I came here with a big group for a drink after a concert since they were open late. They didn't have a table for 7 but they put us at two adjacent 4-seaters on the patio. The food menu looked great (very meat-focused, but there are a few vegetarian dishes) but since I'd already eaten dinner I just got a dessert and a beer. I had the vegan chocolate cake with raspberries, which was actually a sort of mousse cake. It was very good, especially for a vegan dessert option at a place not specialized in vegan food! My Kozel Dark beer was also great as expected. This was perfect for what we were looking for. read more

The restaurant is well suited for large groups (there were 25 people at our table). The ambiance is simple but inviting. I had dark beer on tap (an easy choice), very good. Good menu with variety of options for appetizers and main dishes. I got pickled cheese to share, it was not bad. My main dish was "Moravian sparrow" which was an interesting concoction with pieces of pork, sauerkraut, and dumplings. It was not bad, but not something I would order again. And not to offend anyone, but I really don't care for these dumplings.... Good service, despite the large group size :) read more

Just an enjoyable place to get some authentic Czech food. Service was quick and friendly and portions were nice and big. Well worth heading over for a bite! FOOD: Had the goulash because I was craving something authentic and was not disappointed. My wife got the meat platter which had a combination of food. Most of it was good but the duck was way overcooked. The fried goat cheese appetizer was brilliant! SERVICE: Nice and friendly and portion sizes were very good. Place had a local feel and we were served quickly and efficiently. COST: Very reasonable especially considering how much they give you. Definitely worth a try. read more

Nice selection of Czech beers. Good food, we all ate off the classic Czech part of the menu and the food was very good, portions were very large. I will state I wasn't a huge fan of the dumplings or white bread I got with my dish, but willing to chalk that up to personal preference. Only downside is the noise level. Every surface is hard- wood, plaster, tile- the sound just reverberates. Can be hard to have a conversation in a large group. read more

They have a great indoor vibe and an outdoor patio, works for families, dates and fun with friends. The beers are impressive and the blend of both floating on top of each other (dark and gold lagers) was surprisingly great! They have an English menu and the staff is great with understanding allergies. Possibly the best goulash was had here, very unique touches that represent the region. Our waitstaff explained the purpose of the raw garlic clove that was lost at first sight on us- changed and elevated the way the dish and sides worked. The desserts were fantastic. Highly recommend for a local meal! read more

I chose 4 stars because we did not have food here. We drank beers here a few times during our stay in Prague and the service is really good and this is a terrific place for people watching. We drank the mixed light and dark beers and they were great. I noticed the food that others ordered looked very good and I would not hesitate to order a meal here one day when we return. read more

The leg of goose was excellent and served with cabbage and dumplings. The gravy was delicious. The menu was extensive and my bride had the beef goulash which she enjoyed very much. The beer was great as well as the wine. The service was quick and friendly and the dessert cream puff suggested by our server was so good we ordered a second order. The restaurant is busy and thus a little noisy but nicely decorated with large pub look. We made reservations but I think walk ins are also entertained. Great for a relaxed casual meal read more

Nice spot to eat near old town and close to the major hotels in the area. Wonderful outdoor patio and ample indoor space as well. Food was great, very local foods and flavors. Service of course was fine, allows you to enjoy meal slowly and never a rush. Recommend using a reservation especially weekend nights! read more

It was fine. This is a small chain of Prague restaurants I guess that feel a bit like some of the pseudo-pub chains from the states. But a nice feeling I guess. It's a "safe bet" There was one next to my Airbnb that I wanted to try but was put off by negative reviews. Well, I'll say there's nothing special about it. I had a fast and easy lunch. It tasted just fine, nothing mind blowing. People were friendly. Not too crowded (at lunchtime). Enough menu items to satisfy picky families. read more

This is the first time in my life that I have not tipped a server. We had a large party and do not speak much Czech and had this in mind while dining so we entered being as polite as possible and thankful that they had a reservation for our group. Our server was very inattentive the whole time but we wrote this off due to us being a large group at first. Our food came about 40 minutes after we ordered which is understandable for a larger group. My food never came so about 20 minutes after the rest of my group got there food I tried to get the attention of a staff member to make sure there wasn't a mix up in the kitchen. I tried to get our waiters attention for about 15 minutes, he passed our table at least 10 times without so much as a glance in our direction. Eventually I got him to make eye contact with me and said excuse me twice and he walked right passed us. He only asked us what we needed once we got the attention of his other coworker. There was in fact a mix up in the kitchen, which is again totally understandable for a large group but it took us two hours to get our food because our server was continually ignoring us. I ended up having to take my whole meal to go because the rest of my group had their plates cleared long before I was served. read more

My first meal in Prague! We got the sharing platter, of course, to try as many things as we could at once! It was all great and a the beginning of an obsession with that classic, hearty, meat- and dumpling-loving Czech food! My first proper lunch in Prague with colleagues. This spot was very conveniently located right in the plaza next to our office building. We opened with a pilsner urquell and had a beef consume and steak with gravy, bacon, and potatoes. The main was super tasty with the steak pretty tender, the potatoes roasted til crispy on the outside and tender within. The rich gravy and bacon brought it all together. I had to tap out 1/2 way through. Great spot. read more

Just around the corner of Marriott, asked concierge to make a reservation and we walked there. Good idea to make resi in general when in Prague. Ordered Svichova, Moravian sparrow (pork), Old Czech Kolkovna platter. The platter was the highlight, more than enough for 2, hearty variety of meats-duck, pork, sausage, smoked meat, and sides including cabbage, potatoes, bread dumplings! Good vibes inside but would have been nice to be seated outside and people watch. read more

