    #5 Lamb Hot Soup

Love the fact they have individual pots and let you order drinks from Jin Tea Shop next door! Their pots are a little pricey, but honestly do make sense for the fact they are individual pots. They are also secretly big in my opinion. Would go back!

This is my favorite Boiling Point in the SGV. Before COVID, there was always a long line, but nowadays it's not as bad. I used to really love coming here for their brown rice, which was more like a mixed-grain rice to me. Unfortunately, they got rid of it some time ago, which was a bummer. This Boiling Point is probably the smallest location you'll find. The tables are very close together, making it uncomfortable to sit here--you're only about half an arm's length away from the next table. It definitely feels cramped inside. I came here with a friend to take advantage of a deal where you get a free drink and appetizer for completing a survey at the end of the meal. However, the deal was limited to one use per table. We ordered our hot pots, a pork belly in garlic sauce as the appetizer, and an Assam oolong tea. Because the table was so small, fitting everything we ordered felt like a game of Tetris. The tea at 50% sweetness tasted a bit light. The garlic pork belly, however, was actually good, and the hot pots were tasty as usual. The staff members were patient in answering my questions about the deal and were generally attentive to our needs. Parking is usually easy, as there's a parking lot across the street about half a block away. Because of its proximity to my home and the quality of the food, I tend to overlook the space issue and continue coming back to this Boiling Point.

Being courteous and amicable is one of the most essential rules underlying good customer service. Always welcome customers with a smile and a respectful demeanour. Food came out fast and tasted great! Good job boiling point Pasadena.

Never misses. The broth is packed with flavor, rich, and perfectly seasoned comfort food at its finest. Ingredients are always fresh, portions are solid, and everything comes out hot and satisfying. The staff is friendly and keeps things moving even when it's busy, which I appreciate. This is my go-to spot when I want something warming, flavorful, and consistently good. Highly recommend if you're in the area and craving hot pot done right.

My friends claimed this location is the BEST out of all the Boiling Point locations and I can finally see why. I got seafood and both of my friends got the Taiwanese spicy. It was very tasty and I can see why it's better than their other locations. They also gave some kind of seaweed appetizer while we waited for our food. We came at the right time, around 4:30pm on a Sunday, so we got a table right away. Service was fast. We all decided this will be our stop after every backpacking trip from now on!

What We Ordered: #4 Beef Hot Pot $22.73 This is our go-to order at Boiling Point. I wasn't in the mood, but my wife always wants it. Happy wife, happy life, right?! We split one Beef Hot Pot for the three of us, and it was plenty. My wife and son were full, but I was saving room for pizza. It didn't make sense to order two pots. We got our money's worth! We came here specifically because it's a concept location. It was similar to other Boiling Points, but the service was great. At our usual location in MPK, we have to flag down servers. The servers here were attentive and nice! This location is called a concept because they have a tea shop next door. You can order drinks from your server, which is a perk. Another perk is the complimentary seaweed dish and the free drink shot when you pay. We really enjoyed this Boiling Point and would definitely return!

Good soup to have in the area, especially if you had a small meal before. I highly suggest that you get something mild, because you can always make it spicier later. Service was slow, but I won't put it against the waiters because it seemed that most were new.

This is my umpteenth time visiting Boiling Point and they never disappoint. Yesterday was unusual as the fire alarm in the condos above were going off, but the restaurant was still open for business. The fire department finally arrived and we had a great experience. For two people we orders the miso with extra beef! It was enough for two people...They even come around to add more broth to your hot pot. BE CAREFUL: Broth is very hot! The perfect lunch after an eventful morning! We came here to eat lunch on a hot day and was pleasantly surprised with the nice AC and good food. We both ordered beef soups and were planning on giving the kid some too. Our waitress surprised us with a complimentary udon noodle soup with bok choy! We still shared some of our yummy beef and fish cakes though. Since we came for lunch, we also got two free drinks included (winter melon juice or roasted oolong tea). We decided to upgrade for just $2.50 for a full tea from Jin next door! As this is one of our favorite boba spots in pasadena, we thought the $5 total for two drinks was a total STEAL! Overall this place is well maintained and run. Come for lunch and stay for yummy soup, free drinks, and complimentary chia seed dessert!

