My first class: It was a little awkward since I had no idea what I was doing. It also seemed most of the rest of the class were newbies as well. In the end, it wasn't all that difficult since I more or less did it lazily. :-) I think it is doable for people at all levels of fitness and experience at Barre. I had been trying out different barre studios for a while, but didn't quite find my match until I found Karynn at Salt Lab. Her classes burn so good, the playlist is always amazing and features current songs, she demos the whole class so I never feel lost, and she always greets you with a smile! I appreciate how helpful and the instructors are and that they give corrections. The vibe is definitely very welcoming and not intimidating to beginners. Had an amazing first class with Devin today. As a new mom and being over 200 pounds, this style of class was intimidating. I'd never done it before, and didn't read much into it ahead of time. I just woke up and decided today was a day to work out (it's a weird feeling to have for me, but I'll go with it). I was greeted warmly and enthusiastically by Devin, asked her and was assured by her that this class would work for a first-timer like me, and I let expectations go after that. Devin was encouraging and gentle with corrections where needed. Modifications were suggested regularly, and I was checked in with as often as needed. I had a great time, and it was just challenging enough for me. I think I'm hooked, I got an unlimited pass right after. Call it fate, perfect timing, pure coincidence, whatever - the Dailey Method opened this past weekend in Los Gatos. I had been looking to boost my fitness routine and get into a healthier lifestyle when my sister-in-law stumbled upon the grand opening details of the LG Dailey Method on their website. Classes would be free all weekend and it was the perfect opportunity to try a workout I'd been hearing so much about. We instantly signed up for classes on both Saturday and Sunday. Now Monday, I hurt in places I had completely forgotten existed. The reminder of my hidden abs is back, my legs are sore all over, the padding on my arms is quivering in fear... it won't be there for long! The Dailey Method literally kicked my butt! The free classes were amazing and though the room was packed, it didn't feel like it. Instructors constantly came around to help and correct you, getting you into the perfect form to feel the burn even more. With their instruction I was able to do the workout at my wimpy, out of shape state but still sweat as much as the seasoned fitness guru across the room. Even better, the routine had enough changes in it on day 2 that I didn't feel like 'oh I've done this already' or that it would be too repetitive to hold my interest. Squats at the barre, flat back, fold over, c-curve are all going to be part of my vocabulary. The class was amazing and I was instantly sold on the program. I'm almost through with completing my second month of The Dailey Method. I bought the unlimited month for $100 for new clients and they offer a second month for $150. Pretty sweet deal. It's a very well crafted workout. But two things are keeping me from giving this place five stars, first is the price. When the unlimited introductory specials expire, the price shoots up to $225 a month for unlimited visits. And I've said this before, to really see results you need to go to classes three to five times a week. Second, some of the instructors are more effective than others. Some of them come across a little too militant for my taste... barking out correct form and snapping their fingers. Now to some this might be motivating, but to me it was more along the lines of 'annoying.' It's still a great workout. Your whole body is challenged. I've found it's better than lifting weights. I definitely recommend trying it as a part of your workout routine. read more

I was coming here regularly towards the end of 2017 and really loved the classes and instructors. But, I recently came here and have heard they changed owners and instructors. The interval class I took today was less focused on a total body workout and was more just core and legs. I would have liked to do some arm workouts and more hip opening exercises. Maybe it is because it was a shorter class (45 min) but it was also the structure that was really boring and I felt like I was doing the same exercises the whole class (straight arm planks, squats, and mountain climbers). Hopefully my review comes out as a useful suggestion for them as they continue to do the great work that they are already doing! read more

I've taken a few classes here through classpass now. Classes seem to be hit or miss (and so far for me, mostly just misses). I'm a really big fan of barre but TDM just doesn't seem to do it for me. You get a fair workout in but I find the music to be boring and instructors to not be as helpful as those at other studios I've been to. I used to go to dailey method back when It was in Saratoga, and recently started coming to the Los Gatos location through classpass. The vibe is older wealthy moms and there are almost always screaming children in the lobby. The studio is well lit and trendy, and they have a lot of cute merch available for purchase.The workout itself is OK depending on the instructor. I like the interval classes because they at least attempt to have an element of cardio even if it's not always very much. My favorite instructor so far has been Corina, but for she only teaches one class a week. The experience is very different based on the instructor because the moves aren't standardized. Overall, I wouldn't want to commit to a membership here but I like dropping in for the occasional class. read more

