This was not one of my better experiences in Chattanooga dining. Located on the side of Broad Street, Boccaccia seems like a cute getaway from the typical Chattanooga restaurant scene. Instead, I was disappointed by the food, prices, and overall experience of the restaurant. First, the atmosphere was a bit uncomfortable. Not only was the restaurant not very crowded on a weekend night, the lack of music and sometimes conversation within Boccaccia left an awkward veil on what otherwise would have seemed like a nicely decorated interior. The food, ranging from cold bread, watered down sodas, and undercooked calamari left me feeling less than satisfied, especially for the high prices of the food. My friend and I split a spaghetti dish, and it was warm and the only food I enjoyed eating here, although it did come with a $4 splitting fee? I would not come back to Boccaccia, and I urge you to try other Italian restaurants in the Chattanooga area like Hummingbird and Tony's. read more

Found this little gem via Yelp and the food was soooo good! We were visiting our son at college and was looking for a dine in restaurant that was unique to the area. The food was delicious. read more

I don't know if the food is good, but the service is horrible. We made a reservation for 630. They called and asked if we could change it to 645 and we said that's OK. We were celebrating my daughter's birthday. We stood in the front for about 15 minutes past our reservation time and then decided to go over to the bar to ask Lady about our reservation. She said "there's a sign in the front that tells you to wait there". A few minutes later I came back up to her and told her that we had made a reservation because we were on a time limit. She said yes ma'am. I asked her her name and she just said yes ma'am, and walked away. Super weird. I guess we will never know how the food is. By the way, a party of 15 left right before us because they had screwed up their reservation and did not have tables for their office Christmas party. Really poor planning as far as the staff goes. read more

We have eaten here several times and the food was good. This time the food was the worst ever. The fish was not properly cooked or prepared. The pasta dishes were like frozen food items. Over $200 .00 was wasted on this poorly prepared and tasteless food. read more

Second time eating here! Once my husband and I discovered this hidden gem we had to go back! We drove 1.5 hours to go back to this place. We live in Atlanta and after eating here the first time we were both drooling to go back. It did not disappoint this time either!! Make sure you make a reservation to ensure you're able to eat here. They open at 5:30 pm and there was a line at the entrance before they open. Does that not tell you how delicious this place is?? The ambiance at this place is very cute as well. Low lighting with an elegant vibe, old fashion vibe. read more

Delicious food. Probably the only Italian restaurant I like because it's close to authentic Italian. We go every year for my birthday and for other special occasions. We are never disappointed. Good wine too. Recommend for anyone looking for good Italian. read more

The food here is incredible. We dined in for a birthday celebration. The service was impeccable. The atmosphere is mixed between casual and special occasion. It's very quaint and unassuming but the food speaks volumes. I would put this up against my favorite spots in NYC. Love this place and can't wait to come back. read more

Very small, cute, intimate space with authentic Italian food. Very reasonably priced and great selections on menu. I thought some of the portions were small, but everything we had tasted great!! read more

Visited Boccaccia for the first time recently and absolutely loved it. I would highly suggest making a reservation if you plan on dining. I had the bruschetta for an appetizer, which had excellent flavor. Trying to make myself feel better for the amount of calories I was about to consume, I ordered a side salad. I would highly suggest trying the Insalate de Spinaci e Arugula. I wish I could get my hands on the salad dressing recipe; it was phenomenal. I could have stopped with the salad and been just as satisfied, but the cherry on top was the main dish: Cappellini del Sud. This dish was the perfect blend of flavor. If you like artichokes like me, you will enjoy this dish. Overall, I think this place houses the best Italian food in the area. The restaurant itself is quaint and has a romantic feel to it. If you find yourself there on a Saturday night- ask for Chris to be your waiter! He's awesome! read more

Also good and consistent. Authentic Italian, as close to Italy you'll find in Chattanooga. Staff also pleasant. Pricing fair for the portion size. A nice evening out. read more

My favorite Italian restaurant in the city. Great ambiance, intimate environment and high quality meals makes this the ideal spot to satisfy the Italian food crave. read more

We returned for my daughter's 18th birthday a month later after the owner assured us such service wouldn't happen again. Surprising enough we were sat in the same, rude server's section. Funny enough, he refused to serve us. The food was delicious as always and service back to what we always experienced. It's just a shame that there are people who, for whatever personal reason, tarnish the reputation of an eating establishment. Or perhaps it's the management even allowing them to stay? read more

A hidden GEM! First time visiting this past weekend. Walked in with no reservation and luckily they had a seat available for us. Spectacular dishes. Four of us went and all ordered something different. We all tasted each others dishes to compare but blown away by each. Their house made red sauce was delicious!! Will definitely go back! read more

