I have been in glasses since 1979, so I've been around the block with several types of eye doctors, surgeons, billing practices, eye wear options and office staff at several different vision care centers. I'm confident in saying that Six One Six is by far, one of the best vision care facilities I have ever been to. I came here because they were one of the few places that took my horrible vision insurance from a previous job I had. I finally moved companies and now have exceptional coverage, yet found no reason to switch providers, regardless of the abundance of in-network and closer vision options to me. I have never experienced any issues regarding care, appointments, communication or billing in the 4 years I've been a customer. In fact, I've experienced exceptionally personalized, professional and authentic care from day one. I've had the absolute pleasure of being Dr Shelby Strick's patient from the get-go and am consistently comforted by her attention to detail, assurance and easy-to-understand explanation on everything I'm experiencing. Allie is usually the one that takes care of me with picking out eyewear, fittings and reviewing my bill. She is truly exceptional...with her patience, support to ensure you're getting what you need within budget (but still looking hot in your specs) and most of all, how approachable and friendly she is. Time for an update of this awesome optometrist office in Eagle. I cannot rave enough of this high quality office. Dr Shelby is awesome! She is very in tune with dialing in my very complicated prescription. This is our third year of visits for our whole family and everyone is very happy with this office. I usually get contacts each year but decided to get glasses this time. I don't know what magic was done but my new glasses are perfect. My old glasses were from Costco and worked ok but nothing as close in performance and quality for the more pricey version from Six one six. I could suggest that they get more frame selections to choose from but miraculously if you find one perfect pair, there is no need for too many choices. read more

Dr. Lauren Huber and her team were warm, welcoming and informative. we recently visited so that I could have my eyes examined along with my three-year-old son, and everyone was so patient with him and made me feel at ease when getting his eyes looked at. Dr. Huber also validated some of the concerns I have had regarding the health of my eyelid. It was so nice to not only have a thorough exam, but to have a doctor take the time to listen to my concerns and refer me to somebody who could help me get more information. Name derived from the last three digits of Eagle's zip code - if you're wondering as I was - the Vision Center is comprised of the optometry practices of husband and wife owners and optical store run by an experienced optician. Both are located in the same sparkling and welcoming interior in a little bit hard to find location in Eagle. Our experience has been with the optical piece of this business and if you're in the market for eyeglasses and haven't found Six One Six yet, I recommend seeking it out for quality brands you are unlikely to easily find elsewhere in the Boise area and top notch customer service. SERVICE: My husband and I have been in a couple of times when in the market for eyeglass frames and while we have yet to find the just right frame for us we are big fans of the quality brands carried here and also impressed with the optician, Jay, for his expertise in the product lines he carries and also for advice in helping his clients choose frames not to mention his welcoming friendliness and wit. Jay wears glasses himself - cool ones - and has the expert eye to offer advice on what works and doesn't for each person across age groups from little kids to seniors for people who consider quality and style in eyewear. My spouse and I have both been wearing glasses since our childhood years - so multiple decades - and have enough experience to recognize a skilled optician as is Jay. The only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is as yet is we haven't made a purchase and we feel for optical services having the glasses made and fit is always necessary to get to that 5 star. But were we evaluating on service and expertise alone, 5 stars it would be. (My hubby has his eye on a brand or two here for his eyeglass update this spring.) PRODUCT: While this is a small shop with a smaller inventory of the artisan quality brands carried - like State, Salt, La Font, Nifty, Fysh - the selection is always evolving. The frames are on shelves with public display so you can access them to try them yourself if you want to do that and Jay is always helpful in pulling things that you might not consider on your own for a style fit but which he has the expertise to recommend. The product lines include an array of sizes in men's and women's frames and what I particularly appreciate as a person who wears the smaller end of frames for women which can be very hard to find in in store inventories, he typically has several displayed along with what seems to be the more average population sizes that are larger. Same for men's options. If I had a child who needed glasses I'd for sure come see Jay to look at his display of great frames for children. And for what I've observed as a knack for working with kids of all ages. He has shared with us about his younger brother's need to wear glasses from the time he was two years old and how difficult it was back in those days for his brother to find glasses - maybe that's from where Jay's interest springs in helping parents and children find cool and comfortable frames. IF I WERE QUEEN: I'd wave my scepter and have Barton Perreria and Bevel frames (in that order of preference) added to the lines here. PARKING: Private lot. ACCESSIBILITY: Parking lot is awkward (that is the mall owner's issue) for location of ADA parking but it is there. The interior is all on one floor with ample floor space. The try on table is at standing or high chair / bar height and is not accessible. (Kids would have to be lifted up on to the seating I imagine given the height.) Accessible seating is adjacent in office area in the same room. LOCATION TIP: Same strip mall location as Panache Eagle hair salon - one building away. I moved to Boise two years ago from north Idaho and the biggest thing I've noticed about Dr. Strick is her standard of care is so much higher than what I've experienced in rural Idaho. I've never felt like an eye doctor really listened to my concerns about my eyes, especially related to headaches with glasses, but Dr. Strick answered a lot of my questions and taught me some new things about how contacts interact with the eye! The office also has an eye imaging system which negates the need for getting your eyes dilated and answers a lot of questions about the health of the eye over time. I really found this interesting to go over with Dr. Strick and it put my mind at ease about how my nearsightedness might affect my eyes in the future. Overall, I highly recommend Dr. Strick and 616 Vision Center. The patient portal, text reminders, and online paperwork options are really convenient! read more

