All I can say is I am from the New Orleans area, born and raised, and this my fellow Yelpers, is not seafood. Oysters PRE-SHUCKED hours ahead of time and put in the fridge, were dried out looking and had a funny smell. I would not eat one. "Shrimp poboy" as they call it, was nasty. Bread was an Italian style , soft as a hamburger bun, not toasty and crisp like proper French bread should be. Shrimp batter was awful and shrimp tasted fishy....the whole meal was a tragedy. Only thing that went down easy was the bucket of beers. Pass on this one. Skip the seafood in Spring...I have found nowhere worthwhile here. read more

The first time i came to this place was last May when i came to houston for a wedding. I think it was peak time for crawfish season so the crawfish we had that day were HUGE! i mean, gigantic crawfish, crawfish on steroids... the tails were so juicy and the head was so sweet...i really really liked this place. The restaurant looks like an old shack with a covered outdoor patio. Parking is small since this place shares parking with a few other businesses in the plaza. Crawfish can be a very tricky delicacy. You have to catch the perfect time in the season to get really good tasting crawfish. And by that, i mean big juicy sweet crawfish. I mean, im not much of a size person when it comes to crawfish, but it does make a difference. Especially when it comes down to how its made. I will go to more places that make their crawfish with lots of good flavorful seasoning than what size of crawfish they have that day. I dont really care too much for the normal cajun boil. So when i came here today anticipating that it would be like the last experience, i was bummed. I dont know if it was the seasoning this time, or the size of the crawfish, but i just wasnt really feelin it. Maybe ive been spoiled by Boling Crab's seasoning so Blue Water has now fallin down the charts for me. I also think that the last time i was here, since the crawfish at that time were HUGE, the flavor factor didnt bother me since the lil guys were already naturally sweet?! This time, both not flavorful nor big...i could barely get myself to finish my 2nd batch. I sat there and tried to pick out the biggest ones to eat at that point so i could maximize my meal... luckily for me, I also ordered this appetizer called a pistolet...that's probably the reason why im giving this place the third star...so freakin good!...its like a bread roll deep fried with cheese and jalapenos with crawfish tails...anything deep fried is always good, but with the cheese oozing out of it, the kick of the jalapenos and the crawfish tails...one of the best combos ever! If i didnt order the 4lbs of crawfish and made myself finish what was left of it..i think i would've just ordered 4 of the pistolets and made myself a happy customer.... too bad this time wasnt as good as the last...i do hope that if i ever do come back here, that it will be half way decent as i once remembered...that being said, i will prolly only come back here in the month of May =/ read more

The seafood was okay, but it was a little overpriced. You will leave hungry. Also, the crawfish wasn't spicy at all. Save your money.

Good food, not great, but good. Casual atmosphere. Average prices. Service was a little slow.

I've been going to this place for the past twenty years. They have changed a lot over that time (mainly updated the restaurant), which is not a bad thing. They used to have some items on the menu that aren't there anymore, like the stuffed snapper. I wish they would bring that back. I still get the snapper every time I go. The service is always very quick. We will keep coming back. read more

After the debacle of Halloween, 2015, we decided to return to Bluewater. At least this time, we got service. The waiter was nice, polite, and efficient. First thing we noticed was the prices had gone up. Not a problem for us if the food is good. It's not. M. got the catfish platter, grilled and large. The catfish pieces were small and, frankly over salted. M. didn't think the catfish was fresh. I had the snow crab. It was ok but again, I don't think it was fresh. Overall, another disappointing visit. We won't be back again. It's too bad because we really liked Bluewater. It looked like it had changed management. We didn't see people we thought were the owner. read more

I visited Bluewater Seafood for the first time on Monday, Labor Day. The restaurant was decently busy but not packed by any means. My friend and I ordered the Gator as an appetizer, which was pretty good. I asked the server if they could do the snapper panfried, which he answered in the affirmative, so I ordered the snapper. In the meantime I ordered a frozen margarita which was quite enjoyable. However, when the entrees arrived and I tried my meal (snapper), it was extremely bland. I could taste no seasoning or flavor other than the breading. Needless to say, I was very disappointed, especially since such an injustice was done to an otherwise delicious fish. I let my server know and ordered fried shrimp instead, which was okay. The server, who's name escapes me, apologized several times and indicated that they were short staffed. A manager never came to our table either throughout the whole evening. As disappointed as I was, I feel obligated to give at least three stars because the gator and margarita were tasty and the shrimp was acceptable. read more

My favorite place to eat and coming from louisiana that says alot. Food and service is great and not over priced!