I would recommend this class. Be warned that the class is going to be challenging and painful, so don't get upset if you can't keep up. Even after 2 months, the class is still a challenge for me. I really like that instructors take classes so they can help you if the main instructor is busy. After 2 months, I have definitely seen significant improvement in my body, and I really like it (I go 3-4 times a week coupled with 3 mile walks 4-5 times a week) My advice would be: BE CAREFUL. The instructors advice you to push yourself, but a lot of times it doesn't really feel right. Don't be afraid to ask for advice. Because the moves are so dependent on alignment of your body, you can really hurt yourself even if you are making the smallest of mistakes! As a practitioner of yoga for about 8+ years I am a strong believer in listening to your body, and some of the moves are just really straining on your neck and lower back. SO...be careful and LISTEN to your body. read more

Amazing customer service! Do you know how some gyms lock you in and even if you get injured or something, they don't care? Dailey Method Los Gatos has amazing customer service and the owner Macey has an amazing personality and makes me feel very welcomed. I was very sick this past month, and I wasn't able to use my classes for 3 weeks. I talked to Macey, and she allowed me to push back 3 weeks, no questions asked. That right there, is a very caring owner. As for the actual classes, they really work my booty and my stomach is the flattest that it has been in a long time. I love all the instructors here, and I love how they just push you to give a tiny bit more, when I would have quit on my own. I feel like I can't hold the position any longer, and they say " Just 8 more counts and then a hold!" For a beginner, I would recommend Christina's class. The first day, I explained that it was my first time and she kept a really good eye on me, and gave me hands on corrections. That being said, EVERY teacher here is hands on and gives corrections to everyone in class. It isn't like those gym group workouts where the instructor stands in the front. This is like an individual training sessions, because the instructors are always walking around and correcting the students. It is a tiny bit pricey for me. BUT it is totally worth it. I just cut back on my Starbucks and slashed a bit off my grocery bills to budget this in. Getting a leaner body is totally worth skipping the cake at Whole Foods ;) I don't have kids, but there seems to be a playroom for the children and everyone is bringing their kids here. Also Panera is in the same lot, so you can get a snack for your kid after the class. There are also quite a number of pregnant women here, and it seems to be a safe workout for those people. In every class, the instructors say " do this,unless you are pregnant or have a lower back injury. If you are pregnant get on your knees instead". read more

I would give it 6 stars for how much I love the Dailey Method, but their fees knocked them down a bit. I have become more addicted to this class than I have ever been to any sort of fitness. I absolutely love the workout (especially with how much help you get from the instructors). It's the only work out I've ever tried, loved, and quickly noticed a difference in my body. The only reason I knocked a star off, is the price. As a broke college student, forking out the $100 for the introductory month was about all the budget allowed for fitness, so now I'm left with serious withdrawls but also do not have the $225/ month it costs to continue with the program :( The place would be absolutely awesome if only it wasn't so outrageously priced. So sad that only the rich get to indulge in this work out, cause it's truely unlike anything I've tried before. I do want to give credit to the staff, and especially the instructors, though. Do you have a work-out routine that you love and hate at the same time? Well, this is exactly how I feel about the Dailey Method. I hate it so much that I keep going. As a matter of fact, I seek it out - Los Gatos, Los Altos, anywhere! This is the only work-out where I feel the pain during the work-out and I feel perfectly alright afterwards. It is hard to imagine feeling great after a work-out when your abs are in pain, your legs are shaking and your arms like jello during. The 60minute that I spend doing the exercises seem like forever yet I feel really disappointed when the class comes to an end. Seriously, I have a love-hate relationship with the Dailey Method! The instructors are great. And they are all in amazing shapes and this is how I know that this workout is effective. The only thing really that I don't like about this work-out is the cost. It is very expensive at $225/month. I have been lucky that I got 3 LS and Groupon deals online but I don't know what I will do when they run out because I am seriously addicted. I will have some serious withdrawal symptoms when my Groupon runs out. They really have to be more realistic about their monthly charges. Too much!!! read more

