From the start, the experience was awful. They overcharged us, sent an invoice with inflated costs, and then demanded immediate payment--all while we were just trying to deal with the disaster. The most frustrating part? Zero empathy. You'd think a company that works in disaster remediation would understand the stress, confusion, and emotion that comes with losing your home. I hired Blackmon Mooring to replace flooring in a rental property. I cannot in good faith recommend Blackmon Mooring and would never, ever hire the company again because of the poor work done by their unresponsive subs. Due to a lack of communication on their part, I was forced to purchase much expensive flooring than I anticipated. It could have been easily avoided if they had communicated in a timely manner. Their flooring crew refused to wear masks while working (the work was done at a time when wearing masks was mandatory). They installed flooring without transition strips or shoe molding. Blackman Mooring plumbers damaged and incorrectly installed the brand new drip pan of the water heater and caused a massive flood. My tenants had to endure incredibly noisy drying equipment for 3 nights and had to take time off work to deal with this. Blackmon Mooring refused to offer any compensation to my tenants for the inconvenience that was caused by their incompetent and unprofessional subs. In addition to the inconvenience to my tenants, this debacle has cost me and my admin staff significant time as dozens of hours were wasted diligently troubleshooting all these issues with the tenants. Furthermore, I was forced to give my tenants a rent reduction month after month to compensate them for this miserable experience for issues that were not my fault nor under my control. Blackmon Mooring is comprised of liars and attempted thieves. They do not care about the quality of work and will try to double charge you to fix their mistakes. Of the 2 toilets they had to install, both were installed incorrectly and one flooded my master bedroom. They lied and attempted to gaslight me for almost 2 years to "complete" 10 months of work. For example, Kent Cole, the first project manager, tried to tell me people were working on the house while I stood inside the empty house. Then he told me he sent them home early that day. Shane Walls tried to convince me that my attic did not need insulation because he said it was "up to code and within the scope of work." Killeen Code Enforcement laughed and showed me the permit saying the attic would be insulated to R38. So, they attempted to charge my insurance company for a service they had no intention of completing (insurance fraud). Their construction manager, Daniel Lopez, does nothing to control his employees and just takes their word for the status of the project despite my repeated issues with the terrible quality of work. I wound up with Blackmon Mooring when USAA sent them in an emergency where two trees had fallen on my house. I had actually just had that roof installed roughly two years before by Austin Roofing and Construction. My initial installation with the company I'd picked, which included a patio extension, took something like a week from the time the work started. My repair with Blackmon Mooring started quickly, but ultimately dragged for the next two months, and finally ended in me getting other help after finding myself left without heat, and it seems pretty likely that I've been getting carbon monoxide poisoning for a while now. And here I'd thought I was getting so many headaches from the stress of working with Blackmon Mooring for so long. For the last two months I've hardly been able to get anything done. I have been scheduled, rescheduled, expected to drop everything I was doing at a moment's notice, and straight up lied to, that's been with both of the project managers I wound up working with. And all that time, over a month it took, to get anyone in the attic to check the damage. I even had a 2nd project manager come over at one point specifically to check the interior damage, came when I was really not wanting people in my house but there was no other option, and then decided not to go up in the attic after she got here. And there was damage up there, dangerous damage. The roofwork itself was solid, and about the only time I ever got straight answers or saw action taken was when dealing directly with the subcontractor, Quick Roofing. I don't know whether the supposed hvac guys who came over to tape the broken pipe in my attic were from Quick Roofing, or or Blackmon Mooring directly, or just two guys in a van. I was told by the Blackmon project manager that they were hvac. I was told that taping the broken pipe was the right solution. I was then hounded to sign paperwork saying that everything was done, faster than anyone bothered to get the paperwork to me to sign in the first place. And I'd been feeling run down, and irritable, and just exasperated with this company at that point. I was getting these lousy headaches, feeling nauseous at times. All of those are symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning. Since that freezing night over here earlier this week, and getting a real hvac professional over who explained that not only was taping that broken pipe a very temporary fix, but that the whole pipe was out of place which was keeping the hot air from being able to flow through the system, that one of the fundamental principles in hvac work is that hot air rises, and my exhaust pipe had been shoved down in that initial tree impact, back in September, it's been better. I haven't had so much as a trace of a headache. And when that last project manager started giving me the run around again about getting the new vent resealed before the open gaps allowed rain or rodents into the attic, I called the original roof installers to help me. And they did. And thank goodness I called them, because it rained this morning, and I would have had water in my attic waiting on Blackmon Mooring to come do anything about it. But bigger than that is thank goodness I got my own hvac person out before me or my dog was killed by carbon monoxide poisoning, or before my house could catch fire from the shoddy tape job they did up there. read more