The staff were friendly enough, but the food was terrible!!! I had snow crab legs (comes with corn on the cob, potatoes and everything is covered in some sort of cheap cayenne seasoning- including the crab). My boyfriend had boiled shrimp. Neither were very good. The crab was priced fairly, but poor quality and again, covered in cheap seasoning. I wish the menu advertised the copious amounts of seasoning on the crab so I knew to ask that it be left off. (Who does that to snow crab?!) The shrimp were bland and overpriced. I think the corn was microwaved. Long story made short- we will NOT be eating here again. In the future, I will shell out the extra few bucks and Eat at Joe's. read more

My husband and I took family from OK here a week ago for crawfish! It was over the top! We asked for extra spicy... It was and it was fantastic! Our server, Cindy, was the best server I have ever had! I am a senior and we eat out almost everyday! That said, my husband and I went back a week later and had the best crawfish ever! They were huge! We did request Cindy again and I can verify that she is the best server! We have found our crawfish heaven restaurant! read more

My husband and I have been driving by the 2920 location for about four years, and I am embarrassed to say that we haven't stop in until this last weekend. Now I am sad to think of all the oysters and other seafood we COULD have been enjoying so close to our neighborhood. We dined early evening on a Saturday. Restaurant decor is nautical and casual atmosphere. Outside seating is available. We were happy to see that Bluewater was serving raw oysters, as we had just returned from a weekend in Galveston and no oysters being offered by several restaurants! My husband ordered the fried seafood platter - generous serving and all the seafood was cooked to perfection. Kudos to the cooks! I don't eat gluten and am low carb, so ordered a grilled shrimp dinner. Choosing sides that do not have gluten or lots of carbs, i.e., potatoes is sometimes challenging. As my grilled shrimp dinner came with rice, I told the waitress that I couldn't eat it so to keep it off order (which she did). Bluewater offers side salad, or veggie options and potato dishes. I ordered a salad and also the green beans, which I really enjoyed - loved the seasoning on them. I was told that ordering the salad might be an additional charge if I was going to order a veggie also - and not from the potato options/high carb. I really think that is my only negative thing to say about the dining experience. It would be nice if you could pick ANY two sides you want that are being offered with dinner combo. We will for sure be back again to dine at Bluewater 2920 location. So close to home and the food and service were great. Jordan, our waitress, was friendly and did a wonderful job taking care of us. UPDATE - January 2017: We have been to the Spring location at least four more times since our review in October 2016. Each time the food and the waitstaff has been on point and we have yet to have a negative experience. The raw oysters have been EXCELLENT each and every time we visit. Bluewater is now our favorite place for oysters and cocktails. We appreciate the casual and friendly atmosphere that the Spring location offers. Kudos, Bluewater! read more

These folks have the most crabs for the money I've found in Houston. The crab trio is the best: King, Snow and Dungeness that all taste great. The quility is pretty consistent and usually good. Forget Joe's Shack. If you want to stuff your face with crab for a decent price, this is the place! I ask for double Snow and forgo the Dungeness, and they never have a problem with my request. Good staff as well. Just save some for me. read more

Let me start of by saying the was great. High school kids eager to please and were on their toes. However, the crawfish are still very small and they definitely need extra seasoning. We do like them very spicy. Corn and potatoes always seem over cooked, they have not yet perfected boil times for all. I like the convenience of this restaurant however, the smoke coming from the smoking section and the seafood smell is a big turn off. read more

we had eaten there last year before they renovated. Thank God they renovated as I would have never returned....Well let me tell you....This place did a redo right!!! such cute decor and the food was delish!! Will be returning when we want to get our seafood on!! read more

To start, even though the order was taken right it was not right. Our drinks were wrong, our appetizers were wrong, so we were clearly off to a good start. And then I found out the hard way that the fisherman's catch platter contained over cooked tilipia and mass produced prebattered shrimp. Apparently the fisherman had a bad day. Oh and the crab that we'd ordered tasted like it had been boiled in salt brine. The only "good thing" I could say is that they over poured the hell out of my Margarita so It was almost strong enough I couldn't tell the food sucked. read more

We decided to try this restaurant for an early weekday dinner and arrived at 5. We were seated and given menus and quickly made appetizing selections. Then we waited, and waited. Several waitstaff walked by and others were standing around talking to each other. We waited ten more minutes, and left. The hostess wished us a pleasant evening. We told the young man at the hostess stand that no one assisted us. I can't rate the food or service because we experienced neither food nor service. read more

3rd or 4th time there tonight. Every time the food has been good and the service has been excellent. I got the Blackened Mahi Mahi and some coconut shrimp, really good! Matt was our server and he was attentive without being intrusive. Keep doing what you're doing Bluewater. read more

Our family went in for our first visit to the Bluewater Seafood restaurant tonight and were quite happy with the choice. We ordered some of their roasted oysters on the half shell as an appetizer. The butter garlic and Bluewater versions were fantastic (if you like oysters, definitely go for some of these!) Our server, Chad, was on the money. He made some great recommendations and made our dinner flow smoothly. Definitely will be back. Thanks again, Bluewater. read more

This is our go to place for crawfish, king crabs, oysters, and boiled shrimp. Everything is always fresh. Service also fast and friendly. We typically eat here at least once a month. read more

