I really wanted to like the food here since they were very popular down in So-Cal. It's safe to say that I left disappointed, here's why. First off, the wait was very long, at least 2 hours during those times when they were first opened (Not sure about now). Once stepped inside, you kind of feel the So-Cal vibe from all the paintings on the walls. I was not a fan of their seatings. I'm so used to the nice tables and chairs at Tasty Pot so Boiling Point certainly couldn't live up to the expectations. The portions are on the small side, not what I expected. I'm a big fan of the Thai Flavor Hot Soup so I got the Thai Flavor here. It was a disappointment! Their Thai Flavor wasn't sour enough, it was kind of sweet actually. They have 4 different dipping sauces similar to a lot of Hot Pot Places. But, no amount of dipping sauce can fix the taste if the broth isn't on point. As long as there Tasty Pot locations near by, I won't be coming back to Boiling Point. They certainly need a lot of work. read more

Came here after waking up with a strong craving for shabu shabu. My usual place for shabu didn't open until 5PM, so after an intensive Yelp search, I decided on this place. I hadn't realized this was the new hot pot all my brother's friends have been talking about, surprisingly, I came here on a Friday afternoon around 230PM and there was no wait. I ordered the Japanese miso, along with green tea (the lunch special comes with a bowl of rice and a choice of green or black tea). The hot pot came fairly quick, and the broth was AWESOME! I wouldn't necessarily call it a miso broth since I didn't taste much miso in it, but it was very fresh, with a hint of sweetness, probably from the vegetables. The amount of food was more than enough for me, and it is true -- there isn't that much meat in the pot, so if you are a meat lover, I would advise to order a plate of meat de separately. But for me, it was more than enough. The sauces at the table are standard, garlic infused soy sauce, chili oil (I think) and Taiwanese tofu sauce -- it's a sweet and spicy sauce that I personally enjoy. If you're looking for the sesame sauce, they don't have that here. I LOVE BOILING POINT!!!! I am a big fan of hot pot, especially personalized hot pots, so this is right up my alley. Ever since I've had a taste of boiling point soup I fell in love. As crazy as it seems, their soup is honestly the reason why I crave this place so much. I might be the only one, but I do love good soup. I think that the stuff they put into the hot pot is pretty basic and comparable to Tasty Pot, but Boiling Point's soup is what definitely sets them apart. This is also my favorite location (not the SJ one) because it is bigger and is quite cute with their mural and decorations. The line is quite long, but in my opinion lunchtime is the only time I would go because the line is usually shorter and they give you free tea and cheaper prices! Warning! Right now is their soft opening so hours are actually 12AM-3PM and 6PM -9PM, not 11 AM. Even though I came here around 11:40 AM, there were already 28 groups ahead of us! We ended up going in an hour and a half later. When they open, they take down your name and give you a ticket so you can walk around the plaza while you wait or get some boba. One tip I would like to add is to say the group's # out loud also, so we have an idea of which group you are on. FOOD: Food was good. Main complaint is that the pot was mostly veggies and not enough meat or food items. Especially if the prices in Norcal are higher than Socal, don't be skimpy on the meat! I have only been to the Socal location once so I can't really compare tastes, but the broth was good. I really enjoyed all of their dipping sauces, especially the spicy one. Even though i arrived an hour before dinner opening, I still ended up waiting for about two hours for a party of 2. If you have a bigger party, you may have to wait longer. Honestly though, I felt like the wait was worth it. I enjoyed the food and the service was better than i had expected based on the reviews I had read on yelp. I got the beef hot pot and a matcha macaron ice cream sandwich. I liked how the medium spicy was a good amount of spice, not too spicy, but not bland like some other places. The beef was tender, but I wish there were more of the other ingredients rather than the bunches of cabbage they had put in it. The macaron ice cream sandwich had good consistency in its shell, but the matcha flavor was a bit light, so it was a little hard to taste. I wanted to order the Hokkaido milk tea, but they were out of it only two hours into dinner service. Overall, my experience was pleasant and the food was good. Arrived on a Thursday around 5:50, got a number and was told it would be around a 50 mins wait. I expected this so it didn't bother me. I instead went exploring in the plaza and came back at 6:45 and was seated at 7. I really liked how the inside was decorated, especially their welcome sign that was made like an eye exam chart. Once seated, the server came and brought water and offered to answer any questions. It took me a while to decide because I had read a lot of good things about #8 and really wanted to try it but doubted myself in the spiciness factor. Instead I ended up ordering #3, the korean styled one and had the spicy level at medium. Good thing I went this route! The soup was delicious and all the ingredients inside tasted amazing. It was my first time here and I heard all about it from friends that are from SoCal. I came to boiling point on the first day of their soft opening(friday, March 13, 2015) I love the service there, it was fast, efficient and helpful. I waited only 1 hour for 6 people in my