My Hunter Douglass Luminette Privacy Sheers were purchased at Bockman's and Angel was the person I had as a salesman and installer. He is fabulous. I loved the blinds, up until the time they broke. They were still under warranty and I called Bockman. Initially, they said they would come out and check it for $60. They said that Hunter Douglass would not cover the warranty. Later they said I would have to purchase a rail for $100 and Hunter Douglas would not cover it because they said it must be customer abuse. Really? They did not see where the wand control had broken, and there are only two adults who used the wand. Frustrated, I ordered the part from Fix My Blinds for under $10. I called Bockman to see if I could pay them to install it. They were not interested. I ended up installing it and it has worked ever since. I also learned the company that made quality Hunter Douglas was sold to another company. The customer service is not what one would expect from Hunter Douglas. This store primarily does custom work for draperies, blinds, & carpets, as well as wood and tile flooring. They also do re-upholstery. There is no lack of choices; you could easily spend hours determining what fabric or material you wanted to aesthetically improve your home. My wife and I were in the market for new shutters for our bedroom and bonus room for our yorba linda home As we do for any big purchases we get a couple quotes based on price , service and quality After John Bochman and his son Jr came over to do measurements and give us a quote we decided to go with Goldenwest shutters in lake forest in fact we not even given a choice Bochman SUCKS ! Purchased a roomful of wood horizontal blinds for our office. The initial interactions with Bockman's were great. First batch of blinds came in, were professionally installed and looked perfect. One blind was delayed because of our delay in being able to provide measurement during construction changes, but was finally measured and ordered and, after pandemic delays, was installed. This final blind does not fit nor align properly. I've left several phone and text messages but haven't had a response. I already paid in full. I'd give Bockman's five stars except for this unfortunate development. read more

They went wrong, for me, when their drapery quote (fabrication + install) was the highest, by far, of 4 drapery installation quotes I received. This review is long overdue. We purchased Hunter Douglas Silhuoette Blinds and wood blinds from Bockmans in 2004. Angel was awesome then and now. He is an asset to the company. He installed the blinds n 2004. A couple years later we had trouble with a wood blind. Bockman's repaired it for free. Last week one of the strings to the Silhuouette broke. I took it to Bockmans. Angel is still working there, they repaired it for free. In this world where customer service is usually lacking or non existent Bockmans goes above and beyond. We went here on Saturday to see about getting our 2 chairs & ottoman reupholstered. They have so many samples to pick from it looks overwhelming but the staff there is very helpful and works with you on picking color, style and tone based on your lifestyle and your likes and dislikes. We were able to bring 3 samples at home to lay in the living room so we could see if we liked it in our home, lighting, etc. Took them back today and kept 2 of them and got 4 more on loan. This company is the worst to deal with!!!! Jody, Angel and Danny were very nice, however any issues couldn't be resolved until they checked it out with John the owner. He is always gone and sometimes I would have to wait until he returned which in some cases was weeks. He never returns phone calls !! He is always right and is so disrespectful if you back him into a corner for answers. I ended up going into the showroom to get answers and got into a huge screaming match with him. I spent a ridiculous amount of money with them and his comment to me was he really didn't care how much money I spent. I have since replaced 6 of the windows because he would not stand behind his products. He has no idea about customer service. Nor does he respect anyone. He sent his son out to hang simple valances that were crooked, never came back to fix. He (John) wouldn't come out to fix my electric shades because he said he already did it once. Told me to do it. Really? I should have gone to my place I had used for years. Thought I would give Bockmans a try. NEVER AGAIN! Learned an expensive lesson. We recently worked with Charlene at Bockman's to complete 2 oversized chairs, a bench seat and 6 pillows. We received a second quote from a competitor in the area that was significantly less. Charlene agreed to match the price and went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure our job was completed on time for a party we were having. Not only was the job completed on time but they re-stuffed the chairs, that has never happened in the 20 years and 4 upholstery jobs that we have had done. If you are looking for meticulous workmanship for reupholstering your furniture then Bockman's is the place to go. We had a couch and love seat reupholstered there in July, 2018. We have not found one loose stich or short cut. Our material has a white-on-white design. Each of the couch's nine pillows has the design in exactly the same place on each pillow. That is attention to detail! Designer Charlene was incredibly helpful with assisting us with the selection of fabrics and colors and offered considerations that we might not have thought about. Our furniture was picked up about one week before the material was to arrive from the mill to minimize the time we would be without it. While the work was being done, we were invited to inspect the furniture in "mid-job" to determine if everything was satisfactory. We inspected it again before it was delivered. After being told they could make our blinds, in America, with a delivery of 3-5 weeks, I find they are being made in Mexico. I was only contacted by them after I reached out multiple times. After I called at week #8 I am told they can't make my blind after all! I feel as though they were dishonest & unreliable! John Bockman was paid $300 by the seller of our new home's real estate agent to rehang some blinds that were removed. Because escrow closed prior to the blinds being rehung, John was to complete the job once we (the new owners) had taken possession of the home. John came out the first time and said they needed a specific kind of bracket to complete the job and that they would be able to get it and reinstall the blinds before or right after the Thanksgiving holiday (this was the week before Thanksgiving). I patiently waited 2 weeks and did not hear back. I called the number on his business card and spoke with a receptionist named Jody who said that the bracket had been ordered and had not arrived yet. I waited another couple of weeks and still no response. I called again and spoke with another receptionist who reaffirmed that the part had been ordered but still hadn't arrived. I have been calling weekly since then and spoken with Kendra and Sharlene who both left messages for John and said that he would call back when he returned from his vacation. I finally received a call back from John yesterday (1/8/19). Immediately, he starts rambling off excuses as to why he hasn't completed the job claiming he wasn't paid by the seller's agent (the seller's agent said that he was already paid $300 for the job), did I (the buyer) know what the name of the seller's agent was, did I have his phone number. He also claimed that his manager at Bockman's wouldn't let him order the brackets until they had been paid. For this last month and a half, he's been lying to me that these brackets had been ordered. After listening to him ramble on for a while, I asked him why he had been lying to me this whole time about waiting on the brackets and he had no answer. I would advise to steer clear of this company. John accepted payment and didn't complete the job. How very dishonest and unprofessional. read more

