Joslyn took excellent care of me on my time here! She was very knowledgeable about the menu and took her suggestions on all! And she was so right! I started with a dozen raw oysters (because I could!). They were really big, fresh, and flavorful. I asked for extra horseradish and it was also very fresh. Perfect. I also got the fish tacos and she crab soup as my mains. Good Lord, the tacos were so big and delish. The sauce on the was really fresh and the veggies were crisp too. The fries were nicely seasoned and, for me, they really complimented the fish nicely. The soup was also very good. Tho the chunks of crab were smaller that other soups I've had, there was plenty of crab there! The flavor was super great too. No complaints here at all. And Joslyn was ALWAYS there and very attentive! And take her advice when ordering. She knows what she's talking about. She makes a great margarita too! Really a great place on the water. My Shrimp Scampi was ok but my friend's burger and fries were cold. The price for what we received doesn't match. It's too expensive for the quality. You're really just paying for the view of the water. The only reason I even give it 3 stars is because our server Anna was awesome and my mermaid water was absolutely delicious. Terrible service. Maybe the worst. I only leave yelp reviews that are 4 or 5 stars. I never leave negative reviews. These two stars are for the kitchen crew only. The hostess was nice. She was also serving tables and I wish we had her. There were a total of nine occupied tables in the entire restaurant with three servers. We had to ask for water. We didn't get silverware or napkins until after our appetizer and only when I literally begged the man who brought our entrees. I will share a pic, but it was a handful of silverware just on a random napkin. One app arrived after entrees. My husband sat with no drink at all until after he finished his meal. My first cocktail was fine and timely, the second arrived after my meal looking nothing at all like the first and the server said "the bartender made it right this time". The food was decent. Not bad, but nothing great. They messed up the side item and seemed irritated when we nicely asked for the onion rings that we had ordered. They are an upcharge...which is fine...but didn't arrive until almost the end of the meal. Wings were fine. Bisque was fishy with no pieces of lobster. Fried shrimp was fine. Unsure about the slaw because we didn't have a fork. Ketchup poured out like water. Burger was fine. My daughter is a server, so I never complain about service. It is a hard job. We are always super nice and don't bother them. This service was just so bad. This is unfortunate because we really wanted to give a five star review to "up" their rating. Great view, sub par brunch. Recently visited Stripers while in the area for Brunch. I opted for the brunch buffet as it seemed tasty on paper. My party arrived a little before 2pm due to the weird walk around to access Stripers because of the street food festival. Now to the drink and food. My party was super excited to try the mimosa flight. It had several flavors: peach, passionfruit, watermelon and orange. The orange and passionfruit was the best. The peach and watermelon was far too sweet. Maybe juice instead of puree? The buffet...30.00 for all you can eat. It came with the standard bacon, eggs(seasonless), sausage, salmon, sliders, steamed shrimp and a roasted beef, waffles, and stuffed French toast. There was supposed to be salad but, there was none. We were informed there was no more and there was no plan to replenish. The beef was good but, it was down to the end. So I only got 2 pieces of the butt of the meat. That too was not replenished. The Salmon was very under done. I think the intention was that the sternos would slow cook it but, it didn't. They did re-fire some salmon. The second round was better. I basically had steam shrimp, eggs and bacon for the price. Those are the only items I ate. The best thing about brunch was the 2.00 mimosas. Strong and boozy, though I didn't like the cafeteria mini glasses they were served in. I'd probably not patronize again for brunch but, the regular menu did have some seemingly good picks. The seafood pasta was ok and tasty but the Lobster Bisque was broken with a ton of butter over the top so your spoon was over half butter with a small amount of broken soup. Everyone and their mamas has recommended Stripers and we finally booked a reservation over the phone for Valentine's day. We got to the restaurant and the host couldn't find our reservation, so that was fun. Our waitress was nice & showed us the Valentines menu they had that day. We ordered the tuna