This is by far one of my favorite places to visit when in Prague. Over the last 15yrs I've been coming to Prague this restaurant never lets me down. This is located in near the powder gate and features great Czech cuisine and great beer! I ordered the Kolkovna platter which is a large portion of meat along with three different dumplings, cabbage and sauerkraut. It is so tasty and filling along with a large pivo. Will always try to come back here for as long as it remains. The service is amazing and the environment is a like a big pub, which I love. read more

I didn't realize, from reading the reviews, that local hotels recommend this establishment. I walked past it when going to the Communist museum next door last week. the place was pretty full on a Monday afternoon but no line to get in. I asked the girl upfront if they had a place for one person and she took me to a table inside. A pretty big menu. I ordered a medium (500ml Pilsner, and a vepřový řízek ( a pork breaded schnitzel) which comes with a side of potato salad. It's one of my favorites and I've had it all over Prague in addition to other Czech staples. This one was a bit on the dry side.but good portion size. I found the service good, efficient for such a busy restaurant. The food was delivered pretty quickly. Different people took my order, cleared my table and took my payment. All very efficient. I rounded up my bill for a tip. It's a repeat visit establishment for sure. read more

We went to this restaurant twice during our 2 days stay in Czech Republic :P First day their service was excellent...our server (I think his name was Lucas) was very attentive and caring. He even brought couple of books for our little one when he noticed how restless she was while waiting for the food, even after being busy. They have so many different meat options to choose from. We have tried their leg of goose, roast duck, grilled beefsteak, roast salmon, grilled veal and svickova dishes...all were delicious! Their chocolate fondant and cream of white chocolate with rosemary were also very tasty! read more

This place was recommended by our hotel. We wanted to get authentic local food and this place seemed like a good choice. They had large selection on their menu but we settled on Czech specialty platter and roast beef entree. They both came with dumplings. The platter was very large, probably enough for two people to share. However, the duck was dry and didn't have much flavor. The pork was dry too (almost like jerky texture). The dumplings reminded me of mashed up thanksgiving stuffing. The roast beef was decent though. Overall, not very impressed with food here. The service was terribly slow also. We had to call on our waitress several times. I asked for change to leave a tip because they credit card payment didn't give me an option to add tip. After waiting 10 minutes for change, I gave up and left without leaving one. There's a first time for everything I guess. read more

We wanted a quick but delicious dinner on our last night in Prague because we were so exhausted. The hotel recommended this place because it was very close. To start, there was a long line waiting outside, so we figured it was popular. Turns out there is only a long line because they don't take names like they do in every other restaurant. You just stand in the line and wait for someone to leave and then they seat the next group. Once we were finally seated, we were ignored for a very long time. We had to wave people down each time we wanted to order food or more drinks. This is another reason there was a long time. Because they aren't paying attention to who needs what. After awhile we noticed most of the waiters were at the bar drinking. No one was even working! The food was just ok. Not the best schnitzel, not the best steak tartare, and not the best sausages. The meat in the goulash was more fat than actual meat. Finally, when the bill came, (we paid with credit card) we asked where we leave a tip and the waiter told us that his manager only wants cash tips. So guess what! No tip then. We would've at least left a small tip for the horrible service, but then they requested cash. No, bye. read more

I dragged everyone here because I wanted an authentic Czech food experience. Because, seriously, we are in Prague - what better place to get Czech food? As expected, the items on the menu tend heavy and meaty. Potato pancakes are a staple (they have the consistency like a Chinese mantou), as are goulash, roasts and stews. We visited in the dead of summer, so yeah, maybe it wasn't the best idea. The lamb chops looked amazing, but my goulash wasn't shabby either. It was hearty, tender, with a hint of chile peppers. It worked, even though it wasn't the best goulash in the world. The sides were a bit on the bland side, but I just ate it all with the stew, which worked out well. Of course, service is slow as hell, and sometimes it's hard to get the waiters to understand non-Czech speakers. But ah well, it didn't really offend. I'm sure there are better places than some touristy chain, but this delivers and would give you a good variety of Czech food to taste. read more

They are a local Czech cuisine restaurant but it seems to be one of the only places my husband and I could find that had kozel dark on draft. FYI beer is crazy cheap and it seems to me that people here drink beer rather than water with their meal. We got the ribs (too dry) the wings (best thing with a cold glass of beer), the salmon tartar (nothing special) and the pork knuckle. The only worth mentioning in detail is the park knuckle. It's really big and fatty and it could easily feed two to three people by itself. The oily fat makes my mouth feel weird but the beer washes it down so the pair works quite well. The wings were like a traditional BBQ wings and it came with a corn and some chips as well. All this came to be less than 40 usd which is crazy amount of food and we both got 2 L of beer!! Definitely check this place out for some good Czech beer and Czech food. Also has free wifi which is good for travelers!! read more

A mix of Czech and international dishes, with very good service and nice atmosphere. This place is a bit of a rip off, or maybe it was just our waiter. He charged us for all kinds of stuff including sauces, water, lemons, etc. Then he asked for a tip. The food was good but I've learned there are many restaurants around town with the same if not better food. If you end up eating here, try the ribs, pork knuckle or schnitzel. Decided to have dinner here, which is around the corner from the Marriot Prague. We had Czech food at a few other places around the hotel, and love this cuisine. The food was good, but the outdoor setting was what sold me. They have a deck, with trees for some shade, and it overlooks a craft market. It was evening and the Indian Summer temperatures had cooled down and there was a gentle breeze. The place was crowded, and as usual service is slower than the pace of the USA.
