Gross and cold food.seating was terrible and just too small. There needs to be just a total redo for the place . The pork chop has zero seasoning and was mostly gristle. Eggs are not good and cold to the point of just like eating salty ice cubes. Overall wont be back I could have saved my money and went elsewhere. read more

Three us us ordered breakfast there around 9 am on a Sunday morning. Only one of us enjoyed their food. The person who ordered a breakfast sandwich said it was good. Another of us ordered the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were hard and packy. The gravy was bland and both were cold. I had scrambled eggs, grits and a biscuit. Eggs were over cooked and cold. Grits were good with the addition of butter, salt and pepper. The biscuit was cold. Would certainly have expected hot fresh food within an hour of them opening for breakfast. read more

This is one of the few places serving breakfast in downtown Mobile that my wife and I could find. It is a small diner with the appearance of a greasy spoon and the food matches the ambiance. My wife had eggs and grits which were fine however they forgot the cheese that she ordered. I ordered the corn beef and hash with eggs which came out in a large soup bowl. I hadn't had the style before but it seemed overly greasy with the heavy broth.although I didn't care for it, the waitresses recommendation of a buttermilk biscuit help to deal with the broth. The service was good and the facilities were clean. There is no public restroom. Prices are low. read more

I gave this diner another chance today at brunch. The service was much improved. I had Jenns BLT and it was delicious!

Not very busy, service was great and the food was even better. Biscuits were so good we got some to go, highly recommend.

Really good breakfast for a reasonable price and also great customer service. Nice atmosphere, if I'm ever back in Alabama I will come back(: read more

Bobs Downtown Restaurant - New American Near Me - Mobile, Alabama

This is a small, narrow, corner joint, on the edge of downtown, and has inside and outside seating. The inside seating is at the bar and at high tables, both with chair-back stools, only. It was fairly hot, inside, so I moved, to sit under a fan. I ordered Grilled Butterfly Shrimp, which tasted good, but they seemed to be under cooked. The three sauces were quite good. I also enjoyed the thick-cut fries, and the two hush puppies were okay. I did not like the taste of the coleslaw. No toast came with this. The waitress was friendly, but slow, although she seemed swamped. I would probably go back, to sample the breakfast items. RJT read more

Great food & fun atmosphere but small with limited seating. We went for a late breakfast (they serve breakfast til 3pm) and were able to walk in and get seated immediately. The food was delicious and the service was very friendly. Very laid back and family friendly. We will go back!! read more

Awesome local cuisine at an affordable price. The best French toast I have ever had, it requires no syrup in my opinion. The lunch specials are the best bang for your buck. They also offer a rewards program on their lunches. Get 5 stamps and receive a free lunch. If you have lunch on Tuesday you get 2 stamps! Such a good deal!!! And the coffee mugs are hilarious. read more

Disappointed! Did my research. Excited to eat here! Great jazz music with breakfast. Then the food arrived. Nothing hot! Corned beef hash had minuscule pieces of hash! Never refilled my husband's coffee when food arrived. His eggs not hot! read more

Had Pam's omelet and a burger. The burger had a back on it and a side of fries. It was really good. The omelet was ok, nothing to write home about. Good atmosphere for a Saturday afternoon. This place is probably fabulous for the hungover crowd that just want quick, greasy food to help recovery. read more

Went this afternoon at 12:30pm. Only to find out that they had no sugar, no biscuits, no french toast, no fruit. Hmmm, breakfast all day? The owner came out to ask our experience, when I discuss with him, his reply was "that's business..." "Write all the bad reviews you want..." Staff was unfriendly, apparently not organized. I do not recommend Bobs. read more

The most wonderful breakfast in Mobile!! Great atmosphere. Definitely go on a weekend and listen to some music. Plus our puppy loved the staff that bought he water and treats! read more

Bob's is one of them little friendly dinner type places to eat. The staff is very friendly with a smile and that just makes you feel like you been coming here for years. The staff was very friendly and interactive with our 3 & 4 yrs olds. The food came out hot and fresh with great flavor. This is a place if I lived here come here a lot just because the service you can tell the customers service comes first to them. I will come back here next time I am in town and I will recommended this place to everyone I know coming this way traveling. Thank you for the great service and great food. read more

Great food, great service. The spot of tea was crowded so we found this little gem. Great breakfast, now I have to try them for lunch.

