We shared a Biergarten salad and it was very good with butter lettuce, cucumbers, picked red peppers, lardons .... My husband had the Jager Schnitzel and I had the Pork Senfbraten- so tender and tasty, unbelievable. Our dinner was delicious, tasty and the service was great, super friendly staff. Dined here with a couple friends a few weeks ago. We sat on their patio, though they were open inside too. Our server was super friendly...anyone who cards me and notes that I don't look my age is A-OK in my book LOL. She told us about an hierloom tomato salad that was on special and we ordered two for the table. Outstanding dish. WOW. Everything is usually great except they stopped serving their handcut steak tartare. That was one of the main reasons I came here so now I'm sad. During my visit today, we ordered the pretzel with beer cheese and the spaetzle and our food was cold. Went here with my husband after shopping at the Pearl Street Mall. So glad we found this place. We were seated outside right away which was really great because it was a beautiful day. Had the feel of a German biergarten. We ordered the pretzel which was delicious and the waitress informed us that they are made fresh daily. Pretzel came with two yummy mustards and we added the beer cheese. Was great with a cold beer. I had the Reuben sandwich my husband had the Schnitzel sandwich. Both were large portions (next time we would share one sandwich!) and really tasty. Will come back here if we are ever back in Boulder. I've been here several times and like coming back. The ambience is great but often there is a wait at peak hours. I like the sausage platter, schnitzel, spaetzle, gnocchi, and beet salad. I did not like the fries or the pierogies as much. The beer selection is decent. This is by far the best German bar. Let me tell you why! DECOR: With brick walls covered in vintage folk art, this place has quite a Bavarian design. The style resembles a beer hall, with long horizontal wooden tables and benches spread across the the room. This makes for an open and friendly atmosphere! FOOD: There is plenty of Polish and German options! We decided to share the sourbrawten and dumplings, along with an appetizer of perogies. Super delish! They also offer German Schnitzel with spatzle and cabbage, which we were almost tempted to try had we not been so full from the other dishes! They also offer dinner platters catered for a party of 10+, which includes various meats and cheeses. BEVERAGES: With a full list of Oktoberfest beers, I opted to try the pumpkin cider, while my hubs went for a lager. On Tuesday, they offer the "das boot" special, featuring a liter of beer of $8. This place was a fun night out! We went for the 7pm Sunday Stand Up Comedy show. We arrived around 6:15 and got dibs on a good seat and ordered beers and food while we waited. He beer selection was pretty good. Several legit German beers, all came out in huge glasses. The Bohemia IPA was a favorite of mine. For food, we ordered the Platter for 2-3 people, which came with 2 spicy sausages, 4 pierogis, beef stroganoff (small cup), fries or spatzle (noodles), red cabbage, sauerkraut, and pretzel bread. It was a decent amount of food for the 4 of us. We also got an appetizer of veggies with garlic and walnuts, pickled veggies and applesauce and couldn't finish everything. The comedy show was good. It lasted about 1.5 hours and there were 5 comedians. 3 male, 2 female. The service for drinks definitely slowed down once the show started, so fill up your giant glass before the show begins. The window was left open so a cold breeze carrying the smell of cigarettes and cannabis wafted in. Bathrooms were clean. Staff were friendly. read more

I love the food here. Although you'll feel full all day if you come for lunch! Pretzel (not ginormous) with 3 mustards, we also got the latkes which I was craving. Beer sizes are huge. Beer itself is good. Wait staff is really friendly. I would definitely consider it a kid friendly place for lunch or dinner. They have the casual bench layout that helps when your child can't sit well at a small table. My daughter does better here than Mountain Sun I think just because of the layout. Felt incredibly unwelcome with the staff due to the rushing of getting my group out of here. They were inconsiderate and short and displayed SEXISTS behavior when asking for more drinks. Additionally, we were discriminated based on how we looked and our age. Overall, horrible experience with the staff and will not be returning with friends. First time we walked in, I was immediately reminded of beer halls in Prague. Warm, dark wood all around, long, heavy wooden tables, heavy wooden chairs and benches, and