After 4 new windows in 3 rooms I had to match the blinds that we had in the other rooms. I called 3 companies and all were professional, on time and detailed. After meeting the reps and discussing my needs, I was impressed with the gentleman from Bockman's - Angel. He was amazing. Not only was he able to match what I had, he also showed me the superior qualities of his product - type and style of pull cord, magnetic valance connection rather than clip etc. We also discussed the drop down shades I have - Bamboo with privacy curtain. They are heavy and old and the 10' slider shade had one side go out. These are expensive to replace by Angel came up with a huge money saving option - cut it in half and only replace one side! On top of that, the price of the original 4 blinds was over $160 less than the closest competitor!!! I definitely recommend Bockman's and speak with Angel - he's your guy! read more

My experience was very frustrating and left feeling mislead. We called Bockman's because we found them on OC best business list. The owner John came out to our house to do the sale as well as his son. They sold us plantation shutters throughout the whole house. John informed us that it was a large sale doing all the windows since the average sale was around 3-4 windows. They spent majority of their time talking about how they have been on the OC best list a few times. He explained to us how having people you know voting more than once allowed for more votes to get on the list. After my experience with them I now know they are not OC's best and definitely did not earn that title. After buying the shutters we found out that John was not giving us the best price but was actually charging us the highest price he could get. I called them the next week to cancel since I knew I was getting gouged. John didn't want to lose the sale so he brought the price down about 1500.00 to keep us. This was the last time I ever spoke to John even until today. During the waiting time of 10 weeks I never heard from the company with any updates. I always had to call to get any updates or when they were planning on installing the shutters. I called 8 times to speak to John but he never returned my calls. Even after the shutters were installed I still to this day have not heard from the owner who sold us the shutters. We had some issues with the install and quality of the work done but still no John. He talked himself up the day of the sale on how great their customer service is at his company because of being a family business. This is far from the truth! They tried to over charge and he was nowhere to be found for any customer service to this day. Bottom line is that you can find this type of company anywhere since they are a dime of dozen. Without a doubt Bockman's is far from OC's best. read more
