Purchased a battery on Easter Sunday and I'm here to return the old one for my $22 credit. I'm also tired of driving it around in the back trunk. Horrible customer service! Bought a battery for a car with a BAD battery 7/3. There was "nobody working who could install it", told to return 7/4. Nobody there again who could do it. This is part of the battery purchase!!! And battery was $235. Go to a dealer instead. Better service and prices!!!!! Update: after installing the battery myself, I was stranded and had to be jump started THREE times in under 16 hours. I took the car to a mechanic ($400 later) to find out that the "brand new" battery is actually TWO YEARS OLD! We'll be coming in for a refund. read more

No problems here, needed a rear windshield wiper for my boo Alexa. Found what I was looking for in the big windshield wiper book, and the sales associate double checked it in the computer. All was right. He rang me up pretty quickly and changed it out. This process took all of 15 minutes if that. My only gripe if I must have one is that this place is hella busy! There were maybe three staff for the store and I swear they were all pulled in different directions. Despite that, they still helped me out in a jif, and I was able to make it to HH on time. I am very disappointed in customer service. While I was next in line, the representative assisted two men who were after me in line and completely ignored the fact that I was next. The staff is knowledgeable; but like many other auto-parts retailers, Autozone simply cannot match prices with Amazon and other online retailers. Still, the staff here will help you get what you need in a timely fashion. The fact that they'll install your wiper blades is nice, even if it is just as easy to do on your own. read more

I wished I had taken the time to review this particular AutoZone before spending my money there yesterday. I see they have an aversion to installing batteries and to customer service. My battery was extremely weak and I needed to replace it fast as I travel from DC to Laurel each day. I'm sure to have "dodged a bullet" earlier by leaving the house too late to stop at the AutoZone on Georgia Avenue in DC. It seems the DC shop wanted to charge me $18 extra for keeping the old battery when in fact, it's the opposite as I understand it. Anyway, after leaving work I noticed the car hesitant to start so I thought it best to just get the battery replaced without delay. I searched for AutoZone shops in the area and called the one nearest my work location. A red flag for me should have been the guy I spoke to over the phone, he seemed distracted by either a misbehaving dog or child or something but could not focus long enough to answer my questions. Never the less I found the shop, went in and made the purchase. The young man who waited on me seem to motion that I take the battery. Being a middle aged woman, I was not about to try and hold a battery so I looked at him and ask that he place it on the counter. You would have thought I said something about his character as he gave one of the most threatening looks such that if his eyes were daggers... After the purchase he immediately stated that it was raining too much outside to replace the battery and that I had to wait until the rain stopped. I was surprised because by that time it was just drizzling. When I questioned his statement he immediately said to me that replacing the battery is a free service and that I will have to wait. I retorted and told him all the AutoZone shops provide that "service". He ignored me and motioned for the next customer. I then appealed to an older guy behind the counter who wore a gray shirt as opposed to the red one that the others were wearing. After they communicated in Spanish, the older man sided with the staff person and told me to wait and if the rain did not stop before closing I would have to return the next day to have my battery installed (it was only about 5:30pm and they close at 10pm). We went back and forth and I told him I want a refund if they do not replace today and that I would not wait several hours for the weather to completely change. After his mansplaining a bit more, I reluctantly agreed to wait a few minutes and went to my car which was visible from inside the store. After about ten minutes a customer who heard the exchange came out and informed me that another staff member had replaced a battery a few minutes before I arrived when the rain was much heavier. Earlier, as I sat in my car before entering the store, I recalled seeing that staff member wearing plastic over himself as he entered the store. I returned into the store and asked to speak with a manager, turns out to be the man in the gray shirt. By this time my patience was wearing thin and I informed him that another staff had only just replaced someone's battery before I entered the store. I then rhetorically asked the manager about the young man if "the little boy was afraid that a few drops of rain might melt him or something". At this point the young man said something in Spanish and began to walk away, which then drew the ire of the manager who berated him in English about his attitude and lack of customer service. I then told the manager I did not want that young man to provide any further service to me but I wanted my battery changed without further delay. He then turned to a young female employee and ordered her to make the replacement, which she promptly and competently accomplished. I would NOT advise anyone to expect any type of decent customer service at this particular AutoZone nor will I ever go there again. read more

