Great visit primarily b/c of the server, she was amazing!! She'd been there 20 yrs & think her name was Jennifer maybe. She even settled a kid's argument at our table as she was taking orders & then cheered them all up w/ whipped cream smiley faces on 4 pancake orders. Also she picked out the ends of the banana bread b/c I asked not to get the doughy centers. Someone's eggs came out on wrong plate but she fixed it fast & brought extra rolls for them. This place needs to close. The waitress was really nice but the food was as usual... bad. I ordered a fried fish platter. The fish was so over cooked it was hard and crunchy. The French fries were hard/ stale. There were 5 of us and all but one were very disappointed. The one who wasn't disappointed ordered a cold turkey sandwich. I guess you can't over cook that. Went last week for breakfast with the kids. Service was very unprofessional and looked like they didn't know what they were doing although waitress was nice. Very noisy. Wait was incredibly long. Just had breakfast here, we are on our way back to Wisconsin from Ohio, I thought Denny's was a good value, but Bob Evans was even better. I ordered the Whole Hog breakfast which consisted of 2 eggs, 2 strips of bacon, 2 sausage links, 2 sausage patties, a piece of ham, 1 pancake and 1 French Toast, my goodness; All that for $12.00 bucks, WOW!! My wife had the classic breakfast with 2 turkey sausages, 2 eggs, hash browns and biscuits. She liked everything, but the biscuits. I hardly ever have a doggy bag for a breakfast meal, but this time I had one. I shared my ham and pancakes/French Toast with my wife and I still couldn't finish my meal. We didn't even make it to ordering. We went there for lunch on a Wednesday. We were taken to our table, but "it has to be wiped down. Hold on"...shouldn't this be done after clearing the table? We sat down, opened the menus and looked at the table under the salt/pepper and the window divider between the booths. Something was spilled and dripped on that was NEVER wiped off. I took my husband and two kids here and we did not have a good experience. To start they don't have any highchairs that are not broken. When we received our omelettes, the vegetables were raw on the inside and cold. My husband's omelette had cheese sprinkled on the top, but there was no cheese on the inside. The server came to our table one time to check on us. It was not busy at this time. Maybe four tables in the entire restaurant were filled. I've been coming here for probably as long as this location has been open. It's not a fancy place, but the food is pretty good. It's as similar to home cooking by mom or grandma as a restaurant can get. Breakfast is my favorite time to eat here. The sausage gravy is the best ever. There are many breakfast options and they are all great with large portions and great prices. Dinner options can be pretty awesome too. The turkey dinner and the meatloaf are great. We took her granddaughter to breakfast and when we arrive the parking lot wasn't even half full. However we had about a 10 minute wait as they were short on staff that was OK. Our server Debbie was fantastic and took really good care of us. I have the western omelette with cubed home fries and it was delicious. I had wheat toast with mine the only thing was it looked like they used liquid butter on it not so great, overall though it was a tasty meal. My wife had the biscuits and gravy along with three eggs at home fries. And hers was delicious as well. This is the 2nd time in a row this experience has been bad. Each time has been with two little ones and each time the wait for our food has been 45 min or more. I should have left but with two hungry kiddos, that probably would have been harder. Today when we tried it out again, our food wasn't cooked all the way and they didn't offer any type of compensation (I.e biscuits while we waited, discount, etc). Our waitress told us the reason everything was slow was because the main chef called off and the manager was back there cooking food, which I still find to be unacceptable for a popular breakfast spot on a Sunday. Surely they have more than one chef. Our waitress was subpar, too. We had to ask 3 times for water (during our 45 min wait for food) and when our drinks were brought the first time, the girl was throwing water and creamer all over our table. They don't have English muffins or Canadian Bacon so you can't enjoy Eggs Benedict. i ordered eggs and ham with shredded potatoes. Our first and last time here and possibly any Bob Evans! The food was mediocre but the support for basic food service cleanliness and COVID19 guidelines was nonexistent! We were in a booth that looked into the kitchen. Our table was sticky from the previous diner. This means little or no cleaning was done much less disinfectant used. The carpet was dirty and obviously not cleaned in quite some time. The servers were wearing masks and very friendly. That was a plus. The reason for my poor review was the lack of cleanliness and safety protocols used. Waitresses were clearing tables of dirty dishes, pouring drinks, serving food and stocking shelves all without gloves or washing their hands between these tasks. We watched our waitress retrieve a box from the back of the restaurant, open it and take handfuls of the individual packets of crackers and transfer them to a bin located on the counter. Then she picked up dirty dishes from one of the tables, then grabbed a rag from a passing waitress and wipe down the table she just cleared. All of this without washing her hands. All we could think of was the level of bacteria and germs being distributed across all of these items and areas of the restaurant. That wasn't the worst thing we saw! The cook has only one loop of his face mask on! He had heated something up in a microwave and was eating with one hand, while going to the grill to check on something he was cooking! Then he put his mask on, delivered the food to the serving shelf... took his mask back off and took another bite! Unfortunately, we had already received our food and were half way through eating it when we witnessed this. Needless to say, we lost our appetite and decided it was time to leave. During this pandemic, proper hygiene is important! Basic food service cleanliness is expected! This restaurant had neither! Please avoid this restaurant! Should have read the reviews before stopping at this place. Bob Evans is not my usual go to breakfast stop, but we were out running errands and it was nearby. We were seated quickly and our