Several of my U.S. colleagues recommended this restaurant, just a 5 min walk from our hotel at the Harte & Garter ... and next door to the Sir Christopher Wren hotel on the Thames River. Loved the ambience - English countryside, rustic. Menu had a lot of duck, lamb & seafood. Service very friendly. MAPLE GLASED CONFIT LEG OF DUCK - £15 I love duck so imagine my excitement when there were actually several duck options - e.g., Duck Shepherd's Pie and Poached Duck Egg & Avocado. I decided on this dish. Also came w/ braised red cabbage and roasted yellow potatoes (outside had nice crunch). Everything was very good. ROASTED SUCKLING PIG - £19 Crispy crackling (similar to fried pork skins - I tried it and loved the texture & crunch), spiced apple chutney & roasted yellow potatoes. My co-worker enjoyed her dish. TRUFFLE MACARONI & CHEESE - £4 Just ok - thought it was too overcooked & the outside was hard. Overall very nice restaurant. FYI 12.5% gratuity included in total bill.

This is a cosy pub with delicious food and good drinks. The staff were friendly and helpful. The presentation of the food was beautiful, and window seats were picturesque. We ordered the Burger, Chicken Avocado sandwich, cauliflower soup with pita, cosmopolitan, and a mojito. The burger was solid: juicy and flavorful. The sandwich had a crunchy bread, well cooked chicken, and fresh avocado. On the other hand, the soupy went well with the pita but required a sprinkle of salt. Overall, the drinks were the best. The cosmopolitan was delicious. It wasn't very strong and was a little bit sour. The mojito was a bit stronger and well made.

It seems that being down the hill made this joint less crowded, around noon on a Monday, than the places we saw up the hill afterwards. The atmosphere is old England, and the keepers pleasant. Our table maybe could have been cleaner, and the window I sat next to was largely covered up by dried flowers and branches for decoration, and it kept poking me. But no biggie. The food was great. I had the lamb. Wife had the scallops. Kid had the rocket salad. The only complaint was that the salad had more dressing than she likes.

We had stopped by hoping to grab some food before visiting Windsor Castle but unfortunately they don't serve lunch until noon. After about a hour of walking around we decided the line was too long to get into the castle so we headed back to the restaurant. They have a really good lunch special menu with lots of different options to choose from for under £10. I went for the flat iron steak which was served with an arugula salad and fries. The steak was a little tough but seasoned well, not surprising since it's a flat iron steak. Well worth the money at £9.

I encountered Bel & The Dragon when I was driving to Windsor castle and thought wow what a cool name! From there I was like don't even check reviews, lets just give this place a shot and it seems like a local place and again, what a cool name! I am extremely glad we gave this place a shot because it became one of my favorite meals in the UK. I came for lunch and the prices seemed very reasonable and the food was very good. I got the lobster linguine and it was great bang for the buck for lunch. The pasta was cooked well, sauce was just right, and it had a decent amount of lobster shreds in it for the price. Their 2 most popular dishes are the suckling pig and the dish & chips and I can definitely see why. The suckling pig is a big pricey, but it was a wonderful blend of sweet, savory, and texture; really well done dish. The fish & chips were the best I had all trip as well. The fish tasted fresh and the batter was just right. I'd definitely recommend this place if you are ever visiting Windsor castle and need a place to grab lunch!

This is my absolute favorite meal during our Europe trip. We accidentally discovered this gem as we were going to Windsor castle. We came around 10am and was told that they weren't open until later. Thankfully, the server still let us use their toilet. Since the server was so friendly even when the restaurant wasn't open yet, we decided to come back for lunch after visiting the castle. Everyone online recommended the suckling pig so that's what I had for lunch. Hands down, it was the best pork I had. The crispness of the pork dipped in the sweet apple sauce was heaven. I usually never finish my meals. But this time, I devoured every last piece of that pork and used every drip of the apple sauce. I was sick of eating potatoes at this point. But the duck fat potatoes were SO good. I also finished majority of it myself. My friend had the fish and chips. It was our first fish & chips experience in London and it set the bar SO high. We could not find any better than this. My fiancee had the lobster linguine and it had a decent amount of lobster in it. The 4th dish I got to try was the flat iron. It was a bit rough and not as good as the first two. We were in a rush to get back to our car since we parked at a 2hr meter. Our sweet server was super considerate and immediately brought the check and credit card machine. If you're ever in the area, this is worth the drive!!

