I've never heard of Boil Bay or ever thought of visiting a seafood restaurant like this before but I am glad I did. My friend and her family had me tag along to the birthday celebration and I got to enjoy some delicious shrimp basket and cajun fried rice. The service was friendly and accommodating albeit on the slower side of things. The clam chowder is something that can be skipped the next time. I've generally had good experiences with the food and service at this location, but my most recent visit was disappointing. I came in with my kid about an hour and 20-25 minutes before closing, and the hostess seemed reluctant to seat us. After being seated, the waiter came over. We greeted him, and his response was, "your drink?" We told him our drinks and without saying anything he just walked away. At that point, I told him to forget it and that we were just going to leave. He then had the nerve to ask are you sure? Huh? Of course I'm sure! We love this place. It's a must do. Their fish is wonderful. Their hush puppies are great. Love their catfish - crunchy and crispy. I like their beignets as well. It's great to watch all the "boils" come out. I can't eat shellfish, but it's great to see all that fun presentation. If they ever have other kinds of fish would definitely want to try. Our server Rayven was very personable & patient while we got settled with our little one. She explained how everything worked & offered her recommendations. Food was great. I would suggest going during the day if you're going to dine in. The live music was loud and if the server couldn't hear you, you had to repeat what your ordered or miss out on it. I had the calamari, raw dozen oysters, and the cat fish basket. Everything was good. I ordered beignets to go. We started with Wings. Ordered a crawdad po'boy with Cajun Fries too. Everything was yummy. Bobby and Jonnika did a great Job making sure we had all the necessities (gloves, napkins, wet naps, gloves, utensils..) including condiments, its so nice when you don't have to remind your server you need utensils and/or condiments. Love how on top of things Bobby already was during his training. Upon entering the restaurant, there was an A-frame sign highlighting local DJ's on Friday and Saturday evenings. Poppin'. We were also greeted by a full bar, vibes! Inside there is a massive dining room, lots of mood lighting, nautical decor, and a stage. From the speakers, r&b and a lil Hip Hop, nice touch. So I'd recommend Boil Bay for a laid back date night, or night out with friends. My only gripe this visit was the lack of beer choices. Jonikka explained they were having so difficulties with their beer situation. Bummer I love a Craft IPA and they had two on their menu I wanted to try. All in all. Boil Bay is a solid spot. 3.5 Stars Places like Boil Bay is a good place to eat but I'm left with more questions than answers. How do I know if these crab legs actually weigh up to 1/2 lb or a full pound? Is that just the legs or with potatos and corn? Wheres my weight scale! People don't eat the shells, can we get 5 dollars off? The food and vibe/music was cool. We came here because my sister and I just wanted to hang out before she went back out to sea and going out to sea can be hard work at times. We started the event with an order of calamari and coconut shrimp. The sauce on the coconut tasted good, I wasn't sure what it was but the sauce was sweet and went well with the coconut shreds I ordered the Hot Lobster sandwich which was dipped in a mixture of butter and seasonings. There was definitely more bread than meat and Lettuce though. I ordered the full pound of king crab and mussels with mild spice. This tasted a little more saltier than normal but this is Cajun seasoning. For the drink, Arnold Palmer. I guess it's a hit or miss sometimes because normally they'd have everything set up but we waited a little longer than usual, Utensils weren't ready, scissors were missing, broken straws, when we asked for the check, we waited for 15 minutes until our waiter came back. I understand they get busy though, it's not hard to let us know that it's a busy night. My sister tipped a good amount, if it was me, it would of been halfed that.
