My new go-to spot for boba during the time of COVID! This place has a lot of classic milk tea and fruit tea flavors, and you can add whatever toppings you wish. You can also adjust the sweetness level. What I love is they have drive-through! So you can get your boba fix safely. I've had the brown sugar boba milk tea, Thai tea, Hokkaido milk tea, and almond milk tea, and all were very tasty. I've also had their popcorn chicken before and it was quite good. Definitely worth a visit! read more

What's the point of ordering online in advance if the place has no Wi-Fi ? I waited in the drive thru then they made me park, get out and go wait in the front... then wait even longer. It was alright. Got the Messy Purple Sweet Potato Milk Drink and was like some purple sweet potato sauce on the side that didn't really mix well with the milk. The drink itself was basically purple flavored milk. Its flavor was very similar to cornflakes in milk. I would suggest adding some sort of actually purple sweet potato. 7/10 drink. The place is cute and petite. It was my first time and the service was great, she automatically told us about the promotions they were having to help save me some money. Line is long, not because it's crowded but only drive-through and some orders take long. They keep having new people working there who don't speak English, just got my order wrong now but I didn't bother asking them to remake. The drinks are also not consistent - happens when they have to keep hiring new people. read more

I love it here! The prices are good and the tea is great! They have fantastic boba. There's a drive through so you don't have to go inside and i as a very anti-social person really enjoy not having to walk into an establishment. Orders are prepared very quickly. The line is sometimes long but that's just because the boba is worth it! A must try! I'd recommend the Hokkaido milk tea at 50% sugar, otherwise it would be far too sweet. 25% might even be better because Hokkaido milk tea is always very sweet. read more

I tried their drive thru as I have never ordered drive thur from a boba place. I originally want to order taro slush, but they do not have that. I decided to order taro smoothie. They did not include taro bits inside the smoothie like the other Boba Ave. The taste was just so-so, not as great as the one in San Gabriel. However, the smoothie is more expensive than the store in San Gabriel. Consistency in taste and recipe are highly recommended between stores. read more

A little hard to find but once you do you'll be pleasantly surprised. They even have a drive thru which is great when you just want to get a quick drink without getting down. Really excited about the drive through concept. Although it looked amazing, it was absolutely worse tasting milk tea I ever had. I told them if it could be sweeter but they told me it's already at 100 percent sweet and that they will not do anything about it. I left feeling totally disappointed, and I threw a whole cup full of drink away because I can't bear to finish such bad tasting drink. Because we redesign the cup and redesign the cover to make it more fit with each other. This kind of lid is made to open easily just like yogurt lids so you can drink or eat the cheese foam.

Half sweetness was already plenty sweet for me, I can't imagine how sweet this would've been at full sweetness! I was pretty full from lunch, so I sipped half the drink slowly that day and kept the other half in the fridge for the next day. It was just as good!

The barista seemed a bit tired of explaining the tea flavors on the menu, and I honestly don't blame them at all. I'd be annoyed if I had to recite and explain the same large menu over and over again to countless customers throughout the day, when it could've just been written on the menu. If mgmt is reading this - you should fix the menu to make it easier for workers (and customers). This could also help move your line faster, which I've often heard complaints about. I ordered the Koan-Im milk tea, unsweetened, without toppings. I usually like my teas and coffees dark and less sweet, no toppings - especially when I'm trying a new tea shop so I can taste the quality of the tea first, and see whether they get their milk to tea ratios right. The Koan-Im oolong was described to me as a dark roasted oolong so it sounded like it would fit my preference. Unfortunately I barely tasted any tea in it at all, and the drink was mostly just milk. I'm not even sure it was fully milk, since I tasted hints of non-dairy creamer (I should've asked the barista about this before ordering but I didn't want torment her any further after she just rapped an entire menu to me, so I made a hasty choice here). Unfortunately I had to bring the drink home and add more tea to fix the milky flavor. My honest thoughts - I should've ordered a plain tea drink rather than milk tea, so I could at least taste the quality of the tea. I don't think this place makes milk teas that I would like. They're likely one of those tea shops that are popular for their sugary milk tea drinks that lean heavier on the milk and toppings instead. I'm sure their tapioca mochi is lovely, as is their popular "popcorn milk tea" but if you're a person who prefers darker tea drinks with less of the fuss and frills like I do, this place isn't for you.