Cute pub, with exceptional food. Was disappointed to miss tea (starts at 3pm), so had no option but to drink Prosecco instead! The fish and chips were way better than expected. I had read prior reviews recommending, but was a bit skeptical since it is in a very touristy area. Thank you, Bel & The Dragon for not only exceeding my expectations, but knocking it out of the park. The fish was cooked to perfection, and the tartar was very nice. Chips fried crispy and golden. Peas in general aren't my favorite, so I'll leave that for you to review. The pub itself is cozy and cute, highly recommend!

Rib eye with bernaise sauce. Very tasty.

The food is good and the ambiance is very cosy. The service is slow, we wait too much for the food and you have to ask for attention several times. At the end we would like to order the dessert but they advised that we dont have more time for that. I would like to say that we didn't have a previous resevartion. The dessert (apple pie) is incredible. Must have!

Dear Bel & The Dragon Owner, What a great pub in Windsor this is! It was my first time there and quite possibly, my only time since I was here on business. I loved the atmosphere! You not only were able to accommodate a large group of us, but the layout of the tables were spectacular! We had the front room all to ourselves. Let's move on to your menu. I couldn't have asked for a better choice of pub fare. I started off with an Appletiser! How refreshingly delicious! Next was a Selection of Country Breads Served with Roasted Garlic, Olive Oil & Olives. Roasted garlic on a menu! 6 stars for this ALONE! Then, there was a ramekin of cheese... sorry, the name slips my mind. Then to the main course, Pan Fried Chicken with mushroom risotto! This was the dish worth coming to eat! The panna cotta was a little on the rubbery side and definitely didn't have not enough vanilla extract in there. A fun time was had by all there! Cheers! Dreamsrey

Incredible dinner in Windsor near Eaton! The parsnip soup was delicious with herbs and superb flavors. The best I've ever had! The duck confit was cooked to perfection and perfectly complemented by the parsnip and carrots along with outstanding potatoes. The truffle and Parmesan fries were a perfect side as well. The ambiance was cozy with a fireplace and historic rooms. Truly memorable experience and authentic British hospitality.

Great food , not a pub. Very nice place more upscale. The pork was crispy and well done. The duck was juicy and not dry at all. Service was excellent. Call ahead on nights

This is a cute little pub near the Thames River and bridge to cross to Eton. Inside is really cute with little cozy nooks. After wandering around Windsor and the Castle was looking for somewhere for a quick lunch which made Bel & the Dragon perfect with their express lunch menu. I had the Haddock and Cauliflower pie with the Bel & Dragon white wine and enjoyed both. Bel & Dragon has a lot of charter and is not as touristy as pubs on the main street.

Jet lagged, walked up and down Windsor trying to find a place serving brunch late in the day. Stumbled upon the Bel and have to say, albeit just brunch was the best food I have had during my 4 day stay. Well prepared, flavored. Superb service and the atmosphere felt quintessential England and not touristy. So much character in this place and never rushed, traveling alone I felt at home here.

Beet salad - if you like beets this is a must!

