Boiling Pho is hands down the best Vietnamese restaurant I've had in New Jersey in the past 20 years. Good food and relatively affordable. We enjoyed the pad Thai and banh Mi. The fried dumplings were nice as well.

We were sat for 15 minutes at a table that wasn't cleaned or set up, before we even got to order and another family was sat directly next to us and ordered almost immediately. It's a shame how terrible the service was, the food was at least delicious and tasted very authentic. Be prepared for a slow service, but if you're not starving you'll be fine. I loved this spot but I feel the taste and quality has declined. Service is always spectacular here but the food and surroundings have not improved or been consistent. Their house Pho was flavorful but not well proportioned. There is alot of broth but very little meat. The seafood pho was decent but tue scallops were brown. Appears to be freezer burnt. I am giving 4 stars for this fairly new Pho spot in the neighborhood. The food was pretty good but I am sure there's some room for improvement. The pho soup was flavorful but I was a little disappointed with the cut of the beef. It felt like it was ordered straight from a deli place or Hmart. The fried spring rolls were tasty but thought it was too oily when it was served and the lettuce can be a a little fresher. I can also use more lettuce and mint leaves as I love to roll my spring rolls with lettuce , and cucumber when I eat them. The ambience was great, loved the authentic asian touch. There's just too much going on with the menu tho, they also have Thai and Seafood boil. The service was prompt. Overall, I am glad with the addition of this new restaurant in the area, just very timely for the winter. read more

I reluctantly tried this place and didn't know what to expect. I tried ordering something simple - Pho with chicken. lol! Simple it's not. The complex flavors blew me away. I'm hooked. So delicious. A nice addition to downtown Pompton Lakes. Fair prices, good flavored pho. Service was quite friendly. The only downside I'd say is that the music choice with explicit lyrics is not family-friendly, and had I been with children I would not choose to return. read more

We enjoyed very very good broths here. The spring rolls had a dredging taste to them, and I have to say the peanut dipping sauce was extremely good! I am typically not a fan because it has an overpowering peanut taste that almost gives me peanut butter vibes. We arrived for dinner and sat in the back. There was construction going on in the kitchen, which was quite loud. We ordered the summer roll, spring roll, Pho Beef Combo, and seafood boil. The spring roll arrived and was overcooked. It was very dark (burnt) and the food inside burst open. The dipping sauce was too acidity as well. The summer roll was decent, but the hoisin dipping sauce was bland. The seafood boil, Cajun, was definitely bland; no flavor. The side of rice was also dry. You can just tell on the plate and taste like old rice. My toddler couldn't even eat it, and she loves rice. The garlic noodles wasn't too bad, if you don't like garlic, because there was no garlic. The Pho was the biggest disappointment of all. It was watered down and salty. We couldn't smell the (herbs/spices) aroma of a Pho dish. More so, we ordered the Beef Combo which supposedly offers four meats and we only got two. We didn't get any condiments such as the mint, lime, and bean sprouts . Not sure if we're supposed to get this. Lastly, they were understaffed (2). It took some time to place our order and received our food. We didn't even get spoons and sauces when the Pho was served. We chased another server to get them. She was apologetic though. The restaurant is small and there's music. The atmosphere is casual. I have tried Boiling Pho twice now. The first time, I was not impressed by the food, but the high energy service brought me back. I appreciated that the owner remembered me, it was very personable. And I appreciate that even with takeout orders, your meal comes ready in bowl, just as pho should be served. BUT, on my second visit, my order took so long to get ready, and there was at least one other person waiting as well. I'm not sure what was happening in the back.. since, imagine my disappointment when I got home and found that my rice noodles were not cooked at all! I honestly couldn't even finish the food, and even though the location is convenient, I had no desire to go back. It's a shame too, I was looking forward to having a good pho place nearby. read more

My sister and I came in for a lunch and we couldn't decide between a place with Pho and seafood boil... this restaurant had BOTH! So we ordered one of each and it did not disappoint! The furniture placement was annoying you have to move the both furniture to ensure it's not to far away from the table house pho or s authentic but can use more meat. We ordered 2 combo pho, SUPER salty- inedible- loaded with cilantro and raw onions- it didn't come with any of the side fixings. Shrimp summer rolls filled with overcooked shrimp and wilted sour vegetables, peanut dipping sauce was rotten tastes like old moldy towel. Pork dumplings were definitely frozen and had about 3 pieces of filling. Gross. The saving grace was the spring rolls were okay. I was only here three times for pho so bear that in mind. I did not have anything else on the menu. I can say this was the best pho I have had in years, all three kinds I had. The broth is complex, delicious, and has a lot of flavor going on. They don't skimp on meat or seafood and one thing they add that few other places do is regular onion. It's extraordinary. I was disappointed. Initially I was excited to find out that a Vietnamese place had opened up not too far from me. The menu is small, which is both good and bad. It's good because it keeps things simple. But it's bad because it reduces the number of options for people who might be more finicky, or have dietary issues. I ordered the Pad Thai, and Summer Rolls. Both options were disappointing. The summer Rolls fell apart very quickly. I barely got it out of the plastic container, and half of it had fallen out of the wrapper. These are wrapped in rice paper, so they aren't meant to be firm. But I have had these at other Vietnamese places, and they held together fine. The reason is that they weren't wrapped tightly/securely. The Pad Thai was also very disappointing. I've had this at Thai restaurants and have never had it like this. Normally, the noodles are a similar shape to linguine (though made of something else). This place uses rice vermacelli. This unfortunately makes it much easier for the noodles to clump up, and not have the same consistency of how the dish should really be. Also, there was next to no sauce on it. Normally there is a thin sauce that keeps the noodles loose and provides a nice flavor. If there was sauce on here, it was undetectable. Overall, I was disappointed in this restaurant and have no plans to go back. From what I understand, the people who own it also own Mr. Ramen. Why is this relevant? When Mr. Ramen first opened there were a lot of problems with the food, and restaurant itself. They closed down, revamped, and reopened. Everything was massively improved. I hope this place sees their problems, revamps and makes some necessary changes. read more

I was disappointed in my seafood boil. I went with craw fish and clams with sides of Cole slaw which they forgot bad garlic noodles. The class were extremely small and the craw fish tough. The sauce was good as the noodles. Will not order again read more

Definitely go here for the seafood boil. It was excellent and everyone was happy with it. It was worth the price, which wasn't even that high. The restaurant itself is nice and the staff were fun and friendly. I recommend giving it a try if you like seafood, soup, or whatever. read more
