Let me start by saying I have an old BMW. I always go elsewhere for my usual work but have found myself here more frequently in the past few months thanks to all of the recalls on my car. I can't really speak for checking out new or used cars to buy here but on the service side they're great. Maybe a bit slow but that's not their fault since there seems to be a ton of recalls at any given time. There might be a disconnect between dealerships and corporate as it's corporate who calls you with the long and daunting voicemails saying THIS IS AN EMERGENCY YOU MUST FIX THIS! Then because of the mass robo call everyone is trying to get their car fixed at the same time. I thought my airbag would take an hour at the most. It ended up taking nearly three hours but all in all it was totally fine. Just come with reading material and your tech devices if you find yourself here for a recall repair. Instead of working on my next recall they also made sure to check in with me first to let me know it would be an additional two hours. I decided to schedule another appointment for that but it was nice that they checked with me first as that hasn't been the norm for me at other BMW locations in the area during the long life of my beloved car. Best part? The complementary car wash, both inside and out! Pleased with their service overall. As for corporate, that's a different story. read more

Just bought my X3 there yesterday. Special thanks for Ronald Askew and JC Thomas. Ron is very professional, and really puts the client's interest first. He has the qualities of the best sales-- knowledgeable, patient, efficient but not pushy. He took care of my trade-in Audi and helped me build a X3 with all the features I want. Price wise, I got a very decent deal. I am not an easy customer but I am completely happy doing business with him. And I would definitely recommend Ron to my friend who wants a BMW. Horrible customer service! I went in to get a repair done that I was told was under my warranty, that someone inspected and APPROVED, only to be told when I came in it wasn't and that the cost would be a couple thousand dollars. The service manager JOE DISS sent the service associate that was working with me back and forth to relay the message. When asked to speak to him directly I was made to wait while he did his rounds around the office (I watched him) then he came to "fetch" me. When I was sitting in HIS office I was told that a LICENSED SERVICE person that approved my warranty coverage made a MISTAKE?! I asked how that happens and there was no answer, "he wishes he could do something in the future" for me..? I asked how that would of occurred- I would of shown up to the service center to get my repairs fixed thinking my warranty covered it when they have already decided that it wouldn't and be responsible for my charges?!! He assured me that wouldn't of happened because they would of "stopped the process when they figured it out." I'm sorry, but BMW I expected so much better. I've been a loyal customer of BMW Silver Spring for 6 years. I've always been satisfied with the service here until today. I've purchased two vehicles here and had all of my service needs taken care of here. My current vehicle was purchased around March 2021. I decided to trade in for a newer model. I explicitly asked my sales people to ensure that I had complimentary service/maintenance packages for the new vehicle as the trade in. I walked away a fairly happy customer until today. Today I walk in to have services completed and I asked about replacing my windshield wipers which were faulty since I purchased my "certified" vehicle. I never made a fuss about it and figured I'd just simply have them replaced at my first maintenance appointment. I was told by my service advisor (new guy but very nice guy, Grant) that not only would the wipers not be covered, but that I also only had maintenance coverage from the date the vehicle was purchased by the original owner, not the date that I purchased. I was also informed that my package did not include brakes and rotors, which was included in my previous purchase. This means that I'll be spending close to 3K when it's time to get my brakes replaced. This was NEVER explained to me before today. Had I known that, I would have made different decisions. This is not what I thought that I was walking away with. From what I learned today, this has recently happened to other customers as well... not right!!! I feel bamboozled and deceived by BMW Silver Spring. I trusted this location and now feel that I was tricked just to get another car off of the lot. I'm angry. This is not right. This is not good customer service! It's disappointing for a dealership that aggressively pursues customers to leave Good reviews and rates the value of their employees but ratings as well. I've always given these folks high remarks. I never thought I'd be in this situation. read more

