Stopped in for lunch and sat at the bar. While waiting and waiting I noticed a little card on the bar that stated that an 18 percent gratuity would be added to every check. TIPS stands for To Insure Prompt Service. Just like every other restaurants that adopts this practice the service levels decrease. As a person that tended bar thru college I always tip big. This practice is insulting to me especially when service levels are horrible. Walked next door and had a wonderful lunch and was greeted immediately and left way more than 18 percent. They were always friendly and attentive and happy to make recommendations. We were a party of three made up of two adults and a teenager. The adults ordered fish and chips and the teen ordered the Ahi Tuna Stack off the sushi menu. The fish tasted as if it had just been caught and was cooked to perfection. The Tuna was excellent as were the chips that were served with it. Overall, the Stuart Boathouse is a great option for a casual and relaxed dinner with family or friends. The restaurant has a beautiful waterfront location, excellent service, and delicious food. We definitely plan to return. Notes: The bill for the three of us came to about $100. We thought it was reasonable. We walked in and had no problems getting a table on a Saturday night. If you're a larger group you might want to call for reservations. I've been a few times to the Boathouse. Their Staff is pleasant and do a pretty good job. The view outside is awesome of the water. We have sat at the bar for drinks while waiting on our table. Always a fun time. There is a full bar menu available. The menu definitely has something for everyone. Unfortunately, there has always been someone not quite pleased with their meal at the table. Not what I thought..but in a good way!! Not to give a backhanded compliment but for some reason I thought this place would have been a bit cheesy (more like one of the chains) but I was wrong. Met some new friends and she got us a table on the top deck out back. Unbelievable view. I really was amazed how nice it was, thinking it might one of the nicest views in a restaurant in a long time. Mike our was server. Awesome job. Attentive and took care of everything. We shared their artichoke dip and the edamame. Both were proverbially licked clean. We were seated upstairs, there was no ambiance. Downstairs was much nicer. Food was extremely overpriced, small portions but was good. Service was marginal at best. We were with a larger party and about four of us stayed afterwards for a bit to chat. We were the only ones left upstairs and then they threw us out at about 8 o'clock. They start playing with the lights turning them up very bright. Considering it was still very early and nowhere near closing time. On an invitation, we came to this restaurant. It's located by the Indian River Lagoon, where it is always breezy. The several times we passed by, it has been crowded. With a reservation, we got our seating immediately at the upstairs room. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. With some drinks and starters, the dinner went smoothly. For Appetizers we had the Cranberry Salad, Wings, French Onion Soup and Shrimp and Calamari. I was told the Soup and Salad were pretty good. The Wings came in many flavors; we had the Honey Mustard. It was a tad too sweet for my taste! It helps that they have Siracha Sauce. The Shrimp and Calamari are small in size; just a nice snack. For entrees, we had fish: Cod, Salmon, Swordfish and Tuna. The person who had the Cod, cleaned his plate, but that's the way he eats his food. The Polenta was rather milky. The Swordfish was really good, with a bunch of chopped vegetables with bacon. The Salmon was cooked medium, which was just right. It came with a crispy fried square block of sushi rice. Again, it had a creamy milky sauce which I didn't care for! The Tuna Nachos was crunchy and flavorful. For dessert, we had the Crème Bulee and chocolate cake. Both were great. The service was excellent, the food not so much, for the price we paid. We went here for a light lunch on a Saturday and we felt like we hit a homebrun. There was beautiful outdoor seating with a view. The bar area was very nice too. I had a yummy Sangria, the appetizer portion of prosciutto crusted scallops and a small cranberry salad. Hubbie had onion soup and a Caesar salad. First, the good: the views, and the menu. I can't speak to the food though... Next, the bad: literally the entirety of their staff. Never in my whole life have I encountered a more morose, judgemental & arrogant staff. I ordered a Jameson ($12. It was an extra $2 for ice, which they didn't mention) on the rocks & the Swordfish ($31) at the bar as I waited on a table outside. The bar tender didn't tell me that if I ordered food at the bar it would veto my table outside; a table I was waiting on for my sister and her husband. After some eye rolls, disinterest and complete general lack of courtesy by their staff, I handed the bartender a $20, told them to cancel my swordfish & dipped. I would've had drinks and food outside on that patio with my family all afternoon. $300+? I don't know, it doesn't matter. I'd ask everyone to seriously consider taking their business elsewhere. I just don't think they deserve the money. A view cannot possibly be worth that much. read more

It's the view for me! The food was average at best, but I enjoyed my time looking at the sunset from the Stuart Boathouse. Don't even consider coming to this restaurant if you don't plan to sit outside and take in the views. Let's be honest, you aren't coming here because they have to best food, or drinks for that matter. I ordered the oysters, fish dip, and Pompeii roll. For drinks it was the jalapeño margarita. I don't usually like fish dip, but it was actually tasty here. Everything else was pretty bland and the drink was weak. So maybe come get the fish dip, drink a beer, take in the view and then head to another restaurant in the area for dinner. read more

