I love the food here. Although you'll feel full all day if you come for lunch! Pretzel (not ginormous) with 3 mustards, we also got the latkes which I was craving. Beer sizes are huge. Beer itself is good. Wait staff is really friendly. I would definitely consider it a kid friendly place for lunch or dinner. They have the casual bench layout that helps when your child can't sit well at a small table. My daughter does better here than Mountain Sun I think just because of the layout. Felt incredibly unwelcome with the staff due to the rushing of getting my group out of here. They were inconsiderate and short and displayed SEXISTS behavior when asking for more drinks. Additionally, we were discriminated based on how we looked and our age. Overall, horrible experience with the staff and will not be returning with friends. First time we walked in, I was immediately reminded of beer halls in Prague. Warm, dark wood all around, long, heavy wooden tables, heavy wooden chairs and benches, and an ineffable atmosphere that is difficult to explain in words. (I'm usually not a fan, at all, of long, communal dining tables, but in a Czech-style beer hall, they are beautifully appropriate.) That is the front room. In the back of the place, past the bar and down a little corridor, is a larger and more open room, also made of warm woods. My favorite meal at BB- the jager schnitzel, which comes with red cabbage, and either spaetzle or gruyere fries. I love spaetzle, but the gruyere fries are delicious, so I usually choose those. The pork schnitzel is always perfectly cooked, and the brown mushroom gravy is so good that I could eat an entire bowl of it with a spoon. Maceo often orders this meal as well, and sometimes a pork schnitzel sandwich. Paulaner Weissbier. I usually prefer excellent American craft beers, but I have a soft spot for Paulaner. First time I ever visited Germany, years ago, the first beer I had in-country was Paulaner Weissbier. BB always has it on tap, served in various quantities including, of course, in a big glass boot (haven't tried that size yet). At BB it's the only beer we order. One quibble. Even pre-inflation and pre-COVID, the prices were always a little high for what was served. ($13 for one sausage and fries, for example.) Lunch for two people- two entrees and a total of two beers- with tax and tip costs us about $65 to $70. Service. Usually decent, but becoming increasingly strange. On our last visit, we called beforehand to see if BB was open (hours being inconsistent because of COVID, apparently). I asked the young woman who answered if BB was open. There was a long pause, and then she sighed dramatically, and said, "Unfortunately." I thought something might be wrong, so I asked if everything was okay. She sighed deeply again, and said that she hadn't wanted to come to work, but that if we showed up, she guessed she could serve us. It was more funny than anything, because she was affecting a world-weary ennui, as if she envisioned herself as a fin de siecle Parisian poet, lounging with laudanum-addicted fellow artists in a Left Bank coffee shop. When we arrived at BB and were seated, she provided adequate and pleasant enough service, just with long, dramatic sighing. The food was delicious. A little less drama would have been nice. We had the Weissworst with potato salad and cucumber salad. All were fantastic, especially with their spicy mustard. Staff was top notch, friendly, attentive and personable but not intrusive. Everything about the Biergarten is ok. If you're looking for a quiet (quiet-ish) place, this is probably not the place for you. However, it is some great people watching (rich, hippie-esque sorority girls sprinkled with some actual hippies.. a great juxtaposition!). However, the beer is aplenty and one is able to get cozy with strangers when sitting on the long, wooden community tables. Overpriced food. Sausages, kebabs, and the like ALWAYS come burned, or what they would probably call "charbroiled". I consider burned and I had to pick off the burnt bits. Potato pancakes are limp and lack crisp, except on the very edges. The pierorgies are doughy and taste like they came out of a freezer. The only thing I liked about this place was the pretzel. (though it was black and overcooked) That's truly it. And that was overpriced too. And they forgot to give me their special "homemade" mustard. They also mislabeled the majority of the boxes. I got the kebabs and the tzatziki sauce had a HAIR in it. It wasn't a long hair, but it was the size of a pubic hair. That is enough to make me NEVER want to order from here again. I don't like giving negative reviews but if there is a HAIR in my food, it's going on yelp. Maybe I should be grateful they forgot to include their special homemade mustard, in case they put pubic hairs in there as well. read more

I'm really glad a German bar like this exists. That being said, I lived in Germany, and the German food is not anything to get excited about. The wurst don't really taste German. The weisswurst does not taste anything like weisswurst. The spätzle is greasy. If you are looking for home-cooked German food, this isn't the place. But if you've never been to Germany and want good beer and a cool atmosphere, definitely come check it out! read more