It was agreed that they would compensate us $250 (a small amount) to try and cover their damage. We would handle the repair. It has been nearly 4 months, dozens of calls, claims that they are reissuing the check and still nothing. Since my last review Blackmon Mooring contacted me to try and resolve my complaints. I appreciate the effort, but similar issues persisted: Made an appt for them to come out and redo one of the duct lines for a Friday at noon. The same team texted me on Wednesday to come out at noon that day, then showed up at 11.00 a on Thurs, then texted me to come out at 11.00 on Friday. I refused all the appts earlier than the one I'd scheduled. I don't know why they think their customers are on call for their convenience. I asked their manager why they have so much difficulty with their scheduling and didn't get an explanation beyond, "sometimes that happens." Friday at noon the guys arrived and cleaned again the one line from the A/C unit, taking pictures, then announced they were done. I asked them about cleaning that line from the air vent since it's a long line, and they somewhat grudgingly agreed to do it, again taking pictures and announcing when they were done. I'm still having trouble with *something* coming out of that ductwork, but finally decided to put a diverter on the vent to keep whatever it is out of my face when I sleep. I spoke with their manager and he asked to come out to review their work on August 11th. He didn't show. To top it off, when I recently replaced one of my 3 month air filters I found they'd installed it reversed so the airflow arrow was facing to the room, effectively dumping all the dust that was on the air filter previous to their work back into the ductwork they cleaned. My roof was replaced by Blackmon Mooring (BM) and I had an awful experience. The roof started to leak after several years and I was still within my warranted period. Tom. S (sales tech) came to my house to asses the problem and blamed the leak on the flashing material which he claimed that BM does not grantee this work. It is the responsibility of the customer to insure that the flashing is properly installed. I placed a complaint with BM and was completely ignored. 2 Workers showed up on time and after checking out the apt layout and air vent placements they got right to work. Covered everything in 6 rooms + 2 Baths w/plastic. Were here several hours. I wasn't exactly wowed by the solutions I was getting... a box fan would have been just as good for my little place... but whatever. They were providing expertise. When the place was bone dry, I called to return the fan. For logistical reasons, I wasn't able to return it, but my liason said that he wouldn't charge me for the extra day. Of course, they charged me for the extra day. I called the liason and he didn't return my calls. So I called and asked for a manager. I explained the situation calmly and logically to the manager. He said he'd investigate and get back with me. Nothing. I called and left a message for the manager. Then another. Nothing. This, in my opinion, is the rankest bullsh*t. I'm polite; I don't unload on people. If I'm giving a company every opportunity to make right or even to say, "Sorry, we can't help you," I expect them to take it. In November of 2010, I was nearly killed in an explosion that destroyed the kitchen in my home and resulted in the amputation of both of my hands. My homeowners insurance contracted Blackmon Mooring Steamatic of Austin (BMS) to handle the cleanup and bioremediation of all blood and tissue contaminated surfaces in the house while I spent more than a month in hospital recovering from my horrific injuries. By law, no other persons had been allowed into the house until BMS finished their biohazard cleanup, rendering the site safe for the remodeling contractors to follow. Not even my wife was allowed to enter the house during the cleanup phase. When the cleanup was finished, but before allowing any other contractors on site, my wife conducted a walk-through inspection of their work, . It was at this time that she discovered that two large chests of antique silverware that BMS had removed from the kitchen pantry were missing and unaccounted for in their paperwork. These weren't just your everyday silver sets. One had been given to us on our wedding day nearly forty years ago and the other had been handed down to us by my great aunt and dated back to the mid nineteenth century. They were worth several thousand dollars in silver value, but they were priceless to us. When informed of our loss on their watch, the BMS liason was at first hesitant to return our calls. When we left messages that we intended to file a police report, we received possibly the most ridiculous response in the history of ridiculous responses. Blackmon Mooring's official position regarding the theft? Yes, they did thoroughly clean up the kitchen and they did clean out each and every drawer and cabinet in the kitchen, BUT WE DID NOT CLEAN OUT THE PANTRY. Excuse me? They were tasked with cleaning out and discarding all food items in the kitchen, especially those in the pantry, which happens to be in the middle of the kitchen. Somebody cleaned out the pantry and walked off with two chests of irreplaceable family silver and they did it during the time that BMS and only BMS had access to the house. After some haggling, BMS grudgingly provided a list of the employees who were in our home, which we promptly turned over to the Austin Police Department. The detective informed us that other than checking the names for prior criminal activity, nothing else could be done without probable cause. He suggested that we contact our insurance company and just accept the loss. We depended on Blackmon Mooring Steamatic to help us get through a very difficult situation in our lives, never dreaming that doing so would result in the theft of precious family heirlooms. BMS has never acknowledged one scintilla of responsibility for the felonies committed by someone on their payroll. I can only hope that there's a special corner of hell reserved for those who would steal from a person fighting for their life in the ICU. i ended up losing my hands and hearing in November of 2010 and the last thing I needed to deal with at that time was a thief in my own home. You can't imagine how violated we feel over this incident and the lack of concern expressed by the company. Time has not made the funk go away, it just festers. Last October, I called Blackmon Mooring because a shower leak they had previously fixed as part of an insurance claim started to leak again. After two months of back and forth with Clint Blassingame, attempts to state that it was a sub-contractor, and other excuses, they eventually admitted they were, in fact, culpable, and the repair was under warranty. He handed me off to Daniel Lopez, a project manager who believes construction projects cannot have a project plan, his words. By December, mold had started to grow on the walls; Daniel, after nine calls, eventually sent out someone to cut a hole in the wall and attempt to caulk over the grout; they didn't treat the mold but added blowers making the family respiratory issues worse, I went and bleached the mold myself. The caulk over the grout didn't fix the problem. I have called and texted Daniel over a dozen times; his team has missed appointments, he has claimed the needed tile doesn't exist. I pulled up Lowes and Home Depot in-stock screenshots; then he claimed he needed several weeks for his supplier; that date came and passed over a month ago. I need the shower fixed. It's been six months, and hopefully, a yelp review get this resolved. We had to have them come out to clean our air conditioning vents that started to smell like mildew. I wasn't home but J said they were "nice enough" and although they attempted to clean up, it still took some sweeping from J and a full vacuum job from me to get up all the bits left behind. Only a slight irritation that they didn't put our child-proof electrical covers back on after using them. They also showed up late, but that was probably a miscommunication from the scheduler. Full disclosure: The work was done at my daughter's home but since I "Helped" to pay, I am writing the review. My daughter noticed , when moving furniture, a difference in the color of the grout on her tile floors. Where there was furniture, the grout was very lightly colored, nearly white. In the rest of her living space, the color varied from dark grey to black. We cleaned a test area (A couple square feet.) and it came out very light. Since there are three rooms with the same tile and grout, we decided to turn to a professional. We called three companies; One was a no show. Another man came out, not on time, looked around and picked a price out of the air. The second guy was not particularly presentable in appearance. A rep from Blackmon showed up on time, took measurements and gave us a written estimate. The Blackmon price was a little higher but the rep inspired more confidence so we went with them. The workers came on time, were very polite and careful with the furniture and did a super job. We felt, at all times, that this was a very professional company and we are satisfied. read more

