Bob Evans has been around forever and I can see why after stopping here for a bite. The place was clean and the staff was friendly. The food menu has a variety of options to include some great options for the frugal foodie. They have a $8.99 special that has several options. I chose the country fried steak and boy was I happy I did. You will not leave hungry. I also over ordered and asked for a bowl of potato cheddar soup, which was delicious. The country fried steak was not greasy but crispy on the outside with the steak being very tender. The side of green beans and mashed potatoes were also superb. I am going to be making this a normal stop option in the future. I would suggest it to anyone. read more

I ordered scrambled eggs, bacon, fruit, country gravy, and toast. The toast was terribly buttery, not lacking butter but pure butter. I almost questioned if it was egg yolk. I always eat light (and moreso when on road trips) so I'd never tried Bob Evans before. Today's lunch was excellent! I had soup & salad for $8.99. The potato cheddar was awesome, needed no additional seasoning, and was tasty and filling. The salad didn't skimp on tomatoes, cukes, and green peppers (as some places do), and the iceberg lettuce and spinach greens were very fresh & crisp, not a spot of rust on it (some places that are more expensive chop the salad greens with a knife, which causes those brown edges on your lettuce). The vinaigrette dressing was great, and the rolls with soft butter were fantastic. Food quality was good & service was efficient. Five stars! read more

Easy pull in with a large Home Depot parking lot just behind for RV parking. We wanted quick and consistent comfort food which was BE biscuits and gravy on a Sunday. We ordered to share. B&G, Blue Ribbon bacon, loaded home fries and fruit. The fruit was not fresh and very small portion. It wasn't too pricey but should have been fresher for what was given. The Blue Ribbon bacon is simply bacon with syrup poured over and few sprinkles of pepper. The sticky mess isn't worth the experience. I'll stick to regular bacon next time. Loaded home fries - they ran out of green onion. At this point, we were wonder wtf else could there be off for this visit... B&G full order used to be 4 biscuits with a bowl of gravy. Came with two. We order 1 more when we needed it and she brought two and didn't charge us. (We didn't complain about the portion to her) Service was excellent. Waitress is Melissa (according to the receipt). I went to Bob Evan's with my sister and my mother. We ordered dinner bell country fried steaks. The waitress asked if we wanted the double portion or single portion of country fried steak. We all decided on the dinner bell, single portion. The waitress even said dinner bell. I asked for extra gravy on the side. When the food came out only one was single portion and they all had an extra side of gravy. The person who brought the food out said we could have it and she would tell the waitress about our order. The waitress came back after we all already started eating and made us take one steak off our plates!! After they said we could have it. It was humiliating! Also what kind of back woods, red necks make you take food off your plates?? What were they gonna do with them? Serve them after we stabbed them with our silverware that we had in our mouths?? My boyfriend and I usually enjoy weekend brunch at Bob Evans. We had a strange experience. First, we sit at our table and the tip from the last group was sitting there. We were told to ignore it, someone would be around shortly to get it. Next, we order and when it came, it was less than desirable. Half of the plate was empty, where we assume the other half of the fries should have been. The French toast was supposed to be brioche, but it was regular bread. We understand that supplies can run short, but inform the customer when they order so they can decide if they want regular bread or something else. We saw the waitress three time (when we ordered, when we got the food, and with the bill). She never checked in with us or gave us napkins. The hot chicken sandwich was super messy. We could have used the napkins. It also could have used more hot sauce. You can do better Bob Evans...you can do better. read more

Stopped by for breakfast with my college kids. Nothing is worse than someone who is a grumpy Gus because thy are working the holiday. DEFINITELY NOT THE CASE today. Savanah was a ray of sunshine on a cold, and overcast day. And boy did she hustle. Between being attentive and pleasant she was a speed demon at bussing tables and seating new customers. Other staff finally showed up but she looked like she was the show at first. There was a trimmed down menu for breakfast but still good option. Will definitely come back. The low star reviews of this place must have been commissioned by the local competition. This restaurant is always busy and the wait staff is efficient and courteous. The food is so reliable. When you are in mod Michigan, it's difficult to find a reliable place that you can walk into and it feels warm and familiar. The food is hot and portions are large. Took five minutes on Saturday at noon to get our food after being seated. Ten minute wait in line. We love the turkey dinner and the omelettes. The rolls are yeasty. The biscuits sausage and bacon is tasty. Coffee is hot and delicious. Ignore the other reviews and enjoy your meal. read more