This is a room which they clearly use to seat any party with children (we had none) to keep noise levels downstairs to a minimum. To make things worse, this room has zero noise dampening built in considering the hardwood floors and tin ceiling....as if it was built to restrain a supervillain, who's only weakness is high decibel levels. There's a lot of old charm and character to this riverside dock restaurant. We were seated next to the water which was pleasant and relaxing. Staff is friendly and accommodating. A party of four, we ordered Buffalo wings, French Onion Soup, Mahi Tacos, New England Clam Chowder, and a Garden Salad. I had the wings and chowder which were delicious. This location is perfectly situated; great water views, occasional bands playing adjacent to the restaurant, good food & drinks, and a wonderful staff to serve you. We had the onion soup to start which was very good, and I later enjoyed their fish Taco's. They also had a variety of IPA's that I had trouble decided which one to order. Our server was so kind to make that good choice. Since we were at the very lowest level of the restaurant, our server had to climb up and down stairs to serve us. Total ripoff. Went there specifically for their Happy Hour Menu (see attached). We ordered two $8 Tito's Martinis from the menu and were shocked when we got the bill for $44.82 (also attached). When we asked why the $8 Tito's Martinis were costing $18 each, we were told that the Happy Hour Menu only applied Monday through Friday. Nowhere on the website or the Happy Hour Menu state that. We brought that to the attention of the hostess who simply shrugged her shoulders. We did followup by sending an email to info@stuartboathouse.com but never received even the courtesy of a reply. Charged me $14 for a Tito's and then added a $4 up charge to make it a Bloody Mary. Very deceptive. Go down the street to one of many other great local restaurants. They have unlimited for $19 FYI. Celebrated my birthday along with a friends birthday by having lunch at the Boathouse. We enjoyed a great table outside, with our pups, and a fabulous band was playing next door at the city open space. Albeit, it was a bit loud for a restaurant setting, but our table was farthest from the band and could carry on a conversation with others at our table. Lots of nice selections on the menu and special of the day was a crab cake blt. Two people ordered the special and two of us ordered the New England style lobster roll. The special was outstanding, while the lobster roll was disappointing. Not much lobster and not like what I've had at other restaurants. My friend is from New England and expressed not like what she has known. Next time I'd opt for something different. Wine list is a little thin but we opted for champagne and found a nice Pinot noir. Deserts were delicious and our waiter, Mike, was also great. Pleasant personality and despite being extremely busy, prompt with service. We will definitely return. read more

We have been going to the Boathouse for over 6 years. Last Saturday was quite a change. Wondering if they sold. I ordered what was to be a cooked lobster tail in a sushi roll, what I got was minuscule pieces of lobster in mostly rice. Then after the dinner we got a check with 18% gratuity which was never disclosed on the menu or by any sign or even the server. Well the service did not deserve the 18% charge. The server told us here is a 20% off coupon for a new restaurant they opened. No thank you. A staple of Stuart now off my list. The company sent me an email to ask about our experience but never replied to my comments. A nice view but a rip off and food not as described on their menu. Sad. read more

I came here for a late lunch on a Tuesday and it was pretty good! I ordered the clam flatbread and amaretto creme brûlée. You can't beat the location. I do feel it was a bit overpriced. My flatbread was tasty, however, when I started dissecting each piece, I didn't think the quality matched the cost. Pretty sure my clams came from a can, as they were chewy and very small. Also, the mound of Parmesan on top didn't have that delicious saltiness I would expect. The dessert was a nice texture, although I found the plating a little tacky. There was caramel drizzled on the plate and it tasted very much like a bottle of smuckers or something. I noticed on the dessert menu that they wrote "house made whipped cream", but didn't write that about their ice cream or anything else. It was sort of a red flag to me, seeing as I would expect them to make everything from scratch at the price point. Overall, I had a great experience. A Sunday sort of brunch before the rock'n river walk live music on Sunday hit the spot. The seasonal hummus and the salsa 2 ways were spot on. Service at the huge bar avoided wait time and the prices are very very reasonable. Sitting on the riverfront patio also gives you front row concert seating just so you know. Wow what a great find for lunch. We were strolling around the avenues and found this at the end of the street and decided to duck in for a drink in front of the river. Wound up ordering appetizers and a sushi roll that were out of this world. Service was excellent the view was fantastic and the food was incredible. Fish dip was one of the best we've ever had. And the lobster in the tempura roll was absolutely succulent and tender and perfect. Even the small salad was excellent and sorry we didn't order a larger one but we were stuffed. Best seafood restaurant I've been too in a while. The Ahi Tuna Stack was great, so fresh and tasty. The Swordfish steak was perfectly prepared and cooked. The chef gets a huge shout out for that great dish. My wife got the sriracha salmon and was highly impressed with the perfect crispy outside and moist and tender salmon steak. Our family that we met and dined with enjoyed the Stuffed Shrimp and Fish and Chips. All meals were raves about and given high review to our wonderful server Chris. He was very informative with the menu, made you feel at home, and allowed us to enjoy the meal as we enjoyed the view from our patio table overlooking the water.
