Meh. As an American missing home, I thought I'd give this place a try since it received generally positive reviews for its burgers. I wasn't impressed. I ordered the basic cheeseburger and I don't think the meat was of particularly high-quality. Also, it was cold. I also ordered their limited time only roasty tater tots. When I went to pick them up, however, they had run out of tots, and so they gave me a pile of french fries that I could dip in the gravy. Not exactly the same thing, but I thought I'd give it a shot. The fries were cold, so it didn't really much matter. The gravy was also cold. The gravy would probably be good if it were served at room temperature let alone hot. Food temperature and quality aside, the right thing to do would have been to refund the cost of the tots, not try to substitute fries without my agreement. If I had the chance to do it over, I'd skip this place. read more

After 11 days in Italy we found ourselves craving something besides pasta. We needed something other than pizza. We needed a burger. Enter Byron's. Located right across the street from the Gloucester Road station it's really easy to find. And around 12:30 on a Sunday there were plenty of seats. Byron's is modern, yet comfortable. Staff is friendly and they make up a mean burger. Both the Hubs and I ordered the BYRON Burger - with bacon, cheddar, shredded iceberg, tomato, red onion and Byron sauce. At £9.25 the dish doesn't come with fries which is a bit of a bummer, and in turn a bit expensive. But we made sure to add a couple sides to try. The fries (£2.95) were mighty tasty. The order come in a nice size bowl that's easy to share. We also ordered up the courgette fries (fried zucchini sticks) (£3.25). I didn't love these...I guess I'd rather just stick to fresh/crisp zucchini instead of fried. Hubs liked them though. We ended with milkshakes to go. Yum. We spent about £32 ($55) on two burgers, two sides and two shakes. Which, generally, is a bit expensive for us but overall - Byron's a really good meal. Burger was seasoned nicely and cooked as asked. Soft bun. And I'm usually not fan of "secret sauces" but this one is really tasty, don't go without it. read more

I was staying across the street at the Gloucester Millennium and wanted something simple and accessible for dinner. No seared foie gras or confit of something that was not meant to confit-ed. I get no more than 50 meters from the hotel and see the orange awning of Byron. Byron is an new-American styled burger place. I peeped the menu and was sold. The decor was sleek and modern, the waitstaff was young and friendly, and the dinner crowd was lively. The drink list was not only full of beer, but also had a nice wine selection. I had a glass of malbec. Red wine and cheeseburgers are a fantastic combo. I had the Byron - burger with cheddar cheese, bacon and thousand island / Russian dressing. I ordered chips, which the menu called "french fries" as a nod to the American theme. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and the service here. If I stay in any of the area hotels again, I am definitely coming here again. read more

Gizz-Mo burger created by Gizzi Erskine in honoregistered MovemberWelsh, a Welsh Rarebit with cheddar and Worcestershire sauce with a 50p donation to the cause. I'll go with a Byron to try his special sauce. It's a simple, meat market feel with white tile floors and walls. Blank walls without art and sparse lighting make it a drab feel. The only spice is on the table in the form f Cholula hot sauce. Not sure how many Londoners use it but they should. I've tried burgers from various joints around LDN and the tops would be Gourmet and Byron. Both have fairly similar but I would say Bryon is closer to the State's staple meal. I don't get the onion rings. The light batter with herbs an pepper does not make a proper ring. Not sure what it is but I'm no fan. The french fries looked better. Being in London for over a week, my brother and I were craving burgers! We were staying just up the street and it was a short 5 minute walk. We were greeted and seated right away, taken our drink order and our meal order quickly! We loved the service the best service we've had since being in London. We ordered the nachos to start off and they were soooo goood. It was way better then we had expected. To drink I had a strawberry milkshake that had real strawberry bits inside... YUM. We were brought water without asking which hadn't been done at any other place we've eaten in London. I had the E-Rex burger medium cooked and it was to die for. The portion sizes are rather big so I'd recommend sharing. Overall, we had a wonderful experience because our waitress went above and beyond from the beginning. read more