I purchased a Groupon for 1 month of unlimited classes at TDM. I took my first class yesterday and I must say, I loved the workout, the energy of the instructor, and the hospitality provided at the front desk. I go to the gym fairly frequently (3-5 times a week) and I cannot remember the last time I woke up this sore! I'm excited to continue taking classes for the duration of the month and I love that they have classes later in the evening. My only complaint is the carpet - it was moist and smells like feet. It's actually kind of gross when you think about how many people have sweated on top of it and it's just soaking in everybody's bodily fluids. :X read more

After my first class, I am still able to lift my arms to type this, so I must not be that destroyed by the Dailey. I found this place by driving by it (yes, almost literally stumbled upon it). So I joined for a month on the new client fee ($100 for unlimited classes). Signing up was very easy; the website is user-friendly, immediately accessible, and cancelling a class session is also one-clickable. You can also sign up for childcare. It's all that easy. It's too early for me to review the actual fitness aspect since I just started it, so here's what I will say: - It's a little hard to be plopped into an ongoing class as a newbie because everyone else knows what she's doing, and there's no initiation -- it's sink or swim. I really would have preferred that DM set up newbie times on the schedule. I didn't know what the teacher was talking about, so my tucks were completely wrong. I still think my alignment is all wrong. - The studio childcare is a lot smaller than I was led to think by the website, which doesn't sound like a big deal to many folks, but to those of us who have young ones, it is. Just looking in at the room, I know my kid would not last through one class, and that does affect the timing of my sessions! - I signed in before class, but no one really noticed I was a new client until I brought it up and had to fill out and sign my waiver. From a business owner standpoint I think this part could be improved. read more

I'm only writing this review because of how professional and nice the owner, Macey is. I had an awful experience this past Friday at the desk with one of the associates, and Macey wasn't even present at the time. So you an imagine how shocked I was when I received a message from her on Sunday. I called her back on her cell number she had left for me on Sunday evening and left a voicemail, letting her know it was fine if she couldn't call me back until Monday. She called back immediately, apologized even gave me a few extra classes!!! She turned a very negative experience around into a very positive one and I cant wait to go back. As far as the classes go, they're fantastic. In and out in an hour, they don't shun you if you're a few minutes late and you're so sore the following day! It's also a different class every time you go, so your body doesn't get used to the repetitive motions. A great quick workout that works that you don't dread going to. And back to Macey, she has such a great philosophy on what customer service is, something that most businesses are really lacking these days. If this is important to you, definitely give this place a try. read more