So my husband and I just got an online order from Auto Zone ($400+) for a break job and to complete the tools we needed for the job we came here. We have been customers for 10 plus years, but just moved in the area and this was the closest store. We went in at 8pm today and the first thing we noticed was that the lights were half off so the place wasn't well lit, went in there and saw an unattended child on top the counter (putting sale items in his mouth) which seemed odd in a place like this, and Vanessa which was the employee claiming that that was her child to another customer, well we went to get a floor jack with 3t capacity which weighs 80lb, which was marcked down to $109 so my husband took it to the counter for when we check out, we had other things to get. At that time we asked a guy if he was working because he was on the computer and he said no(also odd), and didn't get the help we needed so we found the items our selves. We went to check out and there were only the child and the guy that didn't help us behind the counter, eventually Vanessa came to the register to check us out. She needed my husband to put the jack on her counter to ring it up and he asked if there was something to put it on to take it to her, she comes back with a ragety wheeled table that I had to hold steady for my husband to place the jack on. Since the floor jack did not ring up as 109 and 140 instead we let her know it was not the right price, we went to check and we come to find out that the price was marked wrong so I asked her where is the jack that costs that much? She went to check and they didn't have it so we told her that we didn't want it anymore because the price was wrong and didn't want to pay that, you would think the story would be over but nope. She told my husband to "go put it back!" "If you're not going to take it put it back!" . Well my husband has a knee injury and I told him not to, knowing that this could hurt him since he already carried it twice. I seriously thought that to work there you would A) be able to carry that weight B) have other employees do it or C)have something to help her carry it. But we refused to put it back because as paying loyal customers we are not responsible for restocking heavy items back which is a liability to the store, we don't work there. Things escalated quickly, the African American guy that we thought worked there (that was on a company computer) was actually her husband, he got all on my husband's face barricading him from leaving he yelled at him saying "you're not leaving until you put that back!" We refused and were trying to leave and he wouldn't let my husband leave, he confirmed that Vanessa was his "wife" and that he won't let him do that to his wife, he got so hostile and started cussing at my husband and my husband recorded the incident towards the end, then using derogatory language and asking my husband "where do you work?" And "You're so short that's why you can't even put that back!". We felt very threatened and feared for our lives because we didn't know who he was, what he was doing there and why he was stopping us from leaving when he doesn't work there. When my husband and I finally made it to the door he was telling him "never come back!" "Get the f**k out out here, I don't work here so I will beat your a**" he then shoved my husband and I yelled "don't touch him!" And I stopped my husband before he went in on him. Then when we were trying to make it to the car he made a remark that we drive a Toyota. We finally were able to leave. I felt so threatened and was going to call the cops but since we have been customers for so long I decided to write here and take Vanessa' s suggestion "call corporate I don't care!" And I will do so ASAP. In my years of working in management I have never seen such a thing where an employee has her family behind the counter, and as an IT profecional it concerns me that someone that doesn't work there can access the computer system with so much information that can result in a security threat company wide. Not to mention hostility and dangers to customers. We were just about to drop another $200 total and they made this bigger than it had to be. I do not recommend this place, your safety is at risk, your private information is at risk, and the customer service is mediocre to say the least. I will talk to corporate and give them a more detailed account and speak with her manager and the area manager if I need to. This is rediculous and this disgusting behavior is unacceptable. This auto zone will never get a cent from me. Came out of work one day and my truck wouldn't start- dead battery. Got a jump and drove STRAIGHT to AutoZone. My husband told me that they would take out the old battery and install the new one for me, since I'm too short to lift the heavy battery out of my truck. Went in, explained what I needed and that I needed help with getting the old battery out and the new one in. The guy behind the counter looked at me like I was crazy and sad that they couldn't do that because it was raining (it was only sprinkling). I explained that I couldn't to it myself, and that my truck was not going to start again without a jump off or a new battery. The guy just shrugged at me. I asked if someone could jump me off...again, "No, because it is raining." Seriously? A few sprinkles are going to hurt you? So, I had to wait around in the parking lot begging folks to jump me off before I could leave. Got a jump, went to Advance, and they were happy to sell me a new battery and switch it out. Surprisingly, no one at Advance melted in the rain. read more