If you feel like splurging on some homemade, flavorful pasta, Boccaccia is your place. The interior is cozy and intimate, definitely a good date night spot. We've tried a few dishes, but our favorite by far is the Rigatoni Nicotera. I was hesitant at first to try a pasta with curry in the sauce, but my fiancé ordered it and I ordered something else, and I kept asking for more bites of his! It's a unique flavor, just a hint of the curry flavor mixed into a tomato and cream sauce, and not at all spicy. I would definitely recommend! Not sure if this is still the case, but when we dined in they had signs indicating you weren't allowed to split/share dishes (a rule we clearly broke). We are big into ordering different items and trying each other's dishes so this was quite an odd restriction. read more

This is a lovely restaurant. Great for a romantic meal. Great service. The food was delicious. Our server, Chris, was incredibly nice. I definitely recommend. read more

I haven't had such great service since I move from New York. The food was great and the service was too. I can't imagine what problems that the people with negative posts had but this is by far the best Italian in Chattanooga. The only place to compare it to was in Rome Italy. Your not supposed to get "speedy service" in a fine restaurant its supposed to be relaxing, as it was. The food was all wonderful. This and will remain our special occasion restaurant. read more

Beautiful place with fabulous food! We ordered calamari, cesare salad, spinach ravioli, tagliolini and the stuffed chicken breast. Everything was delicious and we loved the ambiance of the place. Wait staff was professional and attentive. Would definitely recommend this restaurant. read more

What a wonderful place to celebrate a birthday! Our appetizer (the calamari) was perfectly fried. The wine was wonderful! Both entrees we ordered were served piping hot and fresh- I had a little bit of entree envy when my husband had the chicken stuffed with prosciutto and balsamic glaze. It was heavenly. The pasta option with sausage and goat cheese was such a big portion! It was raining when we visited, and we didn't want to leave the warm and welcoming vibes we felt while here. read more

I thought it was a question I could never answer because of my lack of decisiveness but now I know I can. What would your last meal be? Well, I found it. Don't want it to have my last meal yet but if the time comes where I can choose...I choose the following. Involitini Val D'Aosta: chicken breast wrapped with prosciutto ham and fontina cheese with a reduction of balsamic vinegar; served with fettuccini alfredo.............. I dream of this usually for the next six days after I eat it. One time when my wife asked me to get two of them for pick up I actually ordered four of them and suggested, "wow I think they made a mistake in our favor babe"...................................We ate all four portions in our next two meals and spoon fought over the last of the balsamic. Truly hands down the best dish in Chattanooga, and quite possibly Tennessee. It is absolutely the most consistent dish I have ever had over such a long time period. I have had this dish more than two dozen times and it is the exact same perfection every single time. If they jacked the price up another $10.00 it would still be a deal. Hands down best meal ever, over and over! A+++++++++++++ read more

We went here for my birthday, after getting many recommendations to do so. SO glad that we did. The atmosphere is super cozy and romantic. I got the ravioli, which was delicious. I really don't understand how this place is not rated higher. This is much better than most of the other Italian offerings in the Chattanooga area and is definitely a favorite of mine! I made reservations to come here with my family for my birthday. I will admit this isn't the easiest place to find, in fact, we passed it twice looking for it. That was a little frustrating, but once we headed inside the experience just got better and better. Inside, the building is very nicely decorated and the atmosphere was very vibrant. The dining room is one big open room, so once the place filled up it got very loud. For an appetizer, we ordered the Antipasto Misto, an assortment of Italian meats and cheeses. It came quickly and we enjoyed sampling the variety on the plate. Watch out, this is a big appetizer and might fill you up! I had also ordered the "Cesare" salad, which was a pretty standard Caesar salad. As for dinner, I really couldn't decide what I wanted. There were so many choices that sounded so good. I wound up with the Penne Arrabiatta, which is penne pasta with pancetta in a spicy tomato sauce... all I can say about this dish is "WOW"... so very good! I couldn't get enough of it... despite being full from the appetizer and salad, I was scraping every last bite out of the bowl! Portion sizes, as I previously mentioned, are huge. Since it was my birthday, I wound up getting my entree for free, but prices were pretty reasonable for what you got here.... a lot of really good food! They still brought me a dessert, which I could barely eat more than one or two bites. Service was great. Our server stayed on top of the drinks, which were poured with a heavy hand by the bartender. Our server paced the meal just right... we never sat around wondering where she (or the next course) was. There are a couple of great options for Italian food in Chattanooga (check my other reviews for them), but this is one of the best! You will not be disappointed here. read more