party. I was able to get the number 4: beef noodle soup. I love the taste and the fact I can control the heat. So delicious! I was craving more so I came back. (March 16, 2015). With a party of 4, the wait was 2 hours. It was the soft opening and I was willing to wait those 2 hours to eat so I understood. We got seated and we already knew what to order ahead of time. When we were about to order, they just told out they were out on majority of the soups, which I was disappointed in because I wanted the number 4 again. So I chose the number 6: curry soup along with 2 other people in my party. A few minutes later they told our party that they ran out of curry soup and one of us needed to change the order. Overall, they did have good service I just wished they updated all the parties outside that were waiting that certain soups were not available anymore so I wouldn't have to waste time there. We got there at 1040 and were promptly seated at 11 and orders taken and brought out 10 minutes later. Our server was very attentive. Hubby got Taiwanese flaming spice and I got very hot spicy miso. Both were delicious. We also got rice with our order. But we order extra vermicelli noodles. The flame can be turn off if you want. You can add more broth if you run low on soup. A modern twist on the hot pot cuisine which provides hearty soup base and sauces, but lacks the fundamental creativity, independence, and family oriented food sharing that is the foundation of good hot pot. When we were seated, the table was very small for two people. Our two hot pots barely fit on the table, there was no way we could switch pots, and there wasn't enough room to have plates, other than a small bowl of rice. How do I eat? Do I just pick from the pot and immediately stuff it into my mouth? Because there was no room for a plate to put sauce / dip my food in. The wooden fire boxes that the pot sits on were so close to the edge of the table, that I almost burned my hair several times trying to reach food. The menu also has several "big" options that are more expensive extra large hot pots. But they don't have the same corresponding flavors in a regular size. So we had to miss out on the Japanese Miso flavor that we were really interested in trying, because it didn't come in a regular size. The soup itself had great flavor, was not too salty, and the garlic bean paste and barbecue hot pot sauces were ON FLEEK. They were the best hot pot sauces I've had. The best ingredients in the hot pot were the BP fish spam rectangular cubes, the udon noodles, and the oysters. The prices, however, just don't seem worth the amount of food we get. All they do is dump stuff into a huge pot and then give it to us. There is no way to customize your pot, other than adding corn for $5,000 (okay, it was really $3, but it might as well be $5,000, because there's no way I'm paying three dollars for a few extra corns). There were also two tiny crabs in our seafood pot, which there really was no way of eating. Don't give me tiny things that I can't end up eating, because then they just take up room in my pot. A large chopped off crab claw would've been nicer. I would appreciate if I could choose my own ingredients (not just add-ons that cost a billion dollars), because I feel this is the center of hot pot culture. A family sitting around a large table (that has enough room for plates), sharing with each other, but also choosing their favorites to cook and enjoy. Having that ability to choose taken away from me makes the experience feel coldly distilled and unauthentic. Basically, you order, and someone just dumps a giant pot full of already-cooked food in front of you. Also, potatoes were not even an ingredient in any of the pots? Came here when they were having their "soft opening" and it was jam packed where they ran out of numbers (closes at 9pm). The hype was to see whether it was as good as the original in Southern Cali. My boyfriend and I went in on a Thursday afternoon for lunch during their soft opening and luckily we fell into the first wave of people waiting in line. Please understand that it is soft opening and the wait can get very long so do arrive an hour early to avoid longer wait times. 15 min prior to opening an employee will start handing out numbered tickets down the line and they'll call out your number for when your table is ready. They have roughly around 20-25 tables inside. Service was good. Food came out within 10 min of ordering. Our water cups were never empty and they were really good about pre-bussing our empty side plates. My boyfriend ordered their Beef Hot Pot. This came with thin slices of beef, napa cabbage, tofu, clear noodles along with an extra side of beef and ramen noodles. The beef broth was just mediocre, nothing spectacular. With that being said, it was bland and it could have been a lot more flavorful. However, my boyfriend enjoyed and appreciated the concept of it. I ordered their Taiwanese Flaming Hot Pot. This came with thin slices of beef, blood cakes, tofu, ramen, squid, clams, napa cabbage, and intestines. The broth was very SPICY! They don't mess around with their spice levels here. I love spicy foods and I very much liked this spicy, sweet, and flavorful broth, However, I felt like my lips were on fire as I continued to eat it and I couldn't enjoy it to it's full extent. Worst experience on Thursday lunch. Waiter spilled the hot soup on my client pant and jacket. The worst part is the behavior from the assistant manager ( same waiter that spilled the hot soup). He did not apologize and acknowledge of the spill. Furthermore, when requested for the contact information of the management, the contact number was a voice message from a