I love this franchise and all things hotpot. My favorite pot at boiling point is the beef pot, but the individual hot pots allow everyone at the table to eat their favorite things. You can customize your order by choosing a select pot, your spice level, and whether you want vermicelli or rice as a side. There's also a small complimentary seaweed appetizer at this specific location, which was a tasty treat! I'd recommend eating here at lunch because they offer free green tea for lunch orders. This location had very attentive staff. We got our food quickly and didn't have to wait long. The interior was cozy and casual, while also offering boba drinks from the next door shop.

I love hot pots and whenever I want something that I don't have to the all the cooking I go to boiling point. Everything's so tasty. The broths are all good but I tend to go towards tomato or spicy ones. Looks like a lot of food for one person but I would say it's the perfect amount.

    Taiwanese Spicy Hot Soup

This was probably my third time having hot pot. I'm generally not a fan of food with a lot of spices, but this place's hot pots weren't overly spiced and were still full of flavor. We shared a milk curry cream and a Taiwanese spicy between the two of us. The Taiwanese spicy only comes in a flaming level, and I had a hard time with it -- it's no joke. There were plenty of toppings inside, so we left feeling full. I'd give it 4.5 stars, but the service was below average.

    Yasmeen S.

Out of all the Boiling Point locations I've been to - and I've been to quite a few - the Pasadena location is by far the best! The service here is excellent! Every employee is fast, friendly, and really attentive, which made the experience even better than any other location. The food was delicious as always and I highly recommend the beef soup (medium spicy) and the winter melon drink!

Ambiance is super cute, love the little flags over the sushi/shabu bar and the art on the walls adds to the Japanese restaurant feel. The aroma when you walk in is mouthwatering (I was really hungry) but it doesn't smell fishy like some sushi places can. Staff is unbelievably great, super friendly and helpful if you have any questions about the menu or want recommendations. Don't be afraid to ask what the MP is on omakase, they totally work with what you're looking to spend or based on how many pieces of sushi you want to eat. Now for the real reason to visit Osawa: the food is absolutely amazing!!! Fresh, tasty, perfectly portioned. From the shishito peppers appetizer to the sushi, sashimi, hand rolls, and shabu; I cannot recommend this place enough! They have plenty of sake options to pair with your meal as well as beer or specialty cocktails if that's your preference. They offer to explain your order when it arrives which is great for those newer to sushi or just trying something different. Seriously, some of those fish practically melt in your mouth. I personally haven't ordered any rolls yet but they absolutely look delicious. If you're looking for a good sushi date spot, this. is. it. It's also good for a small group, maybe up to five or so before you feel cramped. Shabu is seated at the bar and their meats and veggie are delicious and fresh, enhanced by the tasty broth. It's even good on a summer day because they have solid air conditioning. Cannot say enough good things about Osawa. Go try it for yourself. :)

After more than a year away, I decided to give Osawa another try on May 8, 2026. Unfortunately, the experience confirmed why I had stopped coming. Around 9:02 p.m., my waiter came by to ask for last orders. I ordered chicken karaage. This is a simple dish that usually comes out in about 4 to 5 minutes. For whatever reason, the order did not arrive until around 9:26 p.m. -- almost 25 minutes later. It seemed obvious that the order had been forgotten. When the karaage finally arrived, it looked hastily sauced. Several parts of the chicken were unsauced, which is not how the dish was normally served in the past. Given the delay and the apparent mishandling, I did not touch the dish. A Japanese male manager wearing glasses then came over. He recognized me, and I explained that I had not been back for more than a year because of the food poisoning incident from fish in 2025. Instead of responding seriously, the manager smiled and giggled slightly, then launched into an irrelevant conversation about his connections in the Japanese food industry in Old Town Pasadena. When he asked why I had not touched the chicken, I explained the almost 30-minute delay and the problems with the dish. Rather than comping the item or offering a real apology, the manager asked whether I still wanted to eat it or would prefer to cancel it. He then ended the conversation by suggesting that I come in during weekday lunch for the $18 lunch specials. That response was bizarre and tone deaf. I did not return after a food poisoning incident to hear a sales pitch about lunch specials. I returned as a longtime customer giving Osawa another chance. Osawa's way of doing business has changed a lot. I've seen better customer service at Erewhon.

