Mac & cheese balls w/ chilli sauce
    Fátima F.

On my first trip to London, our only plans were to visit the major sites, eat local food, and wing it. Found this place on Yelp on our first night and have to say we are so happy went here! Everything is so delicious, the mac and cheese balls with the chilli sauce, the classic burger, backed mac, dumpling burgers. We showed up late 10p (on a Wednesday) just as the kitchen was closing and they still took our order. The music vibe was 90s hip hop and RnB Jayz, Foxy, Brandy, etc. If you are looking for a good time, good food, and drinks this is the place to go. Oh yea, Fri/Sat they bring in a DJ!

Dirty Bones is an NYC-inspired food and cocktail concept which has blossomed into a foursome of branches spread across London. This Kensington Church Street basement outlet was the first. Hipster interior, funky music, waitstaff with face piercings and a menu to match - how much cooler can you get? Thankfully I visited the restaurant in a large group and therefore got to try many of their offerings. The Classic is basically a kickass cheeseburger. It's one of two things whoever ordered enjoyed. The other was the Short Beef Rib, which I ordered. The meat on this Fred Flintstone sized serving was fall off the bone tender, and the sauce it came basted with was thankfully not overwhelmingly sweet. Sadly, I can't say the same about the Pork Belly Ribs which were bone dry, a huge disappointment. Other items we ordered were Padron Peppers (recommended), Flat Iron Steak (recommended, medium-rare), Chicken & Waffles, Crispy Lamb Fries (recommended), Summer Chopped Salad (boring) and the Gem Lettuce Salad. Service at Dirty Bones was friendly, attentive, accommodating and far better than I expected. Our table was looked after by a young girl with face piercings who reminded me of Lisbeth Salander in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, only prettier...and more patient. Dirty Bones is listed as 'not kids friendly' yet the 11-year olds in our group had fun. The teenagers had a great time and so did us old farts. Yeah, I liked this place. The food wasn't as good as I expected nor was the music (no DJ) but the ambience and service were top-notch. Would I go back? Probably. Hey! I have to say, we walked around Notting Hill and Kensington for quite a bit before we stumbled upon this place. We were just looking for a good cocktail. This place exceeded all my expectations, not only providing good service but delicious cocktails. We ordered two drinks that were pretty fruity but definitely not too sweet (which is what were worried about). The drinks were well crafted and the service was great!

Cool, American-style speak Easy restaurant and cocktail bar. Good music playing (90's rap night tonight). It's a "type", so make sure you're in the mood for that speak-easy/music vibe, and you should be happy. Menu is well balanced and service was excellent. Recommend the cheeseburger dumplings appetizer.

Top Notch Food, Vibe was amazing, great classic hiphop playlist on when we ate. The drinks were good, fun cocktails which were made even better by the prices in 'cocktail hour' (£5 each or two local bottled beers for £6). Really great service, we had an awesome time and can't wait to go back.

When it comes to food, I am one greedy little piglet. I always order the biggest breakfast in the cafe, I'm prone to eat a large Dominos & sides on my own and there was that time with the bargain bucket that I try not to think about... My mum once described my brother Chris and I to her friend as 'the finest eaters' and whilst that wasn't my defining hour I can kind of see where she's coming from. So when Katy invited me to take on the MAC ATTACK CHALLENGE with her, I was sure I was going to kill it! The Mac Attack is the new food challenge dreamed up by the team at Dirty Bones. Three beef patties, two brioche buns, BBQ pulled pork, mac'n'cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and onion. All on top of a pile of Dirty Fries with chilli cheese sauce, cactus salsa, grated cheese. All of this to be eaten in 10 minutes with no liquids. Now I won't lie. The preparation for this food eating challenge was a mixed bag of emotions. First I felt bravado - I can totally do this. Then I felt fear - like real genuine worry - before I settled with a mis-match of faux-confidence and anxious excitement. If you've been to Dirty Bones before, you'll know the restaurant is down in the basement below street level of High Street Ken. I got there early so I ordered a beer and waited for Katy to arrive. SCHOOL BOY ERROR NUMBER ONE. When taking on a food challenge, one should not drink fizzy drinks beforehand. In fact, according to Adam Richmond AKA King of all that is Man vs Food, you shouldn't really eat/drink very much on the day of the challenge at all (yes we googled his advice beforehand) He also recommends doing a "Shake Down Shimmy" half way so you know it's all very credible, scientific stuff Once Katy arrived, we were led through to the eating arena. I had my back to the kitchen so I had to keep surveying Katy's expressions for any sign that our impending burger boom was on it's way out. When her first dropped, I knew it was happening. The chef even stuck his head out the door to see who was taking it on AND LAUGHED. There was so much food oozing everywhere I didn't even know how to photograph it. Let alone eat the thing. All strategy and game plan was quickly going out the window. There was only one thing to do. Put down the camera, take off watches, tie back hair and SHOVEL.... So how did we do?! Wellllll not so great. I managed all three patties, all the pulled pork but a whole heapppp of carbs were left on the plate. But come on, there was A LOT of food and we really did try. The waitress even told us we'd done better than a lot of the guys that had attempted it. SO BE PROUD OF US Also only ONE person has ever completed it so you know, we didn't really have a chance... I'd love to tell you what I thought of the food, but I wasn't really thinking about flavours - more about getting it all in my gob. BUT the service is brilliant and the bar is well stocked with an awesome cocktail list so I'm keen to head back to try their menu at a more reasonable pace!

Thought we'd try this place out and have a burger. It was okay, but really nothing to write home about - just average. This is an 'American' style eatery with fried chicken, burger and hotdogs. Also expect steaks and mac and cheese. However the potion sizes were anything but America: quite small. The burger was overcooked (apparently this is another place that a medium rare is cooked through. Salad was okay, bun okay, chips okay but came covered in American cheese - yuk. Most redeeming feature was the slaw, that was pretty yummy. Although a bit on the expensive side for such a small portion. Overall cost was about average, although on the higher end of the average scale. I quite enjoyed the decent into the bar and the hipster vibe. They have some wonderful retro old goodies and it was a nice place. Maybe it didn't help that the place was pretty empty when we visited. We had planned to stay and chill out, but just ate our burgers and left, so we weren't there for that long, as there was nothing to keep us riveted. I think it could be fun if you went with a group. Appeased the burger fix, little else.

Been here twice and enjoyed my meal both times. Had the burger the first time, juicy and filling. This last time I went with the fried chicken. Three big pieces, nice and tender. The waitstaff were attentive but not overbearing. Happy hour is a good deal. 2-1 beer or £5 specialty drinks. I'll definitely be coming back.

Good vibe. The cheese burger dumpling were amazing. The pulled pork was good. The music was on point.

The dogs were tasty and the buns just right. We enjoyed our dinner here. Started with the half order of the fried chicken, better than KFC lol! The Brit dog has treacle bacon, and beer cheese. Tasty! The Mac and cheese was the best, real cheese not the fake stuff. You can pick a beef dog or pork or veggie. I'll be back to try the ribs. Had the milk and cookies for dessert a nice way to end the meal.

    Asian Dog. Yum yum

This place has been on my radar for the last few months since it opened and finally had the chance to try it out! The waitress was very attentive and explained the menu to us patiently. We ordered the Asian Dog (£8) and Classic Yankee (£7.50) each- not entirely cheap- but you get a choice of either pork, beef or veggie sausage. The Dogs didn't disappoint- the pork sausages were meaty, juicy and every mouthful delivered on flavours. I will definitely go back and perhaps try the Burger Dog- the waitress talked us out of it since it is like a burger appearing as a hot dog. Thanks for the experience!

You Chicken (special cocktail). Amazingly refreshing & good! This place is really cool & hip.

Perfect spot! Not a pretentious place. Warming environment + awesome staff. You can't go wrong. When you add awesome drinks = must try!

Dirty Dog. Fully equipped with BBQ Pulled Pork, Crispy Bacon, Jalapeño Cheese Sauce...
    Lauren G.