I went to Auto Zone in Laurel, Md on 2nd Street to pick up rear windshield wipers that was ordered October 19 which I never received a call for pick up as I was told I would. An older African American gentleman believed to be the manager was so rude. I am trying to ask him a question about the blades and he is going to tell me "come on I have other people in line." if this man does not like his job he needs to quit, retire or stay home and sit in his rocking chair. Okay I have to give them 5 stars because the service was impeccable. I was looking for a brake light for one that had blown out... The parts associate took my car's make/model, gave me the light and came outside and installed them for me without asking. I also got a brand new set of windshield wipers and he installed them too. I've never had any issues with the auto zone staff until today. After standing outside to wait for the store to open: Kenneth (manager) opens the door a little after 730am. I kindly ask him if he could run the report on why my check engine light is on while he's setting up the trash cans, outside. He proceeds to tell me they're unable to do it when they're at the store alone, understood we all have policy's. BUT given that I've had this done several times before- and there was not a soul in the parking lot as he stands OUTSIDE of the store he could have definitely offered a better solution. Customer service should always be the highlight of any operation. Turning a customer away due to your lack of staffing is not the customers problem- if there is a policy in place then the staffing should always match the need of the customers. The parking lot of the store was extremely visible and my car was not only parked at the door but again the only vehicle in the parking lot. read more

I don't write reviews but this was the WORST car experience of my life. Two employees Nick and Jessy where awesome and thanks for your help but not even their good deeds could cover for the overall lack of care and attention I dealt with at this store. I'm writing this review from their parking lot on Monday in my dead car due to overall negligent and lack of customer care. My battery light came on Saturday so I came by to get it checked. The young lady who did the check told me my battery wasn't taking a charge. Then proceeded to walk in the store, walkout right past me get in her vechile and leave. Mind you I was asking her who was going to follow up the whole time she walked past me. Nick after hearing my situation came and helped for literally hours and at the end of the day gave me a new battery and alternator. After the instillation of both, the battery light still came on. I returned Sunday to get it Check and the employee at the time did another battery test said the battery was charged but he couldn't do an alternator check. I told the employee that the battery was new and of course it be charged I got it from your store yesterday. He then walked inside and only talked about how he was going to clock out in a few AND NEVER followed up. My car died on Sunday a few minutes dropping off my daughter and heading out to get food. I had to get the car towed back to the location where Jessy and his coworker at the time determined the altneator was dead. MIND YOU THIS WAS A NEW ONE I bought from them the day before amongst 2 battery's as well. It's Monday morning I explain to the manger the situation and he tells me all they can do is exchange the parts and have no ways to cover the labor, time and lost of wages im dealing with because of the fall through from his store. No I'm waiting for a new battery and altenator and have to get it installed on my dime. Extreme lack of customer care from this store and a few of its employees could have gotten myself and family in a serious wreck or accident. If this is a probably beyond your scope say that when I first showed up and I would have moved on. Giving me defected parts and not caring enough to do the work on your end is not ok and never should be. read more

Everything is just like any other autozone in any neighborhood. The service there sucks!!!!! If there are six people working there, one might be helping checking parts on the computer with one customer, cool. Two in the back talking on the phone, one probably on break, and the rest outside, talking to their "homies". Three to six people in the check out line ready to purchase but have to wait at least five to ten minutes. If they do come out to help you because that one person at the parts station "feels the pressure" and calls for assistance, they give you attitude for checking you out. I try to avoid this place in Laurel. Only go the one near my work or advance auto in Laurel rt1, ft Meade rd, or in Columbia. Beware of waiting in line to spend your money!!! read more