This was my first time ever going to a Barre type of class so my rating is based on the instructor BECKY! I walked in to sign up and Becky just so happened to be in the front and asked if I was new. She was hands on, thorough, and made sure I did every workout correctly. She paid extremely extra attention to me and walked over every time and showed me the correct way to stretch out my muscles. This made me feel comfortable knowing I was doing it right, and very special too :) Because I was so pleased with my experience I decided to get the GroupOn unlimited classes for a month deal. I live in Sunnyvale and have no problem driving all the way here for something I know is worth the time and money that's how much I enjoyed this class. Love TDM! I've been coming for 8+ years and I still love it. Of course I have my favorite instructors, but they're mostly all great. I've loved the addition of Fusion classes, which adds some cardio to the Barre class. Between the Interval classes (cardio), Fusion (barre + cardio), and Barre classes, I'm getting everything I need in one studio. I decided to try TDM after a close friend of mine had been doing it for 2 years and had better body tone after 2 kids than she had ever had being an avid runner. I attended one class with her at the Menlo Park branch and decided that I could handle it. I started going 3x a week at the Los Gatos branch for 2 weeks, then increased to 4-5x/week. I really enjoy it. With the various instructors teaching at various times, no 2 classes are ever the same, which keeps workouts from getting monotonous. The workouts are safe, effective and fun, set to the beat of the instructors' music/playlists. As a beginner, I try to go to the Principles classes, as they tend to be less crowded and more focused on the basics. Going to a few of these in the beginning then make the mixed classes easier to focus on your own positioning/alignment rather than constantly looking at the instructor. I have never enjoyed or looked forward to working out until now. I love that TDM is a 1 hr workout that incorporates high repetition, low weight - working against your own body's resistance, stretching and breathing. Even though the workouts are very challenging, I am rarely sore afterwards in the same way I would be after lifting weights or doing circuit training. I hadn't mentioned that when I started TDM, I was 30 weeks pregnant and am now 35 weeks along. Despite putting on weight for my pregnancy, my arms, thighs and buttocks are more toned than they have ever been. Can't comment on the way my abs look but I know they are stronger and will be great for labor/pushing/delivery. Being new to TDM and pregnant, the instructors were very attentive and helped with variations and modifications to alleviate stress in the lower back and abdomen. As a women's health physician myself, I think that continuing to be active in pregnancy is extremely important for patients/expectant mothers. I would recommend TDM to expectant moms (with low risk pregnancies) and anyone who is looking to get into shape and develop whole body tone. read more

TDM is a good work out and I love the fact they have classes at 6am, before work. The classes have all been really crowded (too crowded for my liking) but that is because it is a great studio so you can't gripe too much about it. The clientele are nice gals of all ages, no pretentious people, everyone just wants to get in better shape. Though I did have another client literally push me out of the way because I was taking too long to figure out the sign in process on my first day and I was trying to get the attention of the girls behind the counter who were distracted in a personal conversation. So minus one star for the aloof front desk. That being said, I was able to finally grab their attention and they were very helpful and sweet and addressed all my questions. There was one instructor I had in the afternoon that was a total gangster. I was sore for like two days after. I wish I remembered her name because even though she was yelling at us like a drill sergeant, I totally dont care because she kicked my a$$ and abs!! read more

I came opening weekend for the free trial classes. I love a trial class, a free one even better especially when it's in such a pleasantly decorated studio in Los Gatos. But, don't let the serene setting fool you, you are in for some serious exertion involving more pointed feet, flexed legs, squatting and ab work than you can imagine being packed into 1 hour. And, I am surprised at the numerous uses that can be devised for a rubber ball (I'll say no more and let the suspense build...). I have always considered myself fairly flexible, given my age, lack of exercise over the last several years, blah blah blah. Well, these students impressed me and it didn't matter age, body weight or type - they seemed surprisingly at ease flexing their bodies in a wide range of positions. I would encourage anyone to try as this program not only strengthens the parts of the body you most want toned, it helps improve your body's stiffness/tightness. The owner also spoke throughout about the long-term health benefits of stretching and core conditioning . For the last year I have struggled with the dilemma of achieving a more lean, toned body without getting muscular as I strove to reduce my body weight. I am very optimistic about the promise of the Dailey Method combined with my other cardio exercise classes. read more

Barre is as difficult as one makes it. If one can successfully keep up with the instructions 100%, doing everything that makes the poses more difficult, it can be a challenging strength training class. I will admit I took a couple pauses where an additional crunch or leg lift was demanded because I definitely felt the burn. It is amusing how woman-centric the class was. They have a childcare room inside the studio. The instructor kept reminding people to do alternative poses if they had injuries or pregnancies, as if that were a common circumstance. I don't know why, but the chance of a man attending barre on his own free is probably close to 0%, even more skewed than typical group ex classes. Barre involves a lot of small, subtle repeated motions and once when the instructor was telling us to move our limbs an inch back and forth she said something like "imagine the amount when you ask for an inch off your hair," a reference for quite a filtered population, though I would guess appropriate for their regular clientele. The description made me smile. Like all the many competing modern studios around nowadays, The Dailey Method is as stylish as a boutique inside and extremely clean throughout. Personally, I prefer workouts from which I leave plastered with sweat (I suppose I'm a cardio junkie), but I do appreciate mixing up my workouts. read more

