Every-time I pass by, there is usually a long trail of cars waiting in the drive thru. One day, I got curious and joined that line. Fortunately the wait wasn't too bad. The menu had tea, smoothies and limited hot snacks. I was disappointed they didn't have any coffee drinks, but I liked they had drinks with no caffeine. I ended up getting the Messy Purple Sweet Potato (no-caffeine), which wasn't overly sweet. It was mainly fresh milk and the ube paste spread on the inside of the cup. It would have been better if I got boba with it. I also got the peach and passion fruit green tea, which was quite flavorful and good. I'd like to go again to try their other drinks. Tried ordering something to drink about 2 hours before closing. I was trying to get some boba fries and popcorn chicken but when I was told the kitchen was closed I was cut off by the employee. Customer service is terrible. If you don't want to work at night don't. My final order was just going to be a milk tea that I already had in the order and before I could say it was just going to be the boba I got cut off again. Once I got my drink it was actually terrible and doesn't taste anything like milk tea, too sweet to even drink it. Definitely wouldn't come night and based on other reviews regular hours don't sound great either. read more

I have been seeking out boba milk tea joints lately. I probably shouldn't due to the desire to lose some love handles, but I can't help it LOL. After dining at Ramen Yukinoya in Arcadia, I normally would go next door to get some Half and Half Tea Express (HHTE). Well, this past weekend, I wanted to try out Boba Ave 8090 that is just around the corner from HHTE (2 mins walk)... not sure why Yelp names it Boba Ave Express though... is it because this location has drive-thru? I was a walk-in... didn't go through drive-thru. When I saw the drive-thru, my first thought was "someone obviously didn't care about the congestion of cars lined up out onto the street" in case they get really busy. You can barely fit 3 cars at most between the ordering window and the street. Next thought I had was, "where is the front entrance?". They have plants or bushes surrounding the entrance. Anyway, there are tables and chairs outside and some inside, but by the looks of it, they blocked the inside dining area and were using it for employee use only... hmmm. I was slightly disappointed of the menu items. Thought they would have more choices. It took me some time to decide on what I wanted. Ended up getting the Taro Milk Tea (forgot to ask for my toppings and the gentleman taking my order didn't ask me either)... didn't tastes like the taro milk tea I'm used to drinking... odd flavor. Also got the Brown Sugar Milk Tea with boba... excellent milk tea with soft and delicious boba (this one is a keeper) and Strawberry & Mango Green Tea with lychee jelly... another keeper with good deep fruit flavors, but amount of lychee jelly was lacking a bit. Staff was okay. I actually had a hard time understanding the gentleman who was taking my order. He was very helpful, but just hard to understand his words. Prices are pretty reasonable. Please note this place is credit card only (at least at this time until they change it in the future). Few parking spots in the front and there appears to be some additional parking in the back. One last thing, it was challenging to puncture through the foil lid cover... was afraid it would splash all over so I peeled the cover instead... I didn't care for this approach. Not sure if I'll be back to this location... I may try their other locations. Anyhoo, if you want to experience a drive-thru boba place, drop on by this one. You may like them. They have a different set up for ordering now it's only DRIVE thru at first I got excited I ordered my drink and and some chicken popcorn, from a camera then you will make a Uturn for payment and getting your order. My foot was not ready and he told my to go back to parking 5 - well there are cars behind me and there are cars parked on the other lane and for me to get to parking 5 - I have to go back to drive thru lane that has 5 cars ahead at the ordering line. read more

For a Sunday evening, the wait wasn't too long, but shortly after I got in line, the cars got fairly backed up. They have a decent-sized menu with drinks as well as a few snack offerings. Got a peach and passion fruit tea with lychee jelly, a taro smoothie with honey boba and a Thai tea with honey boba. It was about $6 a pop for the medium size. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. Loved that they repeated the order a number of times to ensure the correct order. Drive thru boba? Say less. The service is quick and staff is kind. We ordered the Hokkaido Milk tea and Messy Purple Sweet Potato. The milk tea was a little more sweet for us to handle, but was overall a pleasant drink. The messy purple sweet potato is a personal favorite. It's milk based and has sweet potato paste so you sometimes get to slurp a bit of it if you don't mix the drink completely. That with the honey boba too good. read more

Review update : I used to visit Boba frequently, basically every single day, but I have not gone in more than a month, I was made aware that they changed their brown sugar, milk tea recipe. I had noticed in a few different occasions that the drink was too strong and bitter, I wouldn't even drink it all before throwing it away, I still gave it the benefit of the doubt and would still go in hopes, that it was just the person making the drink that was messing it up. Eventually I decided to ask one of the workers if you can remake my drink because of the taste, he was very nice and polite and said, of course, asked me what was wrong with it as I explained that it was too strong, and I had an odd flavor, I think he knew what the issue was already, but still made me a taste sample to see if I would like the new drink he was making me, it was still the same flavor. I just asked for less sugar, (I still only took about four steps before throwing it out). Ultimately long story short, they changed their brown sugar, one of the workers informed me that that is probably why the taste is so different now . It is no longer the same that it used to be, and it has made the drinks not as good as they used to be in my opinion. read more

This cute little boba shop is possibly called Boba Ave Express because of its drive-thru. However, it is definitely not express because the drive-thru line extends all the way to the parking right next to it. Also, it takes up at least one lane thus causing traffic! Yikes! To order in person, you walk to the left side of the store. There will be someone at the entrance to take your order. As of now, there's only outdoor seatings btw! I'm giving this place a 4 stars because the order/pickup system needs some improvement. I found it hard to pick our drinks up because there was a line for ordering and made it stressful for us to have to go through the people just to grab our drinks. I've been here a couple of times and I think their gimmick here is that there is a drive-thru...with quite a long line. With how the times are idling your car isn't the smartest decision. It's best to order at the store front and wait for your drinks to be ready. The menu is quite small with little variety. There are also a few snacks for purchase. I got the Jasmine Green Milk Tea and it had good flavor. Next time I definitely have to try the uji matcha. I HIGHLY suggest getting their popcorn chicken because it's a perfect combination with boba. I got it in medium spice and they didn't skimp on the spice.