Boba Ave Express is one of my favorite tea houses in the arcadia area. Yes, there are many and many and many of boba shops and speciality tea cafes, in fact it's almost endless and around every corner here. However after trying out so many of them, I would still stay that this place is one of the best around! They truly specialize in teas and are masters of making it. The atmosphere of the place is also really old school. It is one of the best around if you want to sit down with your laptop to work or study or smoking. This place truly has any sort of liquid drink for everyone. Even if you don't particularly like tea or boba, they offer a large variety of other drinks like, smoothies, yogurt drinks, juices, and even toast and actual food! There's something for everyone here, and it makes for a great place whether you come by yourself or with friends. WiFi is super fast which is a big bonus! The staffs are always so friendly & so helpful. If your not satisfied with your drink, they'll make the changes for you without any hesitation. I was looking for a nearby place to tune into my video meeting. I totally was unaware that there was wifi here, I was just into the fact that it seemed to be close to the neighborhood. When I walked to it, I was like, whoa this place is a drive-thru! Not only that, there is outside seating and a really clean, modern looking interior already decorated for Christmas oh, how cute. I didn't know what to get, being my first time here, but the signs for organic milk were really appetizing... I picked up a menu from a farmhouse mailbox, very pleased to see Hokkaido milk tea. The snacks looked very tempting as well. One iced drink with a side of seasoned fries for me. I was able to listen to my meeting with no problems as the volume is not overwhelming on the inside of the building. There was no competition for tables or chairs and I had a great conversation with Diana who helped me with the WiFi code. I used to frequent Boba Avenue Express all the time, but the quality of their drinks has really gone downhill lately due to serious inconsistency. During my last few visits, the drinks just tasted completely off, either there was barely any tea flavor at all, or they completely forgot the sweetener. What made it worse was the customer service; whenever I had to drive all the way back to let the staff know, they would actually argue with me instead of just remaking the drink or trying to fix the issue. I decided to go again today to give them one more chance, and honestly, it's gotten even worse! My drinks literally just tasted like water mixed with a tiny splash of tea. No real flavor, no sweetness, just watered-down disappointment. It's super frustrating because this used to be a go-to spot for me, but at this point, it's just a total waste of time and money. Not the biggest select of drinks but they narrowed it down to a few good choices. The drink I orders was mediocre but good at best. What really gets to me Is the design of customer flow through the drive through. It's like helping one customer at a time. It doesn't seem like they put much thought of how to design a drive though. On a Friday night you can be waiting in line for over an hour and only 6th in line. Look at how in and out does a drive though. They have an employee outside taking orders and getting people out fast. If the building had one side taking orders and the other side was for picking up orders. That would be better, but it's not in this case. Your litterer waiting for the person in front of you to order and then waiting for them to get their drinks. But it's a really nice atmosphere and nice looking place. I just wish they thought of making it function better. read more

BAE is my favorite place to go to study and hangout. Parking is Super easy to find (there's extra parking behind the building in the back). They have a big variety of food and drinks that are not pricey. We ordered a honey green tea . You can upgrade your drink to a large for small amount of money. The honey green tea wasn't overly sweet and was still really cold even when I ordered it with less ice, which was nice. The pop chicken was also good, it had a amazing flavor and juicey taste. Drive thru is amazing.Came today for the dirty milk tea. what a rainy day today!! I mainly come here when I need to study or for the drive thru.It can get quite busy in the late afternoon to night, so I usually like to come in the morning to early afternoon when it's still quiet to study. Ordered a Hokkaido milk tea tonight with 50% sugar & light ice today as a little dessert after dinner, made sure to have them adjust the sugar level and ice level before I paid because I can't have my drinks too sweet, and wasn't in the mood for anything too cold, yet the drink tasted like liquid diabetes and the ice filled half my cup. Not even trying to purposely give a bad rating but just hoping that this review will spark some changes here! I don't know if the barista didn't calculate the sugar levels right or just doesn't know how to make drinks but in case of unhappy customers in the future, I seriously hope the baristas working in the back take customers orders respectively and responsibly, and learn to do their job right, especially for a simple request of lowering sugar levels and ice levels. read more

Honestly after looking it up on yelp, I did not have high expection for this place. I thought it was the closest to my workplace so I'd just grab a drink and go. I WAS WRONG!! They normally open at 11am but they offered to make me my drink before that so I wouldn't be LATE! The girl was also very nive and sweet too! FYI If you come too early dont expect to get boba CAUSE they make it fresh every morning! I didn't mind that, and thought it was very nice of them to make it fresh(alot of the other places have left over boba from the night before). I got one of the messy milks with lychee jelly, and I LOVED it. I have never written a review before but is glad to do so for this place. Waited 30 minutes in the drive thru with around 5 cars ahead of me. Avg 6 minutes per car. Ordered their house milk tea regular sweetness. They say I could try it and if I don't like it, I can bring it back and they'll remake it. Made a mistake and didn't try it at the pick up window. I would have asked for a refund. Didn't drink it til I got home. First of all, the drink itself is too sweet. I'd recommend 50% for those ordering this drink. Second of all, the milk tea tasted powdery?? Weird because they told me they blend their teas rather than shaking. Third, the boba is mushy and grainy. I also found a strand of hair wrapped around it. This place deserves 0 stars for ruining my car. Came here for dessert after dinner and who knew this trip would cost me a fortune. Ordered a brown sugar milk tea and a Thai tea. They helped to put my drinks in a cup holder which I placed behind my seat in the back of my car. Just got home and noticed that the brown sugar milk tea spilled all over my car floor with the thai tea leaking in the bag. Never had this happen to me at any other boba shops before considering how lids are supposed to be sealed shut. Their cheap foil lids don't even seal properly. This is definitely going to leave a stain. Interior cleaning gonna cost around $100. Who's paying. Their drinks weren't cheap either. Two drinks came out to around $13. read more