From the moment I walked in the door to the moment I left, this was such a great experience! My appointment was with Dr. Ryan. He was very professional. He gave options as we discussed my needs and wants and he asked if I had questions. I left with a trial lens to wear for several days to see how I liked them. I wasn't pushed to purchase anything without being sure it was right. I loved the help I received from Jay helping me choose frames. He was attentive and helped me pick the right size and shape for my face. I have worn glasses since I was five. Contacts since 13. After having moved to Eagle last year and searching for new everything, I am completely satisfied with Six One Six and will recommend them to anyone I know. read more

I seldom write a review, but this one has made me a bit mad. I am extremely disappointed in this business for several reasons. First, I think I paid WAY TOO MUCH. My one pair of glasses was $1,105. Yikes! Don't you think that's a lot of $$$$ to pay for one pair of glasses? My sales gal said, well at least you saved $606.50 because your insurance paid that amount. :) That meant I was out-of-the-pocket $498.50. That too seems like A LOT of money to me. Anyway, I was told that I would have my glasses in two weeks. I ordered and paid for them on April 13th, 2023. It is now May 19th and I still do not have them. A few weeks ago I received a follow-up call from this company. I was told that my glasses would be delayed until May 17th. I gently asked for some sort of discount, or at least some 'sort of compensation'... especially due to the high price I paid for the glasses and their inability to deliver the glasses to me as agreed upon... on time. They said no discount could/would be given. I then asked about cancelling my order. They said it was too late to cancel because they had already charged the insurance company to get their money. Since then, no one has called me back for an update. (It is now May 19th.) Therefore, I contacted this company again today to see when I might get my glasses. They said my 'paid for' glasses should probably be available at the end of next week (which will then be the end of May). I will believe it when I see it. Personally, I think this is terrible service. I will never use Six One Six Vision Center again. I would suggest you too would consider following my advice. I LOVE this place. I have had horrible eyesight almost my entire life and I was bummed when my 13 y/o started complaining about not being able to see. It's not fun to wear glasses, but going to the eye doctor is usually a drag, especially when they dilate your eyes. Well, lo and behold, you don't have to do that anymore! At least not here. It costs extra money outside of insurance, but they just take a picture with an intense camera. Couple that with the fact that everyone there is amazing (we specifically saw Dr. Lauren Huber, but we did spend time with each person there for different things) and this process actually just became enjoyable. They have a beautiful, comfortable office and a large selection of frames as well. This just became exclusively where our family will be going to get eye care. Five stars because Dr. Ryan and J are awesome! The location is nestled in the back of the parking lot so I ended up driving around the stupid roundabout twice (my bad) but I did eventually find it. The reception area is clean and well-lit with modern decor; very stark, and not my bag but for those who really like the minimalist look, I could see the appeal. We were greeted by the front desk guy, Jay, who was super silly and friendly. He did great with my daughter (5 years old) and before we left they were old friends. Full of quips and puns, this guy will either get you smiling within minutes or annoy the hell out of you depending on your mood. Since it's not PMS time, smiling-in-minutes was my choice. In my opinion, the selection of frames offered sat well with the whole "minimalist" feel of the store so it was small and if my little one had needed glasses, I may have gone elsewhere for the frames; not a lot of kid choices. That being said, neither me nor my daughter needed glasses so...nevermind. Nix this entire paragraph. Moving on. Dr. Ryan had an easy way about him, introducing himself to my daughter as an individual rather than greeting only me and acknowledging her with a nod (something we get a lot of). Points for that. We turned down the dilation (we only do it every other year) and there was no pressure or frown lines on his face. The exams went quickly and again, his skill with children was evident. When she got squirrely while I got my exam done, he got her some magna tiles to keep her entertained. For me, I'm an adult so I can kinda suck it up if the professional is less than stellar; but with my daughter, because we are establishing good habits with dental and eye checkups on schedule it is important to me that the person working with her is GOOD with her. Dr. Ryan fit that bill nicely. Bonus? Picking from the treasure chest after the exam (for my daughter, not me). Overall, a great place to get your annual exam. I came to see Dr Huber for a routine eye exam because I was suspecting I needed some reading glasses due to unfortunately growing old and getting antique eyeballs! I have limited experience with eye doctors, but the staff was very friendly and the facility was brand new and very clean and updated. My only reason for not giving 5 stars is because of the limited frame selection they had... Only a few higher-end brands, which for me, just needing readers, wasn't exactly what I was looking for. I am a new patient to Shelby Strick OD. I can't say enough good things about her. I moved here from Las Vegas went to the biggest eye physicians there, needed contacts for both visions and all they recommended was mano vision and they said but that can be hard to get used to. When I came to Shelby Strick and told her I need contacts I will try mano vision she said why do you want that, she tried contact out for me that changed my life like I was 20 again not mano vision:). I was not happy with my previous doctor, so I went to Six One Six and I am now much happier with the results. I am new to contacts and it has been hard finding some that work well. We are still in the process of finding the right ones, but at least the doctor showed me how to take the contacts in and out correctly. Which my previous one did not. read more

Look no further - Six One Six is the best! My 11 year old refused to wear contacts because they made her eyes "uncomfortable" and she just didn't like to wear her glasses. We argued for over a year until I found Six One Six. Dr. Huber was SO helpful and kind with her - trying out different contacts and seeing her 4-5 times until they found a brand that didn't bother her.