Fast forward.......We emptied the rooms to be cleaned, took a day off work, and no one ever showed. They did offer a weak apology after the my 4th call to find out where they were and when they'd arrive. I was told they wouldn't be arriving at all and offered a $10 discount for my troubles {insult to injury}, They wanted to reschedule, I told them I had the house torn apart and had out of town guests arriving that night for a two week stay..........They then suggested I call another company. We have been trying to get our leaking roof replaced with this company since March 7, 2019 without any success. This company will not honor their promises to call back or email, so don't waste your time! We were assigned to project coordinator Josh Ward, who came to our property to do the initial assessment of a roof repair & replacement and interior water damage repair on March 7, 2019. Insurance estimated the cost of the job to be around $17,000. He was very professional and kept in good communication with us until we were assigned to a project manager, David Collier. We were told that we needed to pick out our materials, so my husband and I decided we would like to take the opportunity to chip in additional money and upgrade our roof. (We have solar panels and were interested in metal roofing since removing the panels is an additional $5000 charge each time.) We emailed David on 3/19 for guidance and pricing. We were not able to get any information or pricing from David until the beginning of April, at which time he threw out some very large numbers ($24,000 additional out-of-pocket) but couldn't tell us what brand or design of roofing material was involved. [For those unaware, metal roofing can be standing seam, direct-attach metal shingles, or metal shingles that attach with an undersystem called battens, each of which involve different pricing for materials and labor.] When we inquired about the cost of removing/replacing the solar panels, David told us that "it cost what the insurance quoted", which seemed rather blasé and careless with our budget. We confirmed that he was attempting to make extra profit when we found out that the quote from the solar company here in Austin was $1,300 less than the insurance's allowance. A typical 10-15% markup would have been standard, but this would have been over 30% markup. I requested from Josh Ward that we get a new project manager on 4/17 and after some delay was told that I would be put in contact with Ariel Wilson, the head of contracting. He came to our house and met with my husband and I around 4/23 and said he would be happy to get us pricing info for installing a metal roof - Ariel did not call or respond to our communications afterwards. I attempted one last time, on 7/11, to contact BM corporate and was reached out to by the general manager, Robbie Jackson, immediately. He said our project had been marked "Job Not Sold" and abandoned. I then got a call from Ariel Wilson on 7/12 promising that we would be assigned to a new project manager, Baron Vonn, who would be contacting us within a few days. 11 days later, and still no contact from Baron Vonn. Our insurance company hired Blackmon Mooring to handle the "Pack out/Pack in". They took nearly 3 weeks to pack all of the stuff out our 1300 sq. ft house! Those are 3 very long weeks when you are living in a hotel with a very disabled 90-year-old who is in great pain because she doesn't have access to her adjustable bed. Not to mention that NO work can begin until everything is out of the house. When they were done I found that they had punched a large tear in my screen door with what looked like a box that fell or maybe a piece of furniture. They also couldn't figure out the concept of undoing a necklace clasp I guess so they pulled my necklace organizer out of the wall leaving a giant hole in the wall in my closet. Once all of the work was complete and they were to start the "Pack in" process, the truth of their ineptitude was made clear. Piece by piece and box by box the damage to our belongings is shocking! It is like they have absolutely no concept of what or how to pack items or if they do they simply don't care. For instance, it looked as if they had taken and simply held a box at one end of a table and took their arm and swept everything from the surface into the box. Then went to another area and did the same thing into the same box, and for good measure found another area and threw that in there too. I have broken bottles of paint and liquid gold leaf spilled all over broken & crushed artist brushes, scissors punching holes in lotion bottles, etc. But that is just how they pack boxes. My precious antique furniture had absolutely NO protection, and heavy items stacked on top of them. My painted furniture is scratched, chipped, dented and in one case so badly scrapped up that I am going to have to completely repaint the entire bed. My sofa has grease marks on it from who knows what. But by far their worst offense has to be what they did to my extremely expensive mattress that I had specifically asked them about and said how concerned I was about what and how it was going to be stored and treated/packed due to my severe allergies. When it came back to the house it looked as if it had been kept behind the dumpsters and the homeless were allowed to sleep on it. There are deep dark footprints all over it. The back looks as if it had been scrapped across a rough wooden surface, and there is BLOOD on it! As if someone had slept on it and had a bloody nose! The box spring also has tears, footprints, and dirt. My 3-yr-old mattress was in pristine condition and cost $8000! They feel like they only owe me to replace the cover and nothing else. They sent out one of their upper management personnel, Mike Diaz (sp?) I'm not sure how to spell his name because he refused to give me a card when he was running away like a little girl when the conversation got a little difficult, not heated, just difficult. He refused to answer any questions saying that "he wasn't prepared to have that conversation". That was his answer to my question of if this was his mattress what would he expect, and would he want to be sleeping on it in the condition it was returned to me in? He proceeded to tell me that he wasn't prepared to have that kind of conversation and that I was unreasonable. He was running away so fast to his car that he couldn't get away fast enough. This is how they provide customer service! This company took an already stressful situation and made it so much worse. With about 80% of the boxes unpacked and all of the furniture (with the exception of my Grandfather clock that is still at their warehouse) back in the house, I would estimate that they have caused around $11,000 in damage to my property (and counting). Do you want to know the best part? They actually charged my insurance company $34,000.00 to do this job! You read that right $34k for a 1300 square foot house! Unbelievable! read more

