Horrendous service. Ordered 2 bagels with cream cheese (the simplest of bagel orders) - waited 20 mins and there was only 2 people ahead of us. When we heard the number after us being called to pick up their order, we asked what was taking ours so long... well, they didn't even begin to make it yet. To top it off, the guy at the counter was rude and unapologetic. I can't really say anything about the food since we walked out without it. It would be more efficient if the cashier both takes orders and processes payments simultaneously. For instance, I experienced a delay when I couldn't place my order as the cashier prioritized another customer who needed to be come back to pay for a previously placed order. With a minimum of seven employees at the store, one would expect an improved process. Finding parking is challenging due to limited parking and constant congestion, and waiting for the cashier exacerbates the situation. A friend recommended the place, praising the bagels, but my experience was disappointing. The sandwich, made with a burnt bagel, prompted me to remove the insides to salvage the meal. This has to be the worst bagel shop I've ever been to, yet they're always packed. They're packed because they have incompetent people working there. Time and time again I try and give it a chance since it's seconds away from home but time and time again it disappoints. There is not one time that I've ordered something so simple and they get it right. It's a simple bacon egg and cheese for Pete's sakes. Local business owners, pay attention, because this is how you lose customers. We placed our order over the phone, was told it would be ready in 10 minutes. We arrive 10 minutes later, ask for our order at the pickup counter and the cashier has no record of it. She asks what we ordered, says it will be a few more minutes. She does not give us any other updates while we wait another 15 minutes. Finally, we go to the other counter asking for updates. The other cashier comes back with our order and said it's been sitting on the side counter and they didn't see it on the other side. We paid $15 for cold sandwiches. People who walked in and ordered in person while we were there, left with their food before we did. POOR SERVICE. And honestly, this isn't the first time service was poor, but previously we attributed it to the shop being busy. After being loyal customers since moving to Lyndhurst, we are no longer eating here, as the lack of customer service makes ordering here a hassle and just not worth it. read more

I went there for lunch, it wasn't very busy. I ordered a pastrami sandwich and was told to wait outside. After several people came and went after me I checked on my order was told it wasn't ready. Checked again and they said oh yea here it is on the side counter. So I ate my hot pastrami sandwich COLD and the sandwich itself was not good. I walked in and the place was "busy." But there is 3 employees hard staring at me from the moment I walk in. The distance between the register and door is pretty far so its awkward being stared at in the eyes until you're close enough to say your order without screaming. Uncomfortable. The taylor ham, egg and cheese on a bagel was pretty bad. The egg was barely there. It was almost all bagel. So at that point I should just buy a bagel with nothing on it and eat it like that. I don't love Ridge Bagels but they're definitely better than this spot. This is one of the worst in the area for a taylor ham, egg and cheese on a bagel. I've been to this establishment several times over the years. This place at best is just ok. I stopped going last year after experiencing horrible customer service. In essence, I ordered a bagel and some egg salad to go - no prepared foods. The staff made me wait until they PREPARED the food of the five people who came in after me. I waited at least 20 to 25 minutes for them to put my items in a bag. They were not apologetic in the least. Yesterday my friend brought food over from Bob's Bagels. He immediately started complaining about how the quality of the food has deteriorated. The egg salad was bland at best. We ended up having to doctor it up. Bob's Bagels has decent bagels - probably the most authentic in the southern Bergen County area. If you just want a bagel with some kind of spread, it will likely always be tasty and satisfying, and they are generous with the spreads and toppings. We want to like their breakfast sandwiches because their location is convenient and the place is spotless. Occasionally they have been good. But most of the time, everything is overcooked, and the toasted bagels are burnt to a crisp. The cooks somehow only know how to take a freshly cracked egg, slice of bacon, ham, or taylor ham, and cook it until it is completely dessicated - I mean burnt, dry, and unappealing - they literally press the food onto the flat top until it has almost turned back to carbon. They add the dried out contents to a burnt, over-toasted bagel, and charge you over $7.00 for it. We have complained - several times. They don't pay attention and don't care. In addition, the wait is always ridiculous, even when you walk in and no one else is in the place! We are done, and will find a better place to spend our cash. read more

I never leave a review. I work in customer service where surveys are very important but I had to. They managed to mess up that badly. As I waited for my sandwich there were 2 others messed up before paying for mine. I thought, better have them check. Good thing, they went 3 for 3 and messed mine up as well. Waited way to long to be given a replacement. I get home they messed it up again the same damn way they did the first time. You've got to be kidding. Never had to wait an hour for a bagel before. First of all I called the order in ahead of time then when I got there they couldn't provide what I ordered so that was useless. I got there and had to wait 20 minutes for 2 bagels. When I asked what the delay was they gave me a bag saying it was my order. I then got home and it was nowhere near being close to what I ordered. I drove back to get the correct order and they handed me a bag, my cold order. I had to justify them making me new sandwiches. And when they did the egg whites and turkey bacon bagel was absolutely terrible, hardly had anything on it and was covered in pepper (picture provided). The funny thing about this whole ordeal was they weren't even busy. Just unable to get an order right. Maybe I'm biased because I live nearby, but Bob's is my usual "I don't feel like making breakfast" resort. They do, however, vary from breakfast to lunch food and have a DIY coffee stand, as well as drinks and chips and some baked goods. I must hand it to them: I LOVE their bagels - both quality and variety. Their cream cheese variety is just as impressive, with my favorites being olive, sundried tomato, and lox. But if you have a sweet tooth, I highly recommend a blueberry bagel and/or strawberry cream cheese. Good news - if you like their cream cheese flavors, salads, etc, you can always order containers of them to keep stocked in your fridge! I've only gotten lunch here a few times (mostly just sandwiches) and it was fine. Nothing special, besides a heaping of whatever cold cuts I had ordered. Some negatives: -they've confused orders or gave me the wrong one a couple of times -depending on when you go, the wait can seem eternal and it's not a very big area to wait around for your name to be called (I recommend calling it in and picking up) -they put a glob of cream cheese on their bagels and don't spread it out enough so you could probably cover 2 bagels with the amount of filling you get (may not bug others but I end up needing to take off a lot) Price: they've gotten pricier, but when you compare to a chain and realize the quality you're getting here, I think it's worth it (ex: I most recently got a sausage, egg, and cheese on a whole wheat bagel and a medium cappuccino for almost $8) Worth a try if you're in town! read more

Looks like they make bagels fresh in house however the counter shows $7 minimum to use credit card and I ordered twice and was charged each time a $.40 convenience fee. First time it was close to $15 & second time it was close to $10, but still charged the fees. Use cash to avoid. Just want to make something very clear. I have gone there several times before I write that review. Any bagel place that makes you wait that long isn't worth your time.