kid. No apology, no offer to clean, no offer to provide compensation for professional cleaning, started to engage with customers sitting next to our table on bad mouthing us in Chinese. I tried this establishment in Los Angeles and fell in love with it which is why I decided to try it in Fremont, since I live in the area. I have to be honest I was greatly disappointed by this place and don't understand why it has to dry number of reviews on yelp. The most shocking thing to me was that approaching the building, you can clearly smell the scent of gasoline from the outside. Don't even get me started on when you open the door, the first thing you get is a whiff of gasoline odor which is very unsafe and a huge health hazard, I was very surprised that this has gone on for so long without somebody stopping it, I've been to the same plaza many times and smell the scent of gasoline coming from the restaurant every time. Other than that, the service is not great. When me and my boyfriend attended, we did not receive very good service from any of the waiters. We were ignored a lot and the waiters did not seem to have very good manners or patience when helping its customers, that was very unappealing. The food quality was good but honestly I've had better, I think this place is more hyped up then it should be. Just down the street there is an incredible restaurant called boiling pot and there are many other hot pot-like restaurants in the area that I would rather go to. Pretty good! Super happy that they've opened a BP in NorCal, as it's my favorite restaurant. Flavor and taste are more or less on point with the quality in SoCal. It's a long wait (we arrived at 5:15p to get a ticket before it opened at 6p, and were seated at 8p with a group of 4). Suggestion to minimize the wait: go as a group of 2, and arrive at or before 5 to be the first in line. That way you can guarantee you'll be in the first wave and you'll only have to wait one hour as opposed to three or more. Boiling point is finally in NorCal! Which means I will finally get to try out this place haha. I've heard raved reviews about this place and how this is the new "it" trend. Boiling Point's food was great, service was bad, and the wait was dreadful. Keep in mind that this is my first time here so I won't have a comparison to the SoCal one. The food here was on point (hehe)! I ordered the house special hot soup with a side order of corn and it was so soo soo good! Since it was lunch time, we got a free order of the slightly sweetened green or black tea. The portions of the pot was pretty hefty and there was a little bit of everything inside! The fermented tofu was truly delicious but please, stay away from those pork blood rice cake, yuck! Midway, the fire made the food too hot and the soup started bubbling and popping so ask one of the servers to take out the fire if this happens to you! Food wise, I have no complaints and am super satisfied! Service wasn't the best and the reason why I took OFF a star... Maybe it's because I went during soft opening (March 17) but they barely paid attention to their customers... Even when it slowed down! I went during lunch time so when it closed, the servers got really lazy... Two of them stood there just chatting away! I tried to flag them down but since we sat near the back of the restaurant, we weren't heard... I even helped clean up the table and stacked all plates and bowls inside the hotpot but still nothing. Finally I had to yell saying, "Excuse me, check please!" They dropped off the check and all of a "sudden" was super attentive asking how everything was and so forth... Eh, nice try! I understand and sympathize that after a long and busy rush, you just want to relax. However, this is still your shift and there's still people at the restaurant so please pay attention to them! I went to school down in Irvine and forever love the BP there, so I wanted to see how this one would compare. My friends and I came at 11:20 and a good-sized line was already starting to form (it opens at 12). Once it came opening time, it was somewhat a madhouse. I could barely hear the names that they were calling out when they began to seat people. Counting from the moment we stood in line, we waited a total of 1 hour, which isn't bad considering we were seated 20 minutes after it opened. Once we were seated, it took forever to have someone help us. A party that was seated after us at the same table was helped first, which really irked me. After that waiter finished, they didn't even bother to take the orders of my party. I had to flag someone else down for that. Now for the food, if I could sum it up in one word it would be bland. I ordered the beef one, so I can't speak for the other soups. The one down in Irvine lets you choose between rice and vermicelli, but I was told that rice was the only option (I think it has to do something with it being the soft opening but I don't know the waiter was kind of mumbling). In all, I would say save your time and go to another place to eat. The quality of food and service is lacking and needs some work. I will only come back here once the newness of it dies down and only if I'm having a killer craving for it. What would you expect?! Service: Overall, the service are good. Waitress are very attentive and assertive. My friend and I were the early group of customers on last Thursday dinner. There are a group of lady customers came in after we had the line form with a lost look. They was in awe that they have to get in line for just having hot pot. Overall, This place was very nice and DELICIOUS! (Beware, their most spicy ramen is actually REALLY spicy) Besides getting ramen that was a little to spicy for my taste, I