Great BURGERS! Went there after joining their burger club (which got us a free burger) we got to sample their newest addition to the menu, 'sweet caroline' which had all sorts of beef and pulled pork deliciousness! it was huge! Also tried the vegetarian bean burger patty which we had with cheddar cheese and accompanied by skinny fries (which were really good!) We went there hoping to get a bottle of prosecco but they were out after a busy weekend which was a little disappointing but it was all sweetened by the bottle of Malbec and the complimentary olives we got instead! If you're looking for an American style burger joint, definitely check this place out. I only had two burgers while in London, but this place definitely was better. Pros: - Food is excellent. I had the B-Rex burger and it was cooked perfectly and was flavorful and juicy. We also had the Mac n Cheese balls and they were delicious. The fries were also seasoned well and crispy. - Restaurant style sort of reminded me of a 1950s diner, but was charming nonetheless. - Good beer selection for those who like craft beers. I was honestly very disappointed with the beers offered throughout London because they were all so mild and tasteless. Byron actually had a great beer selection though and I enjoyed the Fantasma IPA so much that I had two! I'll be looking for this in the US if it's available. Cons: - My fiancé had the Avocado burger and she said it was under seasoned and a little bland. She did say the meat had a nice sear though. - A little expensive. I just ate the best burger I've ever tasted! My husband and I split two different burgers, he ordered the Byron, while I ordered the Mo'Shroom. Both burgers were quite tasty, the patties themselves were seasoned well, and we're cooked to perfection. I stopped in Byron while visiting London. After being in London for the better part of six days, I was in desperate need of some kind of American food. I stumbled upon Byron and I smiled instantaneously. In America, we love our burgers. so I was curious to see how Byron measured up according to my taste buds. As I scanned the menu, I saw that the burgers were slightly expensive. I said to myself, "oh well, I'm I tourist". I ordered a fresh squeezed lemonade at it was delicious. Its really difficult to master a good fresh squeezed lemonade. It was definitely worth a try. The menu had a nice selection of alcoholic beverages to choose from as well. For my burger entree I ordered the Double Bacon Cheese burger with a side of skin on fries. The burger was eh.....ok I guess. I wish I could have added lettuce to it but I was starving and was just happy to have some American food for the first time during my stay. The Byron Sauce is what stood out to me. It was so tasty that I asked my waitress if I could purchase a couple of bottles to take back home with me to the states. She looked at me stated that they weren't for sale and nobody has made that request to her before. At that point there was no way I was leaving the restaurant without a bottle of Byron Sauce. So I called the Manager over to my table and let him know that I wanted to buy a few bottles to take home. He said "of course we sell our bottles of Byron sauce". So he charged me a few bucks for two bottles. I forgot to mention that the manager had the most EPIC handlebar mustache I've seen. He was very helpful in making that upsell. Overall, it was an ok experience. Byron served its purpose for me during my visit. I've had better burgers at home. Although the plate of food presented looked a little sparse for the expense, the burger itself was very juicy and what I call a proper American piece of delight. The portion of fries were also on the small size however they were good ole fashioned french fries not chips masquerading as fries so i was happy to give up quantity for quality. In total the meal was genuinely good. If there is one sidebar comment that must be noted - the burger was a bit on the salty side but otherwise a solid performance. Unlike Burger King next door where you will get a super sized portion without having to shell out some serious sterling to eat a slice of Americana, the price spent (which was around £15 for a burger, fries and coke) was well worth the cost. Mad Xenophobic Burgers Beyond ThunderNom. All of Byron's burger joints are in London, which I, frankly, find practically racialist against Scots. I'm sure that many would agree, perhaps we should have a referendum about it? Why does Byron's overt and blatant anti Scottishism get on my boybits so much? Because their burgers are bloody great, that's why! The eponymous Byron burger is a great burger, up there with the best. What disturbs me is the utterly outrageous cost: £9.25 for the Byron Burger and a further £200 or so in travel expenditure from Edinburgh to get it. A damned disgrace. I absolutely loved the burger's at Byron. The blew the burger's at Gourmet Burger Kitchen right down the street out of the water completely. All of my flat mates and I loved this place and some of them came here at least a couple of times a week. i know they loved the milk shakes, I never tried them as I don't do too well with ice cream and milkshakes are really not my favorite. My favorite burgers were the Veggie Burger and Byron Burger. The sides were also really good and we generally got a couple and shared them. I really liked the fries, homemade skin-on chips, and onion rings. They all were seasoned well and had really great flavor. We also tried the tortilla chips with guacamole, which were delicious as well. As for drinks I generally had the lemonade which was really delicious. Although their burgers were a little bit expensive, the burgers were so fantastic that we splurged here once in a while for their fantastic burgers. When my mom came over to visit this is one of the first places I took her to and she loved it as well. I highly recommend Byron for their food! read more