I had no problem putting away the dirty dog. Fully equipped with Dirty Bones BBQ Pulled Pork, Crispy Bacon, Jalapeño Cheese Sauce and Crispy Shallots. Flavours were subtle but work together well without overpowering one another. Pretty much loved this piece of beef. You can also get it in Pork or Veggie. Like everything else in this saucy hideaway, it could of been a bit bigger. Also had the "Shadow' for desert (Malted Milk & Chocolate Ice Cream, Milk, Oreo, Chocolate Sauce) that tasted like magic star's but BETTER. Who do you know that doesn't love a cheeky packet (or two) of magic stars? Blows TGI Fridays Oreo shake out the game. Was very disappointed with the mac'n'cheese. I personally prefer it to have stronger flavours and a less stodgy sauce. Overall I would recommend a visit to Dirty Bones.

Within the first three minutes of sitting down, three different servers came over to ask about drinks. Shortly after our drinks arrived, two more came to check if we were ready to order food. When we said we wanted a bit more time, we were reminded that there was a two-hour time limit on the table, which felt unnecessary since we had only just arrived. With about 23 minutes still left in our booking window, plates were already being cleared and the bill was brought over, which made the end of the meal feel rushed. We ordered the Sunday roast whole chicken to share. It came with green beans, roasted potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, mashed carrots, and two small pots of what seemed to be parsnip purée. The chicken itself was a bit dry, and the purée is a bit confusing. Overall, the experience felt more rushed than enjoyable, which was a shame as we were hoping for a relaxed pub lunch.

You check in upstairs and you go downstairs with your table number for seating. It's nicely decorated in lights for the holidays. Food is amazing! It's elevated traditional English food. We ordered Sunday Roast (because it's Sunday), Pork belly and their Sea bream. Roast beef was cooked to perfection. Their sauce is delicious and their horseradish paired perfectly. Their pork belly was really good, especially with their crispy crackling, really made the dish. the Sea bream was also good with their crispy skin and buttery lemon sauce. You need to get their apple crumble for dessert, it was so deliciously yummy! Crunchy, creamy, salty and sweet, it was perfection and perfect way to end an already scrumptious dinner. This is the second time we've been here since we've visited London, and it won't be the last!

QUESTION: Where can you go to get a five-star hotel's afternoon champagne tea for £20?…read more ANSWER: The Wyndham Grand at Chelsea Harbour. It's as simple as that, folks. Because of the Wyndham Grand's out-of-the-way Imperial Wharf location, you, too, could enjoy the epic spread of afternoon tea (with posh finger sandwiches, two homemade warm raisin scones with clotted cream and jam and a spread of individually sized sweet pastries and other treats - too much food for a single person to reasonably consume, I assure you) along with a glass of bubbly at a leisurely pace whilst taking in the view of the harbour and its (billionaires') boats. I'm not entirely sure why the afternoon tea is so cheap, but it is. Tea without champagne is a measly 15 quid. I booked a place for tea online and arrived to a quiet lounge area at 3:00pm, with Sunday brunch winding down in the adjacent restaurant. The table was set, and the polished and besuited server greeted me graciously. The low-seated couches and armchairs were large and cosy, and my companions and I sipped, munched, supped and gluttonously indulged for THREE HOURS. Service wasn't without its faults: the server was a bit nervous for whatever reason, but she was certainly friendly and gracious; my first pot of tea was loose leaf, as one would expect of afternoon tea at a five-star hotel, but my second pot had a teabag chucked in (although said tea in teabag was aromatic and delicious); water and/or tea refills weren't forthcoming, but the server would have fetched these things if asked. Despite these lapses in service (nit-picky though they are), overall, the experience and value for money were outstanding. SUMMARY: Go here if you're a local, you want an indulgent yet inexpensive afternoon tea, you don't want to combat crowds of tourists who may or may not think that the clotted cream belongs in their teacups.* _______________________________________________________ *Although I do know that by posting this review the afternoon tea at the Wyndham Grand may very well become more busy than it was on my first visit, I remain confident that it will maintain its atmosphere of exclusivity due to its less-accessible location.
