Enough varied menu offerings to please everyone. Cheerful, helpful, efficient waitstaff. We saw a seafood platter go by, it was huge. Casual atmosphere. Homemade desserts. I got pistachio terimasu and Richard got apple crisp. Reasonable prices. Full bar. They cater, too. At first we thought we were in a converted quonset hut but we think it was a diner which was greatly expanded. I could see inside the kitchen: busy. This restaurant has pretty good food, decent portions, and reasonable prices. My fish and chips were excellent, but several of the steamed clams I also ordered were in crushed shells and I could not eat them because all the pieces were tiny. My husband got a sampler plate and chowder, chowder was very good. The chicken pieces on the plate were smothered in excess sauce. The onion rings were very well made. Service was very friendly, but slow. Our server made sure we had all condiments and sauces we wanted with our meal. Parking: only 1 handicap parking space. Parking was scarce to begin with, and my little feet were not happy. It was kind of noisy inside too. I will go back again, and hope they fix the issues I just pointed out. read more

We had a terrific dinner at Blue Point last week, but today I noticed some back-and-forth about reservations and realized that I had made BP reservations for the first time ever for that meal. When we arrived, we were waiting joined one other couple on the benches. But within five minutes, the benches were full. Nonetheless, EXACTLY at our reservation time, we were called. I wonder how that other couple felt since we arrived after them but were seated ahead of them. We usually don't bother with reservations, and we're ALWAYS happy with your food and service. Our first time to the Blue Point Restaurant and we entered the restaurant from the left side of the building which puts you in the bar side and where you can let the hostess know you are there. We were seated within minutes of arriving and were looking forward to trying out the menu. The dining area is larger than expected, charming and cozy. The staff was very friendly and helpful. No shortage of staff like other places. We started with the buffalo chicken tenders which were plentiful, fresh and delicious. I ordered the Jr Portuguese steak with rice and round fries. The steak was cooked to perfection and the gravy made it taste great. However I can always love extra gravy! Hubby chose the chicken parmigiana which we thought it would come with Alfredo sauce based on the reviews and photos we saw but was pleased it was served with the traditional red sauce. Huge variety of food. Full bar. Wednesday was all you can eat fish and chips. I had the half lobster roll, clam chowder, and quahog. The chowder was thick and creamy with just the right amount of flavor. No need to add any salt. The quahog was baked to a dark brown but I prefer a lighter bake. Not the best I have ever had but it was good. Lobster meat was shredded a little too much for me, which is fine if you eat it in a roll. I prefer larger pieces. You can get the lobster with butter or mayo. We also had the Portuguese surf and turf. It what delicious. Fried clam/scallop plate was a large serving with tasty batter. We enjoyed a seat near a window a comfortable sunny spot. I was pleasantly surprised at the variety of high end liquor that they had available. I started my lunch with a Sea Breeze made with Stolichnaya Vodka...it was PERFECT! I Couldn't resist the lobster roll, and french fries. I usually always have a great time here but unfortunately the other day the service wasn't great. I think our waitress was the only one on the floor and bartending. I don't blame her! I will come back again but my one complaint is I got the clam boil and the clams were sooo sandy. In the past I've had great experiences with food. The buffalo chicken calzone was great. The Portuguese steak eggrolls were delicious. The clam chowder is really tasty and the baked stuffed shrimp is really the star, I wish I got that instead of the clam boil. The oysters were gray and disgusting, we didn't eat more than the first one I tried and spit out. The salmon looked like it came from a banquet one dollar tv dinner. We just had a terrible experience. We waited far too long for our meals to arrive. I ordered their special of lollipop lamb chops medium rare. The first order came out and every single chop was very overcooked. They took them back to get me what I ordered and the 2nd order was just as bad. While I did try to eat these, they tasted like the meat had been boiled and has a bitter vinegar-like taste. The waitress apologized & a hostess, too. They did remove the charge for my dinner & gave me a gift card for $10 in hopes we would come back. What could I possibly get fir $10. While my husband's meal was ok, he did not get to finish it as he, too, was so upset. We paid our bill for his meal & our drinks & left the waitress a 20%+ tip. back again with an update! glad we secured a reservation because it was a busy tuesday night. we were greeted and seated quickly and our waitress was very sweet and attentive. the restaurant got even more busy after we sat down so we were thinking that the kitchen started getting jammed with orders as the food took a really really long time to come out BUT their cornbread basket is the perfect bite to have while waiting so it wasn't too bad. i am super indecisive so i ended up going with both the half lobster roll platter and the clam strips platter - the lobster roll and summer veggies were delicious, perfect with just a touch of added salt. the clam strips left just a bit to be desired but were good too, as were the french fries. overall, an absolutely delicious meal. i was a little disappointed that they were out of the s'mores cheesecake which i saved room for because it sounded absolutely divine but ended up driving all the way back to snag a pineapple upside down cake to go before they closed - worth the drive! bluepoint is a classic that we will always come back to - i love to try the different things here as there are so many good things on their menu! read more

First off the waitress seemed nice.Ordered fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. The fettuccine was very mushy too much oil and barely edible. Chicken was definitely microwaved. Got the scallops and clams. They were bland, no flavor and my fries were totally freezer burned. Got a meat pie to go that was also freezer burned. Will never go there again.