an ineffable atmosphere that is difficult to explain in words. (I'm usually not a fan, at all, of long, communal dining tables, but in a Czech-style beer hall, they are beautifully appropriate.) That is the front room. In the back of the place, past the bar and down a little corridor, is a larger and more open room, also made of warm woods. My favorite meal at BB- the jager schnitzel, which comes with red cabbage, and either spaetzle or gruyere fries. I love spaetzle, but the gruyere fries are delicious, so I usually choose those. The pork schnitzel is always perfectly cooked, and the brown mushroom gravy is so good that I could eat an entire bowl of it with a spoon. Maceo often orders this meal as well, and sometimes a pork schnitzel sandwich. Paulaner Weissbier. I usually prefer excellent American craft beers, but I have a soft spot for Paulaner. First time I ever visited Germany, years ago, the first beer I had in-country was Paulaner Weissbier. BB always has it on tap, served in various quantities including, of course, in a big glass boot (haven't tried that size yet). At BB it's the only beer we order. One quibble. Even pre-inflation and pre-COVID, the prices were always a little high for what was served. ($13 for one sausage and fries, for example.) Lunch for two people- two entrees and a total of two beers- with tax and tip costs us about $65 to $70. Service. Usually decent, but becoming increasingly strange. On our last visit, we called beforehand to see if BB was open (hours being inconsistent because of COVID, apparently). I asked the young woman who answered if BB was open. There was a long pause, and then she sighed dramatically, and said, "Unfortunately." I thought something might be wrong, so I asked if everything was okay. She sighed deeply again, and said that she hadn't wanted to come to work, but that if we showed up, she guessed she could serve us. It was more funny than anything, because she was affecting a world-weary ennui, as if she envisioned herself as a fin de siecle Parisian poet, lounging with laudanum-addicted fellow artists in a Left Bank coffee shop. When we arrived at BB and were seated, she provided adequate and pleasant enough service, just with long, dramatic sighing. The food was delicious. A little less drama would have been nice. Everything about the Biergarten is ok. If you're looking for a quiet (quiet-ish) place, this is probably not the place for you. However, it is some great people watching (rich, hippie-esque sorority girls sprinkled with some actual hippies.. a great juxtaposition!). However, the beer is aplenty and one is able to get cozy with strangers when sitting on the long, wooden community tables. The next time I venture to Biergarten, I shall have to try some of their food... the schnitzels are calling mah name. read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the Boulder area. It's hard to find good spatzle and this place has the best spatzle outside of my German grandmother's house. I'm really glad a German bar like this exists. That being said, I lived in Germany, and the German food is not anything to get excited about. The wurst don't really taste German. The weisswurst does not taste anything like weisswurst. The spätzle is greasy. If you are looking for home-cooked German food, this isn't the place. The food was ok. I like my schnitzel a little thinner and the crispy gnocchi was fairly soggy. But it really was the waiter that was unacceptable. Don't put your hand on my shoulder during a pandemic, don't call me "baby" and "little girl", don't ask me if I want another drink and then never deliver it, and if I tell you that I have to go because I am on a layover and have to get to the airport, don't sit around talking with the other tables and your friends, making me ask for my receipt from the manager and lie, saying it had only been a minute since I asked. This spot is v.cool, it's very casual and the service is spot on. Lindsey (sp?) Is super charismatic and hospitable! She made us feel like regulars on our second day in town and was extremely attentive to everyone and knowlegable about the menu and all things Boulder. She recommended the local "Upslope' craft beer, which I happened make my go-to brew my whole entire trip (since I rarely drink beer). BB is lucky to have her on their team. If I lived here, this would be my spot. If you want to chill and feel the local vibe without too much fanfare, I'd come before 6pm. I feel like anything in this small-ish Mountain Town gets real 'Live' after that. Great batter for the fish & also fish somehow seemed very fresh. Beet salad was over the top. Also service including placing the order over the phone was excellent.
