I have been looking for a good place to eat in the New Bedford area and a young man at GNC, Dartmouth Mall, told me about The Pasta House. I went on a Friday night and it was a 30-40 minute wait. I had a cocktail, which was Great, and the the service was excellent. I left, because it was so busy. I returned on a Monday night and had the Linguine Alla Vongole. It was good to the last bite. I honestly don't see the allure of this place. I've been there like 3x never by choice but usually a friend wanted to go and I'm accommodating. I've had a slow and rude waitress 2 of the 3 times and the food takes long which is funny since it's pasta which is fast to cook. I used to frequently meet my son at The Pasta House for lunch as we both worked nearby. The food was good as was the service. However, during one visit my son found a piece of plastic the size of a dime in his pasta. After notifying the waitress, no offer was made to remake the meal, and we were charged the full menu price for the meal. - which he left after biting into the plastic. Having been going to the Pasta House for years and always been satisfied my wife and I went las Saturday for the first time since Covid. The place was packed as usual after a 55 min wait we were seated in a cramped corner. Our waitress was very nice but the service had changed we selected our choices Janet ordered baked cod and I had fillet mignon. We were limited to choice of salad or soup your only offered salad ok now as far as the salad dressing only house dressing is offered not what we were use to.Also our choice of type of potato was gone. We received our meals the cod fish was good rather Luke warm and mashed potato was cold. The filet mignon was room temperature and mashed potato was cold. I was skeptical of this place, as it is one of those very large dining room chain type places, but ended up being very impressed with the meal that I had! Our server, Lisa, (Linda? One of those L names...) was very generous and answering all of our families many questions, and she steered us in the right direction all the way. My dad said the Rizzuto that came with the sweet chili scallop dish was some of the best he's ever had. I had the seafood stew-the thing with all the different seafood, fish, lobster, the whole shebang-and my dad had the Spanish mussels and we were all very happy. The wine list is minimal, as is the cocktail selection, and our servers were not particularly knowledgeable about that part of the menu, but all things considered it was a great meal. So I had seen this restaurant in phantom gourmet and noticed it isnt too far from my house so i gave it a shot even though i was sure it's not quite like authentic italian. When arriving, i felt like i did arrive at a quite nice restaurant, somewhere you certainly like to take someone out on a date or somewhere laid back for a family restaurant. I went strait to the bar with my friends and sat right next to the pizza maker. (I believe the only pizza oven they have is right at the bar with the maker and everything with the bar tenders). Service: As it should fit to its standards, nice people, nice little chat having with the bar tender and even the pizza maker (quite funny guy) who was recommending the entrees and pizza we planned to order. Gotten my drinks and food the necessary time. Food: Pizza was excellent, nice crispy crust with their sauce that had actually gotten me addicted to have more slices even though i was too full. The pizza maker recommended pesto sauce with tomato plums and eggplant (thought i rather have meat on my pizza). Certainly everyone should try first coming to this restaurant. Pasta was a little disappointment. I asked the pizza maker if their noodles were house made and he said no, store bought kinds that come from a box. I wish i had asked before ordering because it really wouldnt be as authentic if they didnt make their noodles. So nothing so special for noodles so I do not recommend it. Though the sauce and kobe meatballs were quite good. The sauce tasted great though it kind of tasted like store bought marinara sauce that was added with their own twist. but the meatballs were incredibly good because as soon as you bite, it melts in your mouth. Drinks: I see the bartenders sample each of their special drinks with a tip of the straw. Definitely something that everyone should do before serving their creation. and it was quite good. My friend had a chocolate martini (i dont know the exact name) and she said it was very good. Price: Could be better... if they were to have the name "Pasta house" my personal opinion would be home made pasta thats made to order then I wouldnt of mind paying the price of my meal. It takes a lot for me to give a restaurant a 5 star rating. I mean, everything has to be spot on and there was one thing that almost had me going to a four star, but after thinking it through, the good far outweighed the "bad" at this restaurant. Lets start with the pleasant waitstaff, engaging and informative. Even the staff cleaning tables and serving water were pleasant and kept my water glass full, start to finish. So we know service is part one of a machine that must be well oiled to work. I order the special pizza of the day which featured prime rib, bleu cheese, caramelized onions and a balsamic vinnegret sauce. I was worried how all the tastes would fuse together but it was amazing. Probably one of the best pizzas I've ever had. The right amount of every ingredient and a carefulness to get it right was very evident. My family order a lobster roll (cooked perfect, not overwhelmed with mayo), chicken parmesan (tasty marinara with a nice crunchy piece of chicken cooked well) and a salmon plate (not too much butter and melted in your mouth). It was the dessert that made me think about the four to five star mark. I ordered fried ice cream and was disappointed to find my ice cream melted inside. That being said, everyone else enjoyed their dessert so again, it's well worth the five stars. This is an excellent restaurant that has a friendly staff serving exceptional food. My husband and I and another couple went to the Pasta House for dinner this past weekend. The wait was a little long but that just means the food is good. We were able to sit and enjoy some drinks at the bar. The girls were very attentive at the bar!! We didn't get the best seat in the house (the water table was behind us and got a little loud). Our waiter, Ryan, was absolutely awesome!!! He was very attentive and had a great personality!! Desserts were slow to come out but expected the place was packed!! I was one who was not happy. I got a pizza, and besides being small, it was so whimpy on toppings... plain at best. We sat at the bar because we were in clean work jeans and a company T and felt a little out of place. My wife's peanutbutter martini was good. She loved her chicken parm. Now for me. I ordered the fruitti di mare. I get this often when I'm out. $26 and it was 4 littlenecks 2 yummy properly cooked scallops and 2 over cooked chewy shrimp. Maybe 3 ozs of seafood if that. Topped with an enormous amount of sauté onions. I mean a real lot. The white wine sauce was nothing to write home about. It actually wasn't good. It's served on linguine. When I order this at other places it's heaping with seafood. Big disappointment on that and not impressed with the sauce and what the hell is up with all those onions. I'm sorry pasta house. A good solid 4 stars, could be a 5 also. Went here the night before the Superbowl. It was very crowded and almost thought of going someplace else but stayed and glad we did. We started with an Antipasto which was very fresh and had much better meat and cheese choices in it than other local places. Great fresh homemade seeming dressing also. I then had the Chicken Picata while my friend had the Eggplant Parm. We tasted each others meals and we were very impressed! very fresh and seemingly made from scratch. The bar was full so we did wait for a table, the dining area was crowded and noisy but our server (Missy) was FANTASTIC! We split a Crème Brule that was about average. This restaurant is okay. It is not the best for a couple of reasons... The food comes out cold some times. I was with a couple other people and their food came out cold as well... I ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo and half it was cold. The rest was just warm not hot. The whole restaurant is ice cold. I am not sure if their A.C. Is broken or what. I have been there about 5 times and it has always been cold. Overall, I give this a 2 star because the food is cold and the whole restaurant is cold too!
