I finally gave in and tried this place. The Dipper Café absolutely nailed it with their pizzas...I tried the Portuguese Feast and the Hawaiian because they had a sale going on in the DoorDash app for 20% off. Honestly, they're some of the best pies I've ever had. The crust had that perfect balance of charred and crispy on the outside, but still substantial enough to give the whole pizza some heft. Unlike a lot of thinner crust spots nothing here felt dry or brittle/falling apart every bite. The flavors were phenomenal. The Portuguese Feast had thick cut banana peppers, ground linguica and pieces of garlic that worked so well together. The Hawaiian was classic/what you'd expect. It hit that sweet-and-savory balance just right with cubed chunks of ham and pineapple. Both were a little on the greasy side, but it's the kind of good greasy you expect from a satisfying pizza...easily managed with a napkin lol. If you're into pizza that has character, and haven't given this place a try yet, it is worth every bite. Was even great and fresh delivered. Got takeout pizza! Came out super hot! Delicious. Crispy edges and undercarriage. No flop at all. Both were great in their own way. The Portuguese feat with a little kick with the peppers and the pepperonis small with slowly cupping. Bar service was great when she got to me and the bar was clean inside too. Definitely one of those if you know you know spots for sure. Would definitely come back and support this local spot read more

Mixed Bag Short and sweet with this review. I love the concept and love bahhh pies. The Dipper has the bones to be a winner, but falls short. Average bar pies missing flavor and crispiness. An odd vibe inside and very locals leaning place even though it hasn't bern open that long. Went in when major sports were playing and having no awareness to make this available for customers. No sound to watch a game or a jukebox being off so you have these strange silent moments. Bartenders skipping songs we tried to play to get some noise in the place. Overall just a little off. These items could easily be corrected because as I said before the bones and the concept are there. Try The Dipper and make your own assumptions. Thanks read more

Delightfully surprised, it's good bar pizza! Ordered from Grub Hub it took an hour and half, next time I will pick up., not the dipper's fault. It's good. It's not greasy, the burnt edges were delicious, the crust held up and did not fold with the toppings. Toppings were generous. This is 100% BAR pizza. One booth. My husband overheard an interview taking place and they informed the potential new hire: we are a bar that serves pizza. We have no interest in adding more booths. (Honestly this made me feel unwelcome.) The facility gives off biker vibes from the photos but was not a dive inside. Actually updated modern and clean. The clientele was very Fall Riverish (interesting) but very nice especially since we came in with 2 kids. The pizza tasted good and was done laced and crispy as we asked. But there was somehow a disconnect between the crust and the sauce/cheese. For some reason the sauce and cheese was just not interested in sticking to the pizza dough/crust. I had the good luck today to have the pizza - linguica and plain - at the Dipper. For my money it is the best in the area. The crust is perfect - crisp and perfectly caramelized. Ordered a linguica pizza thru Grub Hub. There wasn't even a pizza box -- just two paper plates that did not protect the dried out and barely warm pizza. I had to hunt for any linguica actually on the pizza. Found about two pieces here and there. Pie was burned in crust, and overall unappealing. I won't be ordering any more pizza from these guys. Ordered 3 takeout pizzas from here while coming home with my son from his baseball practice on a Friday night. Never had before, 1st timers. Having some plant-based, vegan, and vegetarian family we were also hoping to try the vegan pizzas but some ingredients were out of stock. So this review is for the regular pizzas. We had 2 veggie delights (mushroom, onion, green pepper, olive) and a plain cheese. For those who know the different styles of pizza, these are of the south shore bar pizza (SSBP) variety. Not many spots in Southcoast, greater New Bedford area are serving this style even though a few seem to be popping up lately. Well, we might not order pizza from anywhere else in the New Bedord area again lol!!!! These were AMAZING! Right ratios for sauce, cheese, & toppings. Perfectly cooked, everything fresh, crunchy flavorful crust, good sauce, and great crust "lacing" (didn't even need to order well done, just are prepared the proper way). The staff was friendly from the phone order to the pickup at the bar. Hoping the pizza at this place catches on so they have the motive to keep serving it! Five stars for their version of south shore bar pizza. It is the best! Get the veggie. You will be happy. Upwards of $20 a pizza and there can be a wait but it's a nice neighborhood bar that has made a big comeback since changing ownership during/after COVID. I have always tried to live by the thought of if you don't have something positive to say then do say anything at all. That's why it's taken me over a week to decide to leave a review. I ordered 2 pizzas on a Sunday evening as most of the pizza restaurants in the area I was staying were closed. A little disappointing but I always enjoys exploring and experiencing different restaurants. The Dipper Cafe ratings showed best opened pizza restaurant. The 2 pizzas I ordered over Yelp were pepperoni and Hawaiian with added sausage and extra cheese. When I got to the bar it seemed like a really nice space to hang out and enjoy drinks and pizza but my order was to go. Anyways, my pizzas was given to me in what seemed like 2 paper bags with writing on top. Um...where are the pizza boxes guys? The second thing I noticed was how light the 2 pizzas were and that both were on flimsy paper plates and the pizza was covered by another paper plate. So, get this! Paper plate, 8 ounce greasy pizza, paper plate and paper bag times 2 because I bought 2 pizzas. Did you catch that I said I received (2) 8 ounce small greasy paper thin pizzas? I paid over $35 for 2 small greasy pizzas that tasted ordinarily plan and flavorless. Obviously, my order was wrong! They put pepperoni on my Hawaiian and I didn't get the extra cheese nor sausage on anything! My time and money would have been better spent on DiGiorno's from Market Basket. Not sure how they received the prior good ratings. I honestly wish you the best. Good luck! read more

Bar tenders are cool. The bar is completely revamped from the Dipper I remember. Looks great. Good prices on beers and mixed drinks. No food, but that's not a big deal. All in all, I can't say much bad about it. read more
