Went through the groupon as well - my sister got it for me as a gift last summer and I finally got a chance to use it. I came into the place scattered, harried, and basically all over the place. Tasha did a great job staying calm and accommodating for my "special needs". I had a pretty recent injury that affected my shoulders and back, and Tasha did a great job soothing and helping those muscles/tendons with the healing process. Her pressure was good - not anywhere near deep tissue, but perfect for what I needed - a relaxing spa experience. In fact, I nearly fell asleep during the massage which is very rare for me, especially for a first time. The pressure was definitely not too light either. Extremely weird. Would have been my first time here. I was turned away from my appointment. On my entrance slip I had mentioned yelp/Groupon. I purchased a Groupon but Eileen said I couldn't use it. She said you had to mention that you had a Groupon which makes sense but that was me mentioning it... When you purchase the Groupon it says you are required to make an appointment. So very confusing as to why they would turn away a first time customer. Such a bummer. Really weird vibe in the place anyway maybe it turned out better this way. Hopefully Groupon will refund me or something. Oh well! Life goes on. Just a heads up for anyone planning to buy a Groupon. I've lived in three different states and had massages in 4, and hands down David is the best I've found. My mom was (the absolute best) massage therapist long ago, trained at Dessert Healing Institute, which was bought out but was considered one of the top massage schools in the country, but since becoming sick she isnt practicing, and I must say as a result I'm quite picky with therapists!! I normally seek female therapists but seriously so happy I gave David a chance. He is strong yet gentle, and incorporates stretching which I LOVE. He is also very gentle and responds well to feedback. I have fibromyalgia so finding a therapist that doesnt kill my pressure points, but also isn't light as paper in non-pressure points is a challenge. I woke up with very bad neck pain today and needed to have someone work on it on short notice. I called Amanda at Pure Massage. Even though she was fully booked, she told me that she'd be willing to take time away from her lunch break to fit me into her schedule because my pain was so bad. She was terrific: very polite, professional and knowledgeable. Throughout the massage, my pain would flare up at times but Amanda was very aware, slowing down and reducing her applied pressure. I was in a very poor mood all morning, but the massage and her personality took me out of my funk. After the massage, she told me about some stretches that would help prevent my issues in the future and provided other immediate steps for alleviating my pain symptoms. The facility itself was very clean and comfortable. Bottled water was provided in the massage room, including sparking mineral water. Out in the entryway there were other beverages and snacks. I don't Yelp much, but when I feel that I've been given excellent customer service, I want people to know about it. I highly recommend Pure Massage, and Amanda especially. My first time trying a proper prenatal massage (last time I got one I didn't have a belly yet so I was able to lay on my stomach like a standard massage). My masseuse was Eileen. I really like her vibe, pretty chilled, very gentle and polite demeanor. They have a hug pillow for when you lay on your side, and it's in the shape of a puppy, so cute and so soft! 4 stars for the back massage! I really liked it and felt totally relaxed afterwards. Also she gave me a big discount for prepaying for the next session, so I got a 75 min massage for next time (this time I got 60 min, so good, wanted a longer session, especially at a discounted rate!) Only 1 star off because when she got to my head, she went very very light, so it didn't feel like a head massage, more like a head-touching... Also didn't like how she massaged my face, even tho it was brief, I personally really dislike when my facial skin is pulled downward (you gotta work against gravity, not with it!) Would recommend this place highly, just be sure to voice your preferences! read more

I injured my back and needed immediate relief. I had sharp stabbing pains and my MD had recommended that I get into physical therapy ASAP. The wait list had me out for another month before I could even get in! In the mean time I decided to look into massage therapy. As I recently moved to SJ, I didn't have anyone I knew or trusted.. but I was desperate for help with my severe pain. I did research online and decided to give David a try based on so many positive reviews. He is wonderful and a complete professional. The location is small, intimate, very clean and nicely decorated. David gave me a consultation (which did not cut into my massage time) to help pin point my needs and tailor my massage. He made sure I was comfortable at all times. He is extremely accommodating and is very knowledgeable. Trust his skills! I felt completely relaxed and at ease with his work and him as a person. I have recovered very quickly thanks to David and I can't recommend him enough! Edit: Just saw David again today and he is seriously the best! I can't sing enough praises about him. I bought a groupon for this massage. The service was excellent. My massage therapist was Heaven and she did a great job. She listened to where my stressed points were and focused on those areas more. I don't get massages often, for me if I come out feeling refreshed and more relaxed I am pretty happy. So, i booked another appointment for the following month. I gave them 4 stars because its not that easy to find in the Campbell area. The sign for the facility is really small and the parking area is under the business building. When I walked into the business building it was a little scary cause- it was not like the other massage places I have been too. However, once you are in their designated area its actually really clean and the massage rooms are bigger than you would expect. read more

I had a headache that wouldn't go away, so decided I'd go in for a massage. When I called, the receptionist said they were booked for the day, however, she put me on hold and spoke to Tasha, who was willing to see me for a 30 minute session at the end of the day. Good customer service. When I arrived, the place was clean and welcoming. Unlike most smaller, massage rooms, their room was bigger and could have easily held 2-3 beds. Before starting the massage, Tasha took the time to listen to my issue, then described what she was going to do (her treatment plan). I've received many massages in the past, but this was by far the best display of listening and explaining her plan. Saw a Groupon opportunity for Pure Message Therapy so I decided to give it a try. They have an on-line scheduling process, but you can call as well. It took a bit of time as slots are limited for Groupon holders. (Can't blame them because Groupon is definitely overwhelming). My schedule is flexible so I was able to find a time slot that worked for me in no time. I knew it wasn't going to be a fancy place since it is in the Cambrian Park Plaza Shopping Center so I wasn't expecting much. It's located in the back behind the antique shop, but on the Directory it is identified as Wellness Center. I walked in and was greeted immediately by Tasha my therapist. The lobby was small, unassuming, but clean. She escorted me into a dimly lit massage room and showed me where I can change and the facility is next to the room. I don't really care for a rest room right next to the message room, but that is just my own quirkiness about rest rooms. The massage room and the rest room are very clean so I felt comfortable. Tasha asked about my stress points and where I'd like to have my massage concentrated on which was very nice. She then started the session. Her pressure is OK, but I am use to deep tissue. My overall experience was positive, but not WOW. Pricing for their services is average. I'd give her another try and I will ask for a firmer pressure next time, but my search for my "perfect' masseuse continues. read more