Worst service ever, I went in on January 11,2015 to do a battery test on my vehicle and if it was bad have it replaced...what one of the employes told me (that was just standing behind the counter doing nothing) that they were only 2 people and I had to wait for another employee to come in around 5pm. I looked at my watch and said that I have to wait for 1 hour and that there was 4 of you not only 2...I looked around and they only had 2 customers still waiting in line with only one rigester open. I said this is the worst autozone I've ever been and walked out and went to pepboys on laurel Bowie rd that was 4 minutes away....if I could give a half star they would get it...no more autozone for me I'll gladly spend my money somewhere else. read more

My car battery had been dying semi-frequently and seeing as how I need to get to and from work every day, I decided to finally get it checked! AutoZone does it for free which is cool. I went in and asked and I was helped right away by a nice guy who checked the battery, let me know it was bad (had a dead cell in it) and printed me out prices for a new one. I bought the new one right then and there and had it installed which took about another 10 mins. Total probably less than 20 mins to have it all done. Great service. Not sure of their prices on regular auto supplies but it's definitely worth the *free* battery check! read more

I just had the most wild experience ever when getting my car battery from this place. First the lines were long and I had to get out of line twice to figure out if my car was a 1.6 or 1.8 whatever, and when I came back in both times I had to get back at the end of the line. That aggravated me but I understood. However, when it came time to switch my battery for me, I couldn't believe the hour I spent watching the lack of professionalism Of so many of their employees. 1. The young lady who works there that was supposed to switch the battery for me kept saying how she wasn't really good at it and she didn't want to f*ck it up. So she employed the help of a man who it appeared worked there but was not working in the clock currently. Once she asked him a few things she then said I will be back in a second, and left never to be seen again (except briefly when she couldn't find her cell phone and another co worker had picked it up and was holding it for her). Then another different man who appeared to be at the end of his shift came To chat with the (off the clock) co worker who was replacing the battery. Now what he did next was very sad to see. An older lady was in the parking lot and could not carry her old parts in the store, so she called over and asked if she could help him. His response was just looking around, and then apparently he told her that he couldn't help her because he did not want them to know he was still there, and walked off. Well not off, but where he was hiding behind my car in the parking lot on his phone. I saw it happened so asked the lady if I could help her and she seemed just as dismayed as I was by his performance. The man with Africa on his chain, was very helpful and costumer focused. As for the young lady never to be seen again, or the dark skinny man with an accent. Unhelpful, stay away if you have any opinion of work ethic. I walked into the store for a free check engine light service, as i waited in this long ass line, the store manager marcus (as it read on his badge) literally told a customer that he was assisting "i hate people!!" The customer replied back to him "well you're obviously in the wrong business" and he walked away, and to make things worse a lady that works in the back (looks middle eastern) came to the front and called him by his name MARCUS!! He replied "WHAT BITCH" uuuhh she didn't say anything but she smiled and continued with her question... i felt so disgusted and disrespected for her, i swear if she was my wife or my sister that asinine jerk wouldnt live it down, he seriously would've gotten a well deserved beat down and several teeth missing! I am disappointed because I stopped in to laurel autozone and I requested customer service from Mr. Luis because he was knowledgeable about Mercedes Benz and helped me solve several issues in the past but I was informed that he no longer works with the company I was told he got FIRED FOR HIS OWN STUPIDITY (actual words from employee) then I felt like he gave me an attitude because I requested someone else's service, it's terrible that management allows this kind of behavior, especially with the use of profanity in front of the customers. Regardless I proceeded to ask the other associate about my car problems and I could tell that they either did not know or were willing to help me. I will no longer be coming to this location I would gladly take my money and my vehicle else where. read more
