Call it fate, perfect timing, pure coincidence, whatever - the Dailey Method opened this past weekend in Los Gatos. I had been looking to boost my fitness routine and get into a healthier lifestyle when my sister-in-law stumbled upon the grand opening details of the LG Dailey Method on their website. Classes would be free all weekend and it was the perfect opportunity to try a workout I'd been hearing so much about. We instantly signed up for classes on both Saturday and Sunday. Now Monday, I hurt in places I had completely forgotten existed. The reminder of my hidden abs is back, my legs are sore all over, the padding on my arms is quivering in fear... it won't be there for long! The Dailey Method literally kicked my butt! The free classes were amazing and though the room was packed, it didn't feel like it. Instructors constantly came around to help and correct you, getting you into the perfect form to feel the burn even more. With their instruction I was able to do the workout at my wimpy, out of shape state but still sweat as much as the seasoned fitness guru across the room. Even better, the routine had enough changes in it on day 2 that I didn't feel like 'oh I've done this already' or that it would be too repetitive to hold my interest. Squats at the barre, flat back, fold over, c-curve are all going to be part of my vocabulary. The class was amazing and I was instantly sold on the program. The affordable packages (especially the $100 unlimited month introductory offer) are great! I can't wait to begin my Dailey Method training and get in shape in time for swimsuit season!

I recently completed physical therapy for my neck and back and I wanted to get back into doing pilates to work on my core more + continue stretching out my neck and back. I also felt like getting a membership here was cheaper than what I was paying for PT so I feel it's so worth. They had a deal for unlimited classes (31 classes) for $149 I believe, and it's such an amazing offer, especially if you're going to be consistent with going and making use of your credits. The instructors are so lovely and I haven't encountered any issues with anyone there. Stacey and Annie are my favorite instructors. They care so much about your form and your comfort, which I appreciate so so much. I haven't been there long enough yet to experience the other instructors more than once yet, but the experiences I've had have all been wonderful and positive! I I used to go to Club Pilates and nothing can beat the quality of classes that I've gotten at Pilates V!

Some poses were challenging, but she does a great job coaching and keeping the energy up. Then I tried the V2 Reformer + TRX class with Michele--the equipment and Michele really worked us out. We focused a lot on arms, legs, and core, and I definitely felt like I got a solid workout. Both instructors were super nice, and I like the open, airy space in the studio. Everything is super clean and well-organized. Each station is fully stocked. The instructor lets you know what items you'll need for class but they also have a wall chart that shows what equipment will be used for the class. They have cubbies for your stuff, and don't forget to bring grip socks! Also, I found parking right in front of the studio--super convenient. Looking forward to my next class!

Her therapeutic yoga really changes your body and can fix health problems (you can see case studies as fellow students in your classes). Her yoga is so therapeutic that she has also been teaching at Kaiser Santa Teresa. In comparison, other instructors I've tried seem to have just learned yoga a couple of years ago, and they teach it like it's an aerobics class. Sherry takes her time with each yoga pose, giving personalized individual help so you can get the most out of it. I'm a ballet dancer, and I thought I knew my body alignment before, but Sherry takes your awareness to a whole other level. Don't worry, you'll still get a challenging workout and find yourself sore the next day. She just moved to this larger studio (July 2006)...thank goodness, because her classes always fill up the room! If it's your first time, she has mats you can borrow. She sounds a little kooky, but just one class with her will convince you that this is the yoga your body has been aching for.

It's conveniently located on the second floor, on top of Luna Mexican restaurant and a few steps away from Kyoto Palace Japanese Steakhouse restaurant. As soon as you walk in, you see a wall of honor on which students's milestone accomplishment are posted and celebrated with. Friendly staff at the front desk greet you and promptly check you in. If you're a new student, you are offered free towel and mat for your first class. From the entrance, if you turn left, you can see men and women locker rooms, water stations and studio 1. If you turn right and go along the wall, it will take you to studio 2, the smaller studio but offering nice view of Mt. Umuhum and the plaza underneath you. I always feel a sense of belonging and community every time I come to this studio to practice. The instructors make me feel welcomed and they are dedicated to their teachings. The instructors offer hands-on adjustments and ask for permission first, which I appreciate. I often feel refreshed after every single class, whether it's C1 (vinyasa flow level 1), C2 (level 2), Yoga Sculpt (with weights), Hot Power Fusion (Bikram style yoga), or CoreRestore (yin style yoga) class. Some of my favorite instructors are Tori, Kayleigh, Lynn, Allie, Andrea, Tracy, Leah, just to name a few. I didn't take any pictures due to privacy but their locker rooms are clean and spacious. They have shower rooms with all the shampoos, soaps and conditioners you may need to take a shower after a sweaty class. Please come and give this relatively newest CorePower Yoga studio a try, whether you're a brand new students looking for a nice workout and a community or you might have had somewhat unpleasant experience in the past. Give it another try and you may change your mind. The studio has improved a lot ever since their first days of opening and it deserves another chance :) Tips: do not try to find parkings near Trader Joe's though it's closer to the studio. You'll end up competing with others for those popular parking spots and spent unnecessary 15-20 minutes circling around, unless you're very lucky. I usually park at the parking garage on the other end of the plaza and it's only 5 minutes walk to the studio. Namaste !

I found Almaden Yoga through the Mind Body app - it's within 5 miles of the house - so decided to give it a try. The class that worked with my schedule was Wall Yoga, which was described as a class where you'd use the wall to help work on alignment in your poses. I worried that it would be a pretty mellow class but signed up anyway. My concern was completely unwarranted, at least based upon the way Anuja taught it. Using the wall meant not having to worry about balance - an issue for me given an arthritic left big toe and a chronically sprained right ankle - meaning that we could focus upon fuller expression of the poses thereby requiring greater strength. I was literally dripping sweat by halfway through the class. It's a beautiful studio, conveniently located near my childhood home. I'll be sure to come back the next time I am out for a visit.

It's too bad this seems to be the only yoga option in the area.