sashimi for our apps & honestly, I was pretty disappointed. The tuna had great flavor but it was a little tricky to cut through. Oh! & the rice -- COLD. It was cold & undercooked. I took a bite & had to spit it out. Not sure if it was suppose to be cold & hard but i definitely didn't enjoy that. I loved the pairing of the tuna & ginger so I'll give it that. For our entrees, I got the salmon with crab & my husband got the surf and turf. My salmon was okay & I personally think the crab was a little overwhelming so I had to push it to the side. Stripers is a nice restaurant on the waterfront in Norfolk. It is a large restaurant with a nice big patio. We were there for lunch on a Sunday and did not need reservations. Service was nice and quick through the meal. I had one of the specials (scallop risotto) and my wife had the Cobb salad. We also had other family with us. My dish was good, the risotto was nice and buttery and the scallops were cooked well. The dish was a little small, but tasty. That was not the case with my wife's Cobb salad. For some reason, her food came later than a lot of the other food. Then what was worse, the avocado did not look fresh or good, they probably should not have served. Other family members seemed to enjoy their food and they do have a lot of beers. read more

If you're a fan of German beer (Hofbrau) in a frosted mug, they have that too. Parking across the street was easy. We were seated outside with views of the water. There is a lot of seating inside as well. We enjoyed the food and atmosphere, much better than the night before (Admirals at River Casino). The price point is high, but you are downtown and on the water. It is to be expected. However, they have a lovely patio by the water, the service was friendly, and our food was good. It wasn't anything that blew you away, but it was cooked well. I do think having paper napkins at this price point is a bit off. I got an oyster poboy that came with fries. The fries were a bit salty but crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The oysters were cooked perfectly. It was a good sandwich, on a lovely patio, on a beautiful day. My husband and I visited Stripers for lunch today. His first cocktail arrived with several bugs in the bottom of the glass which of course was sent back. The makeup cocktail arrived in a dirty glass. Who runs this restaurant? Seriously. For its location a business savvy owner could just capitalize with a well stocked restaurant and friendly servers. They were out of most wine, at 7pm on a Saturday evening. The server was beyond rude. I corrected him that Pinot noir was not a white wine when asking about their white wine selection and he was just nasty with me. I asked for more sauce and was never provided it. After my friends departed I stayed to finish my wine and listen to the live music and not once did the server return to see if I needed anything else. He was quick to come grab our checks though. Let me say this was my 1st time going back since the reopening. I called around 11 am and asked if they could accommodate a party 13. They happily agreed and called me back to confirm. The decor, oh my goodness, too cute! The ambiance is still charming and relaxing. We were all seated and began ordering. My fiancée ordered three dozen oysters. 2 raw and 1 dozen fried. A few more appetizers were ordered. So, the appetizers come to the table. One dozen raw, one dozen steamed, and one dozen fried. No worries. We will send the steamed one back and get it raw. That took over an hour to correct, and I had to ask for a manager. Then the entrees were ordered, and everyone ordered something ranging from stuffed founder and pasta dishes to tacos. For the most part, everyone agreed that the food was good once you got it. Because of the excessive wait time, the Server told us that the Manager would adjust our bills.When we went to pay the tab once you scanned it, it was significantly higher than the server's printed version. The Server explained that someone was behind the scenes changing the bills, and she wasn't sure what to do. Her manager offered no explanation or assistance but continued avoiding us as we tried to close our tabs and leave. Overall, I like this restaurant. This place has so much potential. A beautiful prime location and a very nice, spacious restaurant with a huge bar and outdoor space. We were seated promptly, but then waited for a while to order. We sat near the entrance and after we were seated, we watched the hostess turning people away left and right and telling them they had a 1 hour wait while the restaurant was probably only 1/4 full. Others walked in and were not addressed for an extended period of time so