I came here with a group of ~20 around 7:30 (unbelievable, yes, I'm well aware, and also slightly shamefaced about it), and they had room for us, after working some magic with the tables. The food came out promptly, all things considered, though I agree with other reviewers in that the portions are very sparse-looking. My classic burger was delicious though. It really is pink, juicy, and succulent! Slightly pricey though it may be, the atmosphere is wonderful: very posh and really just a happy place to be. We stopped into the Gloucester Rd Byron's after a long day of touring outside of London. Needed food that would fill us up- quickly! The waitresses were attentive enough and we placed our order of cheeseburgers pretty quickly. Because we were starving- I ordered nachos off the "starter" menu. After a little while- our burgers were brought out to us... no nachos. Our waitress noticed and brought out the nachos AFTER the burgers- and apologized. The burgers were pretty delicious & I ate every bite. The nachos, on the other hand were pitiful. They had pico de gallo, sour cream, and guacamole in nice sized servings plopped on top. I had my first experience yesterday when my wife and I stumbled across this little gem but it was their bigger location in the city. We ordered the Old Smokey on the waiters recommendation and both loved it. I also am a huge fan of the Thatchers Old Rascal cider, I need to order some when I get back to Oz. The wifey was full from lunch today and I spotted this smaller location down the road from where we are staying at The Rydges. I ordered the Chilli Queen and I think I loved it even more, spicy on a well cooked patty with a little of that charred flavour I adore, with delicious melted American jack cheese. Amazing!! Last week I just felt like grabbing a cheeseburger with fries without any fuss...I guess I was missing New York. I so want to like Byron, but I'm ALWAYS disappointed. There's something very ungenerous about the place. The burgers seem small and the cheese, whichever one you choose, is always thin. It's as though they work out how to give their customers as little as possible. I expect to feel STUFFED after a cheeseburger, but I always come away from this place feeling like I haven't really been fed. On top of that, the atmosphere is bland. Flip-flopping on Byron. It's been kind of shit lately, but my wife likes their salad. I get all excited to eat their mediocre chips, onion rings, etc., and then am guilted into sharing a salad. I feel like they're constantly changing their bread supplier because the buns go from being like a awful stodgy bap to a nice chewy air-pocketed bun back to a bready piece of shit. Skinny chips go from being plain to being coated (probably in corn starch to keep them crispy) back to plain, back to coated. In any event, I can't stand them coated so it's their hand cut chips for me (yes, they cost a bit more but i'm worth it). My wife and I had quick dinner here the other day. I had regular burger which was ok, but not great, I've definitely tasted better. My spouse had a burger without a bun (not sure what it's called), which once again was pretty average, though the meat in general was definitely better than in GBK. All in all in terms of food the experience was OK, but we'll probably try something different next time around. I just finished what I consider to be a very professional hamburger. I had a "Byron" with courgette fries and a Bear Republic Racer 5 IPA (brewed in Healdsburg California, a short distance from where I used to live and where my son still lives). The burger was tasty in every bite, a great balance of bun, bacon, lettuce, tomato, cheese, onion, sauce and burger. The meat was a little chewy in spots, but that's something I like in burgers; some texture that keeps it from tasting like a pile of mush. It was tasty down to the last bite without becoming soggy, which was still moist but left only a couple drops of juice on my plate. No waste at all. The fries were also remarkable, perhaps the best courgette fries I've ever eaten. Sliced thin and cooked to a near-perfect consistency with a light-but-not-too-light coating of batter. Nothing else need be said about Racer 5, other than noting how clever Byron is to have it on their beer menu. Very attentive staff, although I was there early on a Tuesday and business had not picked up yet. I heard a few patrons with very specific desires (I was the only one who needed a menu) which I believe were handled accurately. After a long flight and checking into my hotel, I needed to grab a bite to eat and a beer. I searched for close places and found this burger spot (yes I know, my first stop as an American is a burger spot). Thy struck my attention because they sold American IPAs, my favorite kind of beer back in the states (once again, I know, I should be drinking English ales and such instead of trying my usual comforts). So, as an American, hell, as a Texan, I know good burgers. And this Byron burger was up there with any other quality gourmet burger I've had in the states. The vegetables seemed fresh, the meat was of good quality, I believe Scottish cows, and the cheese, bun and Byron's sauce all were very nice. I got the courgette fries (fried zucchini) where also very tasty (as a Texan I grew op on fried squash). Also, they have a good selection of beers and a few American IPAs like Odell's IPA from Colorado (scored very high on beer advocate and ratebeer). Burgers, beer, this American has no complaints. Their massive, tasty burgers can come fully equipped with great fries and milkshakes that are to die for (The cookies and cream milkshake was very possibly the best milkshake I've ever had). While great for take-away, Byron is also equipped with a large dining area that is accomodating to both those looking for a quieter evening or parties looking to kick back after work and sit by the bar or outside with a drink or two. While prices are a bit steep compared to a burger in the states, this is London, and South Kensington at that. You're here to break the bank as it is, so you'd might as well get your pounds worth. Byron serves a delicious (in their words "proper") burger with a variety of meats and toppings. My personal favorite is the corn-fed chicken burger - something about the marinade hits the spot perfectly; when combined with a slice of mature cheddar and a side of onion rings (or potatoes, depending on your fancy), it makes a lethal late-night snack. I've rarely had to wait for a table here, so makes a good choice for a spur of the moment meal - despite the lack of wait time, the restaurant is lively and often full of people. A point to note: sides are portioned quite small - without prices to match. Don't expect to get full on just one. read more