Do not trust Salesman Miguel Mendez or Sales Manager JC Thomas. I traded my 2018 Mercedes Lease with 2 payments left and they said they would take care of everything and I wouldn't have to pay anything else. All I had to do was turn in keys and if under mileage i wouldn't have to pay anything else. Well after the car was turned in I receive a bill from Mercedes stating that I needed to pay turn in fees of $595. I was surprised and called these to individuals. After a week of trying to sort this out all they could tell me was that I was stuck with paying the turn in fees and was told " it is what it is". And then they hung up. I guess this is how BMW handles business. This ruined my BMW experience and will not be buying another one ever. Back to Mercedes I will be going. THANKS FOR NOTHING BMW!!! read more

I brought my 2006 325i to BMW of Silver Spring due to a recall. It was one I couldn't ignore, because it could have resulted in the car catching fire. BMW wrote registered owners and instructed them to contact a local dealer to have the PCV heater replaced. Dealing with this dealer was difficult - start to finish. It took close to 15 minutes between holds and transfers to book an appointment. That seems excessive. When I showed up for the appointment, the service writer who had booked it wasn't in the dealership. There were others available, but...I had to wait for her to return before anything else could happen. And, yes, the receptionist DID show that I had an appointment. When I came to pick up the car, I had to wait nearly an HOUR from the time I was told it would be ready until I actually got the car. There was a problem with the repair. When I checked under the hood the next day, I found that two clamps holding the power brake booster line were damaged. (They were fine the day I brought the car for service). Hard plastic, they had been broken by the technician when s/he moved it to access the pcv heater. I called the dealership, asked to speak to the service manager. None was available, would the shop foreman be OK? Yes... and, guess what, no call back. Nor the next business day from the Service Manager. Really disappointing service experience. The waiting and the bureaucracy are annoying, but would have been tolerable had the technician not broken something else in effecting the repair. The clamps SHOULD have been replaced. As it was, I had to go to my regular repair people to have that done at my expense. Unacceptable for a premier brand like BMW. read more

This was our second BMW lease with them, and while there are dealers a lot closer to us we decided to go with BMW of Silver Spring again because of great past experiences. Everything went smoothly until it was time to get our security deposit refunded from BMW financial services. Apparently BMW of Silver Spring never sent in the proper paperwork. So after numerous calls and emails to BMW of Silver Spring and BMW FS a partial refund finally arrived after several months. We were supposed to get three payments refunded but only got two. BMW FS pointed out BMW of Silver Spring did not fill out the pull-ahead paperwork correctly and someone from the dealership needs to call and fix the issue. When we reached out to the dealer again, this time we got the silent treatment. Emails are ignored and no one from the dealer has reached out to fix the paperwork. It's been 9 months since we got the car and this issue still remains unresolved. From what I understand is the pull-ahead refund comes out of the dealer's coffer, so this may explain their reluctance to resolve the issue. read more