thought everything was delicious and tasteful Price wise the place was about what I expect for a really nice quality ramen place like this one. It was FORSURE worth the price of my food and tea since I didn't even finish it and it made me full the next day eating the leftovers. Taste wise this place exceeded my expectations. I love that they have a fire under each bowl to keep it hot and within my ramen there was so many different types of meats and vegetables that all came in together to make me wish I had another stomach so that I could eat more. (For drinks I also recommend Passion fruit green tea because it was WAY BETTER than most actual boba places). The food also comes with a bowl of rice which I personally liked because it provides two different ways of eating everything, in the soup or with the rice and I loved both so I totally recommend this place The environment of this place was very nice and I like the decor of the place. Our server Stanley was VERY nice and attentive to us even tho it was crowded. Seemed like he actually enjoyed working there and doing what he was doing. A+ when it comes to Stanley's service and the overall service of the place since food and drinks came out fast and they were aware of us needing more drinks every time we drank all the water. Maybe it was just a bad day when we went. Bad service and food did not even make up for it. When we first got there, it was pretty crowded but only a 30 minute wait for 2. So we get seated and when our server first checks in with us, doesn't even say hello or any way to greet your customers, but tells me he has to take my drink. So they do not allow outside drinks and I had purchased a boba from gong cha (which is delicious btw) during our wait. How come the hostess did not tell us when she clearly saw my drink as she was seating us? And he didn't have to say it so rudely. Plus he rushes to take our food order and didn't even take our drink order, and walked off so quickly we couldn't even get our drinks in! We ordered the fermented tofu, Thai (Tom yum) pot, and the lamb pot. Fermented tofu was too strong for my boyfriend and I, but we saw other people enjoying it. So I guess it depends if you like that the strong fermented odor. Both pots were decent. They were a bit bland for my taste but I enjoy my food a little bit further down the salt spectrum. Then another problem came up. When putting in my order I asked for udon instead of vermicelli and my server said ok, which both my boyfriend and I heard him say. When brought out it was the vermicelli, and and this point I still had some patience and just let him know that I had asked for udon and he said "I told you no. We can't do that." OK.... I just left it alone and kept eating. My boyfriend wanted to add more toppings and asked for a menu. As he gave us the menu, he stood there and rudely asked "well are you going to order or what?" I couldn't believe this guy! My boyfriend told him he needed a minute to look at everything and he rolled his eyes and walked away. At this point, my boyfriend and I are pretty pissed. And we couldn't catch him to order and ended up having to order from other servers. Towards the end of our meal, we asked for our check and for my drink back. He then took away my pot while I was still grabbing stuff out of it and said to get my drink back I had to be done eating. Really...? I was picking at the last few vegetables in my pot and you're going to take it away, WHILE my chopsticks are still in the pot? The worst restaurant experiences my boyfriend and I had. Maybe it doesn't not sound too horrible on this review, but it was to the point where we couldn't enjoy our food. My boyfriend and I both worked in popular fast paced restaurants and are very understanding inattentive service because we get it. Everyone is busy, but this guy was just plain out rude. Came across this place by chance. I abt here for dinner with my family and wasn't really sure what to expect. Taiwanese hot pot is a very different from what I'm normally used to, since I typically have Japanese shabu. The portions here are great considering the price point. I had the Taiwanese spicy hot pot and that was truly flaming hot. The service was great and the staff was very helpful. The only thing I didn't like about this place was that they don't give you much room to edit the dishes. One surprise to me was their milk tea. I'm not much of a milk tea person but I was pretty happy with theirs. I would be open to coming back here again to try out a different dish. read more

I miss eating here, I always get the spicy beef hotpot in medium spicy level. Their other pots like curry and Korean kimchi are very delicious as well. There is a variety of sauces provided on the table for people to use in their hot pot. During lunchtime, we get free complimentary rice and sweetened ice tea. They do get super busy during lunchtime, but the wait is so worth it. I can't wait until we can eat inside again, this will be the first restaurant I'll go. read more

It's funny how sometimes the name of the restaurant describes itself too perfectly. Like this place is called "Boiling Point" and that was pretty much it. The soup the group of us ordered was basically water at boiling point and varying degrees of spiciness. Like holy cow there was no other flavor in the soup. It was so bland that if veggies and meat did have flavor it was drowned and burned out by the boiling point of water. Used to really love this place and ever since it opened the place has gone on a complete nosedive where I never thought possible. Now if you really wanted a tasty pot.... well let's just say there's a restaurant that describes itself as exactly that. read more