I was debating on giving a 3 or 4 for this review. This place is good but is always inconsistent. Some days my drink taste like condensed milk, other days it's perfect. I always order medium spicy fries and sometimes it's super spicy, sometimes it's mild. There's always a line going out into the street so it's for those who are patient and can wait 20 minutes in line. My favorite part about this place is that they have a drive thru. The workers are usually nice. Overall I would recommend this place. I hope they see my review and find a way to make everything more consistent. I never like to complain, especially since they always look busy but it's sucks to spend 5 dollars on boba and it being different every time. read more

They truly thought about the wait and placed edgy wall arts and graphics so we may feast our eyes as we wait for our boba and Taiwanese snacks to be ready (July 25th). We came back 3 more times after our first visit and loving their mango yoghurt blended, jasmine tea (no milk) with crystal boba. Their fish balls, sweet potato fries were top notch while their popcorn chicken (non spicy) was nice. *don't be discouraged if you see about 5/6 cars ahead because they really know how to get the orders moving. I have a very happy experience here today I always spend time with my friends at boba ave 8090 which located at San Gabriel. This is my first time to try this boba ave Arcadia because they have a drive through!! It is very cool even though today I wait around 5 minuets for my green tea but I think it worths. the handsome Asian boy is very patient I told him I don't want too sweet he made my drink to 50% sweetness and he give me white boba for free he explain for me he feel sorry about my wait time and I really like his smile maybe next time I want him number :) when I got home I almost drink the whole bottle green tea lol!!I will recommend my friends to try this place in the future read more

When I first time come here there were so many good choices to choose. I will helped us out and recommended a few drinks to to us. The Rose Green Milk Tea was one of the first drinks I tries when I first time come here. It was really good and it has a strong flavor to the drink. I have been to many boba shops and tried rose milk tea but I think here is best! You've got to try it! For the other drinks is Hokkaido matcha. The matcha flavored is very good, this is different startbucks matcha, and the matcha mixes really well with the sweetness of the Hokkaido. If you are a fan matcha, I'd say get this drink! Came here to try the drive thru and was totally disappointed. The workers are extremely rude when I was asking about the types of drinks they had.. and even gave attitude. I'm pretty sure all their 5 star reviews are fake.. if you actually look at all their profiles and read their reviews you can see that they all comment about the great service which they do not have. The drinks are super watery and they give way too much ice even when you ask for less.. theres no tea flavor and the boba is rock solid hard. How can you mess up on boba? My experience at Boba Ave Express was unfortunately disappointing and frustrating. During a visit, my friend found pieces of hard white plastic in his drink, which is concerning for safety and quality. After contacting them, they promised a refund, but even after several weeks and a follow-up visit, the refund was not processed, leaving the issue unresolved. Additionally, the quality of their popcorn chicken is inconsistent; sometimes it's enjoyable with large pieces, but more often, it consists mainly of small, less appealing scraps. I waited 40 minutes just to get to the ordering window and have them tell me that their internet was cut off and that they were only accepting cash? I ordered a brown sugar milk tea with boba and it was definitely not worth the 40 minutes I wasted in the damn line. I don't understand why they even have a drive through because their system is so inefficient and if they have a manager he/she probably sucks at their job! If McDonalds can do it why can't they?? Their damn line even blocks off half of Baldwin Ave. and I'm constantly scared I'm gonna get into an accident or pulled over by cops because the long line seems far too dangerous. read more

The boba was fresh, soft, and chewy. Definitely enjoyed this drink more than the other drink! I got the Taro Boba Milk with whole milk, and I love that they use actual crushed taro instead of that artificial purple powder. The boba had the perfect amount of sweetness, firmness, and bounce. The guy with glasses working there was super nice and apologized for the wait. There were about 15 people in the shop, including a larger group, and he was handling the kitchen, drinks, and register all by himself, so the wait was totally understandable. Really glad I found this spot. With so many boba places in the SGV, this one definitely stands out, and I'd happily come back!

In a way if you like tea, then this is a place for you. If you're interested in fruity, sweet drinks, or mixed drinks, smoothie, etc, you won't find much choice here.

On my most recent visit, I ordered a green milk tea with mini boba and was surprised to find a scoop of vanilla ice cream in the drink. Whether it tasted good or not, it felt like a total sugar bomb. This is primarily a grab-and-go drink shop, so the service is pretty standard--just basic greetings and order pickup. Nothing particularly memorable, but nothing negative either.