But we usually go to a restaurant to eat, so lets talk about "that"! Food was very good as I remembered stopping at other Bob Evans. I always loved the Country Biscuit Breakfast! A biscuit with sausage patty bits (lots of them) under Sausage gravy, an egg (over medium) with cheese on the top and it comes with potatoes of your choice (or fruit)! Food was decent, but their potato "soup" was very bland and weird. It was pretty thick for a soup, and was literally just cheese sauce with unseasoned potato cubes. Maybe this appeals to the senior crowd Bob Evans primarily serves. Too much seasoning can cause heart burn, and we know the geriatric groups can't handle anything with spice. But for the average person, this weird cheese sauce "soup" is pretty weird. Pot roast sandwich was good, but it could've done without the 7 pickles attached to a toothpick and shoved violently through the top. on Friday, June 24 Caleb the manager for that day was not accommodating our request for service for my niece which is handicap. The hostess said it would be a 20 minute wait we were willing to wait we asked to look at the menu ahead of time so that we would be prepared and ready. I asked if we could order ahead of time so that when the table was ready the food wouldn't take too long because of her circumstance. he said he would not be able to accommodate us. he made a scene in front of the other customers which was very embarrassing to my niece she had to leave because she had to remove herself from that situation she was so embarrassed. read more

The waitress was brusque and unfriendly. She wore a ring in her nose. Brought our drinks and didn't see her again for 15 minutes. After half an hour of waiting for our food I found the manager. He said our waitress forgot to give our order to the cooks. A couple minutes later our food arrived obviously microwaved beef and gravy over mashed potatoes. The waitress came back after the manager brought us our food. She was none too happy and made a snide comment. A quick lunch during our travels from up north to Lansing turned into an hour-long battle to get a decent meal while on the road. As much as I despise 'fast food' I would have preferred it to this so-called dining experience. To add insult to injury the bill came to more than $20 and I just ordered water. Can't ever enjoy a breakfast here without some kind of issue both dine in and take out. Service is terrible and you can see wait staff huddling in the back slowing down the services. Bob Evens is always a good place for breakfast, however my only complaint is the the quantity and the quality of the product depends on which restaurant you go to and what time you go. One day you will order for instance the pot roast and get a healthy portion of meat, go another day or time and get the same thing and you get different quantity and even different plates and presentation. Food quality seems pretty consistent for the most part, not not the greatest but not bad either. For me, one of Bob Evens downfalls is that they just don't seem to have ANYTHING on the menu that has any type of WOW factor or makes you want to start out by saying "you have GOT to go to Bob Evens and get this" Price is very reasonable and kid meals are a good value. And with bottomless drinks including hot coco and cappuccino, this is not a bad place to go for the value. My husband and I went here after going to Home Depot and getting a lawn mower. We were both hungry and not wanting to cook, so we found Bob Evan's very convenient. I ordered the Savor size (smaller size) Pot Roast Stroganoff. It was a salty, not-as-good stroganoff when compared to the kind I would have at home. I think if I wasn't as hungry as I was, I wouldn't have eaten nearly as much as I did. I still left a good amount of the salty meat despite the hunger. Definitely would not have wanted the normal serving size. If my husband wanted to eat here again, I would be willing to try a different meal. My husband had the Country Fried Steak. This was very good and it came with the kind of mashed potatoes that one would get at KFC, which (of course) means goodness. He demolished his steak, green beans and garlic toast. He slowed down when it came to finishing the potatoes. The service there is very good. I'm not sure if it was because it wasn't too busy or if it is just the norm, but the moment you needed/wanted anything a waiter was there to help you. read more

