Good first experience to this bagel spot in Ashland. Came in around 11am on a Saturday. The restaurant is decently sized and there appears to be enough seating for 20-30 people, which is more than most bagel places I've experienced. Took me a minute to figure out the ordering system (order bagels to the right, coffees to the left), but straightforward enough. The bagels were very tasty and the coffees were solid. I've been coming here for years. The bagels are fresh, delicious and they're baked the old fashioned way, in kettles. And I'm from NY. The toppings are very generous on both sides. Most bagel places in New England only give a small amount of toppings on only one side... The staff is always nice. Show up early for fresh bagels or they might run out of your favorites by the time you get there. Sure the prices have gone up over the years but IMO Bodacious is the best bagel joint in the area by far. read more

Love this place! Their prices and product is so good! I really like the fact that they make their own bagels and cream cheese. You can actually watch a video, about how they make the bagels. This operation carries on behind the scenes of the shop. The shop is large, well staffed and the menu is extensive- there's something for everyone. I like the bagels a lot - I really do. Recently I went, they have a newer system that they flip the screen at you to pay and optionally tip. This time they didn't flip the screen. I paid and left. Service was so horrible I just threw my bagel in the trash. I don't care if it even tastes good, I'd rather eat from McDonalds. This was my FIRST time at this establishment. The online menu is slightly different. I was trying to order what I saw online, and apparently the name is completely different on the inside chalkboard menu. Had a great first experience here. Sure, it's not a Manhattan eatery, but a really good bagel with lox and shmear also didn't cost over $20. Capers, shmear, a surprisingly generous helping of lox, on a delicious toasted bagle, in a lovely, small upstate town; it was excellent and well worth the cost. I must have missed the breakfast crowd as I only had one person ahead of me. While there was only one woman working behind the counter, she was pleasant and worked with skill and speed. Again, it's not some stylish joint in the city, but I personally did not find it dirty in any way. It's a little crowded, but there are decent seats around a few tables. The décor is very simple: refurbished and painted upstate farmhouse. The cappuccino was absolutely fine. Would order both bagel and espresso drink again. Horrible service. Food is ok but they are rude. They made me a coffee and it was very dark I had 2-3 sips but it was too dark and I asked for a little more cream. She gave it back white. I brought it back up and said this is too much cream and she poured out an inch and filled it back with coffee and it was still white. I said can I just have a new coffee and she was clearly mad. Gave me a new coffee in a 12 oz cup when I had a 24 oz coffee. I said I'd like the same size coffee I paid for. She refused and got yet another cup and made me another coffee that was pure white. I am not picky about the cream content. I have a pretty wide range of additive I'll tolerate but I don't know how they screw up that bad. I had also tipped them before all this for the pleasure of her attitude. I'll never go back. read more

I've been a regular at this cafe, enjoying their food and service for the last 2.5 years. I usually order a Lox bagel during my morning visits. On a recent visit, with only two other customers in line behind me, the staff refused to take my order in a rude way, telling that they could only prepare breakfast bagels due to being busy. It would have been more appropriate for the staff to offer a polite explanation or suggest an alternative solution, such as an estimated wait time for my usual order. I've been a customer of Bodacious for years. The staff is friendly and fast at putting the order together. The bagels are the best I've ever had!! The choices of cream cheese, heaven! Coffee is very good. But be aware that they open at 6a.m. ,and if you wander in on a Saturday or Sunday after 11 a.m., expecting to see every kind of bagel available, you'll be disappointed, as the place is so popular. I've moved from Ashland, but now make a 45 min drive, every couple of months or so, to shop for friends and family. I call a day or two ahead and the 3 dozen bagels are waiting at the requested time. To me this place has the best ever onion bagel. The place is well run. Service is fast and professional. There are a LOT of onion sprinkles on these bagels with great onion flavor. While the 10 of onion bagels for me will always be the ones from the long gone Eagermans in Natick, these are a solid 9.5 in my book. Brueggers rates 8.5 and Finagle gets a 3 bc of thier skimpy almost non existent amount of onion. FYI. Pastors and coffees are excellent here too! read more

Product is good not bodacious...but it has the potential to be. People are good. But whenever you get to the Asian man- things start to unravel. I come to Bodacious Bagel at least 4 times a month possibly more. The employees are always so kind and accommodating. They remember my typical bagel orders as well as my iced coffee order. Sometimes I wonder how they can take multiple peoples orders at once and remember who ordered what and what cream cheese on what bagel etc! I love boiled then baked bagels which can be hard to find. The staff always asks about my toddler son and how he is doing and are so kind to him when he comes with me, plus they always remember my order. The secrets to good bagels: a) boil and then bake b) crispy on the outside soft but not gooey on the inside - mostly a result of boiling and then baking c) ample toppings...especially on everything and onion bagels d) they come from NY. Bodacious Bagels are really good bagels - they consistently deliver a-c. I really love this place, for bagels anyway. Coffee is okay, dunkies style but better, to me. I usually only come here for bagels, and they are truly yummy. They bake them every day on premises. When I come here at 6am before work, I can see the baker doing his thing, and of course I get the delicious, warm bagel. They have a lot of options, my faves are the multi-grain and pumper-nickle. They also have a variety of cream cheeses to choose from. During lunch time they also make wraps and sandwiches. I've only had the turkey wrap before and it was pretty good. Today was my first visit to Bodacious Bagel as I live about 45 minutes away, but I have been eating their delicious bagels for many years. I had coworkers who would bring them to work on Fridays and this made them my favorite coworkers! Unfortunately, both of these lovely people left the company and now I have no one to bring me these bagels. Today, I drove to visit one of my old coworkers who lives in Ashland. We decided to try the new Bagel Table in town. I didn't realize at the time that their bagels are not made on the premises. They were disappointing. So after our breakfast, I drove a couple of miles down the road to Bodacious Bagel so I could buy a dozen to bring home and stash in my freezer. Having grown up in NJ, I am a huge bagel snob. Here's why I like Bodacious Bagels so much. They are dark and crusty on the outside. They have a VERY generous amount of seeds and toppings on BOTH sides of the bagel (the Everything are my favorite, followed by Onion, then Sesame). The inside of the bagel is dense, bready and flavorful, no hint of sweetness. And their cream cheeses are amazing, too. I mean, Miami cream cheese? It's a mix of the best kinds of cream cheeses - lox and scallion! So good! I've never tried anything else on the menu so I can't speak to anything but the bagels, but really, that's all I'm interested in, and they are some of the best I've had in Massachusetts. read more

They did say prices subject to change without notice. They did change by $.50 per sandwich. Woman working there just had a blank face / look each time I spoke about the the different problems/concerns. No manager there No tip given to them, the nerve they'd ask when paying bill. What we got was good. Unfortunately, none of us received what we ordered. When I was there, one person took one order, made one sandwich, and then went on to the next customer. They don't write down the orders. Even if there's a small number of people there, service backs up, and it seems to be more challenging to handle the orders accurately. Of the three sandwiches we ordered: - The first was missing one of the requested ingredients. - The second was on the wrong kind of bagel. - The third was the right bagel, but the wrong spread. The quality of the food is great, but if you want to get what you ordered, check what they serve you carefully.