I love to workout and i think its important to change things up if you want to be balanced and challenge different muscle groups. My routine involves weights and cardio, typical gym rat, and i like to get some thai boxing one on one with a traditional instructor as well as changing it up with some yoga and a good hike. The Dailey Method was indeed challenging, effective for toning, lengthening and core conditioning. Personally, it is perfect for in addition to your current workouts, but i would not use The Dailey Method to replace my weights or cardio routine. The place is cute, clean and chic. Staff are friendly and they help you in class to make sure your posture and form are correct. As if was my first workout of this kind, i can not compare it to similar methods. I very much enjoyed this class, and i bought a package to continue my practice, for at least 10 sessions anyways ;). read more

This studio is great! I have gone to several barre classes and tend to go batty when traveling if I do not get my burn on. This is one of my favorite studios, definitely my new Nor Cal favorite. I went here on a whim when I saw a Groupon for it and was aching to find a place that I could do a barre workout in town. I went to a 6am "Daily Deeper" (a more experienced/advanced barre workout) class and this place was BUSY. I was a little surprised at how many women were in that class. The instructor, Dana, was easy to follow and great about helping the class to work on their technique while performing the moves. Everyone in the class was very welcoming to the newbie in the room. I will definitely return before I leave and can't wait to come again when I am back in town. read more

I found the Dailey Method Los Gatos thanks to ClassPass and I'm glad I did! When my sister and I first walked into the studio we were greeted by Joanna who gave us a warm welcome and a tour of facilities. She explained what to expect for our first barre class and what other classes the Dailey Method offered. Afterwards she introduced us to our instructor, Susan, who was very excited to be a part of our initial barre experience. The class was a great blend of Pilates, yoga, and ballet with Susan being incredibly helpful throughout the class. My sister and I didn't really know what we were doing so her instructions and hands-on modifications were much needed, haha! It's always a little intimidating trying new things or going to a new studio but I never felt that here, thanks in large part to the welcoming attitude from the staff! Honestly, these other reviews are totally accurate and not even worth repeating. I have never seen such changes in my body then after doing DM. "Longer, leaner muscles" and that is totally my experience. I've only been going for 2 months and excited what results I see after going longer. I've come to learn as I've gotten older is that yes working out is expensive but totally worth it. Can you think of something worth spending money on that gives you: a great body, happiness, and friends?? Not to mention long term effects of being HEALTHY!! They have amazing groupons/ living socials/trade program* and new member specials ALL the time. Worth researching before dropping in. Other things worth emphasizing: - GREAT instructors. I've had a lot multiple times and sometimes I've get someone I've never had before. They all are amazing. Great music, great work out, positive attitude and beyond friendly - child care..well I don't have a child but EVERYONE seems to bring their kid here while they take a class. I joined the Dailey Method days after moving here from CT. I work out 5-6 days a week and consider myself in pretty good shape. However, upon taking TDM classes, I was surprised to find the classes so very challenging. It's a fantastic regime, and as a bonus, one that alleviated my chronic back pain. I highly recommend TDM as an addendum to a weight training program. I started the program with some really nice muscle definition in my arms and legs. However, because I stopped my weight training, I loss significant muscle mass in just 8 weeks fro just doing TDM. So again, a fantastic program that should be combined with a weight training program. The two muscle groups I did see great improvements in were my buttocks and abs. Thank you TDM! read more

