Need further reasons than the nonexistent customer service after their poor quality product starts breaking in less than 2 months from install? Lookup their contractor's license on the State Contractors License Board (952124) - it's suspended. The look up the BBB rating. Then read the reviews in the last couple of years in Yelp (no need to read old reviews - just go back 1-2 years). The "warranty" on their website is fake - they don't even respond. I wouldn't be surprised if the "Best of OC" award is fake too. read more

During the time of the installation, this company was very responsive and professional. After a few years, we reached out to OC Shutters for a simple repair for one blind controller. I was on the market to get some plantation shutters installed. After looking at some of the reviews for Orange County Shutters, I decided to give them a call and see what they offered. Rebecca came to the house and I could tell that what this company offered was a good, quality product. The cost of the shutters was very reasonable for custom shutters. The waiting time wasn't too bad but well worth it. Mike made an appointment to install the three shutters and that took all of 30 minutes. Rebecca and Mike were very friendly and professional. The shutters themselves are very nice. However, the sales person failed to disclose that once the shutters are installed, you CANNOT remove the window sash without removing the shutter. This information should have been disclosed, as the shutters make certain window repairs impossible. In our case, we needed to repair our windows about a year after the shutters were installed. To do so, we had to hire someone to remove multiple shutters and reinstall each of them. Needless to say, it was an inconvenient and costly process. read more

Two 5 stars and one 0 star. 0 star - louvre broke on a shutter. called Rebecca requesting a fix in November 2023, she asked for measurements which were provided at that time. Followed up in January, her reply was "let me check", then nothing. Followed up in March, she stated she was going to production and it should be there. requested updates the next two weeks before finally getting a response. They made the wrong size louver 3 1/2 vs 4 1/2, was having another one made.. end of April follow up requesting an ETA on the correct size louver, no responses and now we are a week away from July 2024. 9 months and still waiting and requesting updates... 5 star - complete process from start (quoting) to finish (install) for all downstairs windows. We had our patio blinds installed by Orange County shutters . Everything was good until the blinds broke and we called them for service . I was not looking for a freebie( it was past the warranty so I was/am ready to pay) but just wanted their help in fixing the blinds. This started in January of this year and it's June . After several attempts they somehow shipped the parts to us in April ( apparently They don't make these blinds anymore so had to get it done from an external vendor ). Now I am Behind them to get a contractor to Install the same . Rebecca said she will send someone but it's already 2 months and several texts and no response. I guess they are doing us a favor by helping us with the repairs so we should be grateful. The service is not done yet so probably they will not continue to do so after seeing my review but I am frustrated . read more

My husband and I purchased a brand new home and wanted our window treatments done quickly. Dorian the salesman had promised that the shutters would be built and installed by Thanksgiving. Here is the time line... We got the estimate from Dorian on October 9th. We reviewed the estimates and got quotes from a few different companies and decided to go with OC Shutters due to the quality and their estimated installation date. Fine. We submitted the deposit on October 14th. We had our re-measurements done on October 17th with a minor change to our existing order. Removing our french doors and adding a window. I contacted Dorian on several occasions to get an update on the shutters and he kept telling me it would be 5-6 weeks since the date of our deposit. Okay fine. That takes me to Thanksgiving week. On November 25th I asked again what the status of the shutters was and he finally responds that he is out of town and asks me to call their office number. I left a voice message regarding my inquiry on the status of my shutters and I receive a text from Rebecca (the owner of the company). She basically gave me a whole bunch of reasons why the shutters are not done and promises that they will be completed by December 12th. She says, and I quote from her text "If the estimated completion date changes we will let you know." She seemed hostile and did not take any responsibility for her employees giving FALSE information to their clients. I called to speak to an actual person (instead of having a texting war with Rebecca) on November 26th. I spoke to Rich (the son of the owner). Initially he was hostile and not helpful. He kept on giving me excuses as to why the shutters are not done and why they are backed up in orders. Honestly, I don't give a flying piece of shit why the shutters are not done. All I care about is that they are NOT done and no one has contacted me to let me know that they will not be done. At the end of the conversation he promised that the shutters would be completed by December 12th and that he would stay on top of my order. "My file would be on his desk" according to his words, not mine. LIES LIES LIES!!! (Okay. So here I am typing this out ON December 12th and NO ONE has proactively contacted me to let me know that my shutters would NOT be done by December 12th as promised by the owner. ) December 9th, I call Rich to find out the status of my shutters. SURPRISE!!!! They are NOT done and NOT even close! They have not moved in the last 2 weeks! Oh and did I mention that NO ONE contacted me to let me know about the delay? Refer to the lie from Rebecca above. So now Rich tells me that the shutters should be done December 22nd or 23rd. How likely am I to believe this? Not at all. December 10th: I call Rich again to get an update on the details of the process of making these shutters. Of the 12 step process, they had completed 4 steps and nothing has been done in the last 2 weeks. GREAT. (On this day, I came to the realization that I have to babysit this entire process myself and I decided that if I want my shutters before 2015 that I would need to call on a daily basis.) I called every single day to get an update on the shutters. Some days, I received immediate feedback in regards to the status of the shutters and some days, I received nothing. By the fourth or fifth day, I felt Rich expected my daily call and would try to get an update on my shutters before I called. That was nice. I guess. After babysitting the process, our shutters were completed and installed on December 23rd. What would have happened had I not called every day? Overall the quality is just okay. It's not all that great and honestly, I don't care anymore. I don't want to have to babysit them anymore. I already have an infant and a pup of my own. I don't need to add more unnecessary work to my life. Obviously, I would NOT recommend using OC Shutters unless you want to babysit your shutters and the people at OC Shutters. They are not proactive. They do not communicate with their clients. Expect to get hostile responses when you are babysitting your shutters and asking about the completion date. Good luck. It's funny... if you comb through any sites like yelp and talkirvine, you'll see that Rebecca and Rich are always responding to negative reviews. They really should take more time to do their actual jobs than babysitting reviews and responding to them with excuse after excuse. Take a look for yourself. I'm just sayin... read more

