Sammy at Blynx is the only optician I've dealt with who noticed that I needed a frame suitable for a wide nose. As a result, my frame sits in the perfect position in front of my eyes, instead of sitting too high like all the other frames I have bought over many years. He even had a frame that was too wide for my nose, but I chose a nice Boss frame which fits me perfectly. Overall, buying glasses from Blynx was a very good service experience. Sammy is eager to find a frame that is exactly what you need and prefer. I bought Essilor progressive lenses which allow me to read my iPhone clearly, work on my computer, watch TV, or drive, all with perfect resolution and focus. Blynx Optical definitely has an amazing selection of glasses & sunglasses...from the latest Dior sunglasses to the classic Ray Ban collections. Joanne has helped me pick out sunglasses and has billed them directly to my benefits plan provider. She is always on top of the ball calling me for when the glasses are ready to be picked up and etc. She also gives a discount for the sunglasses I've boughten, which was ~30-40% off the tag price (which is marked up quite high). She's very patient, tries to work within my budget, and takes out any glasses I was interested in trying out while giving great recommendations too! If you have a certain model of glasses you want but they don't carry it in-store, they will offer to get it ordered in for you. I'm pretty sure everyone in the store speaks English, Mandarin, and Cantonese very well so they are very easy to communicate with. I dislike having to wear glasses, but the fact is, I don't really have any choice. Last week, just before my birthday, my titanium frame broke. I've been functioning without them since then and the world is much smaller (everything far away is burred). Today, after getting an update on my prescription, I started to shop for frames and lenses. I went to three places and walked away in disgust since they treated me like I didn't deserve to shop in their stores. Blynx was totally different, thankfully. When we walked into the shop, they were friendly and polite. It looks like a family business since they had their chld in the store with them. I like to support the family business, since I know bow bard it can be. They were quick to help us and were able to refine my horrible taste into something great. Actually, with their humour and pleasant atmosphere, they made it enjoyable to shop for glasses. Amazing. Prices were very reasonable. In fact, they were excellent. The crafting of the lenses is done in house, so there are no communication issues with going to an outside shop. Went there on a friend's recommendation. I've been wearing glasses for 20 years now, so I consider myself pretty practiced at the process of acquiring new frames and lenses for a new prescription and quite sensitive to how I'm treated when I do shop for glasses (on average every 2-3 years). Unlike the previous reviewer, I like wearing glasses and definitely prefer them to my contacts. Service by staff at Blynx was helpful, cheery, and they listened well to what I wanted. Blynx was the first of three places I shopped. With my friends' help, I picked out a current, stylish frame. Selection was very good. They were very upfront with me re: cost of lenses and though not advertised, there was a sale on. The frames ended up being 40% off. Now, I find the test of any kind of customer service to be when you let them know that you want to comparison-shop further and will not be buying at this moment. If they treat you well then, then they really DO value their customers. I let the staff at Blynx know that, and what do you know, still cheery and helpful, offering to hold the frames I wanted for me. Consider me impressed at this point. Turns out, Blynx had the best prices of the 3 places I shopped at (all optical stores run by Chinese owners in Richmond). I returned 40 minutes later and ordered. Seeing as I haven't worked with them before, Blynx was very flexible about me putting down a deposit of 50% of the total cost and paying the rest when picking up the finished glasses. When I went to show a friend what the frames looked like online that evening, I found out that Blynx had even better prices than ClearlyContacts.ca. Now that's what I call an achievement. They told me 3 working days, and they were true to their word. Moreover, putting on my new pair of glasses, I didn't have that funny dizzy feeling that I get half the time when updating a prescription. It was great. The overall experience of shopping at Blynx, and learning that the owner does the work himself in-house, made such a positive impression that I will definitely be going back to them. Optical shops (as well as eye doctors, dentists, ETC) are competitive business!! that being said, there are some dishonest or greedy people out there who just want your money. Case in point, i walk in an optical store stating that i wanted to try some of the brand new frames i saw at the display window.... at first they were nice and then as soon as get me to sit down, they try to push the "no name" glasses. Sure - it's higher profit margin for them !! This is NOT true with Blynx Optical. All of their frames are of high quality and there are many styles and brands to choose from. I never get the sense they were pushing to sell me the most $$ pair. I get a strong impression that they want to find me the best looking glasses with in my budget and other requirements. No dirty tactics and no number games. They never rush me through a decision and that's important ! The owners really have an eye to what looks good. Had to get replacement lenses for my frames as my prescription changed. The order whole process was extremely fast and efficient - the super friendly staff there recommended the type of lens for me to get and told me to come back the very next day! This was a pleasant surprise as I don't like to be without my glasses. I have extremely high prescriptions (-10, -9) - so it was $210 for me as I have to get the thinnest lenses possible. However, the price could probably vary to the lower end for people who have normal prescriptions. The staff was honest in telling that me that although there are more expensive options, the $210 option is more than sufficient for me. After I got my glasses, the lenses were perfect. I came from a long way just to Blynx because of all the great reviews on Yelp. I found this store from other Yelper's reviews and phoned Blynx Optical first with several inquiries. They were so professional and polite on the phone, and answered everything. The customer service on the phone and in-person were excellent and made me feel confident to go with them. My inquiries were: 1) Do you do an eye test? Answer: They do a sight test (not a medical eye exam) and it is complimentary if you purchase from there. Bring your old prescription paper if you have one though, I forgot to bring mine, which may or may not be helpful. 