MEDIOCRE AT BEST - The service was decent and of course as a local we love sitting outside by the water. Unfortunately the river water is coffee brown due to the discharges from polluted Lake Okeechobee, but that is not the restaurants fault. Food quality, however is. There were seven of us and each person had a different sandwich or salad. The caprese, which I had was inedible. The rest were mediocre at best. Wait staff should always question why someone doesn't touch their food. Ours did not. We will not return. read more

My wife and I have grown to love the Boathouse. Up until this evening we have had nothing but great food and service. A place to entertain visiting friends and family. Unfortunately, we just left because we were told they would not seat us inside because they were holding these tables for the guest who were sitting outside. Hostess felt that bad weather might be coming and would not seat anyone inside (still no a drop). She told my 7 month pregnant wife and I that we can sit at the bar because the bar serves the full menu. Really?! You are in the service business. When half of your restaurant has open tables, you seat your guests. read more

The chips were ok, the 1/2 bowl of onion soup was ok, the steak/mushroom flatbread was horrid. Still feel ill from whatever mayo sauce was used (was it mayo?). The steak mushroom flatbread had 1 mushroom and 1 piece of steak per slice, a lot of mayo sauce, and a little truffle oil. The waitress was very nice. This place was such a pleasant surprise. Having not found too many good options in Stuart, the Boathouse is a welcome new addition. The food was great and the service was awesome. Crowded but it is high Season. Locals: eat upstairs at the bar- same food, no wait to be seated, amazing view of the river and moon from the big windows. Fun atmosphere and food was very good. Four of us came for dinner. Mixed review. Two ladies had the shrimp wrapped in bacon in crab, mashed potatoes and asparagus. $28 for four shrimp - we both agreed it was really tasteless and dry. We do not recommend this at all. Husband had Mahi fish with mango - tasted great, but came with NO side $26. He ate my mashed potatoes. Other husband had two sushi rolls, salmon and another kind - he liked them fine. Why is it when you go to a higher priced restaurant, you pay more, yet get less food, no bread, and no sides?! Waitress forgot to come back or return with requested items. We left hungry. After paying $80+ for our meals, we ate food when we got home. Had lunch on Saturday 3/4 and found it to be very tasty (prime rib sandwich & fries) also the water view was wonderful. Among the other 7 members in my party there were no complaints about the food, drinks, or service. We were seated quickly and our waitress was friendly and attentive. The outside downstairs tables are absolutely adorable. You get to look up at the architecture and landscape of the building which you would never really notice seated anywhere else. Our dinner was between two places one block from each other. We had 6 in our party, no reservations at either place. Both places would take us no problem. Both places, Spritzers and Boathouse are priced pretty much the same. Spritzers was going t put us outside next to parked cars and people constantly walking by, or Boathouse we could dine outside with a beautiful view of the bay on the water. So we went to Boathouse. I ordered a appetizer Edamamme. Although they were good, when you get to the bottom be careful there is a load of oil and it can be messy. Entree portions aren't huge. Meals come with delicious bread and butter, you have to ask for it though or you just won't get it. I'm not a seafood lover, I ordered fish and chips. One piece of fish, fries, cole slaw. Most places give you 2 or 3.......here you get one, so eat slow. Usually I order fish and chips because when a lot of us go out they want seafood. So, I'm a sport and usually just order that. Everyone like their dish. Service was excellent. Prices were, well it's Florida, restaurant is located right on water, it's season, the place isn't cheap. I think they are little more than others in the area. But it's location, location, location. Will I return? HELL NO! read more

I don't know why there are any bad reviews of this restaurant. We ate lunch here yesterday and everything was great from the drinks to the food and service. The mojito was one of the best in the area not too sweet and not to tart, had fresh raspberries in it. My husbands and sisters margaritas were also great and large. We had a fish sandwich, crab sandwich and fish tacos and all were great, cooked perfectly, fresh fish and plenty to eat. Their fries are really good and so is the coleslaw. John was our server and he was really good. Came by enough to see if we needed anything and our drinks and food were brought out in a timely manner. He asked if we wanted more drinks (went to avocatos in West Palm beach a couple days ago and was never asked if we wanted a second drink, mojitos sucked there too). John asked if we needed anything, how everything was. He was a great server. I watched other servers and they seemed attentive also. "Great place to eat in old downtown Stuart...You must ask for Angie!! She is the BEST!!" I stopped in with my family to The Stuart Boathouse, and quite by happy accident stumbled onto a wonderful service experience! The food was delicious, very good portions for the value, and our server Angie was the BEST! She was SO warm, friendly, and accommodating. Angie knew how to anticipate our needs and even took care of my family while she had a very busy section. But you wouldn't know she was busy as she kept her cool and dealt with some VERY challenging guests with the utmost professionalism. We were so impressed. For the management at The Stuart Boathouse: PLEASE recognize Angie for her wonderful service. We would come back and eat there just because of Angie. What an asset to the company!! Lovely location on a beautiful breezy day - the service was good and the food presentation attractive. Still can't understand how a bartender in Florida can make such a bad mojito and charge 11 bucks for it. It was as if he/she had never heard of mudding or how important green limes are as opposed to those with yellow spots - or why skimp in the mint? I had dinner at the Boathouse recently. Like many waterfront restaurants, the Boathouse gets by on its location and view (which is great) more than on the food and service. Dinner was OK. Service was friendly but forgetful. I might consider going back one day if I brought family so we could enjoy the view, but there are too many other options with better food and service. read more

While exploring the Historic Town of Stuart we were lucky to find the Boathouse located right on the river. We sat at the bar for a drink where we were made to feel welcomed by the bartender Jordan. We moved to an outside table to enjoy the amazing view and delicious sushi. We ended our meal with the best Oyster Rockefeller I've ever had. It was the first time by boyfriend had them and I think he's hooked. We can't wait to go back. A definite 5-Star experience. read more

Very disappointed. I've passed this place many times and always wanted to try it and sit outside. My father in law was visiting from out of town so we thought we'd go. It was a Friday about 6p. We were told we'd have to wait about 45min to sit outside but no wait to sit upstairs. So upstairs we went. The server was prompt, attentive, and courteous (hence the 2 stars). But the food was not good. My husband ordered the steak flatbread which was burned on the bottom and the steak was tough and dry. My FIL ordered the Mahi with mango chutney and it was almost raw. I tried a bite and could not eat it, and I love Mahi. I ordered the French onion soup and the cheese was burned so it made the entire soup taste burned too. The bill for 3 adults (meals listed), 4 drinks (3 were special $5), and 1 kids meal was $92. I thought it was overpriced as well. Definitely not $$ more like $$$. Now, maybe it's a good place for happy hour but we will not go back for dinner. read more
