I've been looking for almost 20 years for the right message to deal with muscle tightness and arthritis after being a long time athlete. Thank god I've finally found Suzanne. I've tried all kinds of massage, chiropractors, physical therapists, sports medicine doctors. Suzanne is all of those things in one. She focuses deeply and intensely loosening the specific muscles causing the larger pain. She's self described as freakishly strong - which is exactly what I need to break through years of muscle tightness and knots. She's a miracle worker, and cares more about her client's wellbeing, without follow-up checks and all, than anyone short of a doctor or surgeon. Roger has amazing hands! I started seeing him at my chiropractor's office. I have to say that after an hour with him I was looser and felt much better than 2 months with the chiro! I have continued to see him for muscle spasms in my back and shoulders as well as all over tightness. He immediately finds just "the spot" and really gets in there to release the tension. READER NOTE: this is not a "spa-type" massage of someone lightly rubbing and sweeping hands across you. Roger does "therapeutic-type" massage. I went to see Roger at RPM after reading so many great reviews about him (he also happens to work at my awesome chiropractor's office). I've had plenty of massages by many different therapists, but this was - by far - the most helpful massage I had ever gotten. I train for footraces, which makes me prone to pain and tightness all over my body. Roger has a phenomenal understanding of how the musculoskeletal system works - especially what causes stress and pain, and how they can be relieved. The deep tissue massages I've gotten in the past generally consisted of pressing repeatedly on problem spots, but Roger actually finds the precise part of the body that is causing the issue. This is much more efficient, since pain and discomfort is often a result of a chain reaction of multiple things that are going on. I got a 90 minute massage from Roger, and it was definitely worth the time and money. He spent the first 5 minutes or so asking questions about my lifestyle and how I exercise; he also inspected my posture to make any obvious observations about what could be contributing to my pain. I asked him many questions during the massage ("what are you doing?" "why does that hurt?"), and he didn't seem to mind at all; this was great because I was learning a lot about what was going on in my body (and Roger is iike an encyclopedia). Even though Roger's massages are very precise and efficient, he's also extremely sensitive and gentle. He was able to relax my muscles whenever they tensed up, and was able to work out my knots with minimal discomfort. I would recommend Roger to anyone, particularly those who are involved in sports and physical activity. He is super friendly and VERY talented at his work. Can't say enough good things about a massage by Roger... not sure how he does what so many CMT's can't... he has the ability to find and fix most problems without even having to tell him where the issues are. With that said, he always ask where any problem spots are beforehand, and is incredibly professional and polite. Same thing with pressure... he knows when to turn it up/down. Roger is the greatest. I have a number of soft tissue issues and the muscles have gotten really tight around the problem areas. It's so bad that I'm sensitive to touch in some areas. Oh my goodness, my God sent angel! I was already feeling really bad then I went on vacation and slept on a hard bed that triggered my downward spiral. When I sat down I would have this numbing pain running through my back. I needed someone who would understand my situation and work it out. I lost my previous massage therapist. Then I found Roger and he was so patient with asking me questions and assessed my body. I didn't need a feel good massage, I need someone who knew how to work out my extremely tight muscles. I already had a bad case of frozen shoulder the previous year so no messing around, needed my issues treated. I have a number of issues - lower back pain which pulls everything else out of place. My experience is similar to the other recommendations. Roger asked me what my ailments/soreness was and really is a muscle therapist! Hehad me do snow angels as well and really helped me understand where my pain/soreness was coming from. And his prices are EXTREMELY reasonable! I have 2 herniated discs and have been out of shape for years. Working with Roger these past 6 months have made a huge difference in my life. My chronic pain is gone, I stand upright (I had a serious left hand lean for a while) and I have started doing normal workouts again. Roger's knowledge of the body and muscles is astounding to me. He worked in tandem with Dr. Brink (my Chiropractor) over at the SCORE clinic and the 2 of them have done wonders for me. Roger is the best massage therapist that I have been to. You do not need to tell Roger where your back hurts...after a few strokes he will tell you where your sore spots are and he will also tell you why, and what you need to change in your posture or driving position and he has been right on 100% of the time. I work at the computer all day long and go to see Roger regularly when my neck