The girlfriend and I were looking for a quick meal last Sunday and so, we popped in to try it out The USP at Five Guys is the marketer's tag line of as many 'free' toppings as you want. The basic burger is £8 with cheese and bacon (the crispy American version) costing more I was happy to see a suggested combo of toppings called All the Way, turning the basic burger into something akin to a Big Mac in flavour, I noted. Otherwise, I might been overwhelmed by choice. We went for that with a couple of little twists. It's fun to be able to watch your burger being created if you're a bit of a food nerd at the pick up station The decor is bright and cheerful and you can enjoy unlimited free peanuts while you wait for your food. The soda is sold in a free (yes, it's that word again!) refill manner and they have a magic machine which dispenses about 100 varieties apparently The burger was a generous size though the flavour was similar to the aforementioned Big Mac but the beef patty was certainly juicy and better quality. I saw a review on the wall praising their burger buns but it sadly didn't apply to my bun, which swiftly disintegrated within 2 bites. Eating the burger was a very messy affair and I was grateful for the availability of extra napkins The skin on fries were a soggy disappointment but I liked the optional Cajun seasoning. The menu is monthwatering but finally decided on a Smoking Burger with sweet potato fries and an Oreo shake (as recommended in a review). The shake was soooo good and thick, and can never go wrong with potato fries (why can I never make them as good at home). Sadly the service was not great, the restaurant was about a 1/3 full and I felt forgotten. Other tables that arrived after me were served first. When our food came it was not hot. And we were ignore when trying to get wait staffs attention to pay the bill. We did give our feedback and the waiter was apologetic and gave us a discount on the bill. Because of his good service recovery I would return....maybe I'll get their freakshakes next time.

Basically a pulled pork toastie served with pickles, this was fantastic, especially after the addition of a bit of hot sauce. Sadly the duck nuggets didn't come up to scratch. Particularly greasy and not exactly packed with flavour. I think I'll stick to the brisket croquettes next time.

My favourite is the Veggie & Camembert, which somes with Portobello mushroom, aubergine, red pepper, sweet potato, camembert, mayonnaise, rocket & onion jam. Another goodun is the new Butternut Squash Burger, with Butternut squash, polenta, celariac, spring onions, pecan nuts, breadcrumbs & parmesan. Wow! Another good thing is that new additions are always being added so you'll never run the risk of getting bored. The milkshakes are also amazing - ask for a chocolate one with a shot of lime and you'll me more than pleasantly surprised! The set-up and ambience is also good - relaxed and informal dining with the kitchen visible to customers. I don't know if they use local grass-fed cows, Angus, moose, Spanish Toros or whatever and I don't live in London so I really didn't care. But where ever the beef originated, god bless that place! The patties were well-done, crispy, delicious. The blue cheese was smooth--not overwhelming. The bun was perfect--light but it stayed together. Best of all--it wasn't greasy (like 5guys, ugh). BAD IDEA It was my second order in one month the first one was as bad as the second but I gave them another chance. The food arrived approximately one hour after the order. The hamburger was soggy and lukewarm the skinny fries stone cold and uneatable even after my effort to warm them up in a microwave. All in all it was the worst meal I had from the GBK brand. Please change because as from now you have lost a good client
