pay so much for insurance so that I can get the glasses I want and need, and Boise Vision Care goes above and beyond to help keep customers happy and coming back. read more

My glasses were replaced only four months after purchasing them, when getting them replaced I had glued my glasses together, and was told not to do that if they needed replacing again, and that they'd be covered. Lo and behold, when the replacement frame also broke (again, in well under six months. Talk about craftsmanship) I was given a runaround about how they are no longer under warranty (due to the fact they're a replacement frame) and was asked if I'd like to purchase another pair. Of course my insurance wouldn't cover a second pair so for their shoddy craftsmanship I was kindly told I could take the nearly 200 dollars I spent the first time and shove it up my ass. To say I am underwhelmed would be an understatement, everything wrong with optometrists in general and specifically what I wanted to avoid not going back to a chain location. Thanks for showing you aren't worth the extra over America's Best or Stanton Optical. "Care is in our name and all we do..." is apparently a misnomer because all we can do is smugly tell you that you can waste more money buying another pair of glasses that will last six months. read more

One of the most frustrating experiences I've had with any healthcare provider. I went in needing prescription safety glasses for work--something that's not optional, but absolutely essential for me to do my job safely--and the whole process has been a mess from start to finish. There's been a serious lack of urgency, poor communication, and multiple delays with no clear answers. When something is this critical, you expect a higher level of professionalism and attention to detail. Instead, I've been left waiting, following up constantly, and still don't have what I need to safely do my job. What's disappointing is that this could easily be a five-star experience with some basic improvements. Following through on client requests, setting clear expectations on timelines, communicating proactively about delays, and treating urgent needs with the priority they deserve would make a huge difference. Patients shouldn't have to chase down updates or feel like their situation isn't being taken seriously. I was told my glasses would be ready in two weeks and we're rolling on five weeks now with no other answer other than the lab messed up. There's definitely potential here, but until that level of accountability and communication is in place, I can't recommend this office--especially if your needs are time-sensitive or critical for your work. They actually had the audacity to explain to my wife when she questioned where my glasses were, that I added a bunch of additional services to my glasses. Let's get one thing very clearly understood, all of the services that I had added, were recommendations! It's not like I walked off the street and demanded these things be done. They are actually services offered by this facility. I have zero issues reversing this review and turning it to a five star review if they could just follow through with what "they sold me"!!! It honestly just feels like my situation isn't being taken seriously, which is honestly unacceptable given what's at stake. If you need something important handled quickly and correctly, I'd strongly recommend looking elsewhere. read more

The pair of glasses I received were purposefully underpowered because they assumed I was a first time progressives wearer even though I'd worn them for years. After politely complaining about it they sent me a letter saying they were discontinuing our relationship. Well, there's a first time for everything. I had an eye health situation come up and reached out to Boise Vision Care for help. They were booked up for weeks. Once I explained what was going on they asked if I could come in that afternoon. I was told I might have to wait a bit after arriving, as they found room to squeeze me in for an exam. I was greeted by friendly, helpful staff, and actually only waited a few moments before being taken back to be assessed. Once Dr. Denison looked over the results, he was able to talk with me about what I was experiencing. Dr. Denison was easy going, but was very thorough in explaining my situation, which turned out to be less critical than I feared. Used the poor business practice of charging for a contact exam only to refused to give out the prescription until they spend a month or longer to decide if you should even have contacts. Forcing you to wait for them even after informing them that you have worn contacts for years and are just updating your prescription. read more

This is a place that defines excellent care, what a great experience. The staff is prompt and genuinely friendly, but what impressed me most is how thoroughly I was cared for, yet my appointment moved along with no delay. The doctor had no problem taking the time to answer my questions, and the front desk had my insurance already figured out. This office also feels like it's staying up with new technology. I was able to avoid having my eyes dilated, and no air puff! The icing on the cake was the great frame selection! The ladies in the optical department were so helpful- not pushy. The whole process was painless, I'd even go as far as saying it was enjoyable, even the decor makes you feel good. Oh and to top it off I got a $20 gift card to Texas Road House for referring my mom. I have had to wear glasses my whole life and have been to a lot of different places over the years. This is the best. The staff is always very friendly and is very knowledgeable in insurance matters. Been going for over 5 years now and will continue to do so. I refuse to get my eyeglasses from a Wal*Mart doc in the box. Been there - done that - and my eyes are much better for it. I have acute prism disorder which makes getting the right lens just right or my eyes get very tired at the end of the day... since I've gone to BVC, my eyes are doing better! Just moved from out of state and needed to find an eye doctor. I called and was able to get in the very next day. The staff and Doctor Denison were amazing. Dr. Denison answered all of my questions and gave me a super thorough exam. I went in there worried and he assured me I was fine and just found a few minor issues and could explain things that my other doctor just said was "normal". I do not have Heath insurance currently but paid for my visit and glasses in full and was given a nice discount. Great staff, amazing Doctor and a very clean environment. I had the best exam ever and was cared for by a wonderful team. They looked up my insurance and explained my benefits to me, the doctor listened to my concerns and gave me two prescriptions; one for work for my computer and one for driving. The optical department had a great selection of frames and the process was easy. I got my glasses back from the lab when they were promised and the vision is great with them.
