As a burger fan, I was pleased to see the Five Guys in Uxbridge - much closer to home than going into Covent Garden!
I've been a few times to the branch in London so I knew what to expect. The quality of the food was just as good as I'm used to. I was surprised that we got way less fries than I always get in town - just the cup was full, no extra half scoop that makes the paper bag all greasy and means that a small order of fries is enough for two.
The problems with the Uxbridge branch come down to the actual store. Firstly, it's really hard to tell where to queue, and everyone just kept coming up to the exit of the queue and cutting in, and no one told them to go away. Secondly, the music was SO LOUD that our ears were ringing when we left - not really what you want at nearly-fast-food at lunch time. Finally, one of the drinks machines was out of service so there was a long queue - and as they're crammed into the corner, it meant the queue snaked back to where you had to wait for your number to be called, causing a bit of a traffic jam.
And - no nuts to eat while you queue. They did have nuts, but they were in a box on top of the bin. Ugh.
I'd go again if it wasn't too busy but I think I'll save my burgering for central London (and just have the superior Shake Shack). read more