orders were taken. No issue. Then the food came. Looked good, no issue. My husband unrolls his silverware and it's sticky. Sticky because it still has syrup on it. Gross! He goes to move his plate and notices something on the bottom of it. It just looks like some crumbs, so he ignores it and keeps eating. When we are don't eating, we life up the plate, there was a whole damn pancake smashed on the bottom of his plate. So gross. We paid and left. The service was fine but that is just gross. Got carry out and ordered Farmers Choice breakfast. I requested cinnamon supreme hotcakes along with my scrambled eggs and bacon. Initially the cashier acted dumbfounded (I get this all the time at other locations) then she told me she could 'add' the components to the hotcakes (are you sure?) and I certainly was up charged as well. Once my order came out I had to send the over easy eggs back which lent a bit of distraction to everything else. After my order was finally completed, I got home to hotcakes that BARELY had any cream cheese; which is the whole draw to the dish. Won't come to this location again for lack of attention to detail let alone the average two star rating that I should have paid attention to. Holy cow ... where do I start? If I could rate it a zero, I would have. The server butchered our order, disappeared from sight for a half hour, and then returns with cold food. When my wife told her that her omelet was cold, she had the audacity to ask if my wife wanted it warmed in the microwave to warm it up or another order made fresh? After expressing some initial discontent with our order so far, we then got the stare down from one of the management staff from across the dining room. Instead of coming over to apologize or check on our concerns, he just kept staring at us ... big marks for customer service there. Upon check out, we had to ask for a manager in order to discuss the issue. Thankfully, a different member of the management staff came over to discuss it. He showed some skills in dealing with a customer who had a bad experience. He comped some of the bill and apologized. He even offered up a dessert to go for those who may have had cold or inaccurate meals. I am hopeful he just has really good customer service skills, but my gut tells me it is just from way too much practice. My mom and I ate here out of convenience yesterday after we upgraded her cell phone next door at Verizon. We had both eaten at Bob Evans years before so really did not think we would have had such a bad experience...probably my worst ever and if I could give a 0 star I would. After our server Madison brought our drinks and took our order it seemed like we waited quite some time for our food. And the restaurant was not busy at that time. When the meal finally arrived I received corn on my plate when I ordered broccoli about I didn't care or complain at this point. I was willing to eat what I was served instead of waiting longer for it to be made right. The corn was .also cold...a first for us and my mom is picky so she didn't eat the corn. Then to find out after I was part of the way through a piece of my chicken Madison brings me the correct plate so she gave me the wrong meal. I didn't know because I had not eaten at a Bob Evans in many, many, many years. When Madison realized I had already started eating the wrong plate she made a wise a** crack about hmmm...honey, honey. I didn't catch it at first nor complain again but she was referring that I should have noticed because what she served me was honey chicken breast over biscuit not the regular breaded chicken breast meal I ordered. The final and last straw was when I was in the restroom and my mom paid for the meal. I came out and saw she paid over $26 for the meal. I was like how...each of our meals were supposed to be $7.99 each plus drink. We were not given a detailed receipt at the table nor were we given a detailed receipt at checkout. I immediately inquired about this and it took some length of time to get this detail. Madison kept butting her nose into my conversation with the cashier and told me what she charged for which was not what I ordered. She was like that is what you got. In the course of her and now the cashier arguing with me caused me to raise my voice and then these two preceded to talk over me making me even madder. At this point I requested a manager which I was told she was on her way and would be here soon. Her name was Crystal. During the time I got loud briefly a table of customers got up and left after ordering. I apologized to them but they thanked me for letting them know of my bad customer service experience. The reason I had to wait so long for Crystal was because she had to call another store or corporate to figure out out to pull our ticket back up so she could fix the over charge. During the time Crystal was fixing the receipt Madison again was all up in our business standing next to Crystal as she was fixing the issue. Due to the bad service I feel the meal should have been comped but that was not even offered. I personally will never eat at this restaurant chain again. read more

Nothing special to say about the food, as Bob Evans pretty much delivers the same food every time. Instead, I'll note the service here. Our waitress took our drink order relatively quickly after we were seated, and returned with our drink order a couple minutes later. That would be the last time we would see her until our food was served about 20 minutes later. In the meantime, my wife had to go to the counter/wait station to ask for a refill of her coffee. This was a little surprising as, even during a busy time like a Sunday morning, there is usually someone coming around with coffee for refills. Went here for lunch. Had soup and had to pay $1.99 to get a roll with it. (It came with crackers.) Server didn't return to ask if I needed anything until I stood up and waved to her. Soup has gotten less flavorful (more watery.) Wanted chili but was told they won't have chili on the menu until after Jan 1. At checkout, many servers and managers standing around but only one person on the register. She was taking a take-out order and spent 5+ minutes trying to enter it into the computer. Not a great experience at Bob Evans in Avon. First of all we had to wait 10 minutes for a table to be available. When we sat down there were five tables open. I don't know why we had to wait 10 minutes when there were 5 tables open. Our waiter was very slow and didn't collect our plates. We were cold, then we were warm, the heat didn't work.