The entire time, I kept requesting for more pressure and the entire session was all about how the pressure felt. It wasn't very relaxing. I was hesitant at first when I found out it would be a male mousse, BUT my concern is completely gone after this session. Dave is VERY professional and very friendly. The environment is small but relaxing and clean. I think he even went over the 45 min :) You can keep as much clothes as you want on for the massage session. So lets just say I am not a fan fan like I wont drop my other place for them to start being a regular there. I would bring the masseuses with me though. I was greeted by a very friendly face right away she just knew it was me (off course she did I had an appointment) The lobby was nice and clean, very relaxing,I was given a couple of forms to fill out then informed that the restrooms were located outside the suite, and if I needed to use the restroom to do so before entering my massage room. I went ahead and took the advice and on my return Jackie the masseuses was waiting for me. Jackie greeted me on my return she was very friendly and welcoming I cracked a joke about wearing my shades indoors being an accident and me not trying to be a diva we laughed and walked over to the room. Now here is the reason why I am not a super fan....At no time was I offered a glass of water, guess I look forward to that cucumber floating in my glass of water. The location of the massage room is right smack wall to wall to the ladies room...So while you are trying to relax to the soothing music and wonderful massage you get the great sounds of Women's Stilettos, 2inch heals loafers and flushing of the good ole toilet not to mention the loud cell phone conversations as they walk into the bathroom and the blowing of the nose. It was very difficult for me to block those sounds out and fully enjoy my massage. So if you can bare those sounds and some how block them out (May I perhaps suggest sound canceling earphones ) then I say go and ask for Jackie, I asked for a deep tissue massage and boy did she deliver. So bring your sound canceling ear phones and own water since as you may know you need to keep fully hydrated after a deep tissue massage. read more

This was one of, if not the, best massages I've ever had. Eileen was very soothing and discussed all of her methods up front to see what I was interested in, and she checked in throughout the massage. She managed to loosen my tight muscles with some high pressure, but the massage overall was still very relaxing. She even used hot stone therapy even though I had only booked a standard massage, making this WELL worth the price. Pricing was reasonable for the area, especially with a Groupon. Simply put, one of the best--if not *the* best--massage I've ever received. David was trained in Asian Bodywork at Five Branches University, a traditional Chinese medicine school. His knowledge of the muscles in the body is crazy-amazing! I went in complaining about tennis elbow and locked up shoulders (gotta love computer work). He worked on my upper back and used a combination of acupressure and massage to release the tension in my upper body and arm. WOW. I could have seen a physical therapist for the tennis elbow, but David did such an incredible job that I'm now a firm believer--and continue to see him regularly for massage. I know some women will have an issue with a male massage therapist. For the record, David is very careful and consistent in telling you what he's going to do (even if you've been to him before). He's a true professional in a field where almost anyone can claim to be a massage "therapist". David really listens to me when I tell him how my injuries affect my body, and they are different week to week. I like that he tries new things with me, he even teaches me different stretching techniques pertaining to the pain I am experiencing, he is not just a masseuse. I found this place after a lot of research and finally decided to give it a try. They are in Campbell tucked away in a quiet spot on Campbell Avenue. They have parking, so you don't have to park on the street. My experience was great from start (making an appointment) to finish. My therapist, Tasha, was very very good. She asked me all the right questions and seemed to understand my needs well. I'm a runner, transitioning to bare-foot running. So I wanted Tasha to focus on my legs. She did a fantastic job. She's very strong and seemed perfectly capable of breaking my bones! She was very firm with me and was so good, I almost fell asleep by the time she hit my feet. The place is very neat and clean. The guy that massaged me was very awkward at check in, and I didn't even know he was my masseuse, and not the receptionist, until he escorted me back to a room. I originally bought a massage from Pure Massage Therapy through their GroupOn deal. It's tough to go wrong with a $40 massage. But after setting up an appointment with Jackie, I was blown away. It was a great massage and I scheduled a massage for the following month. My second massage was at their new location. The new location is a little tricky to find, but if you look at the street view on Google Maps, you shouldn't have a problem finding the place. Again, Jackie was absolutely awesome and I left feeling revitalized and renewed. Dave is my Massage Therapist and he is first rate! I injured my lower back about four months prior to going to Pure Massage Therapy and had a huge amount of sciatica pain in my right leg all the way down to my foot. I could hardly walk. My MD had recommended physical therapy, however, I was not getting much relief, so I suspended the physical therapy even though my insurance was paying for it and I decided to go to Pure Massage Therapy on my own dime instead. Dave took an excellent pre-massage history of my current condition, then tailored my massage to my personal needs and worked perfectly with me to zero-in on where my pain areas were, applying just the right amount of pressure to the various areas where I was experiencing pain. I really appreciate his concern and therapy skills and my awful sciatica pain is virtually gone. The office is very clean, friendly and professionally run. My wife also gets massages from Dave and holds the same feelings on Dave's professionalism and skills and concern for his clients.