I'm on the promotion email distribution list for BM after they did remediation work on a previous home which had flood damage (I was very satisfied there too). I had been contemplating getting my carpets cleaned, and when I realized my new dryer wasn't drying my clothes, I decided to call them out to clean my dryer vent, carpet and air ducts, which had never been cleaned since I moved in 2 years ago. I was able to take advantage of the summer special the email promoted (3 rooms for $119), and they cleaned out a HUGE bird's nest from my vent. They looked at my air ducts and told me there was no need to spend the money to clean them - even showed me a picture. The team who came were very responsible, courteous, and accountable - they had been up until 3 AM working a corporate water spill and still got to my house within the 8-9 am timeframe promised the next morning. While here, they were called back to the business, and asked me if they could come complete my carpet later in the day. That worked for my schedule, and when they came back they did a stellar job - I can't emphasize how friendly and helpful they were. We were referred to them thru our Insurance Company (USAA) for a bathroom remodel after we found water damage. After 5 weeks, we had to cancel the contract and request our deposit back. The project manager was possibly the most unaccountable person i've ever tried to do business with... zero follow up, single word text msg responses "sure" and no real game plan to start or finish our project. Maybe we caught them on a bad day, but I would be Extremely cautious if you were planning to use them for a renovation. get it in writing, get confirmed dates and get multiple people internally involved. They don't talk to each other. The cleaning discovered previously unseen spots and they left them there which made the overall effect unsightly. If you advertise yourself as a "carpet cleaning" company then clean the carpet (which may require more than just moving a machine around). Find a company that will take pride in their work and not just looking for cash. read more