I've been involved in one sport or another for 25 years, boxing and klckboxing, running, weight lifting and am currently a competitive powerlifter with a 600+ lbs squat. I have to say this was more challenging than I expected even with the pink 2 pound weights they handed me. The instructor, Macey, used verbal cues which made it easy to understand what I was supposed to do. All the staff was very friendly and helpful and answered all my questions ( I had a lot of them). The facility is very nice, easy to get to from highway 17 or 85 with lots of parking, except around lunch time. As a Chiropractor, I am always looking for ways to improve the health and fitness of my patients. I've seen a great number of exercise fads come and go and rarely recommend them. The Daily Method is something that I feel can help build and strenghten core muscles, improve posture and build overall strength. Although challenging, it is structured so that anyone can benefit without making you feel beaten up when your finished a class. They have on site child care which is an added bonus. read more

I'm very happy with The Dailey Method in Los Gatos. I've taken months of Bar Method classes in SF, and while this is similar, I find it to be more engaging, and a better overall workout and experience. Plus, the atmosphere is not as snooty. I take twice a week and have noticed a big difference in my body. Plus, I am sore (in a good way) everyday. It's the only workout routine I have stuck to for this long and still really enjoy. I finally made the decision to come to my first barre class after hearing many good things. While there are many studios around the Bay Area for barre workouts, I chose DM due to their flexibility in class schedules on the weekends; Pure Barre, for instance, only had classes up to 11am on the weekends, whereas DM offers a 4PM class (and let's be honest, I'm probably not waking up early on a Saturday unless there's a fire or earthquake!). Courtney was my instructor, and she was the the right mix of friendly and pushy. I explained that I was new to barre workouts in general, and she spent a few minutes before class to explain the terminology and the basic posture to me. I also felt like she kept an eye on me the whole class to make sure my form wasn't way off, and while I know I didn't have perfect form the whole time, I appreciated that nobody spent all their time correcting my form and just let me enjoy the experience. If you're somewhat in shape, you should be able to do the moves with little problems. You will definitely get the shakes until you start to look like you're imitating Elvis' dancing, but it feels oh-so-good! If you're intimidated by the whole idea, let me just say that everybody in the class is not on the same level. You are welcome to modify the moves to your comfort, and I definitely took a few quick breaks to make sure my legs didn't collapse under me. Nobody will judge you for not being able to keep up, and please feel free to stare at your neighbor as long as you need until you figure out the moves. As hard as it may get at times, the whole 60 minutes literally flew by. As far as the workout itself, I definitely felt it target my whole body. I like it especially because it's low impact, and I've always had issues with my IT band and/or knees during running or intense cardio. I do cardio and free weights 3-4x a week, and while DM will not replace cardio or free weights personally for me, I definitely plan to supplement my workouts with classes. Unlimited classes are $225/month, but if you sign up for Auto Pay, it gets dropped to $175/month. They also have a barter program where you can work 1 hour sessions in either the child care or the front desk in exchange for classes. p.s. I came fully prepared to buy a pair of socks, but they have loaner socks that you can borrow for your first lesson. They are laundered and clean (just not very pretty) but it really made a difference in the class. You won't always feel like you need them since you won't slide on carpet, but when you're working at the barre or on the mats, the grips become very useful. You don't have to buy them from DM, but they are similarly priced no matter where you buy them (Lucy's has them on sale from time to time for about $9, so take a look there first). read more

LOVE this place. Excellent workout with diverse teachers. Clean, pleasing environment. Friendly staff and owner. After needing a break from yoga, this is my new studio to workout. I'm so excited to have found it. They even offer childcare! Why the 4 stars (not 5)? -Very pricey. I'm paying quite a bit more than I did doing yoga. I very much appreciate the teacher discount, though! Without it, I may have needed to find another place which would have been a bummer! -It would be nice if they had a larger changing, shower, bathrooms. I have been going to the studio in Saratoga for about a year and I am so excited about the new Los Gatos location! I am totally hooked on the Method, there's really no other workout like it. I remember feeling a little lost when I was a new student but it doesn't take long to get in the swing of things. I find the teachers and all the staff super helpful and friendly. The Los Gatos location is a little bit bigger so has the potential to have more students in class. I think in Saratoga you might get a little more one on one attention with fewer people, but I also think the classes are a little harder since there's not too many new people there. If you haven't tried it you definitely should, you'll be sore in places you didn't know existed! read more