Finally got to visit Boccaccia. It's been on my list forever. Kind of too romantic like to just go with a friend and the BF is not so much into "fancy" dining, but it was my Bday dinner so I got to cash in on the birthday "wherever you want to go" card. Love the old building that it's house in and they've done a fine job of making the interior match and look rustic yet romantic. Almost makes you feel whisked away to a little cafe in Italy. We arrived and the host asked if we had a reservation, which we did not, being that it was a Tuesday evening I didn't think it would be busy. It in fact was not busy, many empty tables which made me kind of chuckle that he would ask if we had a reservation. He kept looking at the seating chart trying to figure where to squeeze us in. LOL. The table is beautifully decorated and we were greeted by a lovely foreign man, Spanish perhaps? Made it all more fitting of the scene and romantic. The bread basket and olive dip is really yum. Would have been even better if the bread had been warmed up. We started off with the antipasti meat platter. Finely shaved cuts of salami, prosciutto and another type of cured ham along with some fresh mozzarella, parmigiano-reggiano and fontina with a couple of marinated peppers. I'm usually not a big salami fan but this was really good. Nicely seasoned and cured, not too strong. My BF tried everything and that's saying a lot for him. We both ordered the lasagna entree. Oh man. A really nice size serving with crispy edges and a lot of meat. Seasoned beautifully. I could only eat half of it. It really was very delicious though I would have liked it to be more cheesy too. There wasn't much cheese at all or even ricotta cheese. Maybe that's the style of this. It was still fabulous and well worth it. Our server was very friendly and made it a very pleasant experience. I would most certainly go again, just got to save up my "wherever you want to go" cards. read more

Home made pasta, great flavors and sauces, and excelent desserts! What a great Italian spot.... and in Chattanooga! This place is a little hard to find - have to take a few back roads off of Broad St to find it, and once you do find it - you'll likely have to wait for a table in this small homey restaurant. Reservations are pretty much a must - and you'll still be waiting even with your reservation. The atmosphere's nice and cozy, with maybe 15-20 tables inside. Brick walls, low lighting, pretty romantic for your dates w/ vampires (Yes, i'll get to that later). The food is pretty awesome. Carpaccio (raw filet served with bruschetta, parmesan, and greens) was just amazing. Tender thin slices of meet, slightly buttered bread, whew! Calamari is excellent, served with a white sauce that goes so well (i usually prefer marinara w/ my calamari - but this... goes well). For main course - I highly recommend the bolognese dish - comes with freshly made pasta, which is nice - but for me - the bolognese itself is what's awesome. As the portion is so huge, I want to request this dish w/ half the pasta, all the bolognese next time. =) Dessert - finishing on a good note - is always a great way to go. Lately, (and I don't think it's related to just coming back from Rome) I have been disappointed in my Italian desserts, but Boccaccia did well. Excellent flavorful tiramisu. They sold out on our 2nd visit. =( And... a nice creme brulee (Where I found out my date was a creme brulee vampire - that cracks the crust, and then eats out most of the inside when you're not looking! Overall, the food experience was just awesome, but the waits here are long, and not cheap (tho not overly priced - and excellent birthday deals). I'll be back! =D read more

Stopped here for dinner when we came to Chattanooga for the night, on a road trip. Even though we are out of towners, and it was after dark, we found the place with a little help from the gps in the smartfone. It would be better if the sign was facing the street, instead of being on the wall around the corner from the street. I'm a former chef and current cooking enthusiast, always looking for an interesting place to eat when out of town. This place definitely deserves a look. Its in an old brick industrial building, with rustic wood tables. A relatively small place, but we enjoyed our meals. Wife had the Spiedini di Mare: skewer of grilled scallops and shrimp wrapped with prosciutto; served on a spinach & arugula salad with shaved parmesan. She substituted fettucine alfredo for the salad, no problem. The dish was cooked perfectly and tasted / smelled like it had been grilled over wood fire. I had the Involitini Val D'Aosta: chicken breast wrapped with prosciutto ham and fontina cheese with a reduction of balsamic vinegar; served with fettuccini alfredo. I enjoyed this as well, but you have to be in the mood for balsamic. They give you plenty of the reduction on the plate, which I found delicious. For dessert - the tiramisu was outstanding and very authentic. We had one little quibble while waiting for dinner - they brought out some nice bread and seasoned olive oil for dipping, but the bread is presented cold. We think they should serve it warm. Even better, make small loaves of rosemary flavored bread for dipping when the diners arrive, and serve it warm out of the oven. We have eaten in some unbelievably great italian restaurants, and have a lot of experience cooking fine italian cuisine (and making our own bread and pasta by hand) as well. To be consistently realistic, our experience warrants 4 stars. Bocaccia certainly was a pleasant experience for us but it isn't a 5 star restaurant. Then again, I don't think they are trying to be a 5 star place - its meant to be closer to Italian home cooking rather than fine dining.......... read more