Terrible. They don't allow substitutions for sides and almost every dish on their menu has meat as a side. I don't think it is that hard to change a meat item to a side of hashbrowns. Meat is obviously more expensive so I don't see a problem changing it to potatoes which are much less expensive. But what do I know? My food tasted so bad I couldn't even eat a few bites of it and I immediately felt nauseous. The fruit tasted like it came out of a can and was covered in bad fermented juices. Was not fresh at all. I would not recommend this place. read more

We walked in, the place was small, hot but I was willing to give it a try anyway since my husband and I never get to go to lunch together. Immediately after being seated we have a bug crawling on our table. The waitress comes squashes it ON THE TABLE slides it off and doesn't bother even wiping the table!! I didn't even order. Just walked out. Never again. read more

The staff was very personable and laid back. I had the shrimp poboy was not disappointed with the taste. And I mean my poboy was LOADED with shrimp! The fries were super fluffy on the inside and extremely satisfying. The wait for food was really long. However, I'm sure it was the time of day because there were a lot of people. Once I got my food, it was all worth the wait! read more

The food was good and I understand they were busy when we went but I had to practically beg for a menu, for a drink, to speak wkth someone, for a refill. That was kind of upsetting. read more

Bob's is my favorite restaurant in Mobile. Period. I always enjoy the food and atmosphere when I visit. The entire breakfast menu is delicious. The French toast is seriously good. Browned to perfection with a generous scoop of sweet cream butter. Later in the day I like to order the shrimp po-boy. I always get it with a side of Bob's homemade remoulade. It is the real deal and makes the sandwich that much better. I would highly recommend grabbing a meal from Bob's if you are in town. read more

We were traveling through from Texas and decided to stop in Mobile for lunch. The wait staff was extremely welcoming considering we walked in 20 minutes before they closed and never once hurried us out the door. Now to the food - The burgers were huge and very delicious. If we're not out of town era we would definitely make this one of regular stops. read more

Excellent Food!! Always great and fun service and the owner takes a personal interest that everyone is comfortable and well fed.

I would strongly advise not going to Bob's for breakfast... Ever. The corned beef hash was a very loose translation of the original dish. The potatoes were practically raw, likely because they were cut into such large chunks, which made the corned beef to potato ratio lopsided. There was enough grease in the box to put Waffle House to shame. The biscuits were strange and undercooked and there are no words for what was supposed to pass as gravy. It was a to go order, which they got wrong so we had to wait for the kitchen to cook the rest of the order. I tried to call and speak to someone and was told the owner would be there in a few minutes so I left my number. No call. So add terrible customer service to the list. And the best part? We got all this for just $40. Huge waste of time and money. And I'm still hungry. read more

I had only heard good things for weeks about Bob's and finally got my father to take a trip downtown with me to try the place out and I must say I was not disappointed. The food is some of the best home cooking I've had in my many years of travels. My father had the Fried chicken livers which he proclaimed the best he's ever had in his 70 years on earth. The menu selection is quite diverse as well as weekly specials. I've already returned again to try more. The food alone is reason enough to visit but the wait staff are some of the nicest most pleasant southern belles one would ever have the pleasure to meet. Make sure you get there early, they get busy quick. read more

had breakfast here and the food was wonderful. that was the only thing there worth anything. I paid for a mimosa that was literally the tiniest thing I had ever seen. two of my friends had the tiny over priced bloody mary's and both ended up sick all day. so yeah that's about. read more

We ate at Bob's this morning and as much as we wanted to love it there were some big let downs. Our food was pretty good but I don't understand why it costs $6 extra to get fruit on top of your French toast. The home fries and omelettes are really good. The Bloody Mary was the worst mixed drink me or my friend have ever had and although $3 sounds like a good deal, it was actually a scam for how small it was. To make matters worse, we both ended up feeling sick for the rest of the day. We called to let them know we ended up getting sick and were met with an unapologetic and uncaring attitude. read more

Every time I eat at Bob's Diner I'm amazed at how good it is! My favorite has been breakfast. I take ALL my out of town guests there, guaranteed to please. My latest obsession is the non-fussy chicken salad. I seriously cannot stop thinking about it and last week I had had it 3 times. Their BLT is better than at home, no skimping on bacon. The brunch music is like a cherry on top! read more

Went to Bob's for lunch today. My husband wanted to try a cheeseburger. He loved both it and the delicious French fries. I ordered a vegetable plate with green beans, baby carrots, greens, and the cucumber tomato salad. They were the best ones I've had anywhere - the green beans and the greens clearly had quite a lot of bacon grease for flavoring. Can't wait to go back....very well priced, too. read more

The service was absolutely amazing! The biscuits and gravy were the worst I've ever had. Ever. Raw flour-flavored gravy having no hint of protein in it whatsoever, and it's poured over unopened, hard biscuits so it doesn't even absorb in and one has to mash it up to get a bite that isn't dry. I'll go back and try them again though, thanks to Pirizia who was an excellent server. read more
