The sauce seemed to have been made from a can (1 star off) as the diced tomatoes tasted different than the whole tomatoes that were added to the dish later; the whole tomatoes tasted way better. My husband got the pinsa alla diavola, which was like a spicy pepperoni pizza. It was fine, but reminded me of a pizza at a kids' birthday party (1 star off), maybe only slightly better. I made a reservation a month in advance, but did not know I had to specifically request for tables outside on the river. When we arrived, only a few outdoor tables were taken, but was told the rest were reserved, so we were seated indoors instead. When we finished our dinner, the same few outdoor tables were occupied. I don't know why the restaurant couldn't just stagger the guests for the outdoor tables according to their reservation times.

It was my second visit to Prague so I was taking my time to see more than the "must see things." As I said, I stumbled onto the restaurant because I was taking in the park where artists were painting, people were reading and I pulled out my phone to use the Merlin app to identify birds that were singing. It was totally picturesque. But I wasn't hungry. So I regretfully moved on without eating there. Imagine the elation a few days later when someone in our group booked a dinner reservation for us at the same place I was regretting having missed! With a group of a dozen of us, I think someone ordered everything on the menu. We were all thrilled. We had appetizers , cocktails and entrees -- everything we had was great! The restaurant is family-owned and we were treated to the son being a primary server for our group. Now and then dad was part of the picture too and we enjoyed the added dynamic. Pretty sure the son is on point for Americans as his English was on point. They were great hosts!

I was warmly greeted immediately upon walking in and asked if I wanted to sit in the front or back of dining areas. I chose the back away from the door and windows to avoid any possible cold drafts. The decor was nice and the place had a few patrons. Prices were reasonable and I was surprised at their large selection of items. I chose the roasted duck with red cabbage and potatoe dumplings. Honey, I enjoyed everything on my plate. That duck was nicely seasoned and one of the best I've tasted in awhile. I was full and wasn't sure if I could handle dessert but my waiter, Mirick convinced me to try. He was a sweetheart, very professional. He told me to make sure I bring cash for tips because a lot of places in Prague dont let you add the tip with the bill using a debit/ credit card which I understand. Now back to that dessert. I ordered the powdered mini pancakes, blueberries, vanilla icecream with this delicious sauce. Uhmm uhmm I had to hide this protruding stomach when I stood up. Everything was well made and hit all the right spots. I would definitely check this spot out if you're in the area.

He paid extra attention to parties with ladies. But, being a single male, I barely got attention! Then I ordered roasted duck leg and specifically stated NO red cabbage. To start I had the marinated salmon which was one of the best starters I have had. Complex flavours and textures are complimented by an appropriate chilli hit which brings the whole dish together perfectly. The coconut crumb was a touch of genius. Hubby had the fried peppers, they were 3 stuffed and fried peppers that he loved, I found the habanero too spicy for me. For mains I had the lamb, one of the best lamb dishes I have had. Perfectly cooked lamb, both sou vide and grilled. Accompaniments were delicious and the chilli hit of the perfect sauce made the dish sing. Hubby had the black pearl, love the theatre of it all...you sign a waiver and they present you with a tray of tissues, milk and vodka to ease the burn. The dish was beautifully presented. I managed 3 little tastes and my tummy burned for a long time after. Surprising, the flavors were excellent. Hubby ate most of it but he did suffer through it....definitely not for the faint hearted. I would be back often if I lived here! After dining at some of the worlds top rated restaurants...I can say that this is a true gem thay clearly has some mad genius at the helm, a person who understands delicate flavors and chilli and plates like a God. More people should know about this place!

My husband cannot handle spicy so I tried the habanero. I could only handle 2 bites before my mouth was on fire. For our entrees, my husband ate the chili con carne dish. Under the mashed potatoes there was some chocolate - interesting mix of flavors. I had the roast beef salad with papaya and honey mustard type dressing. We ended the meal with a chocolate tart. They provided pate and some bread "on the house" to start. I do not like pate so I didn't touch mine. The service was great overall. Great place if you want to try something other than goulash and the other Czech fare offered around town. Pro tip: they charge you for the bread basket if you eat a slice. It was like 10 crowns.

Super intimate and romantic, I found it to be absolutely beautiful. Especially knowing the history of those walls. Entering, you walk down a set of stairs then through a narrow corridor lined with red bricks on both sides. Once through, it opens up to the main dining room with dimly lit lights and candles. We're not experts on Czech foods but we know what good food tastes like and the Goulash was out of this world. Served in a bread bowl, the beef broth has deep flavors like it spent time stewing in herbs and vegetables. The meat was tender and flavorful. But the Roasted pork knuckle ( shoulder) Rustic style, mustard, fresh horseradish, garnish, bread, was the star of the show. A huge portion that could feed 3-4, the meat was fall of the bone tender and the crackling skin was eyes rolling back of head delicious! Excellent service. The waiters spoke English and Apple Pay was accepted. Happy Eating!!

The beef cheek and pork knuckle were so tender and delicious in the paired sauces. In addition to the foods success, the staff was beyond attentive and friendly, the atmosphere was so unique and fun, and the price was unbeatable.

Our hotel was very close to the restaurant and we literally stumbled upon it (when quite hungry after a long travel day) and it quickly became one of my top five dining experiences ever! We visited Prague during the Christmas market season so the restaurant was glowing with holiday spirit. The staff was amazing and the food impeccable. I am still dreaming about this meal. The menu changes frequently but on this cold winter evening, we enjoyed the warm mushroom bisque, a grilled seafood dish with pasta, and the duck breast with gratin potatoes. I have never ordered duck before (other than confit on a salad) and this was "off the charts" delicious! Such a wonderful experience. I highly recommend them if you ever make it to this beautiful city!

I tried the celery cream soup to start and it was phenomenal! I would go back just for the soup! I also ordered the crispy chicken thigh with salad and to be honest, I just didn't love it. It was just a "fancy" fried chicken. Nothing really special. I should've tried the pasta or one of the other dishes because I've heard the food here is good. I guess I was just confused by the menu and expected something else. I also got a couple fresh pressed juices to-go for the next morning and they were delicious! I would definitely give this place another shot next time I'm in Prague!