This was right down the street from our hotel in S. Kensington. We got to London early, on a cold, windy, rainy day and were not allowed to check in to our hotel for another couple of hours. We were starving and walked in to Byron's, taking a chance that it was good enough. As soon as we opened the door we were greeted with a huge smile and were seated quickly. We received our hamburgers and onion rings soon after we ordered and they were great. My boyfriend got a normal cheeseburger and I got the Byron (if that's the bacon cheeseburger). We were both quite impressed with the hamburgers, but it was the onion rings that were the "wow" factor. We actually came back the next day just to get more onion rings. I can definitely recommend this place and if I ever make my way back to this gorgeous city, I will stopping in. read more

I love burgers, and I LOVE hot sauce. So the chilli burger at Byron really is my idea of food heaven. Luckily, or not so luckily for my waistline, I have a branch literally 5 minutes from my office so I often head there with my colleagues to indulge in one of my favourite meals! The chilli burger contains a 6oz hamburger smothered with green chilli, American cheese, shredded iceberg and chipotle mayonnaise and I always order extra avocado to go inside. As a rule i order my steaks rare and my burgers medium rare. I like my beef to be still moo-ing when it hits my plate. The burgers at Byron always come perfectly cooked with the right balance of pink and charring to add flavour. One of the other draws to Byron, aside from the namesake burgers , is the courgette fries. Trust me, once you've tried these, you won't ever order regular fries again! they are basically soft and juicy courgette stripes fried tempura style in a light, crispy batter....all that you need is a nice glass of Fentimans ginger beer to wash it all down! absolute perfection! read more