2) Do you do prescriptive eye tinting? Answer: Yes, they have a selection of colors - blue, peach, purple, pink, grey, tan etc to choose from. They can also tint in a gradient, or in a solid color and would take up to a week to have it completed. 3) Are you able to replace new lenses into an existing glass frame that I have from another store? It is my favorite and I want to keep using it. Answer: Yes, they can do that and the eye test is still complimentary even if you are not purchasing frames from here but still getting lenses. I decided to visit Blynx, because when I called up 2 other competitors before them, one sounded irritated on the phone from my questions, and the other wasn't able to answer my questions. But the gentleman on the phone at Blynx was patient and answered my inquiries, then invited me in for a visit to give me price quotes and show me several options. Blynx is located inside Yaohan Centre on the 2nd floor near the escalator. When I came in, the owner Sammy and his assistant (name starts with "A") were very helpful. They showed me the eyeglass lens tints and I ended up choosing a peach tint for my prescriptive lenses. They did not pressure me at all with any sales tactics, and were okay with just replacing my current frames with new lenses from their store. They did show me new glasses in case I wanted to change my mind, but they were never pushy about it. Before I came to Blynx, my regular eyeglass store quoted me $100 higher than Blynx Optical for the exact product, and it took my regular eyeglass store 1 month to ship in a tint sample, but they only shipped in 1 color so I had no comparisons or selection. It was so disappointing and I did not want to ask my regular eyeglass store to ship in more colors which would take another 1 - 2 months. Blynx had over 10 colors to choose from immediately at the counter, and I could sample them right away. I am now switching over to Blynx for all my lens and eyeglass purchases. I brought in another pair of old beat-up back-up glasses that had a broken frame hinge (which I only use at home and for sports because I don't want my nice tinted pair to get wrecked). Sammy fixed it for free since it was a quick fix. He also offered new (inexpensive) frame choices for that pair of old broken glasses in case it breaks apart again. Like a previous reviewer wrote, they have ranges of glass frames from inexpensive to beautiful designer wear. read more

I walked in, met Sam and told him what I'm looking for. Sam is super friendly and quick at spotting out frames that would work for me. He selected a few frames that fit my requirements and I was able to settled on the design I liked. I was literally in and out of the shop in 10 minutes! The store may not be as impressive looking as some of the others in Richmond but the owner Sammy Lee is a wonderful man who goes out of his way to find you the very frame you want, suiting not just your taste and face but also your budget - whether it be a 50$ generic one or a 500$ Porsche Design! I phoned before I went to the store and spoke to Sam, he was nice over the phone and said they can do it no problem and just come by. Blynx Optical caught our eye as we were passing through Yaohan Centre and I couldn't help but noticed the amazing amount of different designer frames they had displayed in their window. As we walked in we were greeted with a warm hello and an eagerness to help us with any questions we had about their eye wear. To be truthful we weren't intending to buy anything that day but Sam the owner did his best to let us try on as many frames that we wanted. It was fun just to see all the different looks you can have with the frames. You can tell Sam truly enjoys helping you out to find your "look". Inside their store their selection is incredible! They had so many designs from affordable to super high end frames. We discovered so many cool new fashionable brands that I didn't even know where to start. I myself is an IC Berlin fan and they had all the latest styles when most places don't even carry them. But then Sam introduced me to the new Bugatti designs. I feel in love with sporty simplistic style that I just had to get a pair! Overall it was a great experience. We love Blynx Optical and their selection of gorgeous frames. In the beginning, there was good service, but three weeks after already obtaining the glasses, I realized that the lens scratched very easily. Even though the service was decent, the product is horrible. I went back to Blynx Optical, and instead of greeting us in a friendly way, they were rude and said that I ruined the glasses lens and if I wanted them to fix it, I would have to pay an extra $180 on top of the price that I got the glasses for, which was over $300. I do not recommend this store and you should never trust this place. They deserve negative stars but I had to put at least one star for yelp's requirements. read more

great place- i shopped around quite a bit and blynx gave me best bang for my buck.. i bought a pair of prescription sunglasses that came to approx 700$ ($350 covered by benefits) they have a wide selection compared to other places at richmond centre and robson optical blynx gave great personalized service, gave me a lower price than what what i was quoted at other places and has an eye for detail they also put my purchase through directly on my benefits so it saved me some time from uploading receipts, etc. i will definitely come here again for glasses again this year read more
