The ambitious was a regular Italian restaurant, the server was great Jillian, totally professional and personal. My wife's dinner was outstanding. I had the spaghetti and meatballs. The meatballs were good but the spaghetti tasted like they just came out of a box from Stop & Shop. I think Bocca sets the standard for service for in the area. Their staff right from the hostess to the waitress to the food runner was kind and friendly. Offered suggestions and a customization for one in our party who can't have alcohol was able to make adjustments to accommodate. I have been trying to give them chances. More than I should. The food quality seems inconsistent at best. Service is bad to fair. Specifically, I have been trying to get a good chicken parm here, but they just can't make it. If you like chicken jerky, then this place is for you. They pound the chicken until it is crazy thin. I mean the breading is as thick as the chicken! Then it is cooked and is way over done. Hence breaded chicken jerky. The pasta is ok, but they give you no sauce. The pasta has the lightest coating of sauce, it gets absorbed into the pasta, so it is like a tomato glaze by the time you get it. Little to no sauce on the chicken as well. Seriously this is the most basic, and popular, dish in the world! It should not be hard to make it properly! Also on this visit, waited forever to get the waitress' attention. Once the food was dropped off, she was a ghost. My party was almost done, so I had to go to the hostess station to get someone's attention. Ok..you say that's an isolated incident. No. This same thing happened on the last 3 visits. Really 4, but was with company and didn't want to make a scene. On the service, the food came out FAST! Unfortunately, this is the second major issue we've had with Bocca Restaurant since November, and it will be our last. We placed an order through Bocca's website, which does not clearly disclose that orders are handled by a third-party delivery service. Our order was later cancelled. When we called the restaurant, the person who answered was dismissive and immediately told us to contact DoorDash, saying the restaurant had nothing to do with it. After explaining that we ordered directly through Bocca's website, we were transferred to the manager, Owen. He said he could issue a refund, but that if we wanted our food, we would need to repurchase the entire order (about $85) and wait 5-7 business days for the refund to process. We explained that this wasn't reasonable, that we were hungry, and that this was not our first issue with Bocca--we've had previous problems and have spoken with management before. Unfortunately, there was no effort to help us find a solution. Because it was close to closing time, we were essentially dismissed. No alternative was offered--no remake, no pickup option, nothing. We were told there was nothing they were willing to do and that the issue was due to a DoorDash driver problem, which we were told was "not their fault." The lack of accountability and basic customer service was extremely disappointing. Mistakes happen, but how they're handled matters. We won't be returning. read more

We had a great, cozy dinner tonight at Bocca. I enjoyed the blood orange cosmo that was just what I was looking for. The waiter was attentive, and after my husband mentioned his gluten allergy he brought over so gluten free rolls. They were still cold in the middle, so we asked if they could get them warmed up, and our server took care of it. Their olive oil dip that comes to the table is a delight! For entrees, my husband ordered the gluten free version of the florentine pasta with grilled chicken, and I ordered from the specials the chicken tinga tacos with a side salad. Visited mid week as a party of eight. We were seated early as a foursome with others arriving within 20 minutes. Service was attentive and pleasant. Ambiance is upscale with most diners dressed business casual and up. Very nice for as we were dining with friends. Food was very good with our party having primarily pasta dishes. I had scallops with fettuccine made in a light cream sauce. Husband had shrimp scampi with linguine. Both dishes were an appropriate size portion, not small but not overwhelming with pasta. Seafood was fresh and tasty. Overall I would recommend and return myself. Only downside is the difficulty in parking which was difficult to find a spot in their small lot. read more

I go to Italian restaurants in Providence often after I am 100% Sicilian and Bocca is as good if not better that the best on Federal hill. My complaint is that a staple of a Sicilian Meal regularly is Veal Parm with pasta on the side at every restaurant I go to. I was very disappointed to find that Veal Parm was no longer on the menu and had been replaced with veal chop instead. That is the sole reason for my 2 stars. I had Veal Marsala which was exceptional but I wanted to have my VEAL PARM. read more

Meals were very good and large portions, plenty to take home for next days lunch. My only disappointment was the cannoli I ordered to take home. I am sorry to say it was the worst cannoli I have ever had. It was filled with straight whipped cream, no ricotta cheese what so ever, I've never had a cannoli made that way! We didn't get a pizza from the wood-fired oven, but the table next to us did and they looked great. A large bar area on one side of the restaurant was pretty full and looked like it was a great place to hang out. Plenty of seating in the dining room area. Nice ambience, comfortable seating, and the tables were spaced nicely. Service was very good. We had a couple of dirty water glasses at the table and before we could ask for them to be replaced, the server whisked over and grabbed them, saying "I could see them from over there"! read more

We go here a LOT. Service was excellent as always on my recent trip. Tried clams casino for something different and possibly worst I've ever had. Just tasted like butter and breadcrumbs. I tried the tenderloin tips and they were just okay. Bit tough and if those are tenderloin, I've got a bridge to sell you. That was sirloin. Everything else was good except the tiramisu was the worst I've ever had. It was super dry and tasted like ladyfinger. They apparently forgot the mascarpone, espresso, etc. I've had better at a supermarket. This is usually our go to; I don't know why they changed it. I ordered a Prime NY Strip steak. It was the worst steak I've had. Their food is normally good but very inconsistent. If you're gonna sell steak at that price it should be good quality and cooked correctly. Very disappointing. Same goes for the tips Gorgonzola, chewy steak tips. Felt like some Italian and decided to go to Bocca, we were treated and given a booth in the bar area as it was still kind of early. The ambiance was great, everything was clean and we felt comfortable right off the bat, the music wasn't too loud and pleasant for dinner. Our waiter was the bar tender and he was absolutely great and attentive. I had a small salad and the Cioppino and it was really balanced and flavorful, it also had fresh hand made pasta which made for a big difference. My wife had the fillet minion and she likes it well done, the fillet minion was perfect, it was tender for well done and actually had flavor!!! My wife also ordered tiramisu and a cappuccino and she loved it. I'm glad we stopped in for dinner as it was well worth the trip! Also I can't wait to try the brunch menu. read more

My wife and I have been going to BOCCA weekly for the past couple of years and we cannot recommend it enough! First of all, the food is always great and the staff is very welcoming and friendly (Isaac is the greatest host!). But our favorite part is getting to sit in the section of our favorite waiter, Dana. He always goes above and beyond to take care of us, knows exactly what we like and don't like, always keeps the bread and water/drinks fresh, and he just makes it that much more special for us. It started out as our weekly date night but we started bringing our two sons with us and now it's a family affair that I truly look forward to every single week. My absolute favorite thing on the menu is their Zuppa Toscana soup... TO DIE FOR. Also love the pork chop! Cannot go wrong here, do youself a favor and check it out! read more
