We were on vacation from the States and wanted to try a little taste from back home so we decided to try Bluegrass for lunch on the last day of our trip to the wonderful UK. I ordered a basic lunch of the smoked chicken quarter and sweet potato fries. It was delicious, if I'd closed my eyes it could have been one of the better BBQ restaurants back home! The chicken was tender, with a nice smoked flavor that was noticeable but not overpowering the chicken. The sweet potato fries were among the best. Usually sweet potato fries tend to be a bit on the soft side with no crunch. These were scrumptious with a little crunch on the outside and soft and steamy inside. Yum! The slaw was also a hit with me. The dressing was a bit different than what I'm used to, but I couldn't figure out why. Nonetheless, it was a vinegar base that went well with the chicken and had a nice jalapeño kick to it! The sauces were good, I tried them all, but the chicken didn't really need any sauce. I will note that the mustard based sauce was unlike any I've tried but I am not fond of mustard base sauces to start with so I've not tried many. The service was good, our server was pleasant and it was nice enjoying BBQ in a rustic pub atmosphere. My only complaints are the slaw serving was a bit small. It was just the right amount to put on a sandwich but to me it wasn't enough for a side; and part of the chicken breast was just a wee bit on the dry side, but not enough to really detract from the meal or make the chicken tough. I've smoked enough chicken to know that chicken breast can go from moist and juicy to cardboard pretty quickly so timing can be very tough. Overall I found the meal delicious with some great smoked chicken and superb sweet potato fries! If we're ever back in the area I'll be back here for a meal! read more

One of my favorite go+to locations in Windsor. Real Southern USA taste of home, just outside the Windsor Castle gate. This place is a gem.

Just outside the entry way to Windsor Palace is a road that has run there since William the Conqueror first built the place. On the corner is, believe it or not, an American style BBQ ribs joint. We decided to eat there and it was almost like returning home to the USA. For a few hours, except for the British accents of the servers and paying the bill with Pounds. As country music played in the background DH and I shared a half rack of pork ribs, fries and coleslaw. We also had Cokes from the 'imported' American drinks on the menu. The ribs and fries were just right. The only odd thing was that the coleslaw was dry - it contained no mayo. I thought too late that we might have asked for mayo and mixed it in ourselves. I'd like to let you know about the service and food but I can't. We walked in , noticed 2 empty tables inside and 4 open tables outside. The hostess said there was nothing available and the wait was one hr. I'm confused about how this is possible. If you don't have the staff, simply say it will take a while to get the food, but saying no seats are available when clearly there are, is bad business. read more

I know, how coming from the States we go to ear BBQ in the UK, but we were not craving to eat fish and chips, so we came across this place. What a great surprise, the food was delicious! The service was great as well, the girl that helped us kept apologizing because it was her first day and she was not feeling fully trained, well I can only say, don't worry you did great! The burgers are big, the chili plate was huge and delicious, a bit spicy... As a good family that gets their nose in the other members business (), we tried a bit of each other plates. To me the best was my chili, followed by the mac n cheese burger, then the Tennessee pulled pork. The other part we really enjoyed is the variety of ciders they had, my favorite their berries one. BBQ restaurant in the heart of Windsor very close to Windsor Castle (short walk). It appears to be an effort to bring U.S. BBQ to the U.K. It was good, but not exactly on the mark compared to U.S. BBQ. The service was fast and friendly. Overall a good place for a bite if you're visiting Windsor Castle. The pulled pork was good. It comes with Carolina style sauce standard (mustard based), but you can ask for it plain. They have three BBQ sauces on the table for you anyway, including Carolina and two tomato based sauces - one spicy, one sweet. The sauces were all good, but not great. They serve the same fries like everywhere else in England - thick cut steak fries, but you can upgrade them with a spice that adds some nice flavor. They also offer other upgrades for the fries. All upgrades add to your bill. Their coleslaw was just bad. It had a slight vinegar flavor but was basically just dry, crunchy, raw-tasting cabbage. Not remotely close to U.S. coleslaw, sweet or sour style. The Coke float I ordered was subpar; the Coke tasted flat. read more

Amazing. Fried chicken sandwich was incredible. The flavor on just the chicken was addictive but the onion ring and mustard bbq sauce were Hallelujah. Drink menu is suitable for whatever. Ice cream and even true fresh watermelon. Yes, that's right, great southern food in Windsor. read more

Looking to enjoy a great restaurant + a great view? This is your place! My wife and I loved it! You walk into soft country music playing and the atmosphere makes you feel like home. The value for the food was excellent, with the conversion to USD, it was less than $15 for 2 full meals! The food was so looked good that I even forgot to take a picture!! The only downside is that half way through the meal it started raining and we had to go inside. The dining room is very very small and the tables are too close to each other. The service was top notch! The staff made recommendations for local sites and other restaurants. We visit the UK every year and will definitively return to this restaurant. read more

Extremely slow service. We were the only 2 people in the restaurant, on a Monday, at noon, and it took 45 minutes to get 1 chicken sandwich and an order of pulled pork. We are here now and have been sitting close to an hour and still don't have our food. Service is very very slow. Table next to us is very loud. **Finally got our food and it was mostly terrible. The burger was just ok. The chicken wrap was fine. The max n cheese was awful and smelled terrible. The fried pickles were bad. This is a great place to grab a very tasty burger. The burger was perfectly cooked and the flavors were well balanced, they also had a nice selection of toppers for the burgers and sauces. Our waitress was super new so she wasn't able to answer many of our questions without running down the stairs first to ask someone else. But she was friendly. We were sort of expecting to be disappointed since we are from the south US but we were pleasantly surprised at how authentic the BBQ was. It was super tender and perfectly seasoned. They offered a variety of sauces on the table. The frickles (fried pickles) were ginormous fried wedges as opposed to little pickle chips so that was a nice bite. It would've been better with a dipping sauce. All in all, the food was satisfying, affordable and I highly recommend it if you're missing a bit of the South while traveling to Windsor. read more