If you answered yes to these four questions, head immediately to The Royal Oak. We had a slight concern when my GPS said we had arrived and it was a completely different pub. Luckily, the right pub was just a bit further up the road. We booked Sunday Lunch, because who doesn't like Sunday Lunch in a pub? If you bring your Ferrari, you can park right in the front as well! The inside is really warm and charming. There are really friendly staff there to welcome you in and let you sit in some comfy chairs and couches and have a drink while you're waiting for your fourth dining companion to arrive. So kudos to that. Our table was in the back in what looked like was an add-on. But one whole wall is full of windows overlooking a beautiful garden, so you don't really feel like you're shoved way in the back corner. The service was a bit slow, but if you're not in a rush, why does it matter? We ordered the baked Vacherin Mont d'or cheese (which in the winter, I will be doing at home instead of baked brie or Camembert) and a couple of Scotch Eggs and Rabbit on toast as pre-nibbles. The eggs and rabbit were nice, but not amazing, but the cheese dip was great. And the bread basket they served was awesome as well. Several types of bread with butter. The olive flatbreads were awesome, and since two diners didn't like olives, two of us got to eat a lot of them. They'll bring as much bread as you ask, but it's super easy to go overboard. For my starter I opted for something different than everyone else and got the game terrine. What a mistake that was. Not that the terrine wasn't delicious. It was, but the rabbit lasagne was like heaven in your mouth. I was super jealous of everyone else. For my main I ordered the hare and trotter pie. The crust wasn't the most amazing, but the filling was probably the best pie filling I've ever had. The hare and trotter were soft and luscious and the gravy was phenomenal. It was really rich so toward the end I had to cut the richness with the delicious mash they served with it. The other half had the woodcock and I tried a few bites of that as well. Awesome. Simply awesome. His only complaint was that it was huge and very rich so it was hard to finish it all, and he didn't want dessert at the end of the meal. For dessert, two of us ordered the chocolate fondant and one the butterscotch pudding. I loved the fondant, but again it was really good sized and incredibly rich. It was a lot after the rich pie. And the filling was almost too oozy. At least it wasn't over done. We also ordered some Madeleines and our coffees and teas came with Petits Fours. The Madeleines were kind of boring for me, they needed more flavor, but the Petits Fours (a raisin cake, coconut marshmallow and a chocolate truffle) were great. The coffee not so much. I hate ordering filter coffee and just getting a long pull espresso. They are not the same. But the bad parts were really minor. The good parts far outshown and some of the dishes we had were some of the best dishes of the weekend. The woodcock was fantastic and I'm still having dreams about my pie. I need to figure out how to make something that good at home. With a better pie crust. It's unfortunate that it's not really conveniently close, because I could see myself ending up here quite a bit. Since I was driving, I couldn't drink either, but given my state the night before, it was probably a good thing. If you're in the area and fancy an amazingly laid back atmosphere with awesome food, book this place!

I'm not sure on that, it's just something I thought we caught on to before we left and there started to be RESERVED tents going on the tables. We went and had Scotch Egg, Calamari, Arancini, fish & chips and STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING. Oh. My. Goodness! First the Scotch Egg. I don't want to be a Debbie Downer but it was....ok. It was a little plain. A little tasteless. They could have thrown a few spices into the meat, just a little something. To say that we've made better at home wouldn't be far out. But still good. The calamari was cooked just right. It's what you expect out of a calamari appetizer. Was it the best you'll ever have? Not really. Worth the price? Add it to your appetizer list! The rice balls, which is arancini is, were good. Add a little salt to the top and they were, also, as you'd expect. The fish & chips were exactly as we were hoping when visiting an English Pub for fish & chips. The fish was perfectly cooked, the coating was fabulous, and of course the chips were a perfect compliment to the fish. A great fish & chips experience. The star of the show was the Sticky Toffee Pudding. What a treat! Granted I've nothing to compare it to, this was my first time having it, but whether I've had it before or not THIS was perfection. Perfect texture, the flavour was amazing, the caramel drizzle was perfectly proportioned, and the little bit of ice cream on the side was just perfect. I would go back here simply on this dessert alone. As for the drinks, because, you know, it's a pub....I couldn't say. I don't drink alcohol but my Diet Coke was great! Fresh bottle! ....I suppose I could have gotten a non-alcoholic beer. Wait....did they have non-alcoholic beer there? SOMEONE FIND OUT IF THEY HAVE NON-ALCOHOLIC BEER THERE. The atmosphere was great. I can see how it would be perfect in the evening and on into the night. Very welcoming with a great looking bar.