stops moving from all the tension..usually a couple of sessions help drastically. I finally decided to get a massage. I had one in Napa about 20 years ago, and it was ok, but nothing exciting... Roger was recommended by Nicole a Zumba instructor and when she said he helped her with a problem that was tough I was sold. I really need help with some shoulders, neck, arm, back etc... and I'm a little apprehensive about what kind of pressure I could take (turns out I was good at 1 1/2, which was tough for me.. but I'm going to try a higher pressure next time and see if I can take it). When I walked in, it was very welcoming, the décor is beautiful... from the waiting room to the restroom to the massage rooms, I really enjoyed it. Roger was very good at making me comfortable in every way. I only wish I had booked a 90 minutes session instead of 60! I left feeling better, however I went know that I need more treatments for my arms and shoulders, and will continue to work on the issue with Rogers help. I wish I could go 2 times a week! Not only does he know the human body in amazing detail, and works on the issues you have explaining what he's doing, he also gives you a great massage! From the warm bed to the lighting and music.. it was perfect! Roger's therapeutic massage is absolutely the best. He was recommended to us by my husband's trainer. Roger is so strong that he can work on the beefiest athletes, but he is also so careful and communicative that he can work miracles on a soggy noodle like me. I went to see Roger again after weeks of my back being in a lot of pain. I left with a so much relief. I work out quite a bit. Roger will let me know which exercises are serving me and what isn't. I came to him with low back issues and our first session were doing a quick Q & A about what I do, what hurts, etc. after ten minutes he tells me that one shoulder is higher than the other, one hip is forward, and other stuff and that's why my back hurts, they're all tied together. Roger has been my massage therapist for about 4 years now, and has been consistently wonderful, every time. I've been to other massage therapists, and he is by far the best. He applies firm but tender pressure, and gets right to the sore spots. He knows how to help me relax, and alleviates all of the muscle tension I come in with! What can I say about Roger? He's changed my life -- and I'm not exaggerating. I'm 38 and I began training for triathlons 2 years ago. Roger's therapy and advice has kept me pain and injury free for the entire time, and his therapeutic approach has changed the way I think about my body. I originally visited Roger about 3 weeks after I first began to train. I had some knee pain and feared that my hopes would be dashed soon after they started. What Roger taught me then -- and still teaches me today -- is how my muscles work together to create a healthy body. I was having knee pain because my quads were too tight. In 60 minutes, my pain was gone. He has since performed the same miracle for ankles, shoulders, hips, back, etc. Roger reinforced in my mind the importance of active (massage, stretching) and passive (rest, sleep) recovery that I had never considered. It's not just how hard I push, but how much emphasis I put on recovery that defines my successes. Roger is a true healer. He knows where to go and what to do just by looking at me. He hits all the right spots without me having to say a word. He cares about my well-being. He wants to help each person that walks through the door. Sometimes when I'm not feeling all that bad, I almost feel guilty taking up his time -- when he could be helping someone else (then I get on the table and I don't feel guilty anymore). As a bonus, Roger is ridiculously strong -- which is essential for me as I need every bit of pressure a massage therapist can give me. Somehow, though, he manages to also be extremely gentle in his approach. I really think he can do it all. You really need to experience Roger to see how this is even possible. I have had many different massage therapists over the years due to persistent osteoarthritis and surgeries, and I knew right away that Roger knew what he was doing. We worked together for a few months - there was a great deal of scar adhesion and muscle lockdown, but after several sessions I was able to get off the cane and am now walking almost normally again. I still see Roger when I can because I still have problem areas after not having a normal gait for many years, and he is still doing wonders for me. My surgeon was amazed when I saw him in December and said I was walking the best he had seen me do since the surgery, so keep doing whatever I was doing. When I told him it was massage therapy and chiropractic, he got a funny look on his face and said, uh, ok, keep doing that - it's too bad the regular medical establishment doesn't accept the therapeutic benefits of real massage therapy, the kind that Roger offers. I went to score chiropractic 4 yrs ago for a lower back problem, (BTW they were great for Chiro and I very much admire Dr. O) and found out they had a massage therapist. Roger. On my first visit, he diagnosed and fixed, in ONE HOUR, a rotator cuff pain that I had from a skiing accident 20 years ago. It's been 4 years now and it has never bothered me again.