Luckily, it wasn't full when we arrived so the reservation wasn't actually needed but it did get more full later in the night so a reservation would be helpful if you plan to eat later at night during the peak times and especially during the weekends. Anyhow, we were seated quickly and got a table with two stoves and we could use both for four people. I got the Shabu Shabu and Sukiyaki broths while my parents got the Shabu Shabu and Tomato. And we got the Momo experience since it has a good assortment of meats. Our server was friendly in explaining the menu and had pretty fast service. Once we ordered the meat, they were served quickly too which was nice so you didn't have to wait long in between. The meat quality was pretty good but we noticed that the quality for the Chuck Eye got worse towards the end of our meal even though it started off really good. Not sure if that was on purpose or just a bad batch of beef but it was disappointing since it wasn't as tender and was tough to chew so I couldn't eat some of it. The broths were also pretty good. The Sukiyaki is a bit salty if you let the veggies and meat sit inside for too long so warning about that, but it was flavorful enough to not dip in sauces. I liked the Shabu Shabu more since it is more clear and not strong. Also, they have a drink section for unlimited drinks if you pay extra which I didn't opt for but they do let you order free hot tea or hot water unless you want cold water then it is at the soda fountain. Sad that they now charge for drinks. They also have a self-serve veggie bar which has decent amount of veggies and other hotpot ingredients but it is a smaller variety compared to some other all you can eat hotpots I have been to. They also have free ice cream at the end of the meal which is just 1 scoop of the flavors they have available. Nothing special. Overall, this is decent hotpot choice if you like Japanese style hotpot. The meat quality is okay but doesn't seem consistent on each platter. Also not many veggies to choose from. After trying this place, I realize I like Chinese hotpot better so I don't think I will come back here again but I guess it was worth trying.

The inside was huge and dimly lit, and they had a large self serve bar for hot sides, drinks, hot pot toppings like veggies and seafood, sauces, and dessert. It was a great vibe! There's a pretty large variety of broths to pick from which is nice. We both got the spicy beef, which tasted rich and tomatoey so it was different than a typical beef bone broth that I expected! It was nice because the acidity helped to balance with the richness of the meats. Of all the meats, our favorites were the brisket and the beef short plate. Personally I like to know which meats are which but sometimes when I asked, the servers couldn't really tell them apart so it kinda sucked because I wanted to know which ones I actually liked to order more of those. They were quick with taking our orders though and meats came out really quick. For hot sides, they had a large variety of things, such as fried rice, crab, crispy fried chicken, kimchi, and more. I liked that there was variety! I just think that overall, the experience didn't wow me as much as it did back then, but definitely cheaper than most places and so you get what you pay for!

Personally i like number 2 for meat it is fatty. Alot of the other meats dont have enough fat in…read morethem. But everyone else likes to eat the other ones. For the broth i get bone. Some people get half spicy and half bone. Service was really good. When we were running low on meat they came by to ask if we wanted more. They have a sauce bar where yiu can make your own dipping sauce. Mines consist if garlic, green onion, ponzu and the wasabi green things. The middle sections have veggies, noodles, seafood, etc for your hot pot. They also have fried food at the far right. When the crab legs come out fresh, they are amazing but on the sweet side. Definitely recommend trying it. I forgot to get ice creammm.