they walked out. They obviously are severely understaffed and the staff they do have were feuding with one another right in front of us. My husband was served the wrong beer but being how the service was, just dealt with it. We ordered chips and salsa for app which was $12... it came with a handful of chips and salsa that tasted like it was out of a jar. For the price, I couldn't believe it. The entrees were ok. It came out fast and was not bad but nothing special. When we got the check, we were charged for 2 beers when the first one wasn't even fully consumed- they took it off but again had to wait way longer than necessary to have that done. The restrooms were nice appearing but were filthy and lacked toilet paper. Just so many things that could have been so much better to make this a 5 star review. When it comes to restaurants, Waterside is pretty interesting. We walked around and decided on Stripers for a quick meal before seeing Christmas lights. It was about a 10 minute wait as I assume they were opening a different area to seat us. My mimosa was good and my fish sandwich was large! Fries absolutely amazing. Their happy hours are great, and it looked like a few appetizers were 50% off. If you're looking to grab a quick bite or drink overlooking the water, there is outdoor seating as well. Tenders with fries - my son liked it 3. Hamburger - my husband ordered medium, but received well done. The server was catering to a large party so he didn't want to wait. It was just ok. 4. I am giving it 5 stars for what I had! Period. I can't tell you about the other items people say aren't good. What I had was so flavorful.... I wanted seconds! I ordered the mermaid water, and my bf had hmmm I forget the name and can't find it on their menu, but it was a rum drink. I think it was called rum punch. We both enjoyed our drinks. I was surprised that the mermaid water had strength to it. A lot of restaurants I have been to on the water... their drinks are just so so.... I was very happy with the mermaid water! Plus it is sooo pretty! The waitress said the best thing was the pork rib-eye on the specials menu. She explained that it is very good, and she wishes they would make it on the main menu to stay instead of just a special. THE OWNER OF STRIPERS WATERSIDE! Please put the pork rib-eye on the main menu because.... WOW so yummy! So flavorful. I got it grilled. My bf got it fried. We did this to see which one was better haha! So fun. It comes with mashed potatoes and brocolli ( the side is different each time, because the dish comes with the vegetable of the day). Then gravy goes over the pork and mash. It had so much yummy flavor... I really wanted a second helping! I. Ate. All. Of. It! The plate was clean. Both of our plates. We both agreed the grilled was better, but only by a little. The fried had a really good flavor too. It was so yummy.... I crave it at times, but I don't live in that state :( so sad! Definitely go try the pork rib-eye ! Thankfully when the food did come everything tasted excellent. Everyone in my party enjoyed their food. My girlfriend and I shared orders of the shrimp and the flounder basket. The seafood wasn't over breaded or over fried. The pieces of shrimp and fish were large and meaty. I appreciated that I could substitute fries for coleslaw especially since the fries were a good combination of crunchy and soft. I sat at my table for about 15-20 minutes, the three tables that were seated after had been greeted and given water. I had to flag down a waitress to get water and a server. The manager came out and checked on a few tables in my vicinity and asked them if they had been helped yet even though they had drinks on their table but choose not to ask me despite seeing my empty table several times. The host was nice and helpful. The drink was good, I had a Cucumber gin fizz. The hamburger was dry and over priced. The quality of the beef was similar to the chuck beef you can get at Walmart. The egg was fried super hard. Usually eggs hon burgers are slightly runny but that's not a big deal. The bacon on the burger was the microwaveable kind. The burger was worth 8 dollars at the most and not 14 to 15 bucks. I most likely won't be returning the food wasn't great and neither was the customer service. read more