This company is truly remarkable. I got a voice mail today from Rebecca, the CEO of this company, threatening to sue me if I don't take down this review within 20 minutes. Geez. My review is my honest opinion of this company based on my experience so far with them and how I took precautions after reading other negative reviews on Yelp about how they dealt with late deliveries as well as this company's lack of communication. I understand production delays happen, and things might happen out of their control, but if the sales rep or this CEO explains to me how they always aim to deliver by the ETA schedule and what they can do when late deliveries happen, I would consider taking my review down. But from judging how this company treats their customers, I definitely wouldn't recommend this company to anyone I know. read more

I'm not going to break down the entire story, but the moral of the story is: false promises, excuses, TERRIBLE (zero) communication, you have to hunt them down to get updates on why things are terribly behind schedule. Even after realizing a customer is upset due to their faults, they continue to have terrible communication. I haven't received my product and if it's anything like the customer service, it's pure and simple crap. My thing is this: if there's a delay or issue to cause a hold up, communicate it in advance. IT'S THAT SIMPLE. I cannot even imagine the type of treatment customers are getting once the shutters are installed. I had a really great experience with OC shutters. Reasonable price and on time. Shutters do take time to be made (6-8 weeks) but are well worth the wait. Rebecca's recommendations for the moulding type and the way they would be built ended up looking great in the house. Each of our windows are built slightly differently but they were able to make all the windows match each other. I love that we were able to get solid wood shutters that were locally made. When the shutters arrived they fit perfectly and were installed effortlessly. I am a stickler for perfect measurements and they were up to par. I would definitely bring them back to cover more windows in my house. read more

I couldn't be more pleased with the customer service of this company. We decided to use OC Shutters because of their pricing and their reviews. They came out, measured, and gave us a date. The time came to install, and one of the window shutters didn't fit the measured window. The technician left the shutters to give us some privacy and told us that they would need to create a new shutter. The owner contacted me that day to let me know that I would not be charged for the second payment until I had the correct fitted shutter and that my order was being moved to the front of the line. I was contacted (rough when they said they would contact me ) when my order came in and asked when I was available to have the tech come out. Everything was done, and I couldn't be happier with the look. I gave OC Shutters a 5-star review because they kept to their word. I didn't spend my time having to track them down and get multiple updates/excuses. Mistakes happen, and errors occur in any job. So I ordered three shutters in the beginning of July. I sent them the contract and then waited for a call back as to when installation would be. When I called back two months later, It seems they cancelled my order because they thought I was someone else. So Rich comes out at the beginning of October and measures and gives me a discount and says they'll put a rush on the order. Well we're almost at Thanksgiving and I still don't have my shutters. I have paid for most of them through their credit financing and still no product. I talked to Richard today and was assured the installer would call me today to arrange a time for a week from now, the 25th of November. No call from the installer. The follow-through from this company is very poor. You would think that when they messed up my order and cancelled it for no reason they would have expedited my order and worked with me to rush manufacturing and installation. But that has not happened. I cannot recommend this company to anyone I know and I will definitely not use them again in the future. I can't speak to the quality of their product as they have not installed the product even though I did order it back in the beginning of July. So my advice is to choose another company. read more

I ordered shutters from this company. I paid over $10,000 the quality and service once they were installed is horrible. I have tried calling the company and emailing they are refusing to help. This company doesn't even get 1 star. Please avoid this company if you want quality shutters, they are a huge ripoff. I'm only giving a 1 star because it won't let me post without a rating. I purchased shutters from OC shutters in August of 2013. Dorian was the designer who came out and helped me place my order. He was quite knowledgeable about the shutters and helped me with my order. He knew that I was not a fan of poles on shutters, so he explained the other type I could order. Yes, they were a bit more in price but it was what I wanted. I had two windows and two sliders installed with the shutters and I can say I love them! Dorian that the orders would take between six to seven weeks before installation because they have their own manufacturing company and it takes longer. It took over the estimated time and I finally did get the shutters installed. I am not giving the company a five star rating because I was the one that had to keep contacting the company about the delivery and an issue that had to be fixed. The one panel that had to be fixed almost took eight months to solve the problem. No one else could see the problem, but I believe it needed to be changed and so did the OC Shutters. I love that my shutters are wood and are made in the USA, just like Dorian told me. If I ever need shutters again, I will purchase them from OC Shutters. read more