This was the worst breakfast experience that I can remember. First, the waitress was nice and friendly but that is where the good part. When the waitress brought our food to us she asked if it was to well done. If you have to ask then it is. They wife requested a replacement order for her home fries and half of them were to burnt to eat. My hash brown replacement was not completely cook and I was only able to take one bite from them. I tried to suffer thru the sausage patties but only one was edible and that was questionable. The gravy for the biscuits was barely warm enough to eat. Long check out line moving very slow. After I paid the bill I requested to talk to a manager. I talked to a Ms Miller and advised her of my experience. She apologized and said she hoped we would come back and give them another chance. When I told her I do not see that happening she made absolutely no offer to reimburse any portion of this meal or the next one she was trying to talk me into. Ordered a family feast dinner for Easter. Had a friend pick up for us. Ordered online and wanted to order a whole pie but website wouldn't let me. So after I ordered without the pie I called the restaurant and talked to John the manager. He couldn't add a pie to my order and charge me to the card I used online.My friend who was picking up for me was not close to where I live and didn't have $15.00 on her to pay for the pie. So I told the manager to forget the pie. My friend picks up order and when she gets it to me half the order is missing. No Family size potato soup. No Gravy for the mashed potatoes and no banana bread. All of which I have paid for. So I call John who tells me his restaurant doesn't make mistakes. After arguing with him he tells me to have my friend come back and he will have it ready for her. So now she has to drive another 15 miles to pick up the rest of my order. When she gets there John is mad because she is 5 minutes early and again tells her we do not make mistakes. Like we were ripping him off. The bag comes out all stapled up. John guarantees her that it's all there. She didn't open it because of all the staples and figured it was secured because of hot soup. She gets it back to me and guess what, THERE WAS NO SOUP AGAIN. JOHN GAVE HER ANOTHER MASHED POTATOES. I NOW HAVE TO CALL THE RESTAURANT A 3RD TIME TO TELL JOHN HIS STORE DID IT AGAIN. He wants my friend to come back a 3rd time. I said no. I'm done playing your games. I want a credit for my soup to my card. He never compensated my friend for having to drive there several times plus treating her badly. Plus after he said I would get a credit on my card, I never did. That was a week ago. John basically ruined our small Easter gathering. My husband and I are both disabled right now and can't drive. And it's hard to have to depend on others. John took a bad situation and made it worse. I use to love this place but John has run this restaurant into the ground. My BF and I went here today for lunch. I had ordered the half sandwich combo with the option of soup, salad, or a baked potato for $6.99. I got the Farm Grill Turkey, Bacon, and Cheddar on a Ciabatta bun and a baked potato. The baked potato was tiny and cold. The butter would not even melt. The turkey lacked seasoning. I don't think they know what salt & pepper is. Or what mayo is because the bread lacked dressing. I had to ask the waitress for some packets of mayo which she just tossed at me.The slice of cheddar cheese on my sandwich was more like a Frisbee. I was tempted to see how far it would fly in the restaurant but didn't want to make a scene! LOL. I asked the waitress for a fresh slice of cheese. She gave me an attitude about it. Sorry lady, I like fresh, soft cheese! My BF got the Pot Roast Philly Knife and Fork sandwich for $6.99. One glass of soda cost $2.39. Our waitress never asked him nor brought him a refill. He said that the gravy and roast were delicious. He was disappointed that cole slaw did not come with this sandwich. This must be a light portion for a young man because he was still hungry after eating this little sandwich. On our bill I had noticed that I was charged an extra dollar for my combo. I asked the manager what the extra $1 was for but she was not sure, stated that she had never seen that before. She took the extra $1 off. I don't plan on coming back here for lunch again. I've stopped at this Bob Evans a few times - always for take-out, because it's convenient to the highway and makes for a quick dinner if I have a busy night. Most of the meals I've gotten there have been pretty good -fresh, fast and still reasonably hot when I got home (20 miles away). However, there seems to be a trend with all of their food - too much salt. Tonight when I stopped to get a take-out dinner of meatloaf, mashed potatoes, gravy & green beans, the meatloaf was dried out and *extremely* salty - so much so that I couldn't eat more than 1/2 of the first piece (the order came with 2 pieces). The gravy was salty as well, and even the mashed potatoes were salty! Top that off with green beans cooked with ham (more salt), and you have a pretty much inedible dinner. (The green beans come with the meal, they were not a choice on our part.) Dinner rolls were provided, but were bordering on stale - hard around the edges. Not sure what needs to be done to get the good folks at BE headquarters to get the message about the salt in their food, but it's been a consistent problem for a long time. I don't think we'll go back. We value our low blood pressure readings, and even an occasional meal here, such as we've had in the past, is enough to send the old Sphygmomanometer skyrocketing. read more