So I'm not going to make this too long but I was in town and Came in here with a friend/coworker the other day for lunch. Wasn't really busy and I was pretty hungry. We were seated immediately and greeted by our waitress Lesley very fast. We ordered drinks and looked over the menu. I ordered the shrimp scampi and the she crab soup. The food came out in a decent amount of time. The soup was great. It had a lot of flavor and a good amount of crab which was awesome. Usually don't get that big amount of crab in a she crab soup. My shrimp scampi came out soon after. I will say it had a great amount of flavor and tasted really good. The bread that came with it was pretty good too. But one thing I will say is the shrimp scampi was very soupy and had a lot of broth and butter which was a little too much. Almost like they dumped the whole pan of sauce into the dish. Too much for the pasta. Overall the service was great, the food tasted good, and the waitress was amazing! Side note Lesley was always spot on and really good at being a waitress. read more

Margarita flight 2/5 the flavors were Classic,Strawberry, Peach and Passion fruit (happy hour price $18 regular price $22) Appetizers Calamari served with marinara sauce 1/5 not crispy at all and kind of chewy Steak egg rolls 3/5 packed with onions and peppers not so much steak. My partner really enjoyed them Hush puppies 3/5 House salad 5/5 tasted very fresh and has lots of toppings. Entrées Seafood platter (fried) the scallops and shrimp were the best ever!!! The flounder was fried a little to soft and was kinda mushy and lacked seasoning. Crab cake was yummy. The green beans were super fresh. My partner said he wouldn't order it again unfortunately. Citrus salmon served with mashed potatoes and green beans. Not my favorite dish due to the lack of flavor. Overall review 3/5 if I were to return I would order something else for sure. Came out here for Father's Day weekend brunch and my dad was looking for a place with a great atmosphere and breakfast/brunch option. Queue in Stripers. They had a great brunch option but my only reluctance to give it a 5 star review was because of the cost. As quite a few others have mentioned before, the prices are just quite exorbitant. I mean really, you're paying quite a premium to go here. We were happy with the food but wow it's just up there. Our service and the atmosphere really were spot on good for sure. So overall, if you're looking for great atmosphere and don't mind paying a premium, this is your place for sure. I'm not confident we'll be back, however, it is nice to know this place exists as an option. Bottom line up front: Overpriced menu items that aren't particularly special but that is sort of to be expected when dining at a popular, high traffic area. Great views, clean establishment, and our server was very friendly which is why this still gets 3 stars from me. Bang bang shrimp: GET THIS. So good and had a nice kick to it. Seared fish tacos: The fish was cooked well, but the rice that was paired with it reminded me of a box rice recipe. Wouldn't have been so mad at that if it wasn't so pricey. Scallop risotto: My friend mentioned that the scallops were well seasoned which helps because the risotto itself was pretty bland. Crab dip: Second best thing we tried. The dip was full of crab, but the bread that came with it was SO hard. Calamari: Third best thing we tried. The marinara sauce that came with it was a little sweet but worked well. The oyster Rockefeller was overpowered with spinach and dry. Lobster Mac and cheese balls had a weird processed cheese taste no lobster taste no seasoning and was served in plain regular tomato sauce. No flavor . I was in town for a conference and this spot was where a small group landed for dinner. The wait staff were friendly and didn't bat an eye when we added a few more folks to our table. The space is tucked into a market setting of other restaurants... their space specifically overlooks the waterfront and the views are fabulous. We ordered a few appetizers: half a dozen raw oysters, crab dip and Brussels spouts(which I didn't partake of) - the oysters were large, though not chilled which is my preference; the crab dip was delicious especially with the airy chip they used. For my main I opted for the mahi mahi tacos (seared). The pieces of fish were thick and flavorful. The slaw was ok and the aioli added to the flavor. A side of wild rice came with the two tacos - it's just that rice with little flavor. Overall, Striper's is a beautiful space with a view and ok seafood dishes. read more

While the food is decent and this place is still a solid option compared to other restaurants in the building, the service left much to be desired. When we arrived, the hostess informed us there would be a wait and began writing down names/ numbers. We decided to head to the bar while waiting, only to notice several groups without reservations being seated immediately. This inconsistency was frustrating. When I addressed the situation, the manager intervened, explaining that the hostess was new and unfamiliar with the process.
