After finally getting "new construction" windows installed, we decided to go with larger 4 1/2" shutters. We were so nervous because not many people get that size, but we decided to go for it and boy do we love them! Everyone that comes over says our home has a "beachy vibe" with the large shutters. They look so nice with our painless windows! We only had one issue with the 2018 shutters in the bathroom rusting. ISD said to order the waterproof replacement would run us $650 for a small window but that seems a bit too much. ISD brought a new rustless magnet and made it look a lot better. Overall we are very happy with the way the new large shutters turned out, and happy with how the older 3 1/2" held up in the bedroom.

Unacceptable service and recurring quality issues for a luxury price…read more I chose The Shade Store because of their premium reputation, but the experience has been incredibly frustrating. We paid a top-tier premium price expecting a seamless process, but instead faced significant quality and structural issues. Our custom Roman shades have repeatedly broken right where the rings attach to the shade fabric. Because the rings keep snapping off, the cords sag and droop, creating both an unsightly mess and a safety hazard. For a luxury product, this level of durability is completely unacceptable. What makes it worse is the abysmal customer service. While they repeatedly apologize, absolutely nothing is ever fully corrected. I was escalated to a Client Success Manager who informed me she only checks her emails and voicemails at the very end of the day. To make matters worse, when she is out of the office for days at a time, she doesn't bother to set up an out-of-office message, leaving you feeling completely ignored while trying to get answers. After failing to resolve the issue, we decided to go with the offer to pick out replacement blinds. The consultant passed my file onto a design consultant to pick out replacement blinds. I was told to "please allow the team a couple of days to reach out" because the manager didn't even have access to her own team's schedules. It has now been three days, and predictably, I have heard absolutely nothing from them. Additionally, we received an email from the CEO and Co-founder Zach Gibbs stating to reach out to him if I have any questions or concerns or if there is anything else he can do to make my experience with them more enjoyable. Since I have written back to him twice, I have not received any communication from him. Passing the buck and dodging emails is completely unacceptable behavior for a company that charges thousands of dollars. We are currently left living with broken, non-functional window treatments and zero communication. I expected a luxury experience but got big-box stress. Avoid this company.

First, the installation team left without addressing the cracks/damage to my windowsill. They obviously saw the damage but did not mention it or let me know that someone would be scheduled to come back and fix it. I had to call the company myself and send pictures before they sent someone out. When they came back, all they did was sand down the damaged area and fill it in. I am also very disappointed with the fit of the shutters. I was told afterward that the shutters are not custom-sized and that the gap around them is "industry standard" because of the sizing of new-build windows. The gap is large enough that you can actually see the screws, which makes the shutters look like they were not properly sized for the window. What makes this even more disappointing is that their website advertises "custom shutters" and describes their shutters as having a "perfect fit." Someone came to my home to measure my windows before I purchased them, so I was under the impression that the shutters would be custom measured and ordered specifically for my windows. I was also told that I would have to wait weeks for the shutters because they needed to be ordered in the correct size. The final result does not look or feel like a custom, perfect-fit installation. When someone finally came out to address the damaged windowsill, I was also told that if I wanted to cover the large gap, I should purchase a weather stripping product from Amazon and install it myself. I was very surprised that after spending $1,500 on two windows, I was being directed to purchase something myself to make the shutters look properly finished. Had I known beforehand that there would be a noticeable gap, visible screws, and that I would essentially need to add my own weather stripping to make the installation look finished, I would have purchased from a different company. I spent approximately $1,500 on shutters for just two windows, so I expected a much better fit and finish. I understand that some clearance may be necessary for installation, but the large gap and visible screws are not what I expected from a company advertising custom shutters and a perfect fit. Overall, while the customer service was pleasant, I am extremely disappointed with the final product and the way the installation issues were handled. I wish the expectations regarding sizing, gaps, and installation had been made clear before I made the purchase.