I sent this note to the sales manager of BMW of Silver Spring To whom it may concern: You are flat out not going to believe this. Just to review: * You found us a car and made a deal. This car fit most of our parameters. * We posted a deposit * You sold that car to somebody else. An honest albeit embarrassing explanation was given to me by a Manager taking 100% responsibility for your actions. Never called it an honest mistake. He made it clear that one of his employees went against their procedures and sold the car that was listed as sold. I fielded a phone call Andre our sales person trying to make it right offering what was likely a deal slightly in our favor on another more valuable car. * Paid for this new vehicle in full and arranged pick up last night at 6:00 PM. * I made it clear to Andre (he is new and not seasoned, so, he gets a pass) that I was not comfortable coming inside during the pandemic. He said his finance guys insisted I come in sign. * We arrived slightly after 6:00 PM yesterday evening. * 6:45 passed and we were still socially distanced in two chairs in the corner of the show room. Many of your employees were not properly masked. The reception desk had a gaggle of 2,3, sometimes 4 people sitting in a circle not properly masked and definitely not socially distanced. * Poor Andre was standing in a corner watching us. * I announced probably far too loudly he had 5 more minutes to "Get us the f*** out of here". * We left never having seen anybody that could consummate the deal. * I called and sat on hold after being told the "Finance Manager" was not available. * This a**hole picked up the phone and was not only unapologetic, but arrogant. * He took a verbal broadside of F-Bombs from ***** making it clear she was disappointed. Usually, I can figure out their home addresses and send the letters to their homes. Usually, I find all kind of good stuff to quote from your website, social media, etc. in the letter. I don't have to be to creative. The list of CCs is far greater than the body of the letter usually. I get personal information off linked in and company websites. I hand address the envelopes to the board of directors. At least one usually gets opened and acted upon. (yes, this is SOP when I'm treated poorly. I learned from the absolute best! A client of mine, thank goodness he was never angry at me) I then send the letters to the corporate officer, managers, janitors, etc. I will send those individual letters to the corporate offices. I really don't like giving bad reviews but when a business costs me time and money I have to put them on blast. I'd hate for anyone else to have to go through what I'm going through now, I leased a vehicle from this location and I'm taking it to another location for service. The whole reason I leased is so that I had that luxury, the dealership found my service has completed my service but the paper work on BMW of silver springs end was not done properly. They won't release my car until BMW of SS provides some very basic paper work. I'm wasting my time because their finance department isn't diligent or responsive. Don't go here. Incredible first time BMW experience with Len Familiant and my BMW Genius, Eric Lovo!!! I can't say enough about these two. Len was extremely responsive to all my questions and giving me the BEST bottom line compared to all the dealerships I shopped. Plus they carried the exact color combo I wanted for my 2017 X5!! It was totally worth the 2 hr drive north to pick this beauty up yesterday. Len was really on top of it as a salesperson. I bought a certified used BMW 528XI back in April 2016 from BMW Silver Spring. I thought buying a certified car would bring peace of mind and didnt worry of paying that extra money for a certified car. 2 months into the car, recently went for glass tinting and the auto specialist informed me that the entire back side of the car is re-painted. Additionally, the car had two color tones. I rechecked carfax and it says no accidents but I still think this car must have had an accident or else why would you need an entire back of the car with two paint tones. Giving two Stars as BMW of Silver Spring re-painted the car but going forward would not trust BMW certification, as this is just a marketing gimmick. If a double tone car can be certified by them, I wonder what kind of quality standards are part of this certification. read more

So let's begin I called yesterday had appointment set up for today went in met with my advisor who's name is Chase king a very nice person wonderful guy knowledgeable of the product, if you've read a lot of reviews about certain dealerships you'll see that they're not rated very high I myself I like to take my cars to places where people respect the car and treat it as if it's theirs provided they take care of their own car some people don't, so they treat yours the way they treat theirs, in any event they were very nice from the beginning I'm concerned about damages to the vehicle as it is brand new and it has no damage a lot of times you go to these places and they'll scratch damage ding and they say hey it was like that when you showed up so I asked them do they inspect the vehicle before they take it in he says yes, I said do you want to go out and look with me and inspect they do walk out with you and they take pictures and video of the entire car wheels and everything which I think is a wonderful thing more places should be more transparent that way, so this car was purchased from out of state dealership. and if you have bought cars from other places when you go to other dealerships the first thing ask you did you buy it here a lot of times they try not to really go to extra mile to help you because you didn't buy from them, yes they will warrantee the stuff that is warranty but they generally won't go to extra mile. however in my case I have a leaking tail light which was broken on the bottom nothing that anybody could see, meaning that when the temperature changes outside within the light condensate water fills inside the light, so they took the car in took the light apart and show me where it was chipped at the bottom from someone removing the light and causing the damage which would not be covered by the warranty from the factory totally understandable it's not a defect of the manufacture they told me how much it would cost to repair and I'm currently in contact with the dealership where I purchased the vehicle to see if we can work out some kind of agreement to resolve the issue, nothing to do with bmw Of Silver Spring they also did not charge for the service even though I was willing to pay for the service because nothing is free and I understand that in this part of life but it was a very nice gesture on their part even those 15 minutes of looking at it moving it somebody still did something it still requires payment I have no problem with paying for whatever I am having taken care of so with that said hats off to them for that nice gesture and as I told Mr. King he definitely has a customer for life because I like their facility it is very clean outstanding when you go to clean shop it shows that people actually care I will definitely be bringing the car in for needed services or repairs to this location even though it's 22 miles away from my home well worth the trip to me thanks to the staff of Bmw Of Silver Spring great job. read more

