In the end, it wasn't all that difficult since I more or less did it lazily. :-) I think it is doable for people at all levels of fitness and experience at Barre. The instructor (Kerry) made it adaptable to all levels, which I appreciated. The vibe of the teacher (Kerry) and the studio was friendly and positive. The owner was also there, and she was friendly, as well, to incoming students at the front desk.

I've been coming here for a few months now and am glad that I gave this place a try. My goals are…read moreto improve strength and gain muscle injury free. You do about 6-7 exercises per visit with the intention of performing 90-120 seconds worth of reps per exercise. By the time you hit that 90-120 second mark you are experiencing muscle fatigue (the muscles are burning/shaking) to achieve the maximum benefit. Christian was my trainer and he is fantastic. Very encouraging (you've got this, you're strong, etc), great cuing (only 2 more reps, next rep you'll hold for 3 seconds, etc) and really listens to what's going on with you/your body (as it's hard to be 100% or fully rested each visit). The office is clean and orderly. This is another deceptively larger building then it looks from the outside. There are 4-5 separate rooms with different equipment so it's not one big setting where different sets of customer/trainers are crammed together. I've noticed a positive difference in the 3 months.

MD at The Perfect Workout in San Jose truly changed my life. I came in with real concerns and left…read morestronger, healthier, and pain-free. Training before my ACL surgery was a game-changer. The prehab we did cut my knee rehab time dramatically -- literally days instead of weeks. My surgeon and physical therapist were blown away by how fast and strong my recovery was. On top of that, I had been dealing with sciatica that no one else seemed able to fully solve. MD identified the root cause, addressed it methodically, and it's been completely cured ever since. No flare-ups, no recurring pain -- just gone. MD is incredibly knowledgeable, precise, and offers personalized coaching. You're never just "working out" -- you're training with purpose, safety, and long-term results in mind. If you're in San Jose and want smart training that actually fixes problems (not just burns calories), this is the place. I couldn't recommend it more.

I…read morehave never taken physical training courses that focuses on the fundamentals (the core strength, the range of motions), without the exercises getting mundane. In the last 4 years, I have gained strength, stamina, and sheer kick-ass in kick-boxing, all while gaining range in motion and flexibility. Jeff is a thoughtful instructor, and his instructions are on par with elite personal training, while being conducted in a a context of a group exercise setting. It is NOT P90X, T25, cardio kick-boxing, most of which focuses on grotesque amount of repetition and speed, in my opinion, which can lead to injuries. Rather, bFit focuses on correct form and range, which through time and repetition, you transform. The classes are filled with a varying level of students in capability. The students are passionate, but not intimidating. Atmosphere is friendly, and not cliquey. I think there is a camaraderie created from enduring through the bFit regiments, and there is a general sense of team that just happens when people go through hardships together. Over the years, the classes have remained challenging. In good part, due to the constantly changing program and motions and varying equipments including TRX, Kettle Bells, and Sand Bags. Also, in great part, due to Jeff's friendly by seriousness towards his students. I haven't had a specific physical goal. I just want to be healthy. bFit is how I gauge my level of fitness. I'll continue to go, so that I maintain my goal. Also, and very important here, girls in the classes also really really kick ass. It really tones down the testosterone level of military exercises, when my GAWD, ... did I mention, the girls in the classes really kick ass!?!?

I worked with Jeff to find modifications in order to build up my strength and now I am able to do almost everything he throws at us during classes and I feel great! I used to have pain in my should and down my arm and all of that is gone. It's definitely not one of those classes where you feel like you're intruding on everyone else or you're slowing anyone down. Jeff takes the time to show you in detail what you should be doing and what you should be feeling while you're doing an exercise. He is extremely patient with you and would rather you be doing something right or be doing a completely different exercise than to hurt yourself in any way. Also, it's not just the same class all the time. He often changes things up and there's always fun music to listen to. He has a few classes like burn-it (intense, but fun), build-it ( kettle bell, TRX bands, and weight training), kickboxing, and breathe (15mins, good for rolling out muscles). Definitely worth it!

I am one of the Los Gatos Spenga's founding members. I've been going here over four years and…read morerecently celebrated my 500th session. This means that this review is about three and a half years late. I first joined Spenga from a gym that did a lot of HIT workouts. The workouts were decent, but there was never time given to cool down and stretching. I heard about the new Spenga opening up in LG and was immediately interested due to the yoga. Spenga is a whole body work out-- spin/strength/yoga (20 minutes of each in an hour long session). If you have never done the Spenga work out-- it is HARD. Every single time. Because as you get stronger and stronger, your "sweet spot" (power output on the bike) gets higher and you are encouraged to lift heavier weights and do stronger yoga poses. The combination of spin/strength/yoga goes by quickly, especially as there's so much you have to pay attention to. But the reason I have stayed so long at Spenga is the instructors and the community. Some instructors (Marina) have been there from the start. She recently celebrated her 2000 session. Chloie-- also an OG-- celebrated her 1500 session. Having the same instructors mean they get to know you personally (which is a double-edge sword-- they will push you to work harder!!) One of the co-owners, Dan, is a regular-- he is often at the front desk or taking a class with us. The instructors and the front desk team make you feel welcomed. You are greeted by name (unlike other studios I've attended where they work hard to ignore you), and the instructors even ask you to introduce yourself to your neighbor in the work out. As I take classes at the same time every day, I get to know the other people in the class. We cheer each other on, especially during the tough workouts. There are lots of celebration moments-- check out Spengalg's instagram accounts to see pics of the clients hitting major milestones, working on their birthday, etc. Spenga attracts all kinds of people. It's a workout that has something for everyone. Whether you are looking to get back in shape, get into a shape you have never been, or wanting variety from your current routine, I'd recommend giving Spenga a visit!

I initially chose Spanga as a substitute class in addition to my Pilates and cardio. I had really…read morehigh hopes, thinking a 60-minute class combining spinning, strength, and yoga was a great concept and a well-diversified combination. After taking the initial trial class, I decided to buy a 10-class package to really try it out. Unfortunately, after taking a few more classes, I found myself really disliking it. The studio itself is really nice, and the staff is very kind. The spinning and yoga portions are pretty standard and totally fine. What I really dislike is the strength portion (the resistance and weight training part). It is held in an open setting with a maximum of 26 spots. The instructor gives a set of exercises and then lets members work at their own pace with their own selected weights. I found it not only very messy and unorganized, but also lacking in discipline and correction. Proper posture and choosing the right weights are extremely important in weight training. With 26 students doing their own thing, everybody is trying, but many have incorrect posture. This makes it ineffective and prone to injuries. Almost no corrections were given by the instructor. There are a couple of small TVs on the wall showing demonstrations of the assigned exercises, but they are quite small, and sometimes what is shown on screen differs from what the instructor demoed. There is another 60-minute class called Reps, which is pretty much pure strength and weight training. I took that class twice and had the exact same experience: it was messy, unorganized, and lacked discipline and form correction. One of the rap classes I took had 2 stripper-type ladies wore high heels dancing in the class. I think it was meant to boost everyone's morale... maybe ? but it totally weirded me out. Seeing 2 of them wearing tights and skimpy clothes, shaking their butt and booty, just looked weird and inappropriate to me. It totally weirded me out. If someone is already highly experienced in weight training and knows what they are doing, maybe this class works for them. But for the general public, based on what I saw, about 80% of the people have form problems. In some ways, this kind of setting defeats the purpose and can do more harm than good.I really want to use up the classes I bought. But every time I think about going, I feel resistant. Right now, these leftover classes are just going to be a waste of money for me.
