Voted the Best Cheesesteak in Bergen County according to their website, my partner and I decided to pay a visit to Bob-O's Cheesesteaks, located on Main Street in Ridgefield Park, for lunch. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the staff at a simple and clean interior. Lighting is basic and bright with a row of full windows with single seating providing a more spacious feel as well as 4 tables indoors and 5 tables for outdoor dining during pleasant weather. Their big-size menu is featured on the wall with cheesesteaks, egg rolls, sides, and much more. We decided on the Bob-O Sandwich, Chicken Cutlet Sandwich, and Onion Rings. Food was prepared fresh per order. The sandwiches were really delicious and served hot. However, the peppers used on the Bob-O killed it. It looked like roasted peppers from the jar were used and not the fresh peppers sautéed with onion. The onion rings were hot, crispy with no oil or sogginess and didn't skimp. Giving what's supposedly the best cheesesteak in Bergen County a try! (I'm not sure how many cheesesteak places there are in Bergen County though.) the restaurant is located on a corner. There's metered parking out front. They have seating inside and outside. A restroom is available for customers. The kitchen is open and appeared very clean! I ordered the Bob O ($12.99), a chicken cheesesteak egg roll (1 for $5, 2 for $9) and onion rings ($5.49, same price as fries). The onion rings were my favorite. They were crispy, not greasy and best of all when you took a bite the whole onion didn't come out (hate when that happens!). The egg roll was way bigger than I expected! This was a bit greasier and while I enjoyed it there was something almost watery about it. It didn't seem to be oil, which I would've expected; I couldn't figure it out! Then the cheesesteak. My fiancé loves cheesesteaks so we came to try it out! It wasn't too busy in a Sunday night so that was nice. Service was friendly. The place has a couple 2 seater tables, some outdoor benches and bar like seating against the windows. Paid street parking only (I believe Sundays are free). Now onto the food! I had the Bob o chew steaks which was the regular cheesesteak with peppers and onions and it was delicious! I did feel like it needed a sauce or more cheese so I had ordered some cheez whiz on the side to dip in. My fiancé tried the Ron man which I took a bite of solely to review and I felt like it could've been better - it definitely sounded better than it tasted. It tasted like a fried mix and bread, nothing crazy. The fries are delicious on its own. The loaded fries were good but I think next time we will stick with cheese fries. It's small with a few seats inside. The girl at the register was pleasant and my food was ready in 10 minutes. I got the build your own steak sandwich with cheese whiz, onions, peppers, and mushrooms. I also ordered it on garlic bread. They had a few side options but I went with the onion rings. The steak sandwich was very good (it was Jersey shore worthy). The only complaint which is minor is that I really didn't notice the garlic bread. Other than that it was very good. The onion rings were outstanding. Very crispy and not greasy at all. There was a good amount in the order and the sauce it came with was awesome. I'd go back here just for these. These might have been THE best onion rings I have ever had. After doing a bunch of yard work, the last thing we wanted to do was cook dinner. So we decided to have a fat day and just order some cheesesteaks. It took maybe half an hour to 45 minutes for our food to arrive. While the onion rings were no longer hot, they were still incredibly crispy. No oil and no sogginess. We didn't finish it but I ate some the next day straight out of the fridge, and somehow, they were STILL crispy. I don't know how they do it but I definitely need me some more of these onion rings again soon. For mains, I decided to go with the classic and had the Bob-O cheesesteak (shaved ribeye, grilled onions, green peppers, and American cheese). Hubby had the Ron Man (shaved ribeye, chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, honey mustard, American cheese - but he subbed this for peoperjack). I've been on a search for a solid and similar cheesesteak place here in the northern NJ area since I love Philly cheesesteaks. I discovered Bob-O's Cheesesteaks and had great expectations after reading the Yelp reviews, but sad to say, I'm came away a little disappointed. While I certainly appreciate that this place is focused on cheesesteaks, which is extremely rare in this area, it didn't satisfy my craving as I had hoped. 1) Prices are pretty high. $13 for a 8" cheesesteak seems criminal given the actual Philly cheesesteak shops in Philly charge $10-11 for a 12" cheesesteak. 2) I could justify the price hike if the cheesesteak was similar to the Philly quality. The cheesesteak here isn't bad by any means. It's just different. The meat quality is decent although I feel like they could put more into the sandwich. The menu states grilled onions, but they are actually caramelized, which I personally am not a fan of. Changes the flavor profile of the sandwich. The bread could be a bit softer but not terrible either. 3) I got a side of onion rings and they were really great. I would definitely get these again. I am interested in the other sandwiches and may give them a try but the cheesesteaks missed the mark for me. It's very small inside with only a few seats, but there are 5 very clean and well kept picnic benches outside for when the weather is good. I also saw a handful of people picking up to-go orders.