I can't believe I waited almost 2 years to write this review... The review is for their new car sales... Well, I was looking for a new car. I knew what I wanted, with specific options and color... To get a good deal, I went to BMW website, entered my zip code, the car I wanted, and all the options, etc. & within 24 hours, I had email quotes from 10+ dealers in the area. BMW of silver spring was not the closest one, but their dealer, Michael K, offered the best deal. In writing including the cars VIN. So, I called him. confirmed the deal, made an appointment for the same day, left work 2 hours early just because they are not open late, went through the 495 rush hour traffic, but when I made it to the store, and got the old bait-and-switch!!!! quoting the exact words "Ma'm, unfortunately, my manager said the price I quoted you is below our cost, but I can still give you the BEST deal on another car!!!!... blah blah blah!" Well, obviously at that point I didn't feel comfortable to deal with such dealership... So they just wasted my entire evening! I ended up getting a better deal, and 5 star customer service at Russell BMW. (yes, it was def. worth driving from DC to Baltimore!) read more

So we visited this dealership on 4/9/16. I wrote my initial review the next day. On Monday, 4/11/16, I receive a call from Elon (spelling?), a gentleman claiming to be the general manager of the dealership. He had seen my review and reached out to discuss our experience. To be honest, I had wanted to speak to a manager that day, but after the last test drive, being approached because someone else wanted to buy that base model we had just driven, and finding out the price of the base model was the same as the price advertised for the same car with all the bells and whistles (same year, model and similar mileage), the anger my husband and I both felt for what we considered to be a "bait and switch" tactic would not have resulted in a productive discussion. Sometimes you just need to walk away. However, I can appreciate someone making the effort to remedy what was truly a very bad experience so I did appreciate the reach out from Elon. To be fair, the dealership experienced an internet outage that day due to a nearby accident. What that didn't excuse is the salesperson twice calling that morning and promising the car would be ready for us to drive when he knew full well we were driving from Chantilly. I thought quite a bit about leaving this second review, but Yelp is a forum to recount your experience so I will do just that. Elon and I spoke for awhile and he asked me if I would consider giving the dealership a second chance. I was honest and said I would be hard pressed to make the long drive out again at which point he offered to bring a car to me or meet somewhere mutually convenient. I was extremely surprised at the offer especially since Elon seemed sincere and at that point decided to give them a second chance since they seemed so willing to make things right. Elon and I talked about what we were looking for and what price point. After researching online, I knew what I was asking for was pretty fair. He promised to keep in touch and told me I would hear from him soon. Here it is 4/26/16, a full two weeks later and I have heard nothing. Not one phone call, follow-up or even a voice mail. Am I surprised? Actually yes. I thought a general manager would want to exhibit better customer service to a potential client. My mistake. I am no expert on car sales, but I do work in a customer service industry. If you make a promise to a client, keep it or don't bother to make a promise in the first place. read more