NOT GOOD FOR KIDS. Like- they don't even have highchairs, not good. I understand being a swanky restaurant (they aren't) on a Friday or Saturday night but we came on a Wednesday at 5:30. Very unwelcoming. In my opinion... if you offer BOGO entrees on birthdays, you should stock a highchair or two. Also the place is hidden so they shouldn't be unfriendly to customers. Food was good, but very turned off by the inhospitable nature. This is Chattanooga, not Manhattan. read more

A solid italian experience at reasonable prices. A group of 7 enjoyed our meal here. Main entrees/specials averaged $26. Bowls of pasta @ $15-19 were delicious. Assorted appetizers, calamari, etc. were $9, and spinach salads were $8. Bottles of wine were well priced at $40, while glasses were $7. Tiramisu and creme brulee were $7-7.50, and very good. Bottom line: I'd return. read more

Horrible service...the first time I went here on the night I got engaged it was amazing- no complaints. This last time we made a reservation for 4 plus a baby and waited 10 min to be seated and once seated, we waited 30 minutes and not one person came to our table. No water, bread, anything. No one even acknowledged we were there and we were taking up a good bit of room in the restaurant with 5 people. And we made reservations!!! We had family in town from NYC and they were not happy. Don't go here....go to Tony's Pasta in the art district for a much better experience. We ended up leaving and going there. read more

The hospitality here is unparalleled! My boyfriend and I went here for a just the two of us date night for his birthday, and were met with a warm welcome, cozy atmosphere, and a bellowing Italian voice greeting us from the owner. The service was wonderful and the food was even better. Everything was so fresh and delicious, the owner came over to check on us and insisted that we had ordered "wrong" so he sent over a rack of lamb that was AHmazing and comp'd an incredible Pinot noir. I'd been wanting to try this restaurant for awhile and now I can't believe I waited so long. Boccaccia - Italian Near Me - Chattanooga, Tennessee

A cozy place, tucked away across from the river, right outside downtown... Chattanooga has a lot of great restaurants to choose from, and a handful of really good Italian restaurants, so I get why if you're visiting, this might not make your shortlist. But, here are three reasons why it should: 1) The ambience is cute and cozy -- brick walls, white tablecloth -- they strike exactly the right balance of rustic charm in a location that's far from the main tourist drag. (Reservations are recommended, but you still might be able to snag a table even if you don't book in advance) 2) Good wine selection (and they pour generously). And even if wine's not your beverage of choice, they also have beer and cocktails on the menu. 2) The food. That's the real reason you're checking Yelp, and they definitely don't disappoint in that department. Handmade pasta. There are so many delicious pasta dishes to choose from, you can't really go wrong. Their non-pasta dishes -- fish and meat entrees are amazing too. They just make quality food. Period. read more

This place had good reviews so we were excited. It was really bad. The bread was dry and tasteless. We ordered calamari which came cold. Once they brought it back hot, it was way too spicy. My daughter and her wife ordered pasta. Both said it was nothing more than edible. I ordered a veal dish with Marsala. I didn't see or taste any Marsala. The fettuccine Alfredo was great. That was it. I can't imagine why people like this place. read more

Since this establishment opened I have enjoyed the impeccable service and food. I can't express how disappointed I was on my visit last Saturday night. While the service seemed to be uninterested I was willing to forgive due to the holiday season and larger tables that were dining. I am not however, able to do the same with the quality and quantity of the food. The size of the appetizer was a third of what had been served in previous visits. The homemade linguine was gummy with the scallops and shrimp appearing to be frozen. Fortunately, we ordered the salmon special that night and it was a nice surprise. Very good. I hope to visit again and leave with a 5 star rating but at the time of this review I can not. read more

I went there last night. Place was little hard to find as the sign hard to see if approaching the building on your right. The setting is relaxing and cozy. Our waiter was nice and very informative. Rigatoni nicotira is pasta with chicken a creamy sauce with h hint if curt. Great dish. The special of the night is as crab filled ravioli with shrimp sauce which was amazing as was full of crab meat and the sauce was tasty. My friend had the chicken Parmesan and he liked it. My wife got the veal scalopini. It was light and not heavy. She liked it. Overall a great experience. If you are looking for authentic Italian in town. This place a must visit. Try to call in advance. We left voicemail and the cold is at 4pm confirming our request and they open at 530pm. read more

My husband decided to take advantage of the birthday deal which is one pasta entree and dessert for free. Luckily we made a reservation because it seemed like everyone else in town was there cashing in on a birthday deal as well! It is a pretty small place, making it intimate but not too stuffy. Although it was busy, the service was good and the food was very hot and fresh. You can definitely tell the pasta is fresh. We enjoyed our food but personally it isn't anything special. We may go back and try some different choices next time. Probably one of the best places in town to feed a pasta craving. read more