I'm only putting 4 because our first time we went was meh. This second time around however was really good! My husband got 4lbs of spicy garlic and he was very pleased with the size and taste! He also got the half order of oysters, it was his first time getting them but the waiter was very helpful, he made a suggestion on how to eat them and my husband really enjoyed it! I got the chicken quesadilla and that was very cheesy and good! My daughter got the kids cheese burger and for it being on the kids menu was sooo good! The service was really good and the waiter was very helpful. We will be back again for sure! read more

Excellent food, excellent service. Large variety for appetizers and lunch menu as well as fresh fish specials. Large portions. Great staff. Highly recommend all of their locations. read more

Love this place so much we went twice in one week! It was our first time going the first day and everything was delish! Their crawfish is amazing, it's spicy just the way i like it, I ordered 5 pounds the both times I went. i always add the mushrooms !! Drinks are bomb, their bluewater burger is amazing, oysters and cheese sticks great and the service was awesome! I will return as often as possible lol. read more

I meet an old friend here for lunch once a month. Food is good. Service excellent. Price is good value. Weekdays not crowded midday. I like this place. read more

This place is enjoyable for a simple night out with family and friends. Drinks were good, food was good, what else could we ask for? Sure our server seemed a bit dry but you can definitely overlook that with the overall experience you can enjoy with your friends and family. There was a wait, maybe because we were a bigger part. That's to be expected as it was also a Saturday night. Overall, I would happily come again read more

We are always impressed with this place. It is very good for not being near the ocean. Tonight my wife got a bad cluster of crab that basically had no meat inside. They graciously gave us a whole new order no questions asked. The crab is always cooked perfectly. It is very easy to overcook shellfish. It happens often in restaurants. I've never seen it here. read more

Here at bluewater grill on a Friday after going to watch the Astros World Series Parade... Food was good but have to say wasn't expecting 7.99 lb crawfish in Nov when all the crawfish was small! I guess they don't observer "out of season" prices when they know they can still charge anything they want and get away w it even though they know they are not serving quality crawfish. Needless to say i was very disappointed tonight. read more

Decent seafood and good service. The bucket inserted in the table was a little strange to me, but I guess it would have been convenient if I were eating shellfish. read more

Great place to grab seafood around Spring. Blackened Mahi was delicious. Our waiter Tiger did a fantastic job with our large group and helped make a birthday extra special! read more

This is my second visit in the last couple days. I like their oysters and micheladas, its about 4.50 for a micheladas, so pretty good price. it's not as good of gumbo but it was decent :) a lot of shrimp and big portion. Ill come back, since they have Decent prices. 10 for a dozen oysters, 10 for bowl of gumbo. The crawfish ettoufee is ok, not very good, I got the half fried half for 20 bucks, that wasn't worth the price at all. But everything else is good. read more

Everything we got was soooo good! Fried shrimp are huge! Great hush puppies and coleslaw too. Husband loved the gumbo and shrimp etouffee. Our server, Justin, was fantastic too! Can't wait to go back!! read more

Since the renovation, not only has the ambiance, but their good food is great! Well cooked crawfish, huge raw oysters, and our waiter Chad was one of the most enthusiastic, friendly, and extremely attentive waiters ever. read more

Whyyy. Everything was just ok. Poboy, gumbo, onion rings, stuffed avocado, crab cake were ok. Shrimp fried rice was disappointing. A sad meal. Paid too much for that kind of quality. Shame. read more

It's good for being so close. The service was good no complaints but price for the size of crawfish, ridiculous. Also it never gets spicy even when asking for spicyness times 4. Also I hate liquid spice soooo dirty b read more

We shared the Captain's catch, fried wings, and clam chowder...the food was outstanding!

This place is always my go to for great cajun seafood! My favorite is the captain's catch. The boudin balls are great! Their cocktail sauce is divine with the right amount of horseradish in it! Never had a bad meal here! read more

I went to this place by recommendation of a fellow crawfish eater... I am now questioning whether or not this friend actually eats crawfish!!! I am not disappointed with the service which was actually very attentive but the CRAWFISH were hot and cold which leads me to believe that they warmed them up! Not a good place for crawfish maybe in the future I will try something else. read more

Mediocre food, maybe less than that. Not much flavor in the grilled fish and shrimp, even though I asked for extra seasoning when ordering. Place was nice but I now know why it's always empty. I would consider going back if they reduced the prices, but not willing to pay 50 dollars for bad seafood for two again. I will say that they had a great bar and enviroment, which is good because I assume that you would have to be pretty drunk to eat the food. Tip for management, focus more on food and flavor! read more

Im giving this review because the food was good once we actually got it. Our service was HORRIBLE let me say it again....HORRIBLE!! We ordered apps that came after the entre. It was not crowded at all yet our server was never around. Once we paid our tab & asked for a lid to our to go sauce we waited another 15 mins & just left. I need for there to be better service read more