Don't put your hand on my shoulder during a pandemic, don't call me "baby" and "little girl", don't ask me if I want another drink and then never deliver it, and if I tell you that I have to go because I am on a layover and have to get to the airport, don't sit around talking with the other tables and your friends, making me ask for my receipt from the manager and lie, saying it had only been a minute since I asked. Bohemian Biergarten is a nice noisy pub, which is what were after. It's communal seating in the bar and you just grab your own seat. We went in with 3 people about 6:45 on a Friday and waited about 15 minutes for a spot. It was Oktoberfest season and they had a good selection of Oktoberfests available, both German and domestic. We were pretty hungry so decided to get a sausage platter. Don't recall the name but it had 4 sausage varieties plus a pretzel-wrapped sausage, a bunch of pierogies, couple of different sauerkrauts and a big bowl of fries. It was a lot of food, probably the right amount for 4 hungry people because we had some left. It was all very good. We especially liked the white sausage. At about $50, it was a lot of food at a good price. The service was very good, especially considering how crowded it was. This spot is v.cool, it's very casual and the service is spot on. Lindsey (sp?) Is super charismatic and hospitable! She made us feel like regulars on our second day in town and was extremely attentive to everyone and knowlegable about the menu and all things Boulder. She recommended the local "Upslope' craft beer, which I happened make my go-to brew my whole entire trip (since I rarely drink beer). BB is lucky to have her on their team. If I lived here, this would be my spot. If you want to chill and feel the local vibe without too much fanfare, I'd come before 6pm. I feel like anything in this small-ish Mountain Town gets real 'Live' after that. This place is bad ass. I have been here on several occasions, during a night out on the town, for dinner, and just for a quick drink. For food, my favorite option here is the brussels sprout dish, but they also have a lot of great sausages, if you're into that kind of stuff check it out. But more importantly, for beer, they are a very European style bar with something like 8 or 9 beers on tap most of which are German, Czech or Austrian and they come in Liters or Half Liters. They always have something going on the back room at night. Sometimes it's just a German guy calling people up on stage, having competitions, making fun. Other times they have comedians, or movie night. Bottom line, if you are in Boulder, you should check this place out. read more

Really great atmosphere! I like that it's a little off Pearl Street so it isn't quite as hectic. The cider they had on tap was the best cider I've ever had (pretty sure it was just called Crisp Apple Cider or something along those lines). I got the fish n chips as my meal and wow it was HUGE. If you're thinking about getting it, plan on not eating 24 hours prior or afterwards or have someone to share it with. It was 2 huge pieces of fish each about 6/7 inches long and easily over an inch thick. All in all, it is a great place to relax after a long hike! read more

What a great place! I spent Christmas in Colorado and wanted to explore Boulder a little. One day I randomly stopped by for a beer and drinks with my family and decided to come back because of the great customer service and a friendly vibe in this place. I don't remember name of our server, a very tall guy who also works behind the bar. He deserves 10 stars. Very nice person, great customer service. He helped us again when we came back after a few days. Other than that, food is very good, tastes very similar to what you'd get in Czech or Poland and they have a huge variety of European beers. Next time I'm in Colorado I'll definitely stop by. Oh, one more thing - this restaurant is dog-friendly. We started with perioges which we loved then it kept getting better. We followed the perioges with the gnocchi (mushroom) and goulash. Then ended with the Apple strudel. We live in Indiana and I would come back to Colorado just to eat here again. The food was delicious and the history of the place is sooooo dang interesting. I was visiting Boulder and I chose this place since I love german food. The place looked nice and inviting and the service was good but the food was disappointing. I order the chicken schnitzel and the schnitzel itself was good but all the sides around it were below average. The potato salad was literally swimming in water. I had to move the schnitzel to another plate and blot out the liquid with two napkins. Then I discovered that the potatoes themselves were completely underdone and hard. So I left that aside. The beet salad was nice but uninspiring. The fried egg that came with it was weird and I didn't really get why it was part of the dish but it was well made. I also ordered a side of spatzle which was long and stringy instead of small and round but perhaps you find it like that in some areas of Germany. I personally have never seen it like that. It was served dry and it was ok but nothing to write home about. Overall, the dish was ok but I don't see myself ordering it again. read more

I love the feel of this place! The most German-feeling beer garden I've been to outside Bavaria. The decor is amazing with a vintage feel. Service is outstanding, plenty of seating, not too loud.