Did you know Blackmon Mooring does remodeling/construction? We found this out the hard way after our insurance company recommended them due to a minor roof repair. Having a reputable name like Blackmon Mooring we decided to also have two patio doors replaced while having the roof repaired. We started this process in July of 2017 and are just now getting it resolved in December 2017. NEVER did I see anything taking six months to fix, but with the lack of communication from the project manager, shoddy workmanship, and overall unprofessional responsibility from this company this is exactly what happened. I'm hoping this post will save someone the future aggravation we went through. read more

DO NOT let your home owners insurance company choose these clowns for you when you're in need of QUALITY and RELIABLE work! They are clearly not skilled enough to be touching anyone's roof! I have many complaints about the measly two times we interacted with this company. Project- Emergency tarping over several holes made by a fallen tree on our roof. They show up, one lead and the other young kid with zero enthusiasm about being there. They "tarp" and before I sign the electronic paper I walk them over to take a look. A CLEAR portion of the damage had not been touched so they went up and tarped that. Okay? Three days later- the huge tarp area had totally flown halfway off so we had to call them out again. One morning the whole household is woken up before 9am with loud bass thumping and shaking our windows- low and behold the guy that came to fix the tarp opened the company van doors towards our house and was blasting loud rap music the entire time he was working! I've attached the video from inside the house as well as outside. Low and behold an ACTUAL roofing company came by today to be completely frustrated with Blackmon's poor excuse for tarping. I'll let the photos & snapshots of his feedback speak for themselves. NO NO NO. Can anyone explain to me how this level of quality work is supposed to keep RAIN from leaking into our roof?? I can't believe our insurance company actually paid anything more than $5.00!! What a total joke. read more

I was a difficult customer but they worked with me and got it perfect "like it never happened" just like their slogan. Their craftsman do a great job and are very skilled and professional. Their packers and movers do an ecellent job as well. I had previously lost an antique ring, and one of the packers found it and brought it to me - it's wonderfult to have such honest workers helping with my home. I was referred to them by my insurance, so I was skeptical at first.. Glad I took the chance and found a good company. read more

Blackmon Mooring replaced my roof in 2015 and gave me a 3 year warranty. My roof leaked at 2.5 years latter due to poor craftsmanship and they claimed that it was my fault for not caulking the flashing. I don't know who gets on their roof and caulks the flashing. Blackmon Morring are criminals. read more

Blackmon Mooring was picked out by my apartment complex to clean the AC. Twice they failed to show up during their designated window but the third time was the charm. I am happy to report we received excellent service from Jay and Jared. After reading a few reviews I had my concerns but we lucked out with who was sent to do the job. Both employees provided us with clear information of what was going on with our AC and had the unit cleaned in no time. read more

I would NOT use this company if my life depended on it again. I am dealing with a fire and smoke damage and they are supposed to be the company to come in and clean everything. Well, they sure did that, and whilst doing so decided to break and damage all of my electronics, except for my TV, luckily. I was pissed. Recommended by USAA to repair water damage. So far, not impressed. Started process with this company about 3 weeks ago and all that has been accomplished is an estimate. Communication is lousy. I have to initiate the conversations to get this process moving and their time estimates are off. I will update this review as we move forward. USAA selected Blackmon Mooring for a hail damage claim which included a roof replacement, broken window repairs, etc. It took Blackmon Mooring over two months to get to the roof repair and it has been three months and they still have not replaced the gutters, broken windows or other repair items from this hail claim. In addition, their roofer broke a pipe cover that has not been fixed in over three weeks. They are very nice when I communicate with them but the time elapsed is very disappointing. read more