After thinking a bit, I decided to return my leased BMW 228ix. Came in on June 4th to do so. As I was greeted by a lady I right way told her I was there to terminate my lease. She mentioned she was going to get one of the managers for me. A gentlemen approached me and said "Do you have your keys?" There was no greeting or introduction by this so called Manager. I gave him my key and spare key. He left with both keys and I guessed he went to get the leased car. In the meantime I was wondering if he knew which BMW was mine since there were no other questions besides asking if I had the keys. He came back 5 min later and asked me " Where is the car?" I Responded "It's by the service department door BMW 228ix white." While waiting I decided to get some coffee. As I saw him sitting at the waiting area while I was getting my coffee, I approached him to see what was going on. He saw me and pointing to an Ipad he immediately said "Sign here!" I asked "What am I signing?" He said it was just a contract termination saying that I am returning the car. I said "Okay! Can I read the contract?" Then he continued "Oh, also you are paying $350 for returning it and you still have to make the remaining payments." I asked him why do I have to pay if I'm returning it. He said "Well you are not leasing another and not buying it either". I said to him "Well first of all I don't even know your name." Then he said, my name is "Michael Bolger Sales Manager". So I said "You never offered me to buy or get another lease." He said "Now it is too late because you already signed the lease termination." I cannot believe that the BMW Ultimate Machine Car doesn't have ultimate customer service or are willing to keep their existing client to grow their business. This is not only unacceptable for such a big name as BMW but it is even worse if it comes from the Sales Manager from a BMW car dealer. Having a client, who has never missed a single payment or has ever paid late, sign a termination lease at the lobby waiting area should never happen. The lack of building customer relationship and professionalism at this location is amazingly sad and very discouraging to ever even think about stepping my foot there again. I'm confident that I made the right decision by returning the car and leasing with a competitor and I sure will never come back or recommend BMW to my friends or family. read more

I went to BMW of Silver spring to just get some info about X3 and 3 Series. Mr. "Ron Askew" was my adviser and with his help I did received all the information I needed for my next step for looking into a BMW. Next you know , I was getting comfortable and our conversation leads to maybe buying a car today! So with his charm and his kindness I chose the X3 2019 and next you know I couldn't resist his offer. I almost missed this experience as I was on my way to another BMW dealership and received a phone call from Mr. Ron Askew, a sales consultant from BMW Silver Spring. He simply ask to please stop by before going to my appointment with the other dealership and that I will not be disappointed. My wife and I decided to stop by and talk with Ron. We were immediately impressed by his professionalism and knowledge about the vehicle we were interested in purchasing. Long story short, this was the best experience I've ever had in purchasing a vehicle. This is a first class dealership all the way around. I, too, made an appointment here for replacement of a recalled airbag. I told them the reason for the appointment when I scheduled it, and again told my service advisor Bill C. when I brought the car in. Mid-afternoon, Bill called to advise me that airbags are stock items and had to be special ordered. They just realized this? 42,000 BMWs were recalled for this specific problem - I clearly was not their first customer affected by this recall (see negative review below)- and they don't know that air bags have to be special ordered? This certainly made me question their competence. Bill promised to "make it right" by having my car detailed when I brought it back for the replacement. They called the following week to advise that the part was in, and I scheduled the service. After a 20 (!) minute wait for the valet to retrieve my car, I saw that the car was *not* detailed as promised. When I got in the car, I saw that the clock (which had worked that morning when I brought it in) was not functioning and the airbag's dashboard warning light was on. I immediately went back into the service center but, gosh darn it, there were no service advisors to help me. The staff suggested that I make yet *another* appointment to fix these problems. THEY create the problem and then expect me to make a THIRD appointment to fix it?!? Alas, BMW corporate headquarters tells me that, since each dealership is individually-owned, I have to work with them to get the clock/warning light matter resolved. Any other BMW dealer will charge me, and the corporate office has no authority to override this. They also quoted me upwards of $1700 for unrelated work they claim needs to be done on my car (which is running beautifully and without any signs of problem). Curious to hear what my honest & knowledgeable mechanic will say when I bring the car to him with their recommendations. Shout out to the Metro shuttle driver, Antwan. He's polite, helpful and was on-time - a real gentleman. He was the only positive part of this experience. read more

We bought an i3 from this dealership late last year and have had nothing but a horrific experience. We have had major problems with the car itself and as well as the customer service of the dealership. They make promises and guarantees that they do not